Jen Psaki talks with former speech writers for President Barack Obama, Jon Favreau and Cody Keenan, about the significance of the Obama Presidential Center and how the messaging of hope and hard work contrasts with the bleak mood as Americans endure Donald Trump's corruption and mismanagement. Former President Barack Obama, in his remarks upon the opening of the Obama Presidential Center, tells the story of the origin of the now-famous quote, "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice," from 19th-century abolitionist pastor Theodore Parker. Welcome to PTBN Pop's Movie Review of The Day! Every weekday we will be reviewing a movie whether it be currently in theaters, featured on streaming or just a film that we hold near and dear to us. Well *sigh* how did we get here ??? Always in motion is the future .......... but the question remains STILL how did we get here ??? We all remember how THIS started ..................... Lucasfilm officially announced three major live-action Star Wars films at the 2023 Star Wars Celebration, each tackling a different era of the franchise. The projects had included a Rey-centric film, a New Republic culmination directed by Dave Filoni, and an ancient origin story, which was to be directed by James Mangold But then like a disturbance in the FORCE hahahahahahahahaha LOL LOL LOL LOL MORE like Bob Iger bending knee to his shareholder, pivoted away from the previously announced three films .............Disney and Lucasfilm officially announced The Mandalorian & Grogu movie on January 9, 2024. Directed by Jon Favreau, the film was released in theaters on May 22, 2026 *sigh* and in short we are here my friends On the latest episode of Fandom Awakens Radio, "Action, Excitement, Smashing your Toys, Together A Star Wars seeks MORE then these things" LOL LOL LOL hahahahahahaha, your hosts David Senden and Kyle Wagner discuss in FULL Beskarian SPOILER-y goodness the Mandalorian & Grogu, does THIS have the feel of a STAR WARS movie ?? or is it simply what we ALL feared it would be, a glorified episode (or few episodes) of a TV show, I will give it THIS tho and YES this is serving as the next major chapter in the adventures of the beloved bounty hunter and his adopted son obviously, but end of the day ALL the Mandalorian & Grogu is its a apology letter for Season 3 of the Mandalorian which was ABSOLUTE dogwater "HELP me STARFIGHTER ................. your my only HOPE !!!!!!!" a BRAND NEW episode of Fandom Awakens Radio starts RIGHT NOW !!!!!!!!!
Send us Fan MailWelcome to our 121st episode of the Triple FFF and our early summer confab about two big Hollywood tentpole entries that crashed and burned miserably at the box office in the wake of Gen Z's love affair with indie influencer horror to the point where Gen X has to face the facts and realize our day of IP dominance is over, we're talking about 2026's Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu directed by Jon Favreau and starring Pedro Pascal, Martin Scorcese, Jeremy Allen White and Sigourney Weaver along with Masters of The Universe, directed by Travis Knight and starring Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendez, Idris Elba, Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin, James Purefoy, Charlotte Riley and Jared Leto. Back again for more is Mr. 80's Showbiz Trivia himself, Dr. David Johnson, DMD. Before we let these critical fists fly in a flurry of thunder punches, the synopses: In The Mandalorian and Grogu, ace bounty hunter Din Djarin and his adorable little green pal Grogu team up with the New Republic for a dangerous mission: deliver Rotta the Hutt, the kidnapped son of Jabba the Hutt, back to his ruthless gangster relatives known only as the Twins. In exchange, the Republic will get critical intel on the whereabouts of several high-ranking Imperial loyalists, still on the run. In Masters of the Universe, the evil Skeletor seizes control of the planet Eternia and enslaves Prince Adam's royal parents, forcing the young noble into exile on Earth. Stuck living as a regular human in a soul-crushing and emasculating human resources job for a nameless corporation, Adam quietly yearns for the adventure and heroics he was born for. When Eternian warrior princess Teela shows up on Earth chased by Skeletor's mindless henchman Beast Man, Adam finally gets his chance — he returns home with Teela to confront Skeletor and the forces of darkness and to claim his destiny as the most powerful being in the universe… He-Man. Are these two phenomenal failures actually fabulous? Find out! Watch the video podcast on Youtube:https://youtu.be/7DcNzDMNfko

The vice president of the United States called a meeting in the Situation Room last year to discuss the administration's cover-up of the Epstein files. Never mind that there were allegations in the files that Trump had had sex with an underage girl in Epstein's child trafficking ring—and which somehow involved Trump's alleged nipple fetish. Today we're diving into the incredible journey of Johnny Coyne, an actor who traveled from the rugged mountains of Cyprus to the legendary sets of the Star Wars universe. Known for his "great face" and iconic turns as authoritarian villains in The Blacklist, Preacher, and Alcatraz, Johnny pulls back the curtain on the "panic" and imposter syndrome that still fuel his craft today. We explore how a RADA-trained talent who once packed shelves at Toys "R" Us transitioned from "unconsciously unskilled" to landing direct offers from Jon Favreau and sharing the screen with legends like Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. Whether he's a mysterious warden or finding the vulnerable lost boy inside a master villain, Johnny's story is a raw, hilarious, and inspiring masterclass in resilience and the power of simply keeping the motor going. These are the unforgettable stories that landed Jonny Coyne right here. Jeremy Allen White's ROTTA THE HUTT's inclusion in THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU was a surprise to many a Star Wars fan. Not since Dave Filoni's 2008 animated-film The Clone Wars had we seen Rotta, then affectionately known as "Stinky". In that film, our heroes are tasked by Jabba The Hutt to bring his son back safely. Fast-forward to 2026, and in Favreau's/Filoni's film, the Hutt-twins task our heroes to bring their nephew back safely. Something about poetry comes to mind...Today we take a look at the surprising inclusion of this character and how compelling he is within the story, while also furthering Jon Favreau's recurring filmic-theme: fathers and sons. From Iron Man to Chef, Favreau explores these relationships and with The Mandalorian And Grogu, Rotta serves to further continue to explore this theme. A question lingers though... do Hutts engage in polycules? We also have a bit of fun with a Q&A from listeners! Might need to make this a permanent segment.• • •TRIAD Of The FORCE is a STAR WARS+ podcast hosted by Gus, Nani, Nad, & Chase—Puerto Rican and queer creators sharing deep dives, and heartfelt conversations from a galaxy far, far away. It's a packed line-up of directors this week on The Interviews, folks. Directorpalooza? First up, we bring you an extended excerpt from our spoiler special interview with The Mandalorian And Grogu, Jon Favreau, who tells Chris Hewitt about his intentions behind the first big-screen Star Wars film in seven years. Then Chris leaps onto Zoom to have a lovely natter with the great Joe Dante about his beloved (eventually) 1987 sci-fi comedy, InnerSpace, which is out now on 4K UHD, and English director Mike Figgis about his hard-hitting, Oscar-winning drama, Leaving Las Vegas, which has also received the 4K UHD treatment. The Figgis chat is an extended excerpt from an hour-long deep dive into the movie which, like the Favreau interview and Team Empire diving deep into The Mandalorian And Grogu, can be found over on our spoiler special feed. empirespoilerspecials.com, if you haven't already taken the plunge. THIS IS THE WAY! There's a new a Star Wars movie out now so of course Bill Z and Steve take a break from comic books to bring back our good friends podcast veteran Craig Lantz and The Reel Gay Movie's Mike Lovins to discuss The Mandalorian and Grogu!! The movie was directed by Jon Favreau, who co-wrote the film with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor. Based on the Disney+ television series The Mandalorian, the film finds Pedro Pascal returning to star as Din Djarin/The Mandalorian alongside Jeremy Allen White, Jonny Coyne, Martin Scorsese, and Sigourney Weaver. Set after the fall of the Galactic Empire and the end of the Manadalorian series, Djarin and his apprentice Grogu are enlisted by the New Republic as bounty hunters to track down former Imperials. A new mission involving the rescue of Jabba the Hut's son does not go as planned and we find Mando and Grogu trying to set things right. So hit play to hear Bill, Steve, Craig and Mike talk about this latest tale set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away!!
We now enter Phase 2 of the MCU. After the massive success of The Avengers, it made sense to return to their most popular hero Iron Man. This time Jon Favreau steps away from the director chair to make way for the man who really jumpstarted the RDJ comeback, Shane Black. Despite the high box office, fans were left split on the film for one big reason. What was it? And where do we fall? Let's talk about it.

Star Wars is back on the big screen for the first time since 2019. But is Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian and Grogu any good? Eric, Grace, and Haley saw it together on opening weekend and then recorded this discussion minutes after the credits rolled. It's safe to say we're still stunned by what we just saw. As we process our thoughts, Eric praises an emotional storyline, Grace critiques the fight sequences, and Haley highlights an unexpected allegory. Plus, we share our reactions — some of them intense — to swole Hutts, faceless acting, and greasy-spoon sandwiches.

Dave Filoni, during a Mandalorian and Grogu interview with Jon Favreau, mentions the World Between Worlds and how it doesn't work as time travel or grants the ability to meddle with events. If this is the case, then I don't understand how the WBW works, considering Ezra, in Star Wars Rebels, pulled and saved Ahsoka from Darth Vader through the portal in the World Between Worlds. If it's not time travel, what is it? THEORY SABERS - https://theorysabers.com/ Best sellers: Ani III - The Chosen One - https://www.theorysabers.com/product/... Our latest guest on Soundtracking is, as Edith mentions at the start of our chat, someone we owe a huge debt of gratitude to. For the impossibly likeable Jon Favreau was the very first guest she interviewed for the podcast, literally a decade ago! Back then, Jon discussed his take on The Jungle Book; today, he is with us to talk through the music of The Mandolorian & Grogu, which is scored by friend of the show, Ludwig Goransson
From the state where Trump claims he'd win if Jesus counted the votes, Sarah and Sam joined Tim live on stage in San Diego to debate who is the most cucked Republican and whether Bill Cassidy should get credit for his late-in-the-game YOLO opposition to Trump. Also, Jeff Bezos has Tim rethinking his opposition to socialism, and how could Bibi and Trump have had such an absurd plan for a new Iranian president? At the top of the pod, Amanda Carpenter runs down the thug fund (don't call it a slush fund) and Trump's effort to get permanent immunity from any tax liability for himself and his family. Plus, POTUS's revenge tour may backfire, and the administration may try using Fulton County as a test case for taking over vote counting in Democratic counties. Amanda Carpenter, Sarah Longwell, and Sam Stein join Tim Miller.show notes: Jon on how Trump's global health cuts are undermining the response to the Ebola outbreak Lauren on how the Georgia governor's race may be the most important one in the country And we still have a few tickets left for TONIGHT at Bulwark Live: LA at 7pm. Tennessee is on the front lines of the racialized politics that has resurfaced in the South since SCOTUS gutted the Voting Rights Act. Its Jim Crow legislature stripped the people of Memphis of congressional representation for their majority-black city, and Democratic legislators have been punished for protesting the move. The state is looking less like a democracy by the day. Meanwhile, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Louisiana are also working on dismantling black political power in their states. Plus, Trump is the anti-farmer president, Stephen Miller is still running an immigration crackdown, and Tim sees promising signs in Tom Massie's loss in Kentucky. Tennessee's Rep. Donald Trump—as a private citizen—sued our government, which he runs, and then "settled" the lawsuit with $1.8 billion that he stole from the U.S. Treasury. See, he needs a secret fund of taxpayer money so he can pay not only reparations to his band of Jan 6 rioters, but also to incentivize future (election) criming on his behalf. In a special emergency TNL, Tim, Sarah, and JVL break it all down. Plus, Martha explains how Iran's demands for money may be why Trump won't officially end the war. Sadly, it's taken some time, but voters seem to be figuring out that Trump only cares about himself, his ballroom, his blatant corruption, and his unquenchable desire for revenge. 2026, so far, has been bad for his approval ratings. And his continued weakness on the world stage, especially when it comes to Iran and China, will only drive his numbers down more. At the same time, Trump has done permanent damage to our standing among our allies. Plus, Dems need to get serious about AI as well as a stock-trading ban for public officials—including presidents—Trump has far too many unexplained medical conditions, and Tim explains his support for commuting Tina Peters' prison sentence.Bill Kristol joins Tim Miller.show notes Monday's "Morning Shots" Lauren on how the Dems should respond to an aging Trump's health issues Bill's "Bulwark on Sunday" with Rob Flaherty, Kamala's deputy campaign manager San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria and our own MAGA culture expert, Will Sommer, will join the gang on stage at Bulwark Live: San Diego this Wednesday. If the IRS goes ahead and gives in to Donald Trump's demands for a MAGA slush fund, it would be outright theft of the public's money and corruption on a scale that we've never even contemplated in this country. Plus, Kash's ghoulish snorkel at Pearl Harbor, the Supreme Court's VRA ruling gave permission to practice discrimination, MAGA loves the racism and sexism of the 1950s, and the penile implant expert managing the Hantavirus outbreak. Because Donald Trump has so thoroughly hijacked the Department of Justice, the public can no longer be confident that a criminal investigation or indictment is legitimate. The default assumption is that official DOJ actions are about servicing Trump's needs for validation, power, or retribution—like the latest seashell-related charges against Comey. Acting AG Todd Blanche acts like a mobster, wears his partisanship on his sleeve, and appears to be breaking the law himself. And at the FBI, Kash Patel presides over a smaller and demoralized and distracted staff, which leaves Comey worried for the safety of our country. There's a lot going on in this year's midterm elections. Tennessee Republicans approved a new map on Thursday, splitting the majority-Black voting district that encompasses the city of Memphis – and possibly eliminating the state's only blue congressional seat. The president also got to flex his muscles this week in Indiana's Republican primary. Candidates with his support beat at least five Republican incumbents who had voted against his redistricting plans in the state. So what does all of this mean for the midterms? To find out, we talked to Jon Favreau. He's a co-host of Pod Save America. And in headlines, Russia preps for its annual Victory Day Parade, two reports shed new light on the Iran war, and President Donald Trump tries to square up with a child in the Oval Office.Show Notes: Call Congress – 202-224-3121 Subscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/y4y2e9jy What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcast Follow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/ For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday
