This week, your cohosts are making some lists and checking them twice to prepare for Christmas. But instead of going through JCPenney catalog circling gifts like it's 1999, Clarissa and Kourtney are listing all the things they want as a couple of 30-somethings. It's a tough, unprecedented time out there and your 30 D&D cohosts realize a lot of people are feeling burnt out and overwhelmed. Grocery money, paid utility bills, a freaking break -- plus a few more extravagant gifts to try and get in the festive spirit. And they're throwing a Christmas Party in 1994 for Back in Time!Disclaimer: This is an entertainment podcast based on individual perspective, experience, memory, and opinion. Jonathan Wolf is the co-founder and CEO of ZOE, the science-based nutrition company using data to transform how people eat. In this candid conversation, he joins me to explore what it takes to build a mission-driven company, how to lead with more clarity and transparency, and why the way we eat is more broken and more fixable than most people think.ZOE's origin story is as unconventional as it is inspiring. After scaling Critéo into a billion-dollar business, Jonathan stepped away with no plan and plenty of questions. That wandering period led him to microbiome researcher Tim Spector, and from there, to the bold idea of using AI and big data to personalize nutrition at scale. Eight years and 250,000 microbiome samples later, ZOE is running the world's largest nutrition science study and has launched a free app to help people assess their food in real time.Where to find Jonathan:ZOEXLinkedInTimestamps:(00:01:30) Jonathan's Path from Tech Operator to Founder(04:24) Why Success at a $2B IPO Still Felt Empty(05:39) Sabbatical, Loss of Structure, and Founder Identity Crisis(06:58) The Serendipitous Meeting That Sparked ZOE(09:27) Letting Go of Outcome Obsession and Learning to Value the Process(11:48) Chasing Achievement vs. Living in Alignment with Values(14:19) Becoming a Founder Later in Life—and Why That Helped(17:05) Why Being Naïve About an Industry Can Be a Competitive Advantage(19:45) Raising €7 Million in Just a Few Weeks(20:53) Convincing World-Class Scientists to Bet on an Unproven Idea(24:20) Building a Flywheel: Science, Data, and Community(29:51) Using Technology and AI for Human Good(38:47) From Pure Science to a Scalable Business Model(43:05) Creating the ZOE Membership Flywheel(48:07) Community Science as a Core Business Strategy(50:44) Transparency, Trust, and Leading Through Hard Decisions(54:28) Mission-Driven Culture and Retaining Great Talent(57:56) Growing from Founder to Leader as the Company ScalesConnect with Alisa! In this episode, the hosts get real about what it looks like to grow up, raise kids, and still try to have a life. They swap stories about New York nights out, messy family dynamics, and the emotional whiplash of moving from “I'll figure it out later” to “I'm responsible for everyone.”They unpack how hard it is to hold big dreams while juggling bills, kids, and mental health, and talk about the small rituals and boundaries that keep them sane. At its core, this is an honest conversation about becoming the adult you needed, without losing the parts of yourself that still want fun, freedom, and possibility.Keywordsparenting, modern motherhood, family, adulting, goals, self-care, relationships, New York, life transitions, personal growth, honest reflections
Accountability is the moment recovery stops being theory and becomes real life. It's the grown-up side of sobriety — the part where we stop blaming, stop hiding, stop sugarcoating, and start taking responsibility for our actions, our reactions, and our impact. Most of us spent years living in denial, excuses, and “Yeah, but…” thinking. Accountability is the shift where we finally look in the mirror without running. It's not about shame. It's not about punishment. It's about maturity, honesty, and growing into the person sobriety is trying to turn us into. In today's Daily Trudge, we talk about: Why accountability is the turning point in recovery How accountability builds emotional sobriety The difference between guilt and responsibility Why self-honesty is the first requirement How accountability strengthens relationships Why God expects honesty, not perfection Practical ways to practice accountability every day Accountability isn't about being hard on yourself — it's about refusing to live small, scared, and dishonest. It's where real change begins.

Kass and Mike Lazerow who are serial entrepreneurs, seasoned investors, and co-authors of Shoveling Sh!t: A Love Story About the Entrepreneur's Messy Path to Success joined me for one of the most honest conversations I've had about what it really takes to build companies and build a life. They share the unvarnished truth about their journey: surviving the dot-com crash, buying Golf.com back from bankruptcy, founding and scaling Buddy Media (eventually acquired by Salesforce for $745 million), and raising three kids while raising capital. They talk about the choices that shaped them, including why they walked away from a bigger offer from Google and how radical transparency kept their team committed during a three-month period when they couldn't make payroll. We also dive into the patterns they see in the 100+ startups they've backed like how ego, secrecy, and shiny-object syndrome derail founders along with the essential habits that help leaders stay grounded. And because they work together and live together, they open up about how they divide responsibilities, handle stress, and stay connected through exits, pivots, health scares, and everything in between. Their upcoming book distills 50 hard-earned lessons about leadership, resilience, and building a life that actually works. What if your most valuable business asset isn't your product, but the way you think? In this episode of Leveraging Thought Leadership, Peter Winick sits down with Alisa Cohn—one of the world's top startup coaches, Thinkers50 and Marshall Goldsmith award winner, author of "From Startup to Grown Up", and host of a podcast by the same name. Together, they unpack what it really takes to turn expertise into a scalable thought leadership platform that attracts premium clients. Alisa breaks down what great coaching actually is at the top of the house. Not therapy. Not box-checking. It's the disciplined work of helping senior leaders see where they are, where they're going, and how they'll get there. She explains why she now focuses almost exclusively on experienced founders and C-suite executives—and why the best clients see coaching as a sign of strength, not weakness. Peter and Alisa explore the often lonely reality of thought leadership work. You're on planes. In hotels. Delivering keynotes. Building IP. Yet rarely surrounded by true peers. Alisa shares how communities like 100 Coaches, mastermind groups, and curated gatherings of top thinkers create "connective tissue" between experts—and why those collisions of adjacent ideas (resilience meets agility meets questioning) are rocket fuel for new IP and offerings. Then they turn to AI. Not as a shortcut, but as a force multiplier for serious thinkers. Alisa explains how she feeds transcripts of 100+ podcast episodes and her HBR/Forbes pieces into AI tools to surface patterns, themes, and questions she'd forgotten—and then does the real work of shaping those into sharp, human insights. They talk about AI as a research partner, synthesis engine, and creative sparring partner—not a cut-and-paste content mill. Alisa also reframes the business model of thought leadership. Her core work is high-touch: one-on-one coaching, offsites, and select speaking. Everything else—books, articles, podcasts, media—exists to build a premium brand, generate demand, and give her the right to charge at the top of the market. She and Peter dig into why a book should be treated as a five-year march, not a launch-week event, and how evergreen ideas keep attracting ideal clients years after publication. If you're a founder, executive, or expert looking to scale your impact without becoming a commodity, this conversation is a masterclass in how to think about your IP, your business model, and your relationship with AI. Three Key Takeaways: • Coaching at the top is a strategic asset, not a remedial fix. Great coaching helps senior leaders clarify where they are, where they're going, and how they'll get there. The best clients see coaching as a sign of strength and leverage it to navigate different stages of growth—from early-stage chaos to pre-IPO scale. • Thought leadership plus brand equals pricing power. Alisa treats her thought leadership—book, podcast, HBR/Forbes articles—as the engine that builds a premium brand. That brand brings her better-fit clients and gives her permission to charge premium rates for high-touch coaching, offsites, and speaking. • AI is a force multiplier for serious thinkers, not a replacement. AI accelerates research and content creation, but the real value of thought leadership still comes from deep expertise, synthesis, and conviction. The challenge (and opportunity) is to use AI to move faster without letting the thinking get sloppy. If you're intrigued by how this episode unpacks coaching at the top, building a premium thought leadership brand, and using your IP more strategically, you'll love the episode with Cara Macklin. Both conversations look at how to design your business model as intentionally as your ideas—shifting from "doing the work" to building scalable offers, curating the right clients, and creating more freedom and impact. Listen to them together as a mini-masterclass in turning expertise, coaching, and content into a focused, high-value business.

A proper derby job. Chelsea went to Three Point Lane and looked… mature. Controlled, compact, and nasty in all the right ways. Could've been four or five, but one was enough. Chris and Joe get into the game plan: the set-piece tweaks, Sanchez owning his box, and a back four that finally looked like a unit. Caicedo hunted the opener like a man possessed, Enzo ran the tempo, and João Pedro delivered the moment — plus a handful he'll want back. Spurs were miles off it, but this was about Chelsea acting like a grown-up side in a big game. Attention turns to Europe and then Wolves at the Bridge — Six wins in seven, time to keep the standards and avoid more Sunderland's. The invisible woman still leaves quite a gap when she disappears. You might not have seen her smoothing your path this morning, ensuring clean clothes, full bellies, and petrol in cars. She paid bills, kept WiFi flowing, Netflix streaming, remembered gym renewals and doctor's appointments—putting herself last on every list. Until she doesn't. When the invisible woman packs her bags and buggers right off, suddenly her space becomes blindingly clear. Meet Monique van Tulder—mum, wife, woman who forgot to live her life. She took a grown-up gap year, went to change lightbulbs, and didn't return for months. Her sons call it "the time mum got mad and took off." She calls it life-changing—saving her marriage by renegotiating it entirely. You can find Monique's book A Grown Up's Gap Year here and her podcast here. This novel definitely is the type of novel that will stay with you. So you're welcome, Sam, for making me read this book this week! Sam and Morgan discuss their favorite spooky movies and realize that we are both cowards. How we finish this twisty novel, we will never know. About The Novel: A young woman is making a living faking it as a cut-price psychic (with some illegal soft-core sex work on the side). She makes a decent wage mostly by telling people what they want to hear. But then she meets Susan Burke. Susan moved to the city one year ago with her husband and 15-year-old stepson Miles. They live in a modern Victorian house called Carterhook Manor. Susan has become convinced that some malevolent spirit is inhabiting their home. The young woman doesn't believe in exorcism or the supernatural. However when she enters the house for the first time, she begins to feel it too, as if the very house is watching her, waiting, biding its time... Wanna Check us out? Click https://linktr.ee/JOMPage

Notre Dame Professor Patrick Deneen's book, “Why Liberalism Failed,” was not a project undertaken to explain the Trump phenomenon after President Donald Trump's surprise victory in the 2016 election. Nevertheless, it quickly entered the panoply of books, with Vice President JD Vance's “Hillbilly Elegy” among them, that provided insight into a new era of not only American but Western politics. The book's success, even featured on former President Barack Obama's list of recommended books, catapulted Deneen to one of the most prominent academic figures in the West and his ideas to the forefront of America's most contentious political debates. Much has happened in the years since “Why Liberalism Failed” was published. Liberalism managed to claw back power, first through undermining Trump's agenda at almost every turn from within, and then through the empty vessel of former President Joe Biden. Yet, Trump was able to mount a surprising return in 2024 with a new resolve to dismantle the forces of liberalism concentrated in Washington, D.C. Deneen joined “The Signal Sitdown” this week to discuss what future lies beyond liberalism.
