Well... If you love football and meatballs this is the episode for you. Tom Lombardo, who brings with him a storied coaching career, and Robert Aurilio, one of the best offensive minds around, discussed everything from RPOs, Zone Read, various passing concepts, and our Italian roots. Coach Lombardo and Coach Aurilio did a great job sharing their thoughts on the evolution of offensive football. Both coaches have next level minds when it comes to the game we love, and that has lead to multiple state championship seasons.
Britt Hanson is a school social worker at Glenbard South High School. Britt is a colleague and friend that works very closely with a wide array of students in various capacities as a social worker and interventionist. Most notably, Britt is a huge advocate on addressing and improving all students' mental health and mental health awareness. We address what mental health is and how to manage it. She provides some great thoughts on ways to access support in the school community. Marco Eufrasio is a lot of things: Special educator, head baseball coach, assistant football coach, husband, father of twins, and a cancer survivor. Marco shares his story about overcoming and beating cancer. He is definitely taking this negative and turning it into a positive by starting a non-for-profit that focuses in men's mental, emotional, and physical health call Lace 'Em Up. Marco shares some great info on baseball at the high school level from the stance of a public high school coach compared to private club teams. Some very valuable life lessons in this episode. Coach Mike DiMatteo shares his wealth of knowledge from political commentary to triple option football. Not only is he an incredible football coach, Mike is one of the best high school history teachers around. He shares his views on politics and society through his website www.Think31.com and contributes to www.realclearpolicy.com. Mike has a book titled "Confessions of a High School Football Coach" ready to hit the shelves in January. It is a great read for any young man or woman looking to get into the coaching world. QB Coach, Greg Holcomb, shares about the evolution of the QB position from a mechanical and training perspective. Great trains some of the top high school quarterbacks in Chicagoland, including 5-star Michigan commit, JJ McCarthy. Coach Holcomb is a man I trust to train my athletes and my 8 year-old son. Also, Greg shares his vision on how to train an athlete from a more wholistic approach: Mind and Body. He is a great man and great coach.
Brian Iossi and Kevin Sabo discussed FIST Football Academy, and how they are improving the skills and opportunities for linemen all over Chicagoland. We discussed offensive line play, blocking schemes, and the evolution of our respective program's offense. Bobby Bennett joins us for episode 4. Bobby is a man who tells it like it is, and that is what I love about him! Coach Bennett coached for 31 years at various high schools and college programs.
