One year ago in Butler, Pennsylvania, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks was able to get onto a nearby roof and take shots at Donald Trump. In the aftermath many wondered — who was this man who shot the presidential candidate, and how was he allowed to get so close to killing him? Host Colby Itkowitz speaks with investigative reporter Carol Leonnig about the mystifying search for a motive and what she and others have concluded about what went wrong that day, one year later. Today's show was produced by Sabby Robinson. It was edited by Maggie Penman and mixed by Rennie Svirnovsky. If you want to learn more about how the shooting in Butler changed Trump, our colleague Isaac Arnsdorf was on “Post Reports” on Friday to talk about that. His new book is “2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America.”Subscribe to The Washington Post here.

A tentative truce between Israel and Iran is faltering. Israel is vowing to retaliate after saying Iran launched missiles into its airspace more than two hours after a ceasefire was supposed to take effect. And as that conflict, and the U.S. part in it, soaks up interest around the globe, Iranians in Minnesota are voicing their concerns.A year ago this week, many of us will remember the images of a house plunging into the raging Blue Earth River as it carved a path around the Rapidan Dam in southern Minnesota. Aging infrastructure upgrades — including flood and stormwater projects — are needed across the U.S. as severe weather events become more frequent.Since the 1990s, conservationists say there's been a sharp drop in the number of monarch butterflies around the world. One Minnesota nonprofit is trying to reverse that trend. The Monarch Joint Venture is hosting a North American summit this week to discuss ways to protect the monarch butterfly and its migration. The event begins Tuesday at the McNamara Alumni Center on the University of Minnesota's Minneapolis campus.

Today, April 2, 2025, marks the one-year anniversary of Vindication Day, when absolute, undeniable proof showing there's a non-human intelligence present on Earth was made public. Crime scene reconstruction expert Scott Roder, who operate Ohio-based firm Evidence Room, presented his analysis of various videos related to the Las Vegas alien incident of 2023 that shows there is some kind of NHI present on the planet. Just before midnight on April 30, 2023, a UFO made a hard landing in the backyard of Kenmore family of Las Vegas. Family members were immediately confronted with two eight-to-ten-foot-tall alien creatures. Roder and his team were finally able to offer definitive evidence a year ago that backs up the claims made by the witnesses who encountered the weird creatures.MOONLIGHT SONATA: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ludwig_van_Beethoven_-_sonata_no._14_in_c_sharp_minor_%27moonlight%27,_op._27_no._2_-_i._adagio_sostenuto.oggSupport Extraterrestrial Reality/Quirk Zone on Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/c/Extraterrestrial_RealityCheck out my YouTube channel:Quirk Zone - YouTubeExtraterrestrial Reality Book Recommendations:Link to ROSWELL: THE ULTIMATE COLD CASE: CLOSED: https://amzn.to/3O2loSILink to COMMUNION by Whitley Strieber: https://amzn.to/3xuPGqiLink to THE THREAT by David M. Washington’s Democratic lawmakers are pushing forward with a promise they made last year to change a law they saw as problematic … but that they helped pass anyway. The law in question came from a voter initiative, commonly known as the Parents’ Bill of Rights. It was a Republican-led effort to increase parents’ ability to monitor their kids’ school records, including medical and mental health and counseling. Many were concerned that it erodes students’ privacy protections – especially for LGBTQ students. Last week, House Democrats advanced a bill that would amend some of the changes. It follows similar actions taken by Senate Democrats last month. Republican lawmakers are, unsurprisingly, unhappy about the moves. They say schools will be able to keep parents in the dark about serious issues with their children.
