This sermon explores the Christian doctrine of the fall of humanity as depicted in Genesis 3. The speaker discusses how the serpent, identified as Satan, uses half-truths to tempt Adam and Eve, leading to their disobedience and the introduction of sin and death into the world. The sermon highlights that the fall resulted in the spiritual death and alienation of humanity from God, and it concludes by reflecting on God's merciful approach to Adam and Eve after their sin, posing the question, "Where are you?" Adam and Eve chose to disobey God, even though they knew it would lead to death, the Second Adam, the Lamb of God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, practiced total submission to God's Word in the garden of Gethsemane, knowing full well it would lead to His death on a Roman cross…a cross that He did not deserve…but a cross that would break the curse of sin that began so long ago when Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit.Support the showThanks for listening! The story of Adam and Even falls into tragedy when they take matters into their own hands. What started as a paradise in the Garden, has become a nightmare of blame, anger, and fear. How can we find our way when we face the same situations? More importantly, how does Jesus give us new hope in the midst of being human?
Genesis 3 is one of the most pivotal chapters in the entire Bible—it tells the story of humanity's fall, God's curse on creation, and the first promise of redemption. In this episode of Rooted Together, we unpack the heartbreaking moment when sin enters the world and explore how God responds with justice, mercy, and a powerful glimpse of the Gospel.#GenesisBibleStudy#RootedTogetherPodcast#TheFallOfMan#Genesis3#BibleTruth#FirstGospel#ChristianPodcast#BiblicalTeaching#RedemptionStory#HopeInJesus#SinAndGrace#GodsMercy#BibleStudyPodcast#FaithOverFear#GospelFoundations#ScriptureSpeaks#FallAndRedemption#TruthFromTheBeginning#JesusInGenesis#RootedInChrist
We all feel the ache of a broken world. Genesis 3 shows us why—and more importantly, how God responds. Only Christianity gives us both raw honesty and real hope: Jesus pursues us, promises victory, and provides covering through the cross.
This excerpt from a sermon explores the problem of evil as presented in Genesis chapter 3. The speaker identifies the serpent in the Garden of Eden as a representation of evil and addresses the difficult question of the origin of evil and the serpent's presence in a perfect creation. Drawing on other biblical texts, specifically Revelation, Ezekiel, and Isaiah, the sermon identifies the serpent with Satan, a fallen angel who rebelled against God out of pride. While acknowledging the limitations of human understanding regarding God's allowance of evil, the sermon emphasizes the limitations of Satan's power, which is ultimately subject to God's sovereignty. The core message is that despite the reality of evil, Jesus Christ has overcome the world and offers freedom from the tyranny of the evil one for those who believe in him. In this sermon, Simon Pranaitis examines the implications of the Fall as described in Genesis 3, emphasizing how sin has distorted God's original design for work, money, and relationships. The implications of the Fall include death, idolatry, deceit, labor's curse, and broken relationships. Pranaitis points to Christ as the Redeemer who restores what sin has marred. Understanding the implications of the Fall is essential for forming a biblical worldview on money. ★ Support this podcast ★
How have we lost Eden? How can we start again?
Doug Horchak discusses Genesis 3:22-24—“Then the LORD God said, ‘Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever'—therefore the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.”
Sin isn't just breaking rules—it's rejecting God's design for life. This week, we explore how deception, desire, and destructive opportunity unravel the beauty of God's plan and why we need something greater to restore us.

Adam and Eve lived in a world untouched by pain, guilt, or fear. They walked with God. They knew only the good of God's creation and His will for them. But in Genesis 3, a voice enters the garden. We are introduced to one who would be our Accuser, the enemy of God and God's people. The woman considers the serpent's question, “Did God actually say..?” And for the first time ever she seeks to fulfill her own desires rather than God's will. She eats. Her husband who stood by and did nothing, does something worse: he also eats. And with that one act, we learn the answer to the questions, “Why do bad things happen? Why is there sin and death in the world?” The Rev. Thomas Eckstein, pastor of Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Genesis 3. Genesis isn't just the start of the Bible; it's the foundation of everything. Creation, sin, judgment, grace, covenant, and promise all take root in this remarkable book. The stories are ancient, but their truths are eternal. In this new series from Thy Strong Word, Pastor Phil Booe and his guests walk verse by verse through Genesis, exploring how God reveals Himself as Creator, Judge, and Redeemer. From the grandeur of the cosmos to the struggles of ordinary families, Genesis introduces us to a God who speaks, acts, and keeps His promises. So, whether you've read it a hundred times or are just now cracking it open for a serious look, this series will help you see Genesis with fresh eyes—and a deeper faith. Thy Strong Word, hosted by Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Luverne, MN, reveals the light of our salvation in Christ through study of God's Word, breaking our darkness with His redeeming light. Each weekday, two pastors fix our eyes on Jesus by considering Holy Scripture, verse by verse, in order to be strengthened in the Word and be equipped to faithfully serve in our daily vocations. Genesis 3 reveals Satan's timeless strategies for temptation, showing how he creates doubt about God's Word through subtle distortion and questioning. The enemy works by making God seem distant, exaggerating His restrictions, and casting doubt on His goodness. When we question God's Word, we become vulnerable to diminishing His character and softening sin's consequences. The key to standing firm against these tactics lies in knowing Scripture thoroughly, being discerning about teaching, trusting Christ daily, and seeking support from Christian community.
This audio recording captures a sermon delivered on the first day of Holy Week, connecting the biblical narratives of the Garden of Eden and the Garden of Gethsemane. The speaker contrasts Adam, the first man, with Jesus, the second Adam, highlighting their responses to temptation, confrontation, and intercession within these pivotal garden settings. The sermon explores how Adam's disobedience brought sin into the world, while Jesus's obedience and sacrifice in Gethsemane offer redemption for humanity. Ultimately, it frames the story of the two gardens as the central narrative of redemption, urging listeners to reflect on Christ's love and sacrifice during Holy Week.Support the showThanks for listening! In a world that glorifies limitlessness, we find ourselves overwhelmed by endless information, constant connectivity, and the pressure to do it all. But what if the problem isn't that we have limits—what if the problem is that we keep resisting them? In Genesis 2 & 3, we are reminded that true freedom isn't found in limitlessness, but in trusting the One who designed us with limits for our good.Catch the sermon on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or bridge.tv/sermons.Support the show
