Student Spotlight: Madison Lee is a Goizueta Business Scholar from Texas double majoring Dance and Business. She has danced with stars such as Kinjaz at the Dallas Cowboys Home Opener Halftime Show and Asia O'Hara on RuPaul Drag Race's Electrique Christmas. Her hip hop team, The Officials, has also performed at numerous international competitions such as Hip Hop International and World of Dance Dallas. She is currently a member of Emory Dance Company. Since many of you are getting your college decisions and trying to figure out where you are going to spend the next four years of your life, we decided to take a little trip down memory lane! A topic SO close to my heart and not talked about enough. I realized listening back that it could sound like I am trying to villainize classical musicians or institutions, please know that this is NOT the case. I myself am classically trained, still play classical music daily and am a patron; this is an exploration on how white supremacy is reflected in so many institutions that we hold dear: music being no exception. I fully believe that the only way for us to progress is to begin the conversation, or just consider it for a little bit.
