This edition of Radio Gbarnga’s Podcast focuses on the important role of community radios in the fight against Ebola. The president of the Association of Liberia Community Radio, William Quire, urged journalists to continue to report post-Ebola stories. By developing a culture of acceptance, they can help reduce stigma against Ebola survivors. He follows a guided tour by Sambhavi Cheemalapati, the Program Coordinator of the International Medical Corps. Together with a Liberian health worker she explain their respectful and strict rules to handle the sick, the dead and they describe the procedure of releasing a survivor from the ETU. Dr. Obed Dolo speaks about the promising condition of the hospital and the disastrous problems quarantined areas had to face during the outbreak: Besides the Ebola stigma, there’s the economic hardship. This week we podcast an interview with Jefferson Massah from Radio Gbarnga with the Program Coordinator of the International Medical Corps, who worked at the Ebola Treatment Unit in Bong County. Jefferson Massah from Radio Gbarnga reports on the crucial work of the Act Alliance Liberia Forum who provided Awareness and Sensitization workshops to the communities of Bong county. The workshops aimed at awareness on the spread and prevention of the Ebola Virus and on coping with the stress and trauma of the Ebola survivors and their relatives. Jefferson Massah von Radio Gbarnga berichtet über die Initiative des Act Alliance Liberia Forums, die Bewusstseins- und Sensibilisierungsworkshops in Bong County durchführte. Die Workshops zielten darauf ab, Kenntnis über die Verbreitung des Virus und Vermeidungstrategien zu vermitteln sowie den Ebola-Überlebenden und deren Verwandten bei der Bewältigung von Stress und Trauma zu helfen.

In this edition of the Ebola Situation Report two Ebola survivors share their experience of how they contracted the virus and of their recovery. Ebola Situation Report - The community radio’s broadcast during the Ebola outbreak in 2014 Jefferson Massah with Radio Gbarnga is presenting an interview with a staff member of the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on the occasion of opening two Mobile Ebola Testing Labs in Bong County, Central Liberia, in autumn 2014. Ebola Situation Report - Die Lageberichte des Gemeinde-Radios während des Ebola-Ausbruchs 2014 Jefferson Massah von Radio Gbarnga präsentiert in dieser Sendung ein Interview mit einem Mitarbeiter des amerikanischen Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Das CDC eröffnete im Herbst 2014 zwei mobile Ebola Test-Labore in Bong County.
