What do I know about finances? Far from everything. I work with the mental and emotional piece of money. I help people get out of their own way to become lusciously abundant. And I know enough to hire people to do what I don't know how to do. If you've never been to a financial planner (I hadn't) I want to share with you my first quick impressions. My biggest takeaway: I didn't even know what I didn't know. Good to know.
Do you ever perfectly agree with someone else about what to do with your money? It's a dance. It can be a beautiful dance or a sloppy, legs and arms flailing affair. Listen in for a dancing lesson.
When you put yourself on a budget, the biggest problem is the feelings of restriction and deprivation. Even before you have made one change in your actual spending, that pressure around your chest starts getting tighter. Your breathing gets shallower. Because deprivation lives in that noggin of yours. "I am not going to have enough." "I'll have to do without." "It's going to be horrible." What if you could live on any amount of money you choose and not feel restricted? It's crazy liberating. And all about freeing your mind.
Humans were made to seek pleasure. It's part of the motivational triad. The problems started when we created false pleasure. When we started processing our food to condense the sugar and create as big a rush as possible. The problems started when we began shopping with the click of a finger... when we condensed our shopping. You know the feeling false pleasure gives you. It's that high that feels sooooo good. And then leaves so quickly. Seeking pleasure is good. And feels good. And creates more of what you want in life. If you seek true pleasure.
But it's more complicated than that. Listen in on this live coaching call as my client works through her fear and embarrassment trying to get back into the workforce after raising three kids and a divorce. Fascinating!
We live in a patriarchal society. Men have most of the power and money. I find how men interact with money fascinating. Rather than feeling cheated and discriminated against, let's learn from men. On this week's episode you will learn about how men think differently than women about money. (Spoiler: They think money is interesting.) Let's steal some thoughts. Money is fun. Money is easy. Let's break the taboo and have some fun talking about money.
Sure, you can take action to try to fix your money problems. Cut your spending. Pull out of the stock market. Worry. But what you really want is inspired action. Action that moves you towards what you truly want in life. Action that creates abundance. Action that feels like freedom and wealth and love. Here's how.
If there is any message I want you to hear... any episode to listen to... this is it! The Secret to the Universe. How to move through life happier, with better relationships, and deeper purpose. This episode tells you how to create the results you want in your life with confidence. No drama. Put on your thinking cap. t's the real deal.
Listen in on a live coaching call with a fascinating lady. She has changed her mind, and rather than selling her house in the US to pay back a friend, she wants to keep her house. But with no job, how? We talk about failure, shame and the thought that money is hard. Good stuff!
You can think like a rich person or think like a poor person. Listen in for some thinking that may seem like it makes you rich but can make you poor instead.
Busy is a complaint wrapped in a boast. In a culture of "more is better", being busy is directly correlated to stress and spending. And while it can feel like life or death, busy is all in your mind. If you like what you are doing, you don't think to yourself, "I'm too busy." When you are fully engaged with what you are doing... when you have flow... there is no overwhelm. In flow, busy does not exist.
We all know that it takes failure to do great things. Or do we? The stories of our big wins rarely share all of the times we fell flat on our face with our skirt tucked into our panties. It seems like the golden people have floated to the top of their fields in a way that is almost magical... free from heartache. And when faced with failure ourselves, there are two ways to take it. As a sign that we have gone in the wrong direction, so we quit. Or we take that information and use it to course correct. Guess which one humans lean towards. Success doesn't seem like it should be such a long slog. Or so painful. The truth is if you enjoy the process... the journey to where you are going... you keep going, despite the failure. Even though failure sucks. Even for the golden people.
When you have a money problem the first thing you want to do is jump into action. Cut the cable. Sell the car. Hire an accountant. Blame it on your partner. Which is the opposite of what will fix the problem. Listen in to find out what to do to ACTUALLY repair your money problems. No Band-Aids. Just real healing.
How much money is enough? Enough to pay the bills? Enough to have a few extras along the way? Enough to live all of your dreams? When do you take a risk and when do you pull back and play it safe? How people differ in their money strategies is fascinating. As you listen to this live coaching call, notice what you are thinking about my client and her money challenges. The way she thinks about money has made all the difference.
Down deep, you have the answers. I can't tell you whether to spend your money on lattes or give it to charity. Each one of us has our own path. But you need to love your why. Why are you spending your money the way you do? Why do you live where you do? Why do you pay what you pay for haircuts? Or pizza? Or birthday gifts? It doesn't matter what A N Y O N E else thinks. Ask yourself why. Happiness comes when you feel in integrity with your answer.
No piece of paper... no number... no computer screen can tell you how good or bad your life is going to be. That's an inside job.
You may think you are all in when it comes to making more money or getting out of money trouble. But are you really? Are you willing to put your money before family? Before happiness? What would it take to explore ALL your options for the wealth you want? Are you ready to go all in?
It's the first Thursday of the month which means it's time for a live coaching session! This week my client is dealing with all of the emotions involved with taking risks with her money. She wants to invest for her retirement without having to give up fun and free time today. Can it be done? Listen in.
Money is not a zero sum game. Money is like love. The more you create, the more there is to go around. We can all be rich and feel abundant. Abundance flows to you and through you without depriving anyone else their abundance. The problem is not that for me to have more you have less. It's a belief issue. Money may not come to you in the way you expect or the timing you expect or even from the person you expect. If you can drop those expectations, value is free to flow.
It seems like things have gotten so expensive. There are so many more things we have to buy and maintain to live in the 21st century... cars and phones and indoor plumbing, oh my! Is it all worth it? Are we richer or poorer than folks 100 years ago? Are simpler times better or worse? Listen in to find out what it was actually like to live in 1920 vs. today. (Spoiler: Less than 20% of homes had a stove.)
Ghandi tried to give away his money. And people started throwing money at him. It was like a money magnet turned on. (Remind me to invent one of those. Oh wait... human nature has one built in, if you know how to turn it on.) Hear the story of Mark Boyle who decided to live for a year without making or spending money. He went off the grid and came out with some pretty amazing ideas about how the world works. "I've found that friendship, not money, is real security. That most western poverty is spiritual, and that independence is really interdependent."
Peek behind the scenes as you get to listen to a live coaching session! This client shares her disconnect between thinking there's not enough money and then realizing that she has plenty. They explore how she was brought up to think about money (spoiler alert... it's miserly) and a strategy to help her feel all the yummy abundance.
You are not broken if you overspend. You are not broken if you don't have money in savings. In fact, when you get to the place of your greatest pain is when you get the opportunity to break open and create beauty.
There are three kinds of business: My business, Your business and God's business. This tool, created by spiritual and thought leader, Bryton Katie, will help you eliminate most of your emotional suffering. Pretty amazing. Simple, profound and fascinating. I dare you to try it.
Just like horse whispering, there is a language to working with money. Forget pain and grasping and feeling like money is hard. Interact with your money in a way that delights and draws more to you. In this episode, Ellen shares what horses taught her about leadership and how nature is the ultimate money coach.
This is a must-listen episode. This personal interview tells the story of a woman's rise to wealth and power and the journey back after she loses it all.
In this episode, learn: Money is neutral. Money can't cause abundance or fear. There is an art to feeling pain. Feeling abundance is a choice. What the wha?!? Plus, I talk about the kind of people to hang around to become more abundant. Yep, I'm going there. Enjoy!
You can't fix your money problems if you don't know what is causing them.
Welcome to the first episode of Money Whispering! In this premiere episode, you will get an overview of Ellen Yale's philosophy about money. (hint, hint - It's all about what you have been brought up to believe about money.)
