The Implanted Word is the teaching ministry of Pastor Bill Gehm. Pastor Bill is the senior pastor of Grace Church in Amarillo, Texas. Grace Church is a Calvary Chapel, and pastor Bill takes a verse by verse approach to preaching the Bible. We pray that you are encouraged in your faith as you listen to God's Word.

We live in a world that's increasingly sexualized. It's in our music, on our TVs, in the books we read, and even in the schools our children attend. Yet the world's idea of what is good often isn't what the Bible teaches. That's why Pastor Bill reminds us that our hope isn't found in following the world, but in placing our faith in Jesus Christ. He came to pay the price for our sins, to take our place on the cross, and to do what we could never do on our own. The question is: will we trust the world, or will we trust Christ?

Often in life, we grow confident in our own abilities. We work hard, provide for our families, pursue education, and rely on our skills to get by. But there are things in this life we simply cannot do on our own. No matter how many good deeds we do or how moral a life we try to live, we cannot earn eternal life by our own merit. That's why Jesus came to this earth, to pay the price for our sins. And today, Pastor Bill encourages you to let Jesus into your life, receive His gift of grace, and find eternal life in Him.

As we go through this world, we can sometimes forget that our purpose on this earth isn't simply to suffer. We weren't created to be tormented or discarded. God created us with a purpose. And along with that purpose, God has given us His promises: to always be with us, to guide us through every storm, and to offer us everlasting life if we choose Him. So today, Pastor Bill reminds you that the trials you're going through are only temporary. Choose Jesus and receive His gift of grace.

As we walk through this world, it's easy to forget how much God blesses us every day. Every heartbeat, every breath, and every morning we wake up are all gifts from God. So if you're listening to today's message, Pastor Bill wants you to know that if you don't know Jesus, every moment is an opportunity… to enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ and to accept His gift of Grace. All you need to do is reach out to Him, no matter where you are. Jesus will find you and enter your heart if you let Him.

When you're new to Christianity, there's so much you don't know. Many people look at the Christian life and believe they have to fix themselves before coming to Christ. They think they must be perfect or know the entire Bible before they can follow Jesus. But the Gospel is far simpler than that. It's believing that Jesus died for your sins, that He lived a perfect and sinless life, and that He rose again. That's why Pastor Bill reminds you that you can begin a relationship with Jesus today - all you have to do is seek Him.

If someone invested in every stock they could find without research or strategy, we'd probably call that reckless. But today, Pastor Bill says that when it comes to God's Word, you should be willing to be a little reckless. Don't overanalyze every conversation or wait for perfect conditions. Share it freely and widely. You're not responsible for the outcome—that's the Spirit's work. Your responsibility is simple: sow the truth and trust God to grow it.

We've all seen a video go viral. Within hours, it spreads everywhere—shared, reposted, viewed by millions. It's on all social media platforms. Today, Pastor Bill says there's something far more important meant to be spread: God's Word. Your role is simple—scatter the seed faithfully. You're not responsible for how people receive it or where it ultimately takes root. That part belongs to God. Your task is to share it boldly and trust Him with the results. So, go spread the word!

Warning signs are everywhere — a strange noise under your car's hood, sudden chest pain, a water stain on the ceiling, a burning smell. We often ignore them, but paying attention to these warnings can avoid a lot of trouble down the road. Today, Pastor Bill reminds you there are spiritual warning signs too: neglected disciplines, half-hearted prayers, and ignoring the Spirit's prompting. Don't brush them off. But heeding them can lead to big spiritual payoffs.

Have you ever seen children in a toy store—excited by everything, focused on nothing? Bright, flashy toys pull them in every direction. They bounce from one aisle to the next, never settling. Today, Pastor Bill reminds you that you can be the same way. God has given you many good gifts, but those blessings can easily distract you from Him. It's often not hardship that pulls you away, but comfort and abundance. Are your eyes on Jesus, or the things of this world?

Have you ever seen one of those towering structures built from playing cards? It can take hours—sometimes even days—to stack thousands of cards into a fragile masterpiece. Yet remove just one card from a key position, and everything collapses. Today, Pastor Bill offers a sobering reminder: your life is like one of those houses of cards: a single careless decision can undo years of faithfulness. So, guard your choices. What you build over time can be lost in a moment.

Have you ever wished for more? More sweets, more space, more car, more money, more recognition, more love? Today, Pastor Bill reminds you that even if you gained everything you ever wanted, it still wouldn't satisfy. King Solomon had more wealth, success, and pleasure than anyone of his time, yet he concluded it was all meaningless. In the end, what truly matters isn't how much you accumulate, but what you do for others—and what Jesus has done for you.

Some choices seem obvious. Fruit or candy. Keep scrolling or go to bed. Say something sharp—or hold your tongue. But sometimes what feels like the better option isn't. Today, Pastor Bill highlights a surprising choice: Would you rather have Jesus standing beside you, or the Holy Spirit living within you? Most of us would instinctively choose Jesus in the flesh. Yet Jesus Himself said it was better for Him to go, so the Spirit could come. So, which would you choose—and why?

Have you ever watched old TV footage from decades ago? Before high definition, everything looked blurry and grainy—like you were peering through a foggy lens. You almost want to rub your eyes to make the picture clearer. Today, Pastor Bill says that celebrating Easter without Jesus is like that. Without Him, it's just eggs, candy, and a holiday meal. But with Jesus, Easter bursts into full color. It becomes the celebration of victory over death. So, how are you seeing Easter?

Eating a donut for breakfast, a candy bar for lunch, and greasy pizza for dinner might sound great in the moment. But after a few days, your body starts craving something hearty and homemade. Today, Pastor Bill says your spiritual life works the same way. You can try to fill yourself with cheap substitutes — alcohol, parties, old memories— and they may feel good for a while. But if that's all you're feeding on, you'll end up empty. There is a way to be filled. That fulfillment has a name: Jesus.

There's nothing like stepping outside on a cool day and feeling the warmth of the sun on your face. Yet that same sun is so powerful you can't even look at it, and too much exposure can burn you. Still, without it, life on earth would not exist. Today, Pastor Bill reminds you that while every living thing depends on the S-U-N, there is One even more powerful and life-giving—the S-O-N. The question is, are you living under the life and authority of Jesus, the Son?

This world is full of things for us to be worried about! It seems like every week there is a new crisis in our towns, our countries, and our world that threatens to spell the end of life as we know it. But Pastor Bill encourages us to remain faithful to the Lord in spite of our challenging circumstances. Our lives aren't defined by the tough times we live through; they're defined by the work God is doing within us. The more faithful we are to Him, the more He transforms us into better reflections of His Son.

One of the ways that God challenges us to live differently is to respect the image of God reflected in every single person around us. Many of us, even those of us who follow Jesus, are likely to look down on certain people because of different beliefs, different cultural backgrounds, or even different interests. But Pastor Bill doesn't want us to forget the most important thing about humanity: God made every one of us special, in His image! We all have a place waiting for us at the Lord's supper table.

Back in Old Testament times, it was a big deal to enter into God's presence! Pastor Bill reminds us that Moses' face was glowing after spending a significant amount of time with the Lord on Mount Sinai! Well, that presence that was so inaccessible to people thousands of years ago is something that is available to us freely today! When we allow Jesus into our lives, He breaks down the barriers that separate us from the Father's presence. We have been sanctified by His blood.

When you leave a loaf of bread out on the counter for too long, and one slice starts to get moldy, do you throw out the bad slice and save the rest to eat later? Of course not! You throw away the entire loaf, because the mold has probably already spread to the rest of the loaf! In today's message, Pastor Bill reminds you that the stain of sin has contaminated this entire world. But praise God, because He offers us a way to live in the eternal light of His Son, Jesus Christ! We are forever free from sin's shadow!

When we read the book of Ecclesiastes on its own, we can feel lost and hopeless! After all, one of the central conclusions of this book is that nothing we can do will prevent the judgment that is coming for this world that we live in. But Pastor Bill reminds us that the end of Ecclesiastes isn't the end of our story! We learn today that God made a way for us to be saved from the penalty of our own sin. By trusting in Jesus, the burden of sin was lifted from us and placed on Jesus' shoulders.

Jesus' disciples were devastated after His crucifixion. All of them had left behind their families and their jobs to follow after the Lord, and they were beginning to wonder what their next steps would be. But Pastor Bill reminds you today that because you've already read what happens on Sunday, you can live joyfully on Saturday! You don't have to be worried about what is coming next for you, because you have already received a promise from God's Word! His promises never return void.

Every day we have on this Earth is a gift from the Lord! We have the opportunity on a daily basis to make an impact for God's Kingdom, but we have to be the ones to take initiative on the opportunities we are given! Pastor Bill wants us to realize today that we don't know when our time is going to run out. Do we want to stand before God's throne wishing we had done more with the time we had? Or do we want to enter His Presence with the confidence that we did not let a single day go to waste?

It's easy to think we can have faith when we look back in God's Word and read stories about how He was faithful to people in the past. After all, we don't have to wait very long to read the ending! But Pastor Bill reminds us today that the real challenge of faith comes in the time of waiting. Some of us will receive a promise from God whose fulfillment will take years of patience and persistence. But God's Word reminds us that when we have faith and wait on the Lord, the end of our story will be worth the wait!

When you learn to let your soul be satisfied by God's presence, you are no longer afraid of the consequences the world tries to throw at you! Pastor Bill wants to teach you today about how the Apostle Paul was relentless in his pursuit to spread the Gospel, no matter what obstacles stood in his way. Not even the threat of death was enough to deter Paul from doing what God had told him to do. If the fire within you comes from the Holy Spirit, there is nothing the enemy can do to extinguish that holy flame!

Free will is a bit of a paradox! On one hand, we know that God is a loving God, and He has given mankind free will, the ability to make decisions for ourselves. But on the other hand, He has a perfect plan for the world, and He knows exactly what we are going to do with our free will, even before we know for ourselves! Well, in today's message, Pastor Bill encourages us to not take a backseat to our own lives. God knows where we will end up, but we still have choices to make on our way there.

One of the benefits of reading history is that you can look back on the mistakes that other people have made and avoid committing those yourself in the future. And as a Christian in the twenty-first century, you have access to the entirety of God's Word in the palm of your hand! Pastor Bill wants you to understand today that even with all that we glean from God's Word, the concept of salvation is still a mystery that has yet to be solved, but it is a gift freely available to you here and now!

No matter how much money you have, your worth and acceptance don't come from the amount you give to the church or to the needy. Don't feel like you have to give out of need to be accepted! In today's message, Pastor Bill will teach that God gave the command to generously give to protect us from greed! God doesn't need your money, but He does need your heart, and money has a way of consuming people. So, be generous with what you have, and watch how God can transform your heart!

God doesn't need us to accomplish anything. If we refuse, His plan will still come to fruition! But the really good news is we are given the opportunity to participate and be a part of His plan! In today's message, Pastor Bill will share that God wants you, and He wants you to be involved in His kingdom! There are so many special things about you that God designed for the betterment of not only you, but those around you! Use your God-given talents and gifts to bless others and be a part of God's plan!!!

Contentment isn't dictated or determined by what we have. The amount we have can't and won't control our quality of life. Jesus, on the other hand, will! Jesus is the source and steady power of our high quality of life! If we have Jesus, then we have everything we need, and therefore, we can be content! In today's message, Pastor Bill will invite you to look beyond your money, your belongings, and your status. Contentment and true love come from Jesus Christ and His proximity to you!

There is only one way to lay out your treasures in heaven, that is, fasting. The spiritual discipline of fasting is just denying yourself of something you want or need, to focus yourself on God. It's a very important and vital habit that all Christians should practice weekly, monthly, and even daily to center themselves on God. In today's message, Pastor Bill will highlight the potential of what fasting can do for you and what it's been proven to do for others. Fasting is an opportunity to slow down and find God in the mundane!

When we give, which we are commanded to give, we have to give generously and discreetly! The Bible tells us to help others in need and to be generous with what we have been blessed with! Most people think of finances, but it could also be our time, consideration, or simply a listening ear! In today's message, Pastor Bill will encourage you to give back to God what He has blessed you with! Be faithful with the patience, the time, and even the money that the Lord has blessed you with!

Life happens…the ups and downs of everyday life are unavoidable. The difference between Christians is that we have someone going before us, and we have someone with us, and we have someone watching our back! In today's message, Pastor Bill will remind you of the main command God gave us: God said, “Come to me!” You can go to God when life is good and easy, and when life is hard and unfortunate. God is there to help you take every step in boldness and confidence!!!

Social media and social status are meaningless. Any fame or following is meaningless. Because what happens after you die? What will you be remembered for, and what will you take with you? Do you wanna be remembered for the amount of likes or comments you got, or do you wanna be remembered for how you loved and cared for people? One of those things is eternal, and one is experiential. In today's message, Pastor Bill will encourage you to be concerned with eternity with Jesus!!!

Better is one encounter with the Lord than all the experiences of life! Better is one day with God than a thousand anywhere else! If you have nothing, yet you have the Lord, you have everything you need!!! Pastor Bill teaches in today's message that it is better to be with God over anything else! There are a lot of influential distractions, desirable possessions, and glorified fame in this world; The Bible proves that even adding ALL those things up, it is still better to have Jesus Christ!

Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Now, this verse doesn't mean you can fly; it means you can endure all things, it means you love beyond your capability, and it means with Christ you can be more like Christ. In today's message, Pastor Bill will not only highlight the importance of context and understanding, but also show you how you are mighty because He is mighty! Knowing the promises of God and knowing God is your greatest strength!!!

Oppression is unfortunately unavoidable; at some point in life, we will all experience some sort of unjust treatment. The deciding factor that makes or breaks a person is what you're being mistreated for and who's got your back. In today's message, Pastor Bill will share that oppression without God is unbearable. Anything without God is unbearable! When you have God on your side, when HE has your back, there is no persecution, mistreatment, or even cruelty you can't endure!

When we know Jesus, and not just know about Him, there is more to life! When we know Jesus as our personal Savior, as the Son of God who came to seek us and save us, there is endless freedom, forgiveness, and love beyond what we can imagine!!! In today's message, Pastor Bill will share that life under sun…spelled S, U, N, is limited and insufficient, but life with the Son…spelled S, O, N, is full of unlimited possibilities! There is more to life when you know the beauty that is ONLY found in Jesus!

Life without God is meaningless. If we go through life only worried about worldly things, such as status and possessions, we're living a life obsessed with things that will not last; things that do not affect our eternity or salvation at all. In today's message, Pastor Bill will encourage you to think beyond the world, live with a focus on what truly matters, and what will truly last… Jesus! There is more to life than what we see on earth; there is true and free life in the name of Jesus Christ!

We believe God is in control, but that truth gets tested when life hurts. When bad things happen, it's hard to understand how a good God could allow it. Questions arise, faith feels strained, and explanations seem thin. You've probably been there. Today, Pastor Bill will tell you that God's sovereignty doesn't mean you always get answers; it means you're never abandoned. He sees what you can't. Even in the midst of confusion, God remains sovereign, present, and continues to bring purpose from pain.

We've been taught that love is good and hate is bad—and for the most part, that's true. Love should mark our lives, but Scripture also shows us that hate has a place. God hates sin because of what it destroys and who it harms. That's different from hating people. You've probably felt that tension before. As Pastor Bill will remind you today, loving God means loving what He loves and rejecting what He rejects. When you love what is good and hate what is evil, your love becomes clearer, deeper, and more like His.

Whether it's to write a song or just in conversation, we need to be very careful not to take verses out of context. Scripture wasn't written as random sound bites; it was written as a unified story. When we isolate a verse, we can make it say something God never intended, and you've probably heard that before. Pastor Bill will explain to you today that context protects truth. When you read before and after and study the whole book, you hear God's heart clearly. So slow down, read, and let Scripture lead.

We all search for purpose in life. We wake up asking why we're here and what makes it all matter. So we look for meaning in careers, relationships, achievements, and pleasure. For a while, those things feel promising, but they never fully satisfy. You've felt that restlessness, too. Today, Pastor Bill will share with you that purpose can't be discovered in created things. It's only found in the Creator. When you find Jesus, you don't just find forgiveness; you finally find the purpose for which you were made.

We often wonder if the small things we do really matter: prayers whispered, kindness unseen, faithfulness when no one applauds. We serve, give, love, and sometimes feel unnoticed. But Scripture promises that nothing done in the name of Jesus is ever wasted. You may not see the fruit yet, but heaven does. Pastor Bill will tell you today that God measures faithfulness, not flash. Every act of obedience echoes into eternity. So keep loving, serving, and trusting. In Christ, your labor is not in vain.

At first glance, the book of Ecclesiastes feels heavy, even depressing. Life is described as meaningless, repetitive, like chasing the wind. Everything seems futile: work, pleasure, wisdom, success. But that's the point. Ecclesiastes is showing us what life looks like when it's lived under the sun, without Jesus. You've probably felt that emptiness before, doing all the right things and still coming up hollow. Today, Pastor Bill will remind you that apart from Christ, nothing fully satisfies.

Culture tells us to trust our hearts, and we like to believe our hearts are good guides, that if we follow our feelings, we'll end up in the right place. But Scripture tells us the truth: our hearts are deceitful, easily swayed, easily fooled. They tell us what we want, not what we need. And you've felt that tension—when your heart led you somewhere that looked right but ended wrong. Pastor Bill will share with you today that feelings make terrible masters. God's Word doesn't shift. Trust Him over your heart.

We all feel it at some point—a hollow place inside that quietly asks for more. So we try to fill it with pleasure: success, relationships, entertainment, distractions. For a moment, it works, but the satisfaction never lasts. The hole stays. And if you're honest, you've felt that too—that emptiness that comes back no matter how much you add. Today, Pastor Bill will tell you that the heart wasn't designed to be filled with things. It was designed for a Person. Only Jesus fits the space He created.

We spend so much of our lives chasing wealth, health, and comfort, telling ourselves that once we have enough, we'll finally be secure. We protect our bodies, build our savings, and measure success by what we can hold on to. But sooner or later, every one of us comes to the same ending: we all die. And in that moment, money can't save you, and health can't follow you. As Pastor Bill will remind you today, only what's rooted in eternity lasts. Are you living for what fades, or for what is eternal?

We live in a world that never slows down: noise, pressure, endless demands pulling at us. It's easy to believe peace comes when circumstances finally settle. But true contentment isn't found in a quiet calendar; it's found in Jesus. Pastor Bill will share with you today how Christ doesn't remove every chaos, but He anchors you through it. When Jesus is enough, your soul can rest, even when life feels anything but calm. His peace outlasts every season and every hardship or circumstance around.

We should be deeply grateful that we don't only have the Old Testament. God's law revealed His holiness, but it also showed how impossible it was to be saved by works. Trying harder was never enough. And you know that exhaustion. The good news is we know what they longed for: we know Jesus. Pastor Bill will remind you today that Christ fulfilled the law you couldn't keep. You don't live striving for approval anymore. You live from grace. Because of Jesus, obedience flows from love, not fear.

We've all been given a gift we never actually used—left unopened, set aside, or appreciated only in theory. There's a difference between a gift being offered and a gift being truly received. The same is true with Jesus. Salvation is freely given, but it must be accepted. God extends grace with open hands, but He doesn't force it into our lives. As Pastor Bill will remind you today, proximity to truth isn't the same as possession of it. So don't just admire the gift of Jesus; truly receive Him.

There was a time when being called a “Jesus freak” was meant as an insult—a label for someone too passionate, too extreme, too devoted. But what the world mocked, God has always honored. Being a Jesus freak simply means we're radically devoted to Christ, unashamed to live differently because He changed everything. Today, Pastor Bill will tell you that lukewarm faith never transformed anyone. So wear the label with joy. If loving Jesus shapes how you think, speak, and live, that's a beautiful thing.
