One of the best ways to create a complete vision of what success is for you is to create a comprehensive list of everything you dream of accomplishing. This is a powerful opportunity to go BIG. As Michelangelo said, "The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark." By creating a vision of your ideal business or even ideal life, you have put your subconscious brain to work on achieving those goals even while you sleep. In this episode, we will discuss going deep, why your list should be 101 items long, and all the different aspects we can cover. The types of customers you want to work with. The ideal equipment and systems for your business. Even what retirement looks like for you and the people working with you. Plus, so much more. Learning about Small Business has never been this easy! As business owners, calm can instantly turn to chaos. The supplies don't arrive correctly, employees don't show up, or any number of other things can upend us. You need a strategy to get back into the "zone" as soon as possible. When we are calm and focused, we can trust our instincts, make decisions faster, and accomplish more of the right projects. From Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), there is a concept called anchors. The anchor serves as a reminder or a trigger that puts you into a certain state of being. In this episode, Aaron will walk through some steps you can take to create positive anchors that you can reference back to when you need to get out of the chaos. Zig Ziglar famously said, "You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great." In the years that Aaron has supported small businesses, action has been the common missing link for most small business owners. Many small business owners think that consuming and staying in their comfort zone by doing busy work is action, but that is stasis. How can we get into action and out of our comfort zone? The initial steps are always the most challenging as they get the ball rolling, but soon the ball will be rolling downhill nearly on its own. In this episode, we will talk about intentional action and taking those first steps that might seem scary. Remember F.E.A.R. is just an acronym, so join us and learn more. Ready to take action? Do you think willpower is enough to get you to your goals? Science has proven that it takes more than just willpower. Aaron has spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to reach his goals and what he learned is that there is a lot of brain science we need to understand. Figuring out why our subconscious brain doesn't always play nice and why our conscious brain is not always prioritized when we are stressed, overwhelmed, or tired. But Aaron has created an 8-step plan that is helping people reach their goals. In this episode, those steps will be revealed, and you can set up your own success action plan. On this episode of the Growing with Purpose podcast, host Paul Spiegelman speaks with Aaron Montgomery, the CEO of Montgomery Development Group, Co-Founder of CarLotz and author of Suspend Your Disbelief: Short Stories That Are Long On Wisdom. Aaron grew up in Detroit, raised by his mother, as well as her large family. From them, he learned the value of education and stories, and even got a lifelong, prophecy-filling nickname: Mr. President. After going to a private high school thanks to a scholarship, and eventually Harvard Business School, Aaron recognizes that he's benefited from experiences and environments that aren't available to everybody. But he's also seized opportunities when they're available. In high school, he asked a friend's dad if he could work at the man's car dealership during his summer holidays. Through this, Aaron was able to learn the ins and outs of car sales, which eventually led to him co-founding CarLotz. He and his co-founders strove to make CarLotz a different kind of dealership, for customers and employees alike. Those changes quickly proved to be beneficial for business; but more than the numbers, Aaron is proud of the culture they created. “The real impact to me was felt when you saw the difference.” Now, Aaron's written a book, structured in stories - an homage to his grandpa - and hopes to reach young people through it so that they can learn from his experiences. He's also working on himself, practicing patience, and focusing on the journey rather than the destination.

News COLDESI JOINS FORCES WITH MESA SUPPLIES - Two names in the commercial embroidery and apparel printing equipment world have announced they're joining forces with Coldesi Inc. acquiring Mesa Supplies. Several decades ago, Mesa Supplies Inc. of Fort Worth, Texas, and ColDesi Inc. of Tampa, Florida, sold embroidery machines as SWF West and SWF East. Both companies renamed and grew over the years, adding direct-to-garment printers, white toner printers, rhinestone transfer machines, and expanding their respective e-commerce stores. Now the two will work together. ColDesi has expanded in recent years with the addition of Pantograms in 2017, Belquette in 2018, and BestBlanks.com in 2020.EDMONTON MAN SETS RECORD FOR MOST T-SHIRTS WORN DURING A HALF MARATHON - Did you know there is a record for most T-shirts worn for a half marathon? There is, and it was recently broken by David Eliuk at Edmonton's Hypothermic Half Marathon on Feb. 20. Eliuk wore 90 T-shirts on his body for the 13.1-mile race, shattering the previous record of 76, according to a report on Canadian Running. And if that wasn't enough, he also laid down a respectable time of 2:37:54, though when it comes to T-shirt wearing records, time does not matter as long as the course is completed.Dad Joke: Why can't a cow understand what you are saying.Because it goes in one ear and out the udder. High Flying Success Terry: The regulators know Aaron, and have been hearing about his journey with the Success Principles, but Brian, can you share your story and how you came to be teamed up with Aaron?Brian: A Set-back is a Setup for a Comeback…How I got my MOJO back. Terry: As Aaron mentioned in the intro you guys are working on a half-day workshop called the FUNdamentals of High Flying Success. Where did this come from? Aaron: Meet in a program called Virtual Skills Bootcamp and are part mastermind group with other VSB Graduates. Back in early December Brian and I and the other 3 Mastermind members did a really cool presentation called Mastering 2022. If people want to check it out they can find it at http://successkeys.cc/ - This to us seemed like a potential next step. Some of the other Mastermind Members are working on their own program as part of the next level certification so it is all really nice synergy and allows us to create and share together.Aaron: Explain FUNdamentalsTerry: Why might a garment or product decorator care about this for their business?Brian: How I do anything is how I do everything….It's an Inside job ;-)Aaron: These principles are the roadmap, or the flight plan when you have an aviation guy like Brian. So while they might seem a bit woo-woo in concept, in practice, these are all the tools you need to be successful. Without having this framework, it doesn't matter how good of a screen printer you are, how great your digitizer is,

We talked about:Presentation of the package you deliverPresentation of you as a company - business cardsYour websiteDo people pay enough attention to their websites today?Call to ActionTell your Story - Hero's JourneyWhat is in it for them?Your “presentation” on social mediaSocial is the key - Stop posting your sales, offers, and pitches - Engage and build a relationshipDon't completely rely on automationPersonal and business - There is NO divider. (Sponsored by Impressions) This week the 2 Regular Guys will be bringing a special live Thursday night episode from DAX Chicagoland. Aaron, Terry and Erich will be discussing the most common issues decorators grapple with in determining, “Am I'm doing this right?” This show is for all types of decorators who sit and ponder that question. Our regular listeners know this, but 2 Regular Guys are all about garment decorating, a bit of fun, and no rants or lectures or selling. We are not doing this for our employers, but rather for our industry. Since February 2013, The 2 Regular Guys have been the first and the most listened to garment decorating industry podcast on this planet! We are humbled by all of you tuning in each week. We work hard to bring you information that will make your business better, and our industry better. Take a look at our incredible weekly guest list and you'll understand where this industry goes for news, interviews, and the heartbeat of garment decorating. Thanks for listening! Am I Doing the Right? In an effort to help the industry as decorators struggle to find blanks to decorate fellow decorator and expert screen printer, Nathan Leber decided to look for solutions. He said, "In light of the garment shortage and my disbelief that nothing can be done, I made a live Google Sheet that has some of my shops blank inventory on it." The goal is to provide an open Google Sheet that everyone can access to possibly find an item that might not be available at the supplier's locations due to the issues they are facing with containers and cotton shortages. Nathan believes that most shops are like his, where they have a stash of excess inventory where something happened on the job or they misordered. He goes on to say "I know all of the decorators' community has this stuff around their shop and for whatever reason it is just collecting dust when someone could be using it." He is trying to spread the word about this open Google sheet, which you can find at www.bit.ly/stocksheet1. Any decorator can go and add extra inventory they would like to move, and look for and coordinate getting blanks from others. The more people use the list to both buy and sell, the more valuable it will become for the industry as we navigate these difficult times of shortages, unbalanced stock, and shipping problems. Nathan only has two 'asks' of the decorators' community "Please try to keep the formatting clean and NO PRICE GOUGING or I will be forced to delete it from the sheet. Hopefully, we can all help each other out and find some of the garments that we know are sitting in a corner somewhere." To access the spreadsheet and to add your excess inventory www.bit.ly/stocksheet1 Facebook Live Video Be Part of #5Things If you would like to present your 5 Things, five quick points on any subject whether it be advice or five instructional steps, we would love to hear from you. Aaron Montgomery and his partners disrupted the century-old used car sales business when they created CarLotz, the nation's largest consignment to retail used car marketplace, right here in Richmond, VA.Aaron's upbringing as the only child of a single mom in Detroit, Michigan prepared him for this and much more. In fact, CarLotz is just one of many momentous chapters in Aaron's story, each one built squarely on the last. He is an adept curator of all his experiences big and small, and the man himself will likely be the moral of his own story.* We are absolutely certain you will enjoy this conversation, naturally divided into two sections to encompass the breadth of the interview. Aaron Montgomery is a true motivational force. The former founder of CarLotz and current Chief Strategy Officer at Mission Lane has added a new title to his extensive resume: author. Aaron has written his first book, "Suspend Your Disbelief," to serve as inspiration (and motivation) to young people who face similar settings and challenges as he did growing up. The book is a collection of short stories with powerful lessons. These lessons apply to all ages and can serve as a guide to anyone struggling to find their path to success. We never know the heights we can reach until we break through the barriers that hold us back. We have to be able to visualize our goals, no matter how out of reach they seem. Often times the barriers that are holding us back are internal. Aaron is a living testament of what can be done if we suspend our disbelief. Please visit www.AaronMontgomery.com to get a copy of the book. Each purchased copy will be matched by a donated book to a child.

News A very good online article in Impressions titled How to Increase Staff Motivation by Connie Smith. She offers a list of things you can do that cost no money. Great new tip sheet by Terry Combs in Impressions - Factors for Direct-to-Garment Printing Success Understanding Who Your Customer Is Terry: Start by giving us an overview of what we are going to talk about this week. You guys are kind enough to let me explore this with you today, and the reason it came up is through some thinking and exploring of my wife's side business of selling Rodan and Fields. You would think the customer is skincare related, but if you dig in the real customer for my wife is the person, in this case typically ladies, who are looking for their own side businesses. My wife went into it thinking it was selling skin care but is now having to pivot after figure out who the customer really needs to be. That got me thinking about our business environment and business in general. Things are changing so rapidly in our business worlds, to, me it seems the people that have the best chance of success are the businesses who have a very clear understanding of who their customer REALLY is and how they tick. Then understand that your customer is ever changing and could be different today than it was just a few years ago. Think of companies like Sears or JCPenneys. Or the story of Polaroid. I think you can look at this on a lot of levels and also see some really major companies facing some major challenges ahead and I personally think some of their problems might be related to not understanding who their customer is. See Facebook.Erich: Tell us more about how you see Facebook missing who their customer really is- I know tons of people are going to question how such a huge entity with so much information could not know its customer profile.Yup Facebook. The company we all though was too big to fail if for the first time really in their history showing some negative numbers in their world. Now, this is not to say they are going away anytime soon, but they are certainly facing an identity crisis and they have stockholders asking why. To me, their biggest issue is they don't know who their customer is. They have all of these users, but they get paid by the businesses that they have been screwing over with each algorithm change. Yet they don't seem to have much concern for them, they seem more concerned with Grandma not seeing too many ads. Certainly a good idea in some regards, but at the expense of their customers? I just don't think they know who their customer is an ultimately it could be their demise.Terry: So what about some closer to home companies that might be missing the mark?I think we all can be wary of this,
