CLICK HEREWho we areBlock Club Chicago is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit news organization dedicated to delivering reliable, relevant and nonpartisan coverage of Chicago's diverse neighborhoods. We believe all neighborhoods deserve to be covered in a meaningful way.We amplify positive stories, cover development and local school council meetings and serve as watchdogs in neighborhoods often ostracized by traditional news media.Ground-level coverageOur neighborhood-based reporters don't parachute in once to cover a story. They are in the neighborhoods they cover every day building relationships over time with neighbors. We believe this ground-level approach not only builds community but leads to a more accurate portrayal of a neighborhood.Stories that matter to you — every daySince our launch five years ago, we've published more than 25,000 stories from the neighborhoods, covered hundreds of community meetings and send daily and neighborhood newsletters to more than 130,000 Chicagoans. We've built this loyalty by proving to folks we are not only covering their neighborhoods, we are a part of them. Some of us have internalized the national media's narrative of a broken Chicago. We aim to change that by celebrating our neighborhoods and chronicling the resilience of the people who fight every day to make Chicago a better place for all.

In this episode of the Where Parents Talk podcast, host Lianne Castelino speaks to child and adolescent psychiatrist Dr. Sami Timimi, psychiatrist and author of Searching for Normal. The conversation examines the current approach to diagnosing mental health conditions in young people. Drawing on extensive clinical experience, Dr. Timimi questions the growing tendency to interpret behavioural patterns—such as inattention or restlessness—as indicators of fixed psychiatric disorders. He outlines how diagnostic labels, including ADHD, may influence a child's developing identity and can shape long-term expectations about their abilities and well-being.The conversation explores the broader social environment contributing to rising diagnosis rates. Factors such as social media exposure, academic pressure, and performance-driven school cultures have shifted how families, educators, and clinicians interpret children's emotions and behaviors. Dr. Timimi explains how these influences may lead to the pathologizing of challenges that, in many cases, fall within the range of typical development. He also discusses alternative approaches to supporting young people, emphasizing relational and contextual assessment rather than reliance on diagnostic categories. Dr. Timimi encourages parents to engage with professionals who consider family dynamics, developmental stages, and environmental stressors when evaluating a child's concerns.Takeaways: Understanding mental health diagnoses in children requires a shift away from viewing behaviors as disorders. The rise in psychiatric medication among young people raises concerns about long-term effectiveness and side effects. It's crucial for parents to maintain open communication with their children and resist the urge to pathologize normal struggles. Navigating adolescence involves hormonal changes and device usage, impacting both emotional and mental health significantly. Social media can amplify feelings of inadequacy, making it essential to teach resilience and independence in children. Bullying and peer relationships are pivotal in shaping the mental health landscape of today's youth. Send us a textIn this episode, Dr. Marina Metzler (St. Louis Children's) shares her experience as a mentored fellow within the CHNC network, focusing on her project investigating genetic diagnoses in neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). She discusses the application and mentorship process, the support available from statisticians and CHNC collaborators, and early findings showing that infants with genetic conditions often experience longer NICU stays, more ventilator support, and greater feeding challenges. Dr. Metzler highlights the potential for genetic testing to refine diagnosis, guide care, and inform families, while emphasizing the need for larger datasets and multi-center collaboration to advance understanding in this complex population.Support the showAs always, feel free to send us questions, comments, or suggestions to our email: nicupodcast@gmail.com. Der religiöse Fanatismus der Zylonen ist Britt-Marie zu Kopf gestiegen, denn selbiger raucht nach diesem Kammerspiel, in dem sich Starbuck und Leoben Conoy a.k.a. Nummer Zwei beharken.
It's curious how Prince Andrew's COVID-19 diagnosis surfaced just as he was set to appear at one of the biggest public events of his post-scandal life — Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee Thanksgiving Service. The palace claimed he had “tested positive” and would therefore miss the ceremony. To many, that announcement felt a little too convenient. Andrew's absence spared the royals from the awkward optics of his presence amid the jubilee celebrations, where his appearance would've surely drawn boos, headlines, and renewed scrutiny. Critics online quickly called the timing “suspect,” noting that a sudden case of COVID seemed to arrive right on schedule to save both Andrew and the Crown from public embarrassment. The vagueness surrounding the diagnosis didn't help either. Buckingham Palace offered no details on how sick he was, when he tested positive, or whether anyone else in his circle had been affected. Given the royal family's long-standing penchant for secrecy — especially when managing scandal — many observers questioned whether this was truly about health or about optics. Even royal commentators admitted that the announcement's timing “raised eyebrows” and that it might have been a polite cover for keeping him far away from the cameras. Whether coincidence or calculated withdrawal, the entire episode only deepened the public's skepticism toward both Andrew's integrity and the monarchy's management of his reputation.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.

Kristina and Anna unpack how the Inner Villain system shows up in everyday life: time blindness, rule-set clashes, obsessive “fixing,” and the loneliness of divide-and-conquer living. Kristina shares how mold, town history, and nervous-system patterns mirrored the Evasive Expert arc—and the practical “FUNNY” framework she and Luke use to slow down, reconnect, and shift out of overthinking. Anna explores the Righteous Bully, Obedient Critic, Nothing (Invisible Destroyer), and Eternal Child dynamics in relationships, with concrete tools for timing difficult conversations.
