When Ross Simon left London for the States, he set out to make his mark on the American cocktail scene. What he didn't know was that mark would be made in Phoenix, Arizona — a city that, at the time, was hardly known for its drinks culture. But maybe that was part of the magic. Ross landed in Phoenix and, a few years later, opened Bitter & Twisted, a cocktail bar that not only helped make his name, but also put the city on the map as a serious cocktail destination. On this episode of The Buildout, Ross joins Adam to tell the story of Bitter & Twisted and how its success helped transform Phoenix into one of America's most exciting cocktail cities.Follow us: https://www.instagram.com/buildoutpodcastBitter & Twisted: https://www.instagram.com/bitterandtwisted_azVinePair: https://www.instagram.com/vinepairHosted by VinePair Co-Founder: https://www.instagram.com/adamteeterProduced and edited by: https://www.instagram.com/dolldoctor Hosted on Acast. Dave Rubin of "The Rubin Report" talks about the extreme reactions to Karmelo Anthony being found guilty of murdering Austin Metcalf from his insane supporters to Democrats like Jasmine Crockett that you won't see on mainstream media; Fox News' Greg Gutfeld seeing some benefits to Democrats openly supporting nazi tattoo-sporting Graham Platner; Shermichael Singleton successfully getting CNN's Kaitlan Collins to go silent as he explained how Democrats' support of Graham Platner exposed that their moral high ground of calling Trump supports nazis and supporting the Me Too movement was always a facade; Elon Musk exposing a little known California elections law about voter ID that makes fraud more likely in contested elections like that of Spencer Pratt and Steve Hilton; a shocking interview with a homeless Skid Row inhabitant who admits on record that the Karen Bass campaign paid her money to buy her vote; CNN's Harry Enten sharing new polling data that should scare Democrats who mistakenly think that voters don't support Donald Trump's immigration policies; and much more. In this episode of Satisfied, Ryan Swanson continues the Twisted Passions series by turning from explanation to application. For those who have experienced same-sex attraction, the question is not only “How did I get here?” but “What do I do now?” Using Ecclesiastes 4 and the picture of the threefold cord, Ryan explains the biblical importance of mutual discipleship, accountability, and outflow. He challenges listeners not to fight alone, but to share what God has used in their lives to help others pursue purity and satisfaction in Christ. Listeners who have experienced same-sex attraction are invited to anonymously share a verse, biblical truth, testimony, or practical step that has helped them at https://theegeneration.org/ssa. Topics Discussed The loneliness often felt by those struggling with same-sex attraction Why Ecclesiastes 4 speaks directly to the danger of isolation The difference between one-way mentorship and mutual discipleship How the “threefold cord” illustrates shared strength and shared responsibility The importance of personal integrity in the battle for purity Why outflow is a necessary part of Christian growth A powerful testimony from a Christian school chapel where young men began helping one another pursue purity The invitation for listeners to anonymously share what God has used to help them How testimony, Scripture, and practical wisdom can strengthen others in their own fight Key Takeaways You are not meant to face temptation alone. Mutual discipleship is not one strong person pulling up the weak, but believers strengthening one another as they walk with God. God can use the very truths He has taught you in your struggle to help someone else find hope and victory. Outflow helps turn the focus away from self and toward serving others. Even an anonymous testimony can be a meaningful first step in helping someone else become less gratified and more satisfied with Jesus Christ. Victory over deceptive thoughts starts early, before consideration turns into acceptance. Ready to download the Cord App? Find it here! Jason and Rachel review The Ugly Stepsister, a Norwegian body horror take on Cinderella now streaming on Hulu. Told from the perspective of Elvira, the eldest stepsister, the movie turns the familiar fairy tale into a grotesque nightmare about beauty standards, class, desperation, and what women are forced to do to survive in a world built around male approval. We talk body horror, Brothers Grimm fairy tales, the tapeworm scene, eyelash sewing, foot mutilation, sound design, feminist horror, and why this worked for us way more than The Substance. We're taking an encore spin this morning...going back to a show first broadcast as "Country Leftovers" in late 2019. But it deserved a better name “…and I fell asleep with a troubled dream and dreamed I road on the hellbound train.” Just one line from one track from our Friday morning Deeper Roots show which focuses on some country songs ‘from the edge'. An eclectic blend of sometimes morose and other times kitschy stories of mid-century country singers looking for the next “Big Bad John” with stories of engine mishaps, disturbances of mind and relationships, and the general consensus of lyrical country that ‘the world is a monster'. Hillbillies, rabble rousers, and would-be crooners give us those tormented testimonies of country music. Join us for a very unusual collection of sounds from the archives of the fifties and sixties, when country blossomed; the songs we'll feature had a hard time cracking the Top 100 because the stories told are ‘out there', even for country music.
Star Trek: Voyager, Series 2, Episode 6. First broadcast on Monday 2 October 1995. Stardate: Unknown (2371). This week, I refuse to put more thought into this blurb than the writers put into this episode of Voyager.

This week at The Porch Community Church, we wrap up our series That's Not in the Bible by looking at some of the most commonly misunderstood and misused verses in Scripture. From Jeremiah 29:11 to Philippians 4:13, we explore how verses taken out of context can lead to misplaced faith, disappointment, and confusion about who God is. This message is a reminder that Scripture isn't centered on our comfort or success — it's centered on Jesus, His mission, and His transformation in our lives. In this sermon, we unpack: The true meaning of Jeremiah 29:11 Why Philippians 4:13 is about contentment, not achievement What Jesus meant by “Ask and it will be given to you” The real context behind “All things are possible with God” Why context matters when reading the Bible God's promises are not tools for our agenda — they are invitations into His purpose. Thanks for listening to this sermon from The Porch Community Church. If this message encouraged you, be sure to subscribe, share, and leave a review.

Welcome to another week of strange nature! Victoria goes first and brings us a story of an absolutely bizarre insect that seems to defy our rules of what an insect is. It has no common name so we give it one. We call this alien-like chest burster the Peek-a-boo Twisted-wing. Kirk takes the middle spot this week and he tells us about the only nocturnal monkeys in the world. Night Monkeys are special exceptions to what we normally think of as monkeys. One interesting example, Dad is the primary caregiver for children. Rachel rounds out the show by telling us a bizarre story about the critically endangered and fascinating Maleo bird. This relative of the Turkey incubates its eggs using geothermal heat by burying them in warm sand and then abandoning them. Thank you patrons for supporting the show and making it possible!
This week I am joined by my pal Mario DeAngelis of Salty Horror Productions to discuss the dark and twisted film - FREEWAY. Following the arrest of her mother, Ramona (Amanda Plummer), young Vanessa Lutz (Reese Witherspoon) decides to go in search of her estranged grandmother. On the way, she is given a ride by school counselor Bob Wolverton (Kiefer Sutherland). During the journey, Lutz begins to realize that Bob is the notorious I-5 Killer and manages to escape by shooting him several times. Wounded but still very much alive, Bob pursues Lutz across the state in this modern retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. What are your thoughts on this film?? 1. AOC Misunderstanding or misrepresenting American history Promoting socialist/communist ideology Opposing wealth creation and free-market capitalism 2. The American Revolution AOC’s claim: The Revolution was against wealth concentration and powerful elites Counterargument in the text: The Revolution was about freedom from government power (King George), not wealth inequality Wealthy individuals (e.g., Robert Morris, George Washington) actually funded the Revolution 3. Wealth and Billionaires AOC’s position (as described): Billion-dollar wealth is “unearned” Counterargument: Wealth can be earned through innovation and value creation Examples used: John D. Rockefeller (oil industry) Henry Ford (assembly line, middle class growth) Elon Musk (technology, space, EVs) 4. Critique of Socialism/Communism Communism historically leads to: Economic failure Human rights abuses Authoritarian control Examples cited: Soviet Union, China, Cuba, North Korea Key idea: Centralized government power = loss of freedom and prosperity 5. Race, Democracy, and U.S. History AOC’s statements: Black Americans “created democracy” Counterargument: U.S. democracy originated from: Declaration of Independence Constitution The U.S. has improved over time (e.g., civil rights movement) Slavery is described as a “moral wrong” 6. Immigration and Government Power AOC warns: Immigration enforcement systems could expand and threaten broader populations Counterargument: Immigration enforcement is framed as law and order The concern about government abuse is dismissed as fearmongering Argument reversal: Leftist governments historically used detention systems more aggressively 7. Use of Historical Comparisons Historical examples to support arguments Comparisons to: Nazi Germany Soviet gulags Japanese internment camps (under FDR) To argue that authoritarianism is tied to left-wing systems Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. Bobby has a twisted idea for a live stream that makes show members cringe. Lunchbox talks about a Washington state teacher who flashed topless pics to a class full of students during a PowerPoint presentation. Bobby talks about something from his past he is now proud of. A listener calls out Eddie and Lunchbox for complaining about the Low T competition. Bobby talked about a gas station clerk being praised for helping rescue a 16-year-old girl who was abducted at gunpoint while waiting for her school bus. Eddie has a weird daily habit we learn about.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
