Welcome to The BOM-BITES Come Follow Me Podcast! Each weekday, we share a short (generally less than 10 minutes) episode to help you "feast upon the words ONE BITE AT A TIME" as you study Come Follow Me as an individual or as a family. If you’d like to s
As the Lord is gathering together Zion's Camp, there are a few important and timeless principles that he wants them to know before they go.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here!
In preparation for this week of CFM study, I want to jump back to one of the Savior's little known parables in D&C 101 that I call “The parable of the empty field” or simply “The Parable of Why?”.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here!
D&C 101 is a wonderful section with a lot going on (hence the almost 15 minute episode today), but trials and adversity are such universal topics, that when they happen - one can't help to ask the question “WHY?”If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here!
D&C 100 is great for anyone who struggles with the balance of raising a family and well, pretty much everything else…
When you see a phrase like “waiting patiently” in the scriptures - those can often be two very frustrating words and yet they may be two of the most instructive words when going through our trials.
When persecution comes as a member of the church (and it will), keep in mind that you are in fantastic company and the Lord will help you even as he helped them.
This week we start to see some of the most intense persecution of the Saints. Why did the Missourians hate the “Mormons” so much? With a little bit of context, we find that it was all about R.E.S.P.E.C.T.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here!
We already know that the temple is full of symbolism, but D&C 95 & 97 not only teach about how to build the temple but also can be very symbolic of building our lives.
The early Saints were fascinated with the concept of Zion. There are lots of words and adjectives to describe Zion…including one word in D&C 97 that appears on the surface to be a little out of place
With all the great stuff in D&C 94-95 and 97, I really have never really done anything special with D&C 96….until today. There is a very relevant principle for our day here and I hope you enjoy it…well, sort of…
God loves us SO much! More than we can comprehend. In D&C 95, we see the love of God in a major way…and sadly, most of us don't always see this as a manifestation of his love. ❤️If you'd like to view the video for this week, click here!
The Lord uses a really good pattern to not only show the early Saints how to build a city, but the there is a lesson in D&C 94 for us on how to build our lives. If you'd like to view the video for this week, click here!
Right after beautiful lessons on Christ, grace, light, and truth - the Lord gives us some extremely relevant council on what we do with those lessons with our own families.
Any time you study about light and truth in the scriptures, it's going to be a great day!
Imagine what it would be like to try and teach the gospel to someone…who doesn't have a knowledge of who Jesus Christ is. D&C 93:1-10 can us help see why he has to be the foundation of all that we teach.
I learned a very valuable principle the first time I seriously studied D&C 93…and I'll share it with you in today's BOM-BITES episode!
I love D&C 92! Only TWO massive verses but in them is one of my favorite gospel principles to share to a world that needs a bit more “life” to it!
D&C 91 is kind of an obscure section with an underlying principle that is very relevant for our day. Thanks to @keithaerekson and his book “Real vs. Rumor” for the inspiration on this one.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
Two women are mentioned by name in the D&C - both are amazing, but one of them is not as well known! Let's change that today! Let's make Vienna Jaques famous!
What a time to live in, right? So grateful to have “oracles” on the earth to guide us in these crazy latter days!
How many Word of Wisdom lessons do you think you've had in your life? And how many of those were about behavior rather than focusing on principles and promises? If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
D&C 88:117-126 might be some of my most marked verses in my scriptures because they are so applicable and relevant to establishing our homes as places of learning and faith. If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
I really believe that one of the big responsibilities of a member of the church, regardless of how comfortable you are in doing it….is to “teach one another the doctrine of the kingdom”. As you diligently do this, his grace will attend us.
D&C 88:62-68 can be so helpful to someone who feels like they have drifted far from God and needs help finding their way back.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
When it comes to finding verses that teach you using words like “God”, “light”, “truth”, “glory”, D&C 88:1-50 is fantastic!
In times of war (global, local, or personal) it's so nice to know that someone pretty powerful has your back.
How do you stand in holy places when there aren't any holy places around you? D&C 87 provides some wonderful counsel.
Jesus' parable of the wheat and tares is a tough one understand at times. Hopefully our take on it today from D&C 86 helps a bit.
The Old Testament story of Uzzah “steadying the ark of God” has always been a crazy one. Hopefully D&C 85:8 sheds some light on it.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
Just a simple message today from D&C 85:6 reminding us of the importance of learning how to #hearhim.
I decided to take a little different approach to D&C 85:1-2 with a familiar topic for members of the church.
Whether it is serving faithfully in callings or as you step out of your comfort zones in faith, the Lord prepares angels to bear you up and help you.
In the midst of a revelation about the temple and priesthood, the Lord lovingly calls out the Saints for something they are omitting from their lives. There's a great message for us here as well!If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
The Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood (D&C 84:33-41) is such a great reminder to all of us that God keeps his promises to all those who are faithful and magnify their callings. If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
Every priesthood holder has something pretty amazing in common with Moses and it's found in D&C 84:6-16.
The priesthood, as explained in D&C 84 is pretty amazing and I believe it gives us a little taste of what it is like to be like God.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
The whole idea of the United Order and the law of consecration is really found in D&C 82:18-19. When this is our aim, I think we really start to get an idea what Zion really is.
To any of our friends who either sin on a regular basis (all of us) and those who struggle with dieting (many of us) - the message in D&C 82:7 is for you.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
D&C 82:10 has always been a favorite verse of mine. But like most scriptures, the more you study - the more your understanding of that principle evolves and you grow to appreciate it even more. Hopefully today's episode will help with that.
Ah, Spider-Man…one of my favorite scripture heroes.
I'd love to meet so many people from Church History! One in particular is Jesse Gause. I'd LOVE to know more about his story - most of which is a mystery to us. But the counsel and promises originally meant for him in D&C 81 can apply so much to all of us.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
When it comes to missionary service, sometimes we got so excitedly caught up on the “where” that we tend to forget and almost devalue the what and the why. D&C 80 addresses those pretty well.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
In D&C 79, we get a small peek into one of the more effective missionaries in Church History and how his faithful service truly saw him “crowned with sheaves”
March of 1832 was a rough period for the Saints, particularly for Joseph and his family. D&C 78 can be just the right medicine for anyone who has unwanted adversity and to be reminded that “the kingdom is yours and the blessing thereof are yours the riches of eternity are yours”.
D&C 77 is a pretty cool section. Not just in its content but in the underlying principle of how to approach our loving Heavenly Father with questions. The phrase “What are we to understand?” might be one of the best repeated statements here regarding how to approach our sincere questions.
Just a quick overview of D&C 77-80 showing the Lord's purposes in creating the United Firm and other “earthly things” that are still designed to bless our lives and “lead us along” the way.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
In my opinion, there is one major difference between the Terrestrial and Celestial Kingdoms…and D&C 76 describes it well.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
Well, here it is - the Celestial Kingdom in all its glory, as found in D&C 76! And what if I told you that I believe that our chances of getting there are actually pretty high?!? ☀️If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
The biggest part of D&C 76 is the understanding of the three degrees of glory, so today we start with the lowest - welcome to the Telestial Kingdom! If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
The fall of Lucifer - a son of the morning, along with those who followed him was definitely a tough “loss” for our Father. Perhaps there are some things to learn from them from D&C 76.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
Here it is…D&C 76 - one of the most important sections to our understanding of God's Plan, simply known as “The Vision”.If you'd like to view the video that goes with podcast, click here
