"Therefore God will send them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth." That's Second Thessalonians chapter two, and this is Something Good. Well, those are ominous words from the book of Second Thessalonians. But make no mistake, in the last days there will be strong delusion, and God is the one who will send it. But there is good news, and plenty of it, and it comes your way next, as Ron continues his teaching series, “What On Earth Is Happening: Examining the Prophecies of Jesus.”  

It's been called the darkest hour in human history. It hasn't taken place yet, but it will, maybe sooner than we think. Today, Ron takes us to Matthew chapters twenty-four and twenty-five, a section of Scripture known as the Olivet Discourse.  Included in this passage is a word of warning and a word of encouragement. “In this world you will have tribulation,” Jesus said, “but take heart; I have overcome the world.”  

The sermon centers on the rebuilding of the temple foundation in Ezra 3:8–13, portraying it as a profound foreshadowing of Christ's redemptive work, where God's presence is not confined to physical structures but is fulfilled in Jesus, the true Temple and foundation of all life with God. Through the supervision of Zerubbabel and Jeshua, the restoration of priestly and musical worship, and the emotional contrast between weeping and joyful shouting, the passage reveals that God's dwelling is not in architecture but in covenant faithfulness, now realized in Christ's person and work. The weeping of the older generation, fixated on the smaller size of the new foundation, symbolizes a failure to grasp that the Old Testament forms were shadows pointing to the substance of Christ, whose death and resurrection constitute the ultimate fulfillment of temple, sacrifice, and priesthood. The sermon calls believers to shift focus from external rituals and nostalgic longing for past religious forms to a living, Christ-centered identity as God's dwelling place—priests and temples in whom the Spirit dwells—where worship is not confined to music or garments but is the daily offering of one's entire life in holiness and joy, grounded in the eternal, unshakable foundation of Jesus Christ.

Ezra 3:1–7 reveals the foundational restoration of God's dwelling among His people, where the rebuilding of the altar precedes the temple's foundation, showing that communion with God must come before construction of His house. The altar, established according to God's law, functions not merely as a site of sacrifice but as a sacred dining table where fellowship, atonement, and divine presence are experienced through priestly mediation, foreshadowing Christ's ultimate role as both sacrifice and host. The people's urgency in rebuilding the altar, despite fear of surrounding nations, demonstrates that true safety is found not in human strength but in covenantal intimacy with God, whose presence is secured through Christ's once-for-all offering. This act of worship, marked by daily, monthly, and annual feasts, reflects a pattern of divine rest and renewal that culminates in the New Testament's Lord's Supper—a meal of remembrance, communion, and koinonia where believers participate in Christ's life, death, and resurrection. The passage thus points to Jesus as the fulfillment of all Old Testament worship, the eternal High Priest who reconciles humanity to God, making it possible for believers to dine with Him in eternal fellowship, while warning that communion is only valid for those who have come through His sacrifice.

Sergeant Maverick served the South Florida community for 37 years with the Miami-Dade Police Department, retiring in 2020. His career included assignments in uniform patrol, narcotics, airport and port security, and crime scene investigations. Following 9/11, he became a national leader in port security operations.
