The book of Revelation is not a coded timetable, nor a speculative map of the end-times. It is a letter written by the Apostle John to first-century Christians living in Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey). It aims to bring encouragement and hope to disciples of Jesus living in turbulent times. As G.K. Beale puts it, “Revelation is the Bible's battle cry of victory.” Through dramatic symbols drawn from the Old Testament, Revelation equips the church with the heavenly perspective needed to persevere in faith until the end. In this series, we will see:-Jesus rules from the throne.-The church is spiritually protected even as it suffers.-Evil is judged and defeated.-God's mission advances through the witness of His people.-The Lamb will return to renew creation and dwell with His people forever.Revelation calls the church not to fear, but to faithful endurance, confident that the Lamb is victorious and His victory is ours.

In this episode, Fran Spielman hosts a discussion between two Chicago City Council members, Ald. Anthony Beale (9th) and Ald. Beal advocates for lifting the current ban, citing the potential for significant revenue generation to alleviate budget deficits and support local businesses. Conversely, Walter Burnett argues against VGTs, focusing on public safety risks, potential cannibalization of casino revenue, and the adverse effects of increased gambling accessibility, particularly on younger men.

Patricia Cronin On Resisting Self and State Censorship As An Artist

A viral encounter with a bronze sculpture put our host, Madison Beale, in touch with the incomparable interdisciplinary artist Patricia Cronin this year. Today on the Artalogue, Beale sits down down with Cronin to discuss her career trajectory from humble beginnings to a global art world presence as multidisciplinary feminist artist behind Memorial to a Marriage and Shrine for Girls to unpack how a work of art can carry both intimacy and insurgency.Patricia traces her path from a Catholic childhood through the 1990s culture wars, with erotic Polaroids interrogating power, authorship and voyeurism. That same insistence on lived perspective inspired later works, like the three-ton neoclassical embrace installed on her own burial plot to answer legal and physical absence in public space, and three quiet altars in Venice layered with fabrics that invite viewers to better understand how the patriarchy harms us all. Beale and Cronin also face the present head-on: executive orders scaring museum programs into deplatforming artists, show cancellations rippling through the arts in the United States, and the subtler danger of self-censorship in the studio. Cronin shares a clear path for resisting authoritarianism, matching skills to message and building communities that outlast regimes. Patricia Cronin is an interdisciplinary feminist artist that examines issues of gender, sexuality, and social justice. Major bodies of work focus on the international human rights of LGBTQ+ persons, women, and girls, including “Memorial To A Marriage”, the world's first Marriage Equality monument. Cronin's work has been exhibited internationally, with solo exhibitions at institutions including the Tampa Museum of Art, The FLAG Art Foundation, the 56th Venice Biennale, the Brooklyn Museum, and the American Academy in Rome. She has also participated in significant group exhibitions around the world and received  various prestigious awards and fellowships. Cronin's works is collected by numerous museums, including Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art, National Gallery of Art, Perez Art Museum Miami, Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, Tampa Museum of Art, and Woodlawn Cemetery. She lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.If this conversation moves you, follow the show, share it with a friend who loves art and justice, and leave a review with the artwork that changed your life. It features a conversation with Banjo and Ro Beale to coincide with the release of Banjo and Ro's Grand Island Hotel on BBC iplayer. Originally released for Christmas 2023 it features some seasonal greetings and a wee bit of context about the podcast. Wishing the boys all the very best with their adventure on Ulva, it's a properly dramatic watch, I've only seen one episode and have no idea how it's all going to pan out. Compulsive viewing! Ro is one of the masterminds behind the distillery at Isle of Mull Cheese, and Banjo is a celebrated interior designer, whose work you may have seen in Interior Design Masters, his own series Designing the Hebrides and whose book Wild Isle Style is available from all good bookshops. SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 356, “Becoming Whom You Worship,” Kim discusses the importance of choosing wisely what or whom we devote our reverence, focus, and energy. In today's passage, we see that the idolatrous Israelites' worship of worthless idols led to them becoming like what they worshipped. Yet, just as worshipping an unworthy object can turn us into what we worship, we can also become more like Christ when we choose to bow down and worship Him.   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 17:5-15, with 15 as the focal verse:   15 They rejected his decrees and the covenant he had made with their ancestors, and they despised all his warnings. They worshiped worthless idols, so they became worthless themselves. They followed the example of the nations around them, disobeying the Lord's command not to imitate them.     WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE:   If you become whom you worship, who will you be? Would you be proud to be that person?   Additional Resources and Scriptures:   "What people revere, they resemble, either for ruin or for restoration.” (G. K. Beale) 4 Their idols are merely things of silver and gold, shaped by human hands. 5 They have mouths but cannot speak, and eyes but cannot see. 6 They have ears but cannot hear, and noses but cannot smell. 7 They have hands but cannot feel, and feet but cannot walk, and throats but cannot make a sound. 8 And those who make idols are just like them, as are all who trust in them. (Ps. 115:4-8) 16 But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. (2 Corinthians 3:16-18) 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. Show notes: This is my first episode of "Drawing Funny" for 2026. I usually don't get political on this podcast, but after the last year we all went through, I had to share some of my thoughts and feelings on the state of affairs with the current administration. It's at the beginning of the episode and I promise- it's not too long of a rant. Hopefully you feel similarly on the subject, and are finding ways to deal with the craziness coming out of the capital. In the news section I share info on our upcoming Mid-South Cartoonists Association Monthly Dinner Gatherings at Garibaldi's Pizza (1st Tuesday of each month from 6-8pm), our ongoing MSCA "Art Of The Game" art show out at the Memphis Jewish Community Center, and the local con and art event schedule. Thanks to That Katie Jones for providing so much event info for this episode. There's so many things going on around town these days that it's really hard to keep up with it all! I also share some sad news from MSCA friend and family Bob Kimball. Bob's already beat cancer in 2025, and we send him much love and many good vibes his way as he prepares to fight against it again this year. You can help Bob by supporting him at GoFundMe by clicking here: www.gofundme.com/f/help-bob-kimball-fight-stage-4-cancer In this episode there are a couple shameless plugs in the promotion segments. I've got original art for sale including hand-drawn sketcovers and sketchcards out  at The Cellar Table Top Games & Comics in Bartlett, TN. I also have a few airbrushed monsterpiece and marker paintings done on canvas and wood panels. FREE delivery in the Memphis area- sorry no shipping. Check out my website for more details. And don't forget that I have a few pieces in the "Art Of The Game" art show. We'll have an artists reception this Thursday, January 8th from 6-8pm at the MJCC. Speaking of art shows, I pass along info on my solo "Family Portraits' airbrushed monsterpiece art show that's going to be upstairs in the 2nd Floor West gallery at Playhouse On The Square June 6-August 2, 2026. It's the same gallery that the MSCA's "Kitchen Sink" art show was this past summer. If you have any event or project news, or if you'd like to promote your podcast, you can email me at podcast(at)drawingfunny(dot)com. Exact details are in this episode. And feel free to stop by one of the MSCA events and discuss it all in person. I always love talkin' toons and sharing news! We're less than a dozen episodes away from our 100th episode, which will occur later this year. Hopefully sooner than later! Hope you all had a wonderful New Year and a  prosperous 2026. A Sunday morning sermon by Pastor Brett Deal.Arriving at a defining passage for our church, Revelation 7, I am encouraged by the words of G.K. Beale & David Campbell:  “The focus of the revelation John received from God is how the church is to conduct itself in the midst of an ungodly world.” I don't think it would come as a shock to anyone that we live in times marked more by humanism than holiness. No matter which channel you turn to, be it cable news, broadcast news or even a comedy channel, people are divided on every topic imaginable. We've become so busy fortifying our encampments against the opinions of others, we missed the Apostles' calling exhorting, encouraging and charging us “to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory,” (1 Thessalonians 2.12).Beloved, if we are offloading our calling for tomorrow in eternity instead of walking in the ways of Jesus today, we will be blind to the image of God in us and in others. When we dehumanize—and even demonize—those around us (yes, even our spiritual brothers and sisters!) we are failing to take to heart the prophetic and apocalyptic challenge of Revelation. John's foretelling of tomorrow is meant to shape not only the way we see overmorrow but bring actionable vision for how we live today. When we lift our eyes toward eternity, we don't see a monochromatic mass or single tribe. No, we “behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb!” (Revelation 7.9). Together at the throne of God we will sing of salvation and bless Christ's name forever! That, my friends, is something worth celebrating, and it's worth celebrating today! So today, may you and I, as God's priesthood among the nations, “walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace,” (Ephesians 4.1-3).

X2M.232 — Katakrateō (The Grip Phase / Dominion Seized) CR17 Runtime • Teva Kernel Edition • Compiled October 2025 (ET) Katakrateō marks the moment the verdict of heaven grips history.¹ The Starchild enthroned at 227Σ (Yāshab ⊗ Skēnoō) set a decree that no counterfeit throne could evade; 228 through 231 exposed, dissolved, and routed the dominions of darkness.² Now the hand closes on the crown—katakrateō, from κρατέω, “to seize or to prevail,” signals not conflict but consolidation.³ In October 2025 the world hails a global peace accord, but prophecy reads another signal.⁴ While nations toast a New World Order, the heavens thunder with Revelation 12—the casting down of the Dragon by Michael.⁵ Lucifer falls as the earth applauds false peace. The spiritual market reacts: the bid of Revelation meets the ask of Transfiguration—God offers truth as currency, humanity must answer in transformation.⁶ This runtime parallels 2 Kings 2—Elijah ascending, Elisha receiving the mantle.⁷ The old order is caught up in a whirlwind of fire; the next rises with double portion. So too in 232: authority transfers above, mantle lands below. The Starchild—corporate body of divine sonship—stands between two regimes: the Melchizedek Order (MZO), a priest-king lineage of righteousness and peace, and the counterfeit NWO, a political edifice promising harmony through submission.⁸ Every frequency here encodes that tension. Trumpets of diplomacy blur with the hum of warfare; peace accords shimmer against the undercurrent of cosmic displacement. Katakrateō is the sound of seizure—the resonance of heaven claiming what was promised.⁹ “Thrones will fall. The nations will be possessed. The Covenant will install its government.”¹⁰ Glorification | The Final Frontier Going boldly where the last man has gone before! Can Artificial Intelligence be art? And if yes, can it be good? Today on the Artalogue, Madison Beale sits down with artist Jake Elwes to discuss their art practice, as an early adopter of A.I., using it to challenge how we think about the world and technology through their artwork. Elwes does't separate art and tech, instead they use it as an innovative and generative medium. Elwes creates diffusion models that transform faces, words, and gestures into code. Bias, embedded into the datasets and diffusion models that are being used by almost everyone in our world,  becomes something you can see when the work breaks down. We discuss some of their works, like a diffusion‑driven interpretation of Sontag's Against Interpretation. The Zizi Show,  which has been the art work that introduced Madison to Elwes' work, “queers the dataset” by creating a unique data set with consenting and compensated drag performs, making moving images that transform into drag kings, queens, monsters and things that dance and lip-sync. The result is a cabaret that prompts us to think about bias, consent, and what it means to make art with tools that reflect us back in troubled but revealing ways.Elwes and Beale talk about decolonizing data, art, tech and the problems that arise in the gaps between. We compare US and UK art education, unpack how normativity creeps into “perfect” generated images, and explore how far we can take Artificial Intelligence in the art world. The thread tying it all together is intention: tools are powerful, but human voice is the point. If you care about AI, art, drag, ethics, or how culture could absorb new technology without losing soul, this conversation offers a sharp, hopeful starting point for deeper thinking.
