Have you ever wondered what the term "total depravity" means? Or feel an unsettling sense of discord in this world begging the question "what is going on?" Why is this happening? These sort of questions inevitably lead us to The Fall, where sin entered the perfect world God created, where doubt and alienation found it's way to the human mind, where separation from God began. But amidst all this, we still find hope.
This sermon focuses on Genesis 3, exploring the consequences of the fall of humanity and God's subsequent judgments. It systematically addresses the curses placed upon the serpent, the woman, and the man, detailing the specific pains and hardships each faces as a result of their sin. However, the speaker emphasizes that within these judgments, there is also an immediate revelation of God's plan for redemption, highlighted by the promise of the "seed of the woman" who will ultimately overcome the serpent. The sermon concludes by urging listeners to acknowledge human sin and suffering while choosing to be grateful for God's enduring mercy and the hope offered through Christ. The enemy doesn't want to lead an outright revolt. But he does want to get a crack in the door. Thats enough for the truth to come under attack and for us to fall. But Jesus!

Genesis 3
At the darkest moment in human history, God gave the first glimpse of the gospel. In Genesis 3:20–24, we see Adam's response of faith, God's gracious provision of a covering, and a guarded way that points to Jesus Christ. This sermon explores how fig leaves, substitutionary sacrifice, and banishment from Eden all foreshadow the cross of Christ and the righteousness we receive through faith. Discover how this often-overlooked passage reveals the heart of the gospel and transforms how we live today.
This sermon explores the Christian doctrine of the fall of humanity as depicted in Genesis 3. The speaker discusses how the serpent, identified as Satan, uses half-truths to tempt Adam and Eve, leading to their disobedience and the introduction of sin and death into the world. The sermon highlights that the fall resulted in the spiritual death and alienation of humanity from God, and it concludes by reflecting on God's merciful approach to Adam and Eve after their sin, posing the question, "Where are you?" The gospel promise in Genesis 3:15 reveals God's plan of redemption through Jesus Christ, who paid the ultimate cost to defeat Satan and bring salvation. Believers are called to live in the victory of Christ, relying on His power and grace, and to recognize their role in God's redemptive story.
The fall of mankind in Genesis 3 brought significant changes to human existence, particularly affecting relationships and work. For women, the impact manifested in two primary areas: increased pain in childbearing and motherhood, and fundamental changes in marriage dynamics. These changes extended beyond physical challenges to include emotional and relational struggles. For men, the consequences centered on work and provision, with the ground being cursed and labor becoming toilsome. Death entered as the ultimate consequence of sin. Despite these severe consequences, God's grace remained evident throughout the judgment. Children continue to bring joy, marriage can still reflect God's design, and the earth continues to produce food. Most significantly, Christ's sacrifice at Calvary provides the ultimate solution to these consequences. By taking the curse upon Himself - enduring suffering, wearing the crown of thorns, and tasting death - Christ opened the way for redemption. Through faith in Him, we can find our true identity and purpose, transforming how we approach our relationships and work.
Adam and Eve chose to disobey God, even though they knew it would lead to death, the Second Adam, the Lamb of God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, practiced total submission to God's Word in the garden of Gethsemane, knowing full well it would lead to His death on a Roman cross…a cross that He did not deserve…but a cross that would break the curse of sin that began so long ago when Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit.Support the showThanks for listening! The story of Adam and Even falls into tragedy when they take matters into their own hands. What started as a paradise in the Garden, has become a nightmare of blame, anger, and fear. How can we find our way when we face the same situations? More importantly, how does Jesus give us new hope in the midst of being human?

This excerpt from a sermon explores the problem of evil as presented in Genesis chapter 3. The speaker identifies the serpent in the Garden of Eden as a representation of evil and addresses the difficult question of the origin of evil and the serpent's presence in a perfect creation. Drawing on other biblical texts, specifically Revelation, Ezekiel, and Isaiah, the sermon identifies the serpent with Satan, a fallen angel who rebelled against God out of pride. While acknowledging the limitations of human understanding regarding God's allowance of evil, the sermon emphasizes the limitations of Satan's power, which is ultimately subject to God's sovereignty. The core message is that despite the reality of evil, Jesus Christ has overcome the world and offers freedom from the tyranny of the evil one for those who believe in him. In this sermon, Simon Pranaitis examines the implications of the Fall as described in Genesis 3, emphasizing how sin has distorted God's original design for work, money, and relationships. The implications of the Fall include death, idolatry, deceit, labor's curse, and broken relationships. Pranaitis points to Christ as the Redeemer who restores what sin has marred. Understanding the implications of the Fall is essential for forming a biblical worldview on money. ★ Support this podcast ★
Doug Horchak discusses Genesis 3:22-24—“Then the LORD God said, ‘Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever'—therefore the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.”
Sin isn't just breaking rules—it's rejecting God's design for life. This week, we explore how deception, desire, and destructive opportunity unravel the beauty of God's plan and why we need something greater to restore us.

Adam and Eve lived in a world untouched by pain, guilt, or fear. They walked with God. They knew only the good of God's creation and His will for them. But in Genesis 3, a voice enters the garden. We are introduced to one who would be our Accuser, the enemy of God and God's people. The woman considers the serpent's question, “Did God actually say..?” And for the first time ever she seeks to fulfill her own desires rather than God's will. She eats. Her husband who stood by and did nothing, does something worse: he also eats. And with that one act, we learn the answer to the questions, “Why do bad things happen? Why is there sin and death in the world?” The Rev. Thomas Eckstein, pastor of Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Genesis 3. Genesis isn't just the start of the Bible; it's the foundation of everything. Creation, sin, judgment, grace, covenant, and promise all take root in this remarkable book. The stories are ancient, but their truths are eternal. In this new series from Thy Strong Word, Pastor Phil Booe and his guests walk verse by verse through Genesis, exploring how God reveals Himself as Creator, Judge, and Redeemer. From the grandeur of the cosmos to the struggles of ordinary families, Genesis introduces us to a God who speaks, acts, and keeps His promises. So, whether you've read it a hundred times or are just now cracking it open for a serious look, this series will help you see Genesis with fresh eyes—and a deeper faith. Thy Strong Word, hosted by Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Luverne, MN, reveals the light of our salvation in Christ through study of God's Word, breaking our darkness with His redeeming light. Each weekday, two pastors fix our eyes on Jesus by considering Holy Scripture, verse by verse, in order to be strengthened in the Word and be equipped to faithfully serve in our daily vocations. Scripture: Genesis 3:7-24 Key Takeaways: + The Ruin “The effects of sin touch all of creation; no created thing is in principle untouched by the corrosive effects of the fall. Whether we look at societal structures such as the state of the family, or cultural pursuits such as art or technology, or bodily functions such as sexuality or eating, or anything at all within the wide scope of creation, we discover that the good handiwork of God has been drawn into the sphere of human mutiny against God. ‘The whole creation,' Paul writes in a profound passage in Romans, ‘has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time' (Romans 8:22).” – Creation Regained, Albert Wolters. - Loss of Perfection - Loss of Peace - Loss of Presence The Restoration - The Search - The Seed - The Skins Revelation 21:1–5 Revelation 22:1–6
