What You'll Hear In This Episode:We are often disappointed when the people we are dating don't meet our expectations, but we have to surrender to the process and realize we are not entitled to have them follow our unwritten rules.Lisa sees many parallels with the 12 Step Program and the dating process. What does it mean to surrender to the process? Knowing that we can't control every aspect or outcome, incompatibility does not equal failure, and resistance is counterintuitive.Trusting the process can be scary, but there is no other way to gain wisdom and experience without going through it.We can't let the voice of insecurity or pride write our stories; our attitude and our reactions can change the entire outcome. It's important to remember the dating process is a journey. Have you thought about why you are dating? Our best version of ourselves will attract the best people; acting with authenticity and genuinely from the heart is the only approach.Every single person can benefit from the perspective of a third party mentor or coach to help them grow.Investing in dating will pay out in dividends in so many facets of life from adding years to your lifespan, increasing your income level, and more.Continue On Your JourneyLisa Shield | YouTube | Facebook | Instagram | Book a Call With LisaEmail the podcast at: email@example.comMentioned:Serenity PrayerWatch Lisa's PresentationQuotes“The opposite of surrender is not to let go of control. Relationships are hard for everyone, but they can be especially hard when you're living with a mental health issue such as depression or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Psychological struggles can heighten the anxiety around sex, dating, and intimacy in ways that can make relationships feel inherently unsatisfying, even hopeless. But there is hope! Today, we're going to explore how mental health issues can pose unique relationship challenges, but also consider practical tips and tools for overcoming them. I am joined by Allison Raskin, a mental health advocate and New York Times bestselling author. Her latest book is titled: Over-Thinking About You: Navigating Romantic Relationships When You Have Anxiety, OCD, and/or Depression. Some of the topics that we explore include: How do you even bring up the subject of mental health with someone you're dating or in a relationship with? How can you tell whether something you're worried about is a valid relationship concern vs. a symptom of your disorder? How do you take care of both your mental health and your relationship at the same time when some mental health treatments carry sexual side effects? How can you learn to be "in the moment" during sex and block out distracting thoughts? How can you make online dating less anxiety-inducing? How can you handle breakup in healthier ways? How can you be a supportive partner to someone who has mental health struggles? To learn more about Allison, visit allisonraskin.com. So we talked about the masses not always being great at picking date ideas, and we felt we couldn't end that conversation without offering some solutions of our own. Due to the above, this episode focuses on good slash great date ideas you may not have thought of before. We go way too local for some ideas, and keep it nice and general for others so that our non-seattle listeners can feel included and warm inside. The space needle might be mentioned, but we promise it'll be brief and mostly painless.
We could have done this podcast in a few episodes. There are so many facets to social media and divorce recovery. We both agree that you shouldn't just jump in with both feet and do a brain and/or heart dump. Social media is not the place for airing that laundry. With limited positive attributes in doing that, you should keep it simple and easy when posting. As you know, once you post it, it is out there for all the world to see. Discussions of Mercury is in Gatorade, trolling Facebook groups, screw-on penises, he forgot his password, passive-aggressiveness, and the War and Peace book of dating are all touched on. Please folks, be easy with social media while going through the beginning, middle, and end of your divorce. You can always say more, but once it is in the universe, it's too late. Enjoy…

Triggerwarnung: Beim 2. What You'll Hear In This Episode:Why would Lisa do away with the therapeutic model of dating? What does it mean to take 100% personal responsibility in your relationship? Taking personal responsibility does NOT mean enduring any type of abuse. Lisa and Benjamin talk about the ways they “process” without the long and draining hours of actual processing in their relationship, and how it makes things feel lighter, adding to their level of connection rather than adding blame or shame. What is the first step to taking personal responsibility? Most people's actions are usually about them, rather than about us. How can we take responsibility for ourselves by having empathy for others? Taking 100% responsibility means just that! Not 80%, 50%, or anything in between.Lisa and Benjamin walk us through what it looks like to be nonreactive to what comes our way and instead observe how we feel and diffuse the situation. Today's guest is Alexis Wolfe, founder of NYCDateNite, a New York based blog that has become the go-to resource for dating in New York City. We sit down and talk about the below topics: How and why she started her blog: love for food and dating in NYC How she met her boyfriend on Hinge, biggest lesson with dating and focusing on if you like them, rather if they like you Building her community and followers on Instagram: how she structures her day and posting schedule and restaurant visits Realities and difficulties of dating in a city like New York and seeing someone for who they are instead of romanticizing the relationship Struggles with stressing about the future and not living in the present Confession Relating to ‘faking it till you make it' About Alexis: Dating can be a treacherous road, potentially leaving a girl pretty frustrated. On the other hand, dating can also be an amazing time — that is, of course, if you know exactly where to go and what to do. That's why I launched NYCDateNite. NYCDateNite is an ever-evolving repository of the trendiest places to take your date, while also serving as a guide to enjoying a night out with friends, brunch with family, and everything in between. I'm here to help you navigate the maze that is dating, especially in a city like NYC where the choices seem endless (including the wrong choices). At times, you almost want to give up — at least I did. That's why this platform was born. I realized that even if I didn't have control over finding my perfect man, I did have control over where to meet him. So even if the guy wasn't for me, it would never again be a total loss because, hey, at least the food was good. Assembled here are some of my most trusted recommendations to ensure that you're dating both efficiently and enjoyably. You will hopefully find, as I have, that there's no such thing as a failed date if you're equipped with a game plan. https://www.nycdatenite.com/ https://www.instagram.com/nycdatenite/ Feel free to leave a positive review on Apple Podcasts if you enjoyed this episode and be sure to share this with a friend!
