On the twenty-fourth episode of Two Old Souls, we'll be taking a look at the importance of self-worth. In a day and age where social media makes it hard for you to NOT compare your life with other people – whether it be with celebrities, influencers or even your friends and colleagues, how do we develop and maintain our sense of self-worth to ground us and keep us sane through all the distractions? In this episode, we share what self-worth means to them personally, and try to differentiate between 'Self-Worth' and 'Self-Esteem'. We then discuss how one could measure their self-worth, and how we built our own self-worth throughout the years. We hope in this episode, and through our experiences, you'd be able to identify your own self-worth or perhaps make the necessary steps to define your own self-worth. On the twenty-third episode of Two Old Souls, we share our thoughts and ideas on our habits and routines. To kick off the episode, we explore the science behind why and how habits drive our lives, what it really takes to form or break a habit and what the difference is between habits and routines. After that, things get personal as we reflect on our own beliefs and experiences with forming or breaking habits and routines. We also share what we consider our "bad" habits and how we go about trying to break them. Lastly, we also explore what our personal motivation and drivers are when it comes to committing to habits and routines. We hope, through our own experiences, this episode gives you an understanding on why it's important to be aware of your habits and how you can utilise them to optimise your life. The twenty-second episode of Two Old Souls continues on from last week's topic on Personal vs. Couple Finance, this time focussing on the Couple part. As we know, finance is often a taboo topic to talk about - even amongst family, friends and for some it's even harder to talk about it with your significant other. Perhaps that is a contributing factor to why finance-related issues are one of the most common cause for divorce. In this episode, we take a deeper look into why it is that finance can lead to relationships ending while reflecting on our own views and values about couple finance. In addition, we also explore the concept of financial compatibility and how it can affect the seeing, dating and eventually committed phase of a relationship. Ideally, we'd all like to say that money doesn't matter in a relationship but in reality it is inherent in every relationship and if not managed, can rear its ugly head when you least want to deal with it. Concepts such as financial infidelity, financial priorities and financial compatibility are all very real topics that we should be aware of and hopefully, be in a better position to recognise them when they cross our paths. On the twenty-first episode of Two Old Souls, we discuss the idea of personal finance as the first part of our two-part finance episodes. In 2019, a survey conducted by the University of Melbourne found that Australian's aren't as financially literate as we think. Quite alarming is the gap between men and women when it comes to finance literacy and that the age demographic between 19-25 were the least financially literate. This got Ace and Linh asking themselves, "When were we first introduced to the concept of money, and what the value of money means to us?" Ace shares some of his bad spending habits when he was younger and why he would agree that 19-25 year olds weren't properly taught how to manage their finances, and Linh shares her thoughts and why it's so important for women to be on the front foot with their own personal finance. We hope, through our own experiences, this episode gives you an understanding on why it's important to plan your personal finances sooner rather than later. On the twentieth episode of Two Old Souls, we discuss the rise of two work related movements - "The Great Resignation" and the "I don't dream of labour" movements. As we reflect on the impact of the pandemic, one of the biggest area of change is of course related to our work, especially when it comes to how we work and what work means to us. In this episode, Ace and Linh will be sharing their stories about working through the pandemic - including the good, the bad and the ugly. We will also have a deeper look into the meaning of work/career success and how we think the new movements will reshape that definition for the better. We hope this episode gives you a new perspective about work and how we can balance our relationship with work to ensure that it is a "balance" and not just one-sided. On the seventeenth episode of Two Old Souls, we reminisce on our 20's and ask ourselves if our 30's would be any better. Some people dread getting older, and then there are some that dread leaving their 20's and entering their 30's. Ace was one of them. But why? This was an opportunity for us to discuss what we thought being in our 30's was like when we were young, and what it's actually like now that we are both in our early 30's. Is it any better than we thought? Ace shares how he notices the older he gets, the less he cares about his high standard of appearance and Linh talks about the more opportunity she has doing more for others in her 30's compared to her 20's. We hope this fun little episode shows that being in your 30's can open up more doors and windows of opportunity for you, more than you thought it would when you were young. On a side note, Two Old Souls will wrap up Season 1 with this episode and will be back bigger and better in early 2021. We can't wait! On our thirteenth episode of Two Old Souls, we discuss the importance of continuing self discovery while in a relationship. It is a common reason we've heard when couples break up, especially when one person feels that they have lost their identity and worth. They feel stuck and unfulfilled in their own personal journey. On the tenth episode of Two Old Souls, we have a chat about a rather controversial topic and that is around power balance in a relationship and the things we sometimes do that tips the scales. Especially during the early stages of a relationship, we tend to try and read each other to see if the other person is interested in us or not. We need to confirm this affection. The moment we read there is some detachment from the other person, we're more likely to step away from that relationship. But if we're the ones already invested, any sign of withdrawal may cause us to dig our nails in a little deeper and trigger more passion in us. This could lead to feelings of being emotionally shortchanged or feelings of suffocation. The imbalance occurs and the passion trap has been set. Ace and Linh go into detail about their respective experiences as a one-down and a one-up in their previous relationship and how this has affected them ever since. We also share some of our strategies that could help correct imbalance in a relationship. Say hello to us @twooldsouls.podcast on Instagram. We'd love to hear from you! Thanks for tuning in.
