Welcome to The BOM-BITES Come Follow Me Podcast! Each weekday, we share a short (generally less than 10 minutes) episode to help you "feast upon the words ONE BITE AT A TIME" as you study Come Follow Me as an individual or as a family. If you’d like to s

If there were to be a “thesis statement” for the entire Old Testament, it could arguably be found in Exodus chapter 19. And the lesson is no different for members of the church today. If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

To anyone who is called to be a leader in the church, you will appreciate the message found in Exodus 18.If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

Have you ever noticed that the children of Israel have short term memory issues?

When the Lord rained manna from heaven, his purpose wasn't just to feed the hungry, murmuring children of Israel, but it also teach them more about him and the need to gather his goodness daily. If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

Israel…we have a problem. The trick for all of us to figure out how to properly deal with those problems when they arise and not just do what comes so naturally to all of us.If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

How would you feel if you were just redeemed and saved from Pharaoh's armies? Yeah, I'd want to sing praises too! What is your “redemption hymn”?If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

Out of all the examples to use to explain the principle of revelation, why would the Lord use the classic story of Moses parting the Red Sea?

The Passover Feast is such a sacred experience for all who appreciate the symbolism of it. It reminds us all of the need to remember. If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

The only way that Israel can be completely freed from Egyptian bondage is through the death of the firstborn. And there is some wonderful symbolism there for us as well.

If you want to have an interesting experience, search the word “plague“ in the last 40 years of general conference talks. You will see that the same God who helped Israel get out of Egypt, is the same one that will help us through modern day plagues. If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

Sometimes the greatest sermons can be found in the singing of the hymns.

In order to be liberated from Egypt, the very gods which held Israel captive had to be destroyed. Where the plagues just “random acts of cursing” or was there a purpose behind each one of these plagues? If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

Israel was never meant to be a slave in Egypt, so the Lord prepared a series of fantastic “object lessons” to help liberate Israel from the grasp of the Egyptians. If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

Moses felt very inadequate with his new task of liberating Israel from Egypt. There are great lessons here for any of us who also feel inadequate with the tasks that we have to do.If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

Of all of the titles of Jesus Christ that are mentioned in the Scriptures, these two might have the most power. Hopefully we can all remember that.

In order for Moses to truly deliver Israel out of bondage, he first has to recognize the things that he needs to overcome. There is a pattern in these verses that is very applicable to us today. If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

Just like Pharaoh tried to prevent two Hebrew midwives from fulfilling their duties, Satan is also trying to prevent good women today from fulfilling their divine roles. I love this story of two women of faith who recognized their divine role and purpose and saved the day.If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

As we start our study of the book of Exodus, we will see parallels to our own journey through this crazy world as we strive to Let God Prevail!

Man, what a year it has been studying Come Follow Me so far! All I ever learned in life…I learned in the Books of Moses, Abraham, and Genesis!

What an amazing this it is to have “a choice seer” to help us gain a knowledge of covenants. So grateful for the prophecies of Joseph of Egypt that help me love Joseph Smith and The Book of Mormon even more.

There is a wonderful little lesson in Genesis 50 about forgiveness - whether it be to your family or to yourself. If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

So, what does it really mean when you get a patriarchal blessing and your “lineage” is declared? Well, this crazy family needs to be gathered - and we get the privilege of participating in it.

As one of my students so wisely stated, “Jesus is horrible at hide-and-seek in the scriptures”.

Joseph is a hero! His life is a wonderful example of how “all things work together for good to them that love God”.If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

Joseph is the perfect example for showing us tips for tackling temptation when they are put in our path.If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

Man, Joseph had some hard trials hit him at a very young age, and yet people could tell that “the Lord was with him”. What an example!

Props to the late Stephen R. Covey for the inspiration on this message that goes so well setting up the story of Joseph. If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

Before we get into the awesome story of Joseph, there is a cool little principle in Genesis 35 that serves as a wonderful reminder of our need for covenants and holy places.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of reconciliation. There are many instances where we see this in the scriptures, but this one might be one of my favorites!

After a crazy night of wrestling, Jacob persevered and gained a tremendous blessing that also helps me know that I too can “let God prevail”!

One of the simplest verses in the Old Testament provides one of the most powerful messages!

Just like his grandfather Abraham and his father Isaac before him, it is crucial that Jacob marry in the covenant and have posterity…but, man - what a crazy adventure these two chapters are in getting him there!

Genesis 28 gives some great context to a very familiar hymn of ours and gives some excellent counsel on getting “Nearer, My God, to Thee”

Abraham is a hero! I mean, not everyone has a covenant named after them, right? There several things that we can learn from the life of Abraham to also be considered, like he was “a friend of God”.

What a crazy chapter! Can righteous people be deceived? We humans are a messy bunch aren't we? Thank goodness there is a merciful, all-knowing God who still accomplishes his will…even when we get in the way and try and help in very clumsy, myopic ways.If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

The real reason for failure is giving up what we want the most for what we want at the moment. If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

If the continuation of the covenant from Abraham to Isaac is of the utmost importance, then who Isaac marries is absolutely crucial! Rebekah is “a ten camel companion” in so many ways…

Genesis 24 is is a crucial chapter in the continuation of the covenant that God made with Abraham as it hinges on Isaac marrying in the covenant. And it has some personal meaning to me as well.

We should constantly be looking for Jesus Christ in the stories in the scriptures. The story of Abraham and Isaac is a perfect example of this.

If you think about the question “Is any thing too hard for the Lord?”, our initial response is “of course not!”. That said, it is one thing to believe that God can do all things but another to realize that it can actually happen in your own life as well.If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

The story of Lot's wife and looking back at Sodom after she was specifically commanded not to is a tragic story…with some great application for us.

To keep the Abrahamic Covenant, to be different than the world and to have the Spirit of the Lord, we need to be very cautious in our homes and in our personal lives to not even except a thread of what the world has to offer. If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

When Abram and Lot separated, Lot chose the more “well-watered” area and pitched his tent “toward Sodom”. Where you decide to pitch your tent can make a huge difference in where you end up.If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

The story of Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar is a messy story where otherwise faithful people panic when the fear of God's promises not coming to pass is in their minds. I love the principle taught in this chapter to help any who feel misunderstood, confused, or fearful. If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

Back in Abraham 1:2, one of the things Abraham desired was to be “a prince of peace”. This story gives us a perfect example of that righteous desire in practice. Pretty sure there's a lesson here for us in this divisive and contentious world. If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

In a world that is absolutely obsessed with labeling and dividing us - of all the “identities” to be known as, “the seed of Abraham” is a pretty amazing identifier.

The “Thoughts to Keep in Mind” about The Covenant in the CFM Curriculum this month is awesome! “Did this covenant give Abraham, Sarah, and their descendants a privileged status among God's children? Only in the sense that it is a privilege to bless others.” So good!If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

Desire is a pretty crucial thing in our lives. It dictates where we put our energy and priorities. It is cool to see what Abraham desired and sought after and what it led him to…and how it has blessed my life.

The Tower of Babel is such an interesting story. You've got a group of people who are trying to get into the presence of God by doing things their own way rather than doing them the way God wants them to do it. There's definitely a valuable lesson there for you and me in our desires to get closer to God.If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

It must have been pretty frustrating for Noah to invite all to get in the ark and to have them ignore his counsel. I'm so grateful for a modern-day Noah who is not only inviting us to do the same thing, but asking us to “flood the earth” with messages of goodness in hopes that they will choose to get in the ark and choose to stay.If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!

The Lord asked Noah to build an ark. I can only imagine the questions, concerns, doubts that Noah had along the way in the building process. There are more than a few lessons for us here as we are preparing for the “floods” of life.If you'd like to view the video that goes with the podcast, click here!
