The Implanted Word is the teaching ministry of Pastor Bill Gehm. Pastor Bill is the senior pastor of Grace Church in Amarillo, Texas. Grace Church is a Calvary Chapel, and pastor Bill takes a verse by verse approach to preaching the Bible. We pray that you are encouraged in your faith as you listen to God's Word.

What do you do when every voice in your life seems to say that all hope is lost? In today's message, Pastor Bill speaks to those who feel ready to put their own names on the verses of despair. You could be facing a situation that feels overwhelming, yet the presence of Christ changes the entire narrative. Choosing to look toward Jesus ensures that no matter how dire the circumstances appear, there is always a reason to hold on. When you trust in the Lord, the story is never truly over.

It's easy to feel secure when things are moving in your favor, but challenges are an inevitable part of life. Today, Pastor Bill explains that facing opposition does not necessarily mean something is wrong; it simply means the journey has become more difficult. You might find yourself at the peak of a situation, much like a roller coaster, realizing that the descent is about to begin. Choosing to hold on through the turbulence allows you to develop a resilience that is impossible to find in calm waters.

In today's message, Pastor Bill explores the tension between the sovereignty of God and the responsibility of man. You might find that while God's word is certain, He often works through the sermons, suggestions, and decisions of people on the ground. This overlap of God's authority and your personal effort is a fundamental part of the Christian walk. Choosing to act faithfully does not diminish God's power; instead, it acknowledges that He is the one directing your steps. God is always in control.

If you have a Biblical marriage, you can expect great blessing and fulfilment in that relationship – not just from each other, but from Jesus, who's the source of life and joy. But as Pastor Bill will warn in today's message, you can also expect this world to try to tear you down and rip you apart. This world has cheapened marriage to the point where even many believers have bought into destructive misconceptions about it. We need to build our relationships based on our Creator's design – not our own.

If a flock of sheep turns on their shepherd, attacking him and rebelling against his guidance, it won't be long till he finds himself a new flock. It's truly sad to see how some pastors are treated by their congregation. Of course, while pastors do stand to a higher account, they are human in need of the grace of God. As Pastor Bill will point out in today's message, it's amazing the way God can use a church that's united in supporting their pastor and stepping into God's call for their congregation.

It's heartbreaking to see the things that young people face today. From early on, they're being confronted with misleading information from all sides, especially when it comes to sexuality. We live in a society that tells them anything goes, whatever feels good to them in the moment is perfectly acceptable. As Pastor Bill examines the Song of Solomon, we'll be reminded that God has a beautiful design for this part of our lives, and the Church needs to come alongside and provide grace and guidance.

As we approach the conclusion of this poetic, sometimes graphic story of love between a young man and woman, Pastor Bill will draw our attention to the relationship between God and ourselves. This is a love story as well. God loved us before we were born, and He's been scheming over His plan to redeem us and bring us into intimacy with Him since mankind fell into sin, maybe even before. Will we accept His love, or will we snub our Creator and reject His invitation into eternal life?

Does jealousy belong in a relationship? It's often seen as toxic and unhealthy, and those are often appropriate assessments when it's caused by distrust or pure selfishness. But, as we see demonstrated in God's relationship with us, jealousy is nearly inseparable from any relationship. As Pastor Bill will point out in today's message, when you feel love for someone, you want to be with them. Anything or anyone that stands in the way of that will naturally ignite jealousy in your heart.

Weddings are beautiful. It's a celebration of two becoming one – the relationship God designed man and woman for. It's more than just about the physical union that happens on the wedding night; it's bigger and deeper than that, but that is a part of what's being celebrated. As Pastor Bill continues our study of the Song of Solomon today, we'll continue to witness the love story of our couple as it unfolds. No couple is perfect, but when you follow God's design for marriage, it's beautiful and free of shame.

If you let that truth sink in, it'll overwhelm your heart. As we continue our study of the Song of Solomon, we'll encounter a PG-13 description of the intimacy between a husband and wife. These two were passionate about each other, and we can see that in the words the husband uses to describe his wife. Their love is strong. As Pastor Bill will point out in today's message, Jesus looks at His Church with an even more intense love and passion. He's purified us on the cross and desires spiritual intimacy with us.

Just a heads up: today's message deals with some matters of a mature nature as we explore the Song of Solomon with Pastor Bill. God designed marriage, and it's beautiful. Every element of it. Two become one on emotional, spiritual, and physical levels. Humanity has taken this beautiful intimacy and drastically cheapened it. They've taken something that honors God and connects two people made in His image and perverted it into something entirely centered around serving self.

Everything you need to go through life is found in Christ. Even when you fight against the odds, you can trust in God. When the unknown comes, and you fear it, you can find comfort in the Spirit. In today's message, Pastor Bill is going to point you to the Holy Spirit as your Source of guidance, strength, and comfort. Life isn't guaranteed to be easy when you give your life to Christ, but you'll never have to go through your trials alone. He's always there, and always waiting for you to just trust in Him.

The closer you get to Jesus, the more you'll start living like Him. It should be evident to people around you that there's something different about you. It starts with the Holy Spirit working inside of you to change your heart, your habits, and your focus. In today's message, Pastor Bill's going to assure you that the peace and joy you get from following Jesus and being filled with the Holy Spirit is unlike anything else there is. True safety, confidence, and joy are found only in Him.

The Holy Spirit has been given to you if you've given your life to Christ. When you get distracted from God or lose sight of where you should be, ask Him to guide you. If you've fallen into sin or forgotten the joys of God's promises, ask His Spirit to fill you to overflowing and show you how to get back on track. In today's message, Pastor Bill is going to encourage you to remember Jesus in the good times and the bad, so you never stray away from where He wants you to be, where the Father's blessings flow.

Reconciliation leads to intimacy restored in a marriage when there's a problem that arises. To work through those times, communication needs to remain open, and the problems need to be worked through hand in hand. So it is with sin and temptation in your walk with Jesus. As Pastor Bill will talk about in today's message, you can get through those hard times and overcome the things that separate you from God by bringing them to Him. Ask Him for forgiveness, and talk with Him, and the victory will come.

As a believer and part of the church of God, you're the bride of Christ. Someday, He'll come back and bring you up into Heaven with Him to spend eternity there, united forever. Today, Pastor Bill's going to compare the wife desperately looking for her husband to the church that needs to desperately seek Jesus. Every day, you should be spending intimate time alone with Him, growing closer to Him, and getting to know Him. It's how a healthy marriage looks, too, when a husband and wife grow in their love.

The Bible says that the husband is the head of the household, and wives should honor the husband and submit to him. It's not about one being better or worse than the other, but about a peaceful and loving relationship. The husband should protect his family and love his wife as Christ loved the church. Today, Pastor Bill is going to compare that marriage model to Christ being the husband to His church – the believers. We're to submit to Him, follow Him, and let His love pour over us every day.

Just like a marriage takes time and effort and intimacy to grow, it can be hurt when those things are neglected. It's a daily duty to do the deeds that draw you closer together in your relationship. As Pastor Bill will share in today's message, you need to treat your relationship with Jesus like a marriage, too – because it is. You need to take the time to tend that relationship. Spend time with Him every day, learning about Him and praying and reading His Word. That's how your relationship with Him truly can grow.

Intimacy is part of marriage. It's more than just a legal union. It's more than just emotional. It's also physical. It's an expected part of any healthy marriage. In today's message with Pastor Bill, you'll get to see how that relates to the relationship between Christ and the church, too. Do you spend time alone with Jesus daily to grow in your intimacy with Him? Is He part of every area of your life, from when you wake up to when you go back to sleep? That's what a healthy relationship with Him looks like.

A marriage is the union between two people. A man and a woman, united in Christ and living out their faith together. In today's message, Pastor Bill wants you to see the parallels between Biblical marriage and your walk with Christ. It's loving the other more than yourself. You're to love Christ above all. He loves you so much that He gave His life for you. It's being united as one, just like you'll be united with Jesus forever the day you finally leave this earth and get to enter Heaven with Him.

A marriage based on Biblical principles that's modeled after what God's Word says is a blessing to both husband and wife. Their love for each other can grow as their mutual love for the Lord grows first. In today's message, Pastor Bill is going to walk you through how the marriage described in Song of Solomon is like the marriage of Christ and His church. It's approved by God. It's full of love. It's a beautiful thing that brings blessings to all those involved. It's truly the best way to model a marriage.

As you read the Song of Solomon, it seems like it's simply a love letter going back and forth between husband and wife. But it's much more than that. It not only describes two people of faith in love, but it also describes how much Jesus loves you. Just like Song of Solomon describes the beautiful things about a wife, Jesus washed your sins away so that everything that's left is the beauty. As Pastor Bill will explain today, it's the beauty that Jesus will see in you in Heaven, because all your sins are forgiven.

If you've given your life to Jesus Christ, someday you'll be united with Him in heaven like a wife being united forever with her husband. And He loves you just as much, and even more. As Pastor Bill will point out in today's message, Jesus loved you so much that He gave His life for you on the cross, so you could be forgiven of your sins and spend eternity with Him in Heaven. It's the greatest love anyone could have for you. Nothing compares, and it isn't dependent on anything you've done in the past.

Throughout our lives, we all reach a point where we must make a decision: do we continue down the path the world has set for us, or do we follow Jesus? Do we chase temporary pleasures that lead to destruction, or step into the light with Christ, which leads to everlasting life? That's why in today's message, Pastor Bill reminds us that without Jesus, there is no other way into eternal life. As Jesus says, He is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him.

In life, we find ourselves clinging to Jesus when things get hard. Like children afraid of the dark, we hold tightly to Him, and that's exactly what we should do. But sometimes we fall into the trap of thinking that because Jesus is always there, we can place ourselves in dangerous situations, relying on His grace to rescue us when we knowingly sin. So today, Pastor Bill reminds us that following Jesus means more than depending on His grace; it means living in obedience to His teachings and staying by His side.

In marriage, we often look at our spouse and think, “They're the only one for us.” Yet we know that many marriages today still end in divorce. Why is that? Pastor Bill explains that there can be many reasons, but one of the most dangerous is wandering eyes. When Christ isn't at the center of a marriage, it becomes easier for our attention to drift toward other things or other people. So today, Pastor Bill encourages you to keep Christ at the center of your marriage and guard your heart from distractions.

As parents, we love our children more than anything in this world. We'd take away their pain if you could, just so they wouldn't have to endure it. That deep love we have for our sons and daughters gives us a glimpse of the love God has for His creation. He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins, all because of His love for us. So today, Pastor Bill encourages you to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and receive the loving sacrifice He made for you on the cross.

Husbands, you live in a dangerous world. At times, even when you think you're okay, the enemy will use anything to ruin the things God has given you, especially your marriage. That's why, in today's message, Pastor Bill encourages you to keep your eyes focused on your marriage and on your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When you keep Jesus at the center of your marriage, you can trust the Holy Spirit to guide you, protect you, and keep you grounded in Christ. Trust Jesus in every area of your life.

As Christians, we sometimes don't surround ourselves with the right company. Our closest influences may be people who don't follow Christ, people whose lifestyles and values run contrary to the Word of God. Then, when a season of hardship comes, it's their advice we lean on. And at times, it leads us further away from God. That's why today, Pastor Bill encourages you to surround yourself with God-fearing believers who will not only support you but also help guide you closer to Christ.

If you had the chance to meet Jesus today, what would you say to Him? Many people wouldn't know where to begin because they don't truly know Him. But the amazing thing is, you don't have to wonder what that moment would be like… You can know Him today. You can enter a personal relationship with the King of Kings and the God of the universe, but it begins with one decision. Today, Pastor Bill encourages you to seek Jesus Christ, begin a relationship with Him, and allow Him to guide your life.

We live in a world that's increasingly sexualized. It's in our music, on our TVs, in the books we read, and even in the schools our children attend. Yet the world's idea of what is good often isn't what the Bible teaches. That's why Pastor Bill reminds us that our hope isn't found in following the world, but in placing our faith in Jesus Christ. He came to pay the price for our sins, to take our place on the cross, and to do what we could never do on our own. The question is: will we trust the world, or will we trust Christ?

Often in life, we grow confident in our own abilities. We work hard, provide for our families, pursue education, and rely on our skills to get by. But there are things in this life we simply cannot do on our own. No matter how many good deeds we do or how moral a life we try to live, we cannot earn eternal life by our own merit. That's why Jesus came to this earth, to pay the price for our sins. And today, Pastor Bill encourages you to let Jesus into your life, receive His gift of grace, and find eternal life in Him.

As we go through this world, we can sometimes forget that our purpose on this earth isn't simply to suffer. We weren't created to be tormented or discarded. God created us with a purpose. And along with that purpose, God has given us His promises: to always be with us, to guide us through every storm, and to offer us everlasting life if we choose Him. So today, Pastor Bill reminds you that the trials you're going through are only temporary. Choose Jesus and receive His gift of grace.

As we walk through this world, it's easy to forget how much God blesses us every day. Every heartbeat, every breath, and every morning we wake up are all gifts from God. So if you're listening to today's message, Pastor Bill wants you to know that if you don't know Jesus, every moment is an opportunity… to enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ and to accept His gift of Grace. All you need to do is reach out to Him, no matter where you are. Jesus will find you and enter your heart if you let Him.

When you're new to Christianity, there's so much you don't know. Many people look at the Christian life and believe they have to fix themselves before coming to Christ. They think they must be perfect or know the entire Bible before they can follow Jesus. But the Gospel is far simpler than that. It's believing that Jesus died for your sins, that He lived a perfect and sinless life, and that He rose again. That's why Pastor Bill reminds you that you can begin a relationship with Jesus today - all you have to do is seek Him.

If someone invested in every stock they could find without research or strategy, we'd probably call that reckless. But today, Pastor Bill says that when it comes to God's Word, you should be willing to be a little reckless. Don't overanalyze every conversation or wait for perfect conditions. Share it freely and widely. You're not responsible for the outcome—that's the Spirit's work. Your responsibility is simple: sow the truth and trust God to grow it.

We've all seen a video go viral. Within hours, it spreads everywhere—shared, reposted, viewed by millions. It's on all social media platforms. Today, Pastor Bill says there's something far more important meant to be spread: God's Word. Your role is simple—scatter the seed faithfully. You're not responsible for how people receive it or where it ultimately takes root. That part belongs to God. Your task is to share it boldly and trust Him with the results. So, go spread the word!

Warning signs are everywhere — a strange noise under your car's hood, sudden chest pain, a water stain on the ceiling, a burning smell. We often ignore them, but paying attention to these warnings can avoid a lot of trouble down the road. Today, Pastor Bill reminds you there are spiritual warning signs too: neglected disciplines, half-hearted prayers, and ignoring the Spirit's prompting. Don't brush them off. But heeding them can lead to big spiritual payoffs.

Have you ever seen children in a toy store—excited by everything, focused on nothing? Bright, flashy toys pull them in every direction. They bounce from one aisle to the next, never settling. Today, Pastor Bill reminds you that you can be the same way. God has given you many good gifts, but those blessings can easily distract you from Him. It's often not hardship that pulls you away, but comfort and abundance. Are your eyes on Jesus, or the things of this world?

Have you ever seen one of those towering structures built from playing cards? It can take hours—sometimes even days—to stack thousands of cards into a fragile masterpiece. Yet remove just one card from a key position, and everything collapses. Today, Pastor Bill offers a sobering reminder: your life is like one of those houses of cards: a single careless decision can undo years of faithfulness. So, guard your choices. What you build over time can be lost in a moment.

Have you ever wished for more? More sweets, more space, more car, more money, more recognition, more love? Today, Pastor Bill reminds you that even if you gained everything you ever wanted, it still wouldn't satisfy. King Solomon had more wealth, success, and pleasure than anyone of his time, yet he concluded it was all meaningless. In the end, what truly matters isn't how much you accumulate, but what you do for others—and what Jesus has done for you.

Some choices seem obvious. Fruit or candy. Keep scrolling or go to bed. Say something sharp—or hold your tongue. But sometimes what feels like the better option isn't. Today, Pastor Bill highlights a surprising choice: Would you rather have Jesus standing beside you, or the Holy Spirit living within you? Most of us would instinctively choose Jesus in the flesh. Yet Jesus Himself said it was better for Him to go, so the Spirit could come. So, which would you choose—and why?

Have you ever watched old TV footage from decades ago? Before high definition, everything looked blurry and grainy—like you were peering through a foggy lens. You almost want to rub your eyes to make the picture clearer. Today, Pastor Bill says that celebrating Easter without Jesus is like that. Without Him, it's just eggs, candy, and a holiday meal. But with Jesus, Easter bursts into full color. It becomes the celebration of victory over death. So, how are you seeing Easter?

Eating a donut for breakfast, a candy bar for lunch, and greasy pizza for dinner might sound great in the moment. But after a few days, your body starts craving something hearty and homemade. Today, Pastor Bill says your spiritual life works the same way. You can try to fill yourself with cheap substitutes — alcohol, parties, old memories— and they may feel good for a while. But if that's all you're feeding on, you'll end up empty. There is a way to be filled. That fulfillment has a name: Jesus.

There's nothing like stepping outside on a cool day and feeling the warmth of the sun on your face. Yet that same sun is so powerful you can't even look at it, and too much exposure can burn you. Still, without it, life on earth would not exist. Today, Pastor Bill reminds you that while every living thing depends on the S-U-N, there is One even more powerful and life-giving—the S-O-N. The question is, are you living under the life and authority of Jesus, the Son?

This world is full of things for us to be worried about! It seems like every week there is a new crisis in our towns, our countries, and our world that threatens to spell the end of life as we know it. But Pastor Bill encourages us to remain faithful to the Lord in spite of our challenging circumstances. Our lives aren't defined by the tough times we live through; they're defined by the work God is doing within us. The more faithful we are to Him, the more He transforms us into better reflections of His Son.

One of the ways that God challenges us to live differently is to respect the image of God reflected in every single person around us. Many of us, even those of us who follow Jesus, are likely to look down on certain people because of different beliefs, different cultural backgrounds, or even different interests. But Pastor Bill doesn't want us to forget the most important thing about humanity: God made every one of us special, in His image! We all have a place waiting for us at the Lord's supper table.

Back in Old Testament times, it was a big deal to enter into God's presence! Pastor Bill reminds us that Moses' face was glowing after spending a significant amount of time with the Lord on Mount Sinai! Well, that presence that was so inaccessible to people thousands of years ago is something that is available to us freely today! When we allow Jesus into our lives, He breaks down the barriers that separate us from the Father's presence. We have been sanctified by His blood.

When you leave a loaf of bread out on the counter for too long, and one slice starts to get moldy, do you throw out the bad slice and save the rest to eat later? Of course not! You throw away the entire loaf, because the mold has probably already spread to the rest of the loaf! In today's message, Pastor Bill reminds you that the stain of sin has contaminated this entire world. But praise God, because He offers us a way to live in the eternal light of His Son, Jesus Christ! We are forever free from sin's shadow!

When we read the book of Ecclesiastes on its own, we can feel lost and hopeless! After all, one of the central conclusions of this book is that nothing we can do will prevent the judgment that is coming for this world that we live in. But Pastor Bill reminds us that the end of Ecclesiastes isn't the end of our story! We learn today that God made a way for us to be saved from the penalty of our own sin. By trusting in Jesus, the burden of sin was lifted from us and placed on Jesus' shoulders.

Jesus' disciples were devastated after His crucifixion. All of them had left behind their families and their jobs to follow after the Lord, and they were beginning to wonder what their next steps would be. But Pastor Bill reminds you today that because you've already read what happens on Sunday, you can live joyfully on Saturday! You don't have to be worried about what is coming next for you, because you have already received a promise from God's Word! His promises never return void.
