Welcome to The BOM-BITES Come Follow Me Podcast! Each weekday, we share a short (generally less than 10 minutes) episode to help you "feast upon the words ONE BITE AT A TIME" as you study Come Follow Me as an individual or as a family. If you’d like to s
Just a simple message today from D&C 85:6 reminding us of the importance of learning how to #hearhim.
I decided to take a little different approach to D&C 85:1-2 with a familiar topic for members of the church.
Whether it is serving faithfully in callings or as you step out of your comfort zones in faith, the Lord prepares angels to bear you up and help you.
In the midst of a revelation about the temple and priesthood, the Lord lovingly calls out the Saints for something they are omitting from their lives. There's a great message for us here as well!If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
The Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood (D&C 84:33-41) is such a great reminder to all of us that God keeps his promises to all those who are faithful and magnify their callings. If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
Every priesthood holder has something pretty amazing in common with Moses and it's found in D&C 84:6-16.
The priesthood, as explained in D&C 84 is pretty amazing and I believe it gives us a little taste of what it is like to be like God.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
The whole idea of the United Order and the law of consecration is really found in D&C 82:18-19. When this is our aim, I think we really start to get an idea what Zion really is.
To any of our friends who either sin on a regular basis (all of us) and those who struggle with dieting (many of us) - the message in D&C 82:7 is for you.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
D&C 82:10 has always been a favorite verse of mine. But like most scriptures, the more you study - the more your understanding of that principle evolves and you grow to appreciate it even more. Hopefully today's episode will help with that.
Ah, Spider-Man…one of my favorite scripture heroes.
I'd love to meet so many people from Church History! One in particular is Jesse Gause. I'd LOVE to know more about his story - most of which is a mystery to us. But the counsel and promises originally meant for him in D&C 81 can apply so much to all of us.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
When it comes to missionary service, sometimes we got so excitedly caught up on the “where” that we tend to forget and almost devalue the what and the why. D&C 80 addresses those pretty well.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
In D&C 79, we get a small peek into one of the more effective missionaries in Church History and how his faithful service truly saw him “crowned with sheaves”
March of 1832 was a rough period for the Saints, particularly for Joseph and his family. D&C 78 can be just the right medicine for anyone who has unwanted adversity and to be reminded that “the kingdom is yours and the blessing thereof are yours the riches of eternity are yours”.
D&C 77 is a pretty cool section. Not just in its content but in the underlying principle of how to approach our loving Heavenly Father with questions. The phrase “What are we to understand?” might be one of the best repeated statements here regarding how to approach our sincere questions.
Just a quick overview of D&C 77-80 showing the Lord's purposes in creating the United Firm and other “earthly things” that are still designed to bless our lives and “lead us along” the way.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
In my opinion, there is one major difference between the Terrestrial and Celestial Kingdoms…and D&C 76 describes it well.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
Well, here it is - the Celestial Kingdom in all its glory, as found in D&C 76! And what if I told you that I believe that our chances of getting there are actually pretty high?!? ☀️If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
The biggest part of D&C 76 is the understanding of the three degrees of glory, so today we start with the lowest - welcome to the Telestial Kingdom! If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
The fall of Lucifer - a son of the morning, along with those who followed him was definitely a tough “loss” for our Father. Perhaps there are some things to learn from them from D&C 76.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
Here it is…D&C 76 - one of the most important sections to our understanding of God's Plan, simply known as “The Vision”.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
Have you ever felt like you are just DONE and you can't do anymore when it comes to the difficult things in life? Hopefully this little thought from D&C 75 helps…
So, D&C 74 has always been a bit of an anomaly for me. It's out of context, no real story line….and yet, there's a nice little message here. And much thanks to Steven Harper for his insights on this one.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
Preaching the gospel doesn't always come naturally for many, so today - in the immortal words of Allen Iverson, “We talkin' PRACTICE!”
Have you ever been given a calling in the church that you felt like you haven't measured up to? If so, you're normal! Hopefully D&C 72 can help those who feel like they are inadequate when it comes to certain calling in the church.
In my opinion, D&C 71 has one of the coolest verses in all of the Doctrine & Covenants! Why would we want to confound our enemies? Let's discuss!
Do you mark your scriptures? If so, what have been the verses that have blessed your life the most? D&C 70 gives us a chance to look at the passages in D&C that have been worth more to you than “the riches of the earth.”
Do you keep a journal? “Saints”, the awesome multi-volume history of the Church, is fantastic evidence of why writing your own history might be a good idea.
The Lord tells us to "be of good cheer" so many times throughout the scriptures. Being of good cheer should be easy, so why is it one of the hardest commandments to follow?
Sharing the gospel can be a difficult thing in our world today, but the Lord gives us an "ensample" in D&C 68:1-5.
Why would God allow an imperfect man to lead his true church? Some folks have the hardest time with this idea. Hopefully today's message in D&C 67 will shed a little light on that and help us love these imperfect men even more.
You're probably familiar with "Jeopardy" - where you see the answers and have to come up with the questions? Welcome to D&C 66 Jeopardy... the William E. McLellin edition.
For a short section, D&C 65 is packed with all kinds of awesomeness! This church is rolling forth like crazy - let's share it with the world!
When tithing becomes about money, people struggle with it. Tithing has nothing to do with money, but it is very much about the heart and a willing mind.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click her
D&C 64:5-11 are so amazing and instructive! Forgiveness most definitely requires both the heart, a wiling mind, and the compassionate help of Jesus Christ.
D&C 64 is an amazing section about what an “omni-generous” and loving God requires of us…a lesson that has changed and continues to change me.
Today's “T” for Latter-day Saints could arguably be the most important of them all and there plenty of examples to show how important it is to have a “thankful heart” in all things.
I think if we really grasped this simple “T” word in D&C 62:3, there would never be those awkward silence moments in fast and testimony meeting ever again.
Latter-day “T” number 3 affects all of us on a daily basis. I love the truth taught when you combine D&C 61:39 and D&C 62:1 together.
Today's “T” for Latter-day Saints, is something that can really put a wrench into a lot of important things in our life if we don't make peace with it and learn how to properly manage it. ⏰If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
This week's lessons in D&C 60-63 all have to do with the letter “T” and the first one is one that hopefully we all can relate to - especially when it comes to our fears of sharing the gospel with the others. If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
Our concluding lesson for a Zion people this week to “bloom where you are planted” can help us when the Sabbath day rolls around and you're not sure what is ok or not ok to do.
In order to “bloom where you are planted”, it is important to understand the role of commandments in our lives and how a loving Heavenly Father gives them to us so we can grow and be free.
Lesson 3 for a Zion people to help us is so crucial to “bloom where we are planted”. Knowing that God has a perfect memory makes the invitation to repent hit a little different. If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
One of the best ways to build Zion in a wilderness is to “bloom where you are planted”. This week, we'll point out 5 lessons to build Zion by blooming. This first one is one that we all can relate to.
Lesson #2 for a Zion People helps us learn a great lesson from the majestic...sloth!
The concept of Zion is something that a lot of God's children have chased after over the last several thousand years. It order for it to really work, there is one word that has to be involved...and it might not be what you think.
How do we as members of the church feel about “the cross”? We respect the cross. We respect it enough not to drag it around, but to “take it up”. It reminds me of all of the work that @johnhiltoniii has done lately helping us understand more about the importance of the cross in our lives.
D&C 55 is short, but is to a wonderful man whose life and example has impacted us in many ways...especially when we crack open the hymnbook.
People fascinate me and reading about them in the scriptures makes me want to know more about them. D&C 52 has 34 men mentioned by name and the Lord teaches them a valuable principle about missionary work. Oh, and #johnbytheway should appreciate this lesson.
