This could be the final Easter weekend of not knowing what's open and not what's not and when and when you can drink something and when you can't. That's because Kieran McAnulty's member's bill to make amendments to the Shop Trading Hours Act has recently passed its first reading at Parliament. MPs in the past have tried and failed at making changes to legislation, including Act's Cameron Luxton, who talks to Tim Beveridge. LISTEN ABOVE. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Doug Clay and Sam Brownback work in very different arenas. But both have a heart to serve Christians around the world. Doug Clay, general superintendent of the Assemblies of God - USA, shares about the genesis of the AG church and their current goal to put a church within walking distance of all humanity—including people living in hostile areas and restricted nations. “The finishing of the Great Commission is doable in our lifetime,” Clay says. Clay will share three ways to pray for your pastor and how he works to help the church equip the saints to have a biblical worldview and to endure. Seeing the church as the expansion of God's Kingdom, Doug knows it's crucial to encourage and pray for your pastor and for church leaders around the world. Sam Brownback served as United States Ambassador for International Religious Freedom during the first Trump administration. He has worked for decades to defend religious liberty in nations hostile to Christian teaching. Brownback will share from his experiences meeting with leaders of foreign nations, including one conversation that led directly to the release of a Christian pastor from prison. He'll also share how a formerly imprisoned Christian in Saudi Arabia encouraged him to continue in the work God called him to, and how raising religious freedom issues with your elected officials can be a practical way to serve persecuted brothers and sisters. Currently, Brownback is working on a book about persecution in China.
“From the highest planet in the material world down to the lowest, all are places of misery wherein repeated birth and death take place. But one who attains to My abode, O son of Kunti, never takes birth again.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-gita, 8.16)
Changes are coming to our drivers licensing system, with only one practical test in a bid to have more Kiwis on full licenses. Transport minister Chris Bishop tells Mike Hosking a lot of people 'don't bother' graduating from a restricted to full license. "There are a lot of people out there right now breaking the law, just driving on the restricted," he said. LISTEN ABOVE. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Ofek Lavian is the Co-founder and CEO of Forage, the mission driven payments company. This is a special episode, because I'm an investor in Forage, and Ofek shares everything he's learned building the company. We go deep on food stamps, also known as EBT or SNAP, the government program that provides over $200 billion dollars per year in benefits that help 42 million low income Americans buy food. Our conversation gets into lessons from Ofek's time leading payments teams at Uber and Instacart, building Instacart's EBT program up to 40 employees and 10% of its total revenue, and why Ofek is so passionate about helping low income Americans. We get into the history of food stamps, market dynamics that led to low online adoption, the days Ofek thought Forage might not make it all the way to now working with the biggest players in online grocery, like Uber and DoorDash, and the long-term opportunity Forage has to build the rails the government uses to distribute trillions of dollars of restricted consumer benefits. Thanks to Numeral for supporting this episode, the end-to-end platform for sales tax and compliance. I've felt restricted around all different types of eating so I get it... I've had clients who I give the same protocol to and one person says “this is too restrictive” and another person says “this is great”One thing I've really learned over the years is that restriction is a feeling, not a fact. And it comes down to our own thought patterns, which can be influenced by our beliefs and past experiences. There are things I used to find restrictive- like not drinking alcohol, limiting caffeine- that are just part of what I do now and don't feel restrictive at all. This is where individualization comes in, and is a big reason why we don't just give cookie cutter plans to people. We often make RECOMMENDATIONS based on people's health history, symptoms, goals, etc. and then further tailor those recommendations based on labs, but the recommendations are a starting point… some people will come back and say “is there more we can do, I want to tackle this as fast as possible and as effectively as possible, so if there's anything else you think would help, I'm ready to do anything” in which case we might make the plan even more detailed or “intense” For others, they might say “this feels really restrictive, I don't know how I can do this, I'm freaking out”, in which case we simplify the plan. Plans are never black and white, they are a spectrum of grey, and we need to find each person's ideal spot of grey where they are able to move the needle and follow the plan. At the end of the day, restriction is a feeling, and it is one that we can approach like any other feeling that comes up. In this episode, we'll tackle the concept of restriction and hopefully give you a different lens to view it in route to your health and nutrition goals. Today, we're taking on a topic you've probably heard of – it may have even impacted you personally. But you might not be aware just how linked it is to the issue of diversity and inclusion. We're talking about noncompete agreements. Noncompetes have long been a staple in corporate America. But, despite supposedly being in place to protect trade secrets, many workers, including low earners, have been subject to this practice, greatly restricting their career options, flexibility and earning potential. And that's especially the case for underrepresented voices. A number of studies suggest that noncompete agreements more strongly affect women and people of color, with one finding that strict enforcement of noncompete agreements lowered the wages of women and people of color by twice as much as white men. But things are starting to change. Last year, the FTC announced a rule banning noncompetes. Whilst it was largely welcomed by workers, not all employers were so happy about it. So we're going to dive into the issue today. We're going to talk about what noncompete agreements are, how they harm workers, especially women and other underrepresented voices, and share ideas for how organizations can build trust and employee retention, without restrictive contracts. IN THIS EPISODE: [01.38] Introductions to our Blended panelists. · Kiran – Founder and CEO of M2M Business Solutions, and CEO at Brar's · Karin – CEO at NIRAKIO · Chelsey – Founder of The Asterios Group [05.08] The group discuss noncompete agreements – what they are, their purpose, why people sign them, the challenges, and how they ultimately harm workers. · Restricted transitions from employed to self-employment/entrepreneurship · Restricted employed career growth · Can they actually be managed? · Who really wins? · Who is considered competition? – Understanding your exposure as an employee · Regular monitoring and updates · Challenge to enforce · Time and cost implications · Role in sales · Negotiation · Complexity · Intent · Lack of understanding – employees often don't understand the potential depth of the contract · Ethics/integrity · Multitude of agreements: o Noncompete o Non-solicitation o Exclusivity o Separation agreements o Mutual non-disclosure o Confidentiality o NDA · Making it too easy to sign · Different interpretations/translations/meanings · Contradiction · Trust · Impact of words on culture · Role of technology · What can you actually restrict? · Can you restrict people and not AI? · Evolution of noncompetes · Company IP vs personal IP · Impact of job-hopping · Retention incentives · Asking for more money · Creating the right culture · Impact of economic conditions and market changes · Judgement · Senior vs junior employees “At the highest level, it sounds like a good idea. It's at least a good idea for the employer, but not always for the employee.” Karin “It's a system that's put in place with the right intentions, to overcome certain issues, but I personally feel that it doesn't fulfil the requirements either for the employer or the employee.” Kiran “It was originally designed to protect companies, but I don't think that's where it's sitting today.” Chelsey “It's something that has to be monitored, managed and updated – and potentially resigned on a regular basis, if a company is serious about its intent behind the noncompete. That's very expensive, and each and every time you request an employee to re-sign, it's a time for that employee to reconsider if they still want to be a part of that organization.” Karin “Fewer than 10% of workers negotiate these agreements.” Chelsey “Can everyone talk about the meaning of the words?! The words have lost all meaning, they've become buzzwords... Let's talk about the words as part of impact on culture.” Kiran “It's so hard to restrict information in a human brain. If I'm an employee in one place and go to another, I didn't say anything about my previous job… but I still have lessons learned and knowledge, I'm not sharing information customer-to-customer, but I'm going to have new solutions. There are certain things you can't restrict, even when you're being ethical.” Kiran “When you build a body of expertise in a particular market segment, you're more valuable in that market segment… My personal IP makes me more valuable, so why would I want to restrict my ability to serve within that area?” Karin “30-40% of employees are asked to sign an agreement AFTER they've already accepted the job.” Chelsey [01.04.22] The panel share their stories and personal experiences of encountering noncompete agreements, and the lessons they learned. · Impact of coaches and mentors · Legal costs · Signing without reading · Asking questions · Impact of age · Impact on industry as a whole · Personal power · Time boundaries around restrictions · Pay attention to the ‘what-if?' · Transparency “Employers: try to build a culture of trust, celebration and appreciation – make your company a place people don't want to leave. And if they do, they don't want to hurt you!” Chelsey [01.15.18] The group sum up their thoughts from today's discussion. It's Wednesday, March 5th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Chinese Communists refer to Christianity as a cult China celebrated its continued persecution of Christianity, calling it a cult organization. State-owned media platforms said, “China's public security authorities intensified efforts to dismantle cult organizations in 2024. They have worked to curb the growth and spread of cult organizations, mitigating potential threats to national political security and maintaining social stability.” The Chinese Communist Party treats religious freedom as a threat to the government. International Christian Concern notes home churches are “often raided and their members arrested on charges of working against the interests of the state.” British Christian teacher fired for opposing transgenderism Yesterday, a tribunal in the United Kingdom began hearing the case of a Christian teacher who was fired for opposing transgenderism. The teacher, identified as Hannah, is suing the Nottinghamshire County Council which runs the school she worked at. She accuses the school of dismissing her for exposing its “trans affirming” policy. Ahead of the hearing, Hannah said, “I was informed by my conscience as a Christian to live right before my God and also by the body of evidence I had researched which informed me clearly that social transitioning young children is harmful.” Trump pauses military aid to Ukraine In the United States, the Trump administration is planning to pause military aid to Ukraine. This follows a heated meeting between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last Friday. The U.S. has sent over $180 billion in aid to Ukraine since Russia invaded it in 2022. A White House official told Fox News, “President Trump has been clear that he is focused on peace. We need our partners to be committed to that goal as well. We are pausing and reviewing our aid to ensure that it is contributing to a solution.” English becomes official language of U.S.A. President Trump signed an executive order on Saturday to make English the official language of the United States. The order revokes a mandate from former President Bill Clinton. That mandate required the government to provide language assistance for its documents and services for non-English speakers. It's the first time the federal government has recognized an official language. Trump's order noted it is “long past time that English is declared as the official language of the United States. A nationally designated language is at the core of a unified and cohesive society, and the United States is strengthened by a citizenry that can freely exchange ideas in one shared language.” Homeschooling could be restricted in several states The Home School Legal Defense Association warns that states may be considering bills to restrict homeschool freedom this year. The Coalition for Responsible Home Education introduced a model piece of legislation called the “Make Homeschool Safe Act.” However, the deceptively titled act would only bring more state control over homeschooling. The Home School Legal Defense Association noted, “It is an all-out attack on homeschool liberty from beginning to end.” The group encouraged homeschool advocates to pray and get to know their state legislators. In 1 Timothy 2:2, the Apostle Paul tells us to pray for those in authority “that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.” “House of David” is visually stunning and spiritually rich And finally, with strong cinematography, solid performances and a focus on biblical accuracy, Prime Video's “House of David” is an ambitious mix of drama and historical storytelling, capturing the fall of King Saul and the simultaneous rise of David with the scope of “The Lord of the Rings” and the character depth of “The Chosen,” reports The Christian Post. From Jon Gunn and Jon Erwin (who previously teamed up for “Jesus Revolution,” "I Can Only Imagine" and “The Case for Christ”), the first season, which premiered on Prime this week, follows David's early years: His journey from shepherd to warrior and court musician, culminating in his battle against the giant Goliath. In 1 Samuel 17:26, young David asked a question about Goliath: “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?” Rather than simply retelling well-known events, “House of David” focuses on the personal struggles of its characters, making them relatable and human (even Goliath!), a technique that helped propel “The Chosen,” also recently acquired by Amazon, to a worldwide phenomenon. This week on the Church in Action podcast, we're talking about how people here in New England can minister to closed countries! Closed countries are countries in which religious practice is heavily restricted. We'll be talking with Bill Blount, president of Blount Communications, which you may know as Life Changing Radio. This is an interesting episode that gets us thinking outside of ourselves and opens the conversation to ways we can effectively share the gospel.
Read the article. One of the common misconceptions about the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible is that it is a universally public domain work—something many tout as a feature of its superiority to modern copyrighted translations. But most don't realize that it is still under a special perpetual copyright of the Crown in the United Kingdom.Unlike the KJV, some modern translations such as the Berean Standard Bible are public domain worldwide. So while it's important for a Bible translation to be in the public domain, there are modern translations that fulfill that better than the KJV does.sellingjesus.org | thedoreanprinciple.org | copy.church

Understanding Amniotic Fluid: What's Normal and What's Not Amniotic fluid is the protective liquid contained within the amniotic sac that surrounds a baby during pregnancy. This vital fluid plays a critical role in fetal development, providing cushioning, regulating temperature, and enabling the baby to move and grow within the uterus. It also facilitates the development of essential systems like the lungs, digestive tract, and musculoskeletal system. What Is Amniotic Fluid Made Of? Amniotic fluid begins to form around the 12th day of pregnancy and is initially composed of water from the mother. As the pregnancy progresses, it includes fetal urine, nutrients, hormones, and antibodies, creating a nutrient-rich environment for the growing baby. What's Normal? The amount of amniotic fluid changes throughout pregnancy, peaking around 34 weeks and then gradually decreasing. Here's what's considered normal: Volume: Typically, the amount of amniotic fluid ranges from 500 to 1,000 milliliters at term. Clear or Slightly Tinted Fluid: Normal amniotic fluid is clear or slightly yellow-tinted. Healthy Fetal Movement: Adequate fluid allows the baby to move freely, which promotes muscle and bone development. Doctors assess amniotic fluid levels using ultrasound and measure the Amniotic Fluid Index (AFI) or the Deepest Vertical Pocket (DVP) to ensure levels are within a healthy range. What's Not Normal? Abnormalities in amniotic fluid levels can indicate potential complications: Low Amniotic Fluid (Oligohydramnios): This condition occurs when fluid levels are too low and can lead to: Restricted fetal growth. Increased risk of umbilical cord compression. Complications during labor, such as reduced cushioning for the baby. Excess Amniotic Fluid (Polyhydramnios): Excess fluid can result from issues such as gestational diabetes, fetal anomalies, or infections. It may cause: Preterm labor. Difficulty breathing for the mother due to uterine overdistension. Increased risk of placental abruption or cord prolapse. Discolored Fluid: Green or Brown (Meconium-Stained Fluid): This indicates that the baby has passed its first stool in utero, which could signal fetal distress. Bloody Fluid: This may suggest complications like placental abruption or injury. Monitoring Amniotic Fluid Routine prenatal care includes monitoring amniotic fluid levels. If abnormalities are detected, your healthcare provider may recommend additional tests, interventions, or close monitoring to ensure the safety of both mother and baby.
