Today's thought-provoking new episode may challenge the way you think about judgment and body image. Host Heather Creekmore delves into the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 7, exploring how our tendency to judge others based on their bodies might not align with biblical principles. Heather emphasizes the impact of the judgments we make about others on our own body image struggles and the importance of recognizing our own idols of the heart as part of the impetus for judging others. Heather even tackles the topic of Dolly Parton's attention-getting half-time show performance on Thanksgiving, when she appeared in a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader uniform. Should we judge Dolly? Or, should we simply say, "You do you, boo?" Or, is there another answer the Bible prescribes? Heather goes through Matthew 7, the Bible's most famous judging verses, and talks about what it means to judge others, and explains the Bible's very clear prescription on parameters around how we should judge. Heather examines the challenges of judging people's bodies by their size or appearance, shedding light on the dangers of complementing weight loss and the complexities of body size and health. Heather also talks about how our quickness to judge may reflect more work that needs to be done in our own hearts around the topic of body image. Heather explains, "Until I'm able to stop idolizing the woman that has the body size that I think would make me happy, until I'm able to stop judging others by their bodies and, really, therefore, objectifying them, it's really hard for me to break free from my own body image issues." With the advent of botox and fillers, cosmetic procedures have become much quicker to administer and more accessible to the masses. In many ways, one could argue this is a good thing – it offers a service to people who want it in a more available way than ever before. But in other ways, has the obsession with a certain definition of beauty and staying younger only further stigmatized getting older and aging naturally? Has the world of cosmetic surgery perhaps gone too far and fostered a certain type of ‘addiction' to looking younger? And how exactly do botox and fillers work? Medical missionaries from Western industrialized nations frequently encounter ethically disturbing situations when providing care in the developing world. This may be due to generally-recognized ethical principles being largely influenced by Western realities, beliefs and values. Individuals in resource-limited settings may have very different views on the risks and benefits of medical care, widely disparate access to reliable treatment, and decision-making that emphasizes honoring the opinions of the group over those of the individual. After briefly reviewing some basic tenets of medical ethics, this session will work through a number of actual cases with the goal of finding potential ways forward in each.

Join me today with the plastic surgeon responsible for my beautiful tummy tuck, Manhattan's Dr. Joshua Zuckerman. In today's episode, I'll be taking you through my transformative journey with a tummy tuck, joined by the skilled plastic surgeon who performed my abdominoplasty on November 3, 2022. It was a significant day for me, a blend of excitement and apprehension. My belly had always protruded slightly, a result of muscular structure rather than excess weight. Regardless of shedding pounds, it remained prominent. I accepted it for most of my life, perceiving it as an inherent part of my physique. I was fit and lean, and it wasn't a deterrent, to say the least! However, the reality was that it did bother me, especially in certain clothing, leading me to strategically conceal it. Surprisingly, I even won two world bikini shows with that bit of protrusion. I attempted to embrace this flaw rather than succumb to complete self-consciousness, yet deep down, it did affect me. Approaching 60 nearly three years ago, I noticed a change in my abdominal area. Despite not gaining weight, my discomfort in clothing escalated to the point where getting dressed became an ordeal. I started feeling disheartened about the body I had diligently maintained. In September 2022, after selling my fitness studio and effectively retiring, I finally had the opportunity to address something I'd long desired—eliminating the loose skin that had accumulated as I aged. That bigger belly roll turned out to be excess skin! After consulting around 10 surgeons and considering various suggestions, I chose Dr. Joshua Zuckerman, a seasoned Manhattan-based plastic surgeon known for numerous successful tummy tuck surgeries, a compassionate approach, an attentive team, and a fully equipped surgical center in his office. The rest, as they say, is history! My confidence in my body has never been higher. I hope my story can provide reassurance to anyone contemplating this surgery yet apprehensive about it. I, too, fretted about the resulting scar, but it's gradually fading, and the surgeon created a new, adorable belly button, leaving me with a sculpted appearance. Nonetheless, it's crucial to emphasize that a tummy tuck is not a weight loss solution. Before considering this procedure, ensure you're within 10-15 pounds of your ideal weight. Enjoy the show!

How often does a genuinely novel aesthetic device make it past product-launch hurdles to make it into practices across the country?Enter Jason Richey, President & CEO of Cytrellis Biosystems, to tell us about the nascent success of the Ellacor Micro-Coring system — the first of its kind to receive FDA clearance. The brainchild of Cytrellis Founders Dr. Rox Anderson and Dr. Jay Austen, the Ellacor device uses hollow needles to remove "micro-cores" of skin less than .5 millimeters in diameter, causing the body's natural healing response to go into effect. Up to 8% of the skin in the treatment area can be removed, with the goal of improving skin architecture by allowing the skin to realign to close the cores.Currently cleared for facial procedures, the device purports to fill a need for patients for patients interested in tightening and rejuvenating skin without a facelift. With 120 devices installed as of the taping of this episode, and a goal of 300 installs by year-end, the future is looking bright for Ellacor. "Alastin is certainly not the only brand in our offices, but it is my number one brand. And it's based on the science." — Dr. Grant StevensFor far too long, skincare was more about style than substance. Flashy marketing and misleading claims wrapped around largely generic ingredients became the rinse and repeat formula for cosmetic brands. While we've seen no shortage of technical progress in the world of aesthetic medicine, the skincare category has suffered from a dearth of true scientific innovation. The above context is necessary to provide a backdrop against which to project just how refreshing it is to speak with Jason Williams, the Vice President of Sales at Alastin Skincare. In this episode, he provides valuable insights into how Alastin's dedication to science forms the bedrock of its skincare research and innovation.Tune in to hear about a brand-new topical vitamin C serum proven not to disrupt elastin and collagen, and learn Jason's best tips for physician-led product pullthrough on the latest episode of The Technology of Beauty.» Apple Podcasts | https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/technology-of-beauty/id1510898426» Spotify | https://open.spotify.com/show/0hEIiwccpZUUHuMhlyCOAm» Recent episodes | https://www.influxmarketing.com/technology-of-beauty/» Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/thetechnologyofbeauty/» LinkedIn | https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-technology-of-beauty/The Technology of Beauty is produced by Influx Marketing, The Digital Agency for Aesthetic Practices. https://www.influxmarketing.com/Want more aesthetic insights?
