In this third and final chapter of our series “Should you teach your kids to fight?” we look at the schools' perspective. Many altercations, physical and virtual, begin and end at school. What do school administrators see and how do they respond?  As these issues become more and more complex, what are the tools implicated by a school system? In our first two chapters we spent significant time discussing what we actually hope no one needs: self defense.  In the end it's all about situational awareness.  The fight is to make yourself and your loved ones prepared and then to ensure it's never required.

Bullies and abusers are not isolated to the playground. It is a fact that threats - and opportunities - orbit around us at all times. In this episode we enlist the help of Mark Winn, owner and chief instructor of Winning Warrior Krav Maga here in Richmond and the author of the recently published book “Not a Victim but a Warrior.“ Mark will make  a very informed case that a philosophy of strike first, strike hard might be the best single thing you can do to end a problem and return home safely to your family.Get ready for what's coming your way in this episode of Twisted Wisdom!

The advent of another school year.   While the pandemic throws its own sucker punch at us, kids still have more traditional bullies to contend with.  Whether face-to-face or cyberspace, the anxiety and the damage is real. Many of us can recall a personal struggle with this kind of confrontation. While we persevered, scars remain.  Of course, our parents would do anything to help us, but it's not that easy.  Their advice was well-intended but likely poorly informed.Let's start a dialogue before something happens. Listen to our experts and let's collaborate as parents.  I think we can give our kids a better strategy this time.Feat. One of the most unexpected outcomes of the pandemic is a wildly active housing market. Those with financial means have purchased homes with near-abandon; Others have pursued creative home improvements inspired by lifestyle changes brought by the pandemic. The demand has pushed contractors and suppliers to the brink. This same environment may have made the dream of homeownership a nightmare for others. In this episode of twisted wisdom we explore the many manifestations of this unpredictable market with local real estate expert Patrick Gee.  You'll see that while the current real estate market is not for the faint of heart, it will likely yield a more settled market with interesting post pandemic trends that keep the American dream alive.

Many men are absolutely obsessed with their lawns- or more correctly their “turf.”  The classic springtime rite of rushing the hardware store, dispensing various potions on our lawns, and sharpening up the mower blade has begun in earnest.  Now, where did this come from?   It almost seems instinctual, not really even a choice.  In King of the Hill we explore lawn care, not just the technical aspects but the psychological connections.  We enlist the help of a new friend named Naylor Taliaferro, who is a lawn care expert and very charismatic fellow with a great backstory...and a podcast...and a YouTube channel.  Need I say more? The grass is certainly greener where you water it, but sometimes it takes a while to find your own little patch of paradise.  Now go ahead and become your own “King of the Hill.”
