In this conversation, Tarun Agarwal draws parallels between Starbucks' business strategies and the challenges faced by dental practices. He emphasizes the importance of expanding service offerings to break through revenue ceilings and enhance patient care. By introducing new procedures, such as dental implants, practitioners can leverage existing resources and improve their practice's profitability. The discussion highlights the need for dentists to embrace growth and adapt to changing patient needs to avoid stagnation. Takeaways Starbucks' near failure teaches valuable lessons for dental practices. Many dentists feel stuck despite working harder and adding team members.Efficiency improvements alone do not lead to significant growth.Diversifying services is crucial for breaking revenue ceilings.Patients may leave for specialists offering broader menus.Testing new procedures can lead to substantial revenue increases.Committing to new categories can transform a practice's success.Overhead costs remain constant, making high-value procedures more profitable.Practices can plateau and fade if they don't adapt and grow.Growth in dentistry can be exponential with the right strategies. Welcome back to Plastic Surgery 90210 with Dr. J. Timothy Katzen and Ariel. In this episode, we break down an important question many patients ask before cosmetic surgery: Do you need a nurse when recovering from plastic surgery? The answer depends on the procedure. Dr. Katzen explains which surgeries require professional overnight nursing care, including complex body contouring procedures such as a 360 circumferential lower body lift, belt lipectomy, medial thigh lift, and spiral thigh lift. These extensive plastic surgery procedures often require 48 hours of monitored recovery in a licensed facility with nurses, pain control management, and even access to hyperbaric oxygen therapy. We also discuss when a trusted caregiver at home is sufficient after procedures such as silicone injection removal, laser high definition liposuction, mommy makeover surgery, or other cosmetic procedures. Learn what a caregiver must help with including drains, bladder catheters, dressing changes, medications, mobility, and transportation to post-operative appointments. If you are planning plastic surgery in Beverly Hills or anywhere else, understanding post-operative recovery, safety precautions, and caretaker responsibilities is critical for optimal healing and avoiding complications. For questions about recovery after plastic surgery or to schedule a consultation with Dr. J. What’s Your Wrinkle®, the plastic surgery show with Dr. Arthur Perry
I call it the "Frankenstein procedure"! There's a company that is processing dead people's fat and selling it to plastic surgeons who will inject it into your face or buttocks...or anywhere. Wow. This raises a lot of questions. First - the ethics. You or your family donates your organs, expecting that your kidneys, liver, heart, and lungs will help another person live a normal life. But do you expect that your fat will be harvested and used for cosmetic reasons? And do you expect that the fat will enrich the finances of the company that sells it and the plastic surgeons who inject it? I'll be not. And then there's the question of safety - the company can be certain the "donor" didn't have HIV or hepatitis, but they can never be certain the person didn't harbor Mad Cow Disease (Creutzfeld-Jacob disease in humans - same "prion", different animal). And then there's the "repulsion factor" - do you really want someone's dead fat injected into your body? Listen in to Dr. Perry's interview on the Mark Simone show - replayed here - to learn more.

In this episode of our Fear Series, we tackle one of the biggest hurdles before body contouring and plastic surgery after major weight loss: the fear of the unknown and the fear of regret. You'll hear what regret actually looks like in real life (hint: it's far less common than the fear of it), how unrealistic expectations can fuel anxiety, why “post op blues” can happen even when everything is going well, and what you can do before surgery to feel grounded, prepared, and confident. We also talk about how people treat you differently in a smaller body, how confidence can impact relationships, and why choosing the right procedure (and the right provider) matters if you want results you won't second guess. If you're researching tummy tuck, skin removal surgery, body contouring after weight loss, 360 lipo, breast lift or breast augmentation, or you're navigating the mental side of transformation, this one is for you.Watch nextIf you're new here, start the Fear Series from the beginning and then work your way through the topics in order for the full picture. What you'll learn in this episode• Why fear of regret is more common than actual regret• The top reasons people feel regret after plastic surgery (and how to avoid them)• How swelling, pain, recovery fatigue, and needing help can trigger “blues”• How to set realistic expectations for healing and final results• Why non invasive “skin tightening” options usually do not solve loose skin after major weight loss• How weight stability affects long term results• How body changes can shift attention, confidence, and relationships• How to choose the right procedure and avoid “internet validation” traps• What board certification and proper training really mean in aestheticsChapters0:18 Intro and Fear Series focus: fear of the unknown1:07 Fear of regret vs actual regret3:07 What plastic surgery means after major weight loss4:19 Post op blues, swelling, recovery expectations6:19 Surgery day realities and “the flip” discussion12:21 Picking the wrong procedure and online trends14:20 Beware unqualified aesthetic providers15:18 Loose skin facts after major weight loss18:04 Fear of social judgment and relationship changes21:46 How people treat you differently after weight loss27:47 Chasing perfection vs unrealistic expectations31:27 The viral “RGB implant” moment and internet misinformation35:26 Implant sizing and why many people wish they went bigger39:53 Weight stability, timing, and how surgeons “read” readiness44:49 Fear of regret and decision making stylesFeatured expertsDr. Omar E. Are AI images fooling you? They're everywhere. Perhaps you saw all those cute "candy cane" body suit photos and thought, "That looks fun." Or, maybe you posted one yourself! In this thought-provoking episode, Heather Creekmore unpacks the rise of AI-generated photos and their profound impact on how we see ourselves—and each other. What started years ago as a debate over Photoshop has now exploded into a world where anyone can create altered, “flawless” images of themselves in a matter of seconds. But the effects go far beyond just looking different in pictures. These doctored images are changing our brains, our body image, and even our spiritual health. Heather shares what happened when she created a bunch of AI photos of herself, including her hilarious results. What You’ll Hear The Evolution from Photoshop to AI:Heather Creekmore reminisces about early discussions on Photoshop and magazine covers—and how AI has made “perfect” images accessible to everyone, not just celebrities and models. Personal Experiment with AI Headshots:Hear about Heather’s own journey using an AI headshot generator, the surprising (and sometimes hilarious) results, and the unsettling emotional triggers that come with seeing an altered version of yourself. The Science Behind How Images Affect Us:Learn how the brain processes images, why filtered photos are so convincing (even when we know they're fake), and how repeated exposure to “perfect” bodies rewires our brains to set unrealistic standards. Real Dangers: Snapchat Dysmorphia and Beyond:Explore the rise in people seeking cosmetic procedures to look like their filtered selfies, and understand why AI-generated “ideal images” up the stakes for comparison, perfectionism, and dissatisfaction. Spiritual Implications:Heather dives deep into the spiritual cost of chasing AI perfection, discussing body image idolatry, why you were purposefully designed by a loving Creator, and the difference between being designed vs. manufactured. Practical Tips to Beat Comparison:Walk away with actionable advice, from mindful scrolling to curating your social media feed, setting screen time limits, and turning to prayer when you're tempted by those idealized images. Memorable Quotes “Now you can actually have an image of yourself to worship.” “Our brains know these images are fake, but our hearts still hurt as if they’re real.” “You’re not a red Solo cup. You’re not manufactured. You’re uniquely designed.” "Are you worshipping a perfect image, or are you worshipping a perfect God?" We talk about his early years in the SGV, how sports shaped his discipline, and why he always felt pulled toward a career that combined precision, results, and service.Alex walks me through the evolution of his medical path, from thinking he would pursue other surgical specialties to discovering plastic surgery and realizing it matched both his technical standards and his creative eye. He breaks down what people misunderstand about plastic surgery, how reconstruction and aesthetics overlap, and why the best outcomes should look natural and intentional. We also get into the patient side of the work, including trust, communication, and what it means to carry the responsibility of someone choosing you for a life changing procedure. Alex shares how he approaches facial aesthetics, rhinoplasty, breast surgery, body contouring, liposuction, fat transfer, and non surgical options like injectables in a way that prioritizes balance over trends. If you are curious about modern plastic surgery, the natural results movement, or what it looks like to build a medical career and still come home to the SGV, this conversation is thoughtful, detailed, and grounded in the real story behind the work.________________Music CreditsIntroEuphoria in the San Gabriel Valley, Yone OGStingerScarlet Fire (Sting), Otis McDonald, YouTube Audio LibraryOutroEuphoria in the San Gabriel Valley, Yone OG__________________My SGV Podcast:Website: www.mysgv.netNewsletter: Beyond the MicPatreon: MySGV Podcastinfo@sgvmasterkey.com
