You've got questions. We've got Theology. A podcast dedicated to exalting Christ by guarding the truth, exalting the Word, and proclaiming sound theology.
We are back with part one of our series on the 2020 Presidential Election focusing on the following topics/questions: How do we engage politics as Christians? Should Christians be concerned with politics? How do we rightly represent Christ but also participate in the election of public officials? We have plenty to talk about, and honestly this is just the groundwork for what we want to discuss over the next few episodes. Send me a message if you want to chat more about this topic.
Chris Huff from Matter of Theology helps us kick back off season 2 of the live show - Join us as we discuss house churches around the country, seeker sensitive church growth strategies, what to do when we have lost our spark and desire for church, and how we can encourage one another to participate in the corporate gathering of the saints.
Welcome back, welcome back, WELCOME BACKKKKK. 2020 Ligonier State of Theology survey available now. What do Americans believe about Jesus? What do Christians believe about the Bible? How should Christians respond to COVID and politics? We spend some time going through the highlights and discuss why it is important to evaluate our theology on a consistent basis. Cessationism carries a scary tone with it. Often when I mention that I am a Cessationist, people run the other way. But more often than that, they have a false understanding of what we as Cessationists actually believe. On this episode we begin to talk about the truths of the doctrine and discredit some of the lies spoken about it. Part two will be next week.
Reflecting upon my big social media break from last week and what it taught me about the importance of using our social media platforms for helping others grow in their knowledge of Christ.
We actually don't get a chance to cover the article. BUT. Plenty more to discuss. Bill Johnson from Bethel Church recently discussed his reasoning behind praying for Baby Olive and creating an absolutely unnecessary spectacle. We will spend some brief time on this and then discuss why any of this even matters - why it is so important that we contend, and strive, and toil, to make sure we defend the faith once for all delivered to the saints.
On the final show of 2019 we talk about our 2020 plans! Specifically what Bible reading plans we will be using, what books we plan on working through, how are we tracking all of this, why does it matter, AND a special section of Bible app reviews that you do not want to miss!
2019 review and recap. A special thanks to all of our listeners and viewers who help us do what we do. We also spend some time discussing the recent Bethel Church fiasco and why it's so important that we get our theology right.
Netflix dips into theology and makes headlines with some sort of Brazilian Christmas parody about Jesus Christ. We also talk about the new Founders Documentary "By What Standard" and give some thoughts and praise for the work Dr. Ascol and the team did with this much needed documentary. AND as a completely random and unplanned bonus - stick around til the end to learn more about my insomnia and how I plan on giving up caffeine finally. ************************************************************************ Use code "THEONIGHTS8" during checkout at Logos to receive a discount!
