Time just flies! It feels like yesterday we wrapped 2023, and we are already at that time of the year again, with a 2024 warp-up! 2024 was a bit different than previous years, as we had only one themed series, and the rest of the episodes were a one-off, covering a variety of topics. And, early in the year, we also celebrated the 100th episode, in a live 2-hours show, that introduced many of the guest from the previous 3 years of podcasting. In our themed series we covered Session Replay products. This seris was very informtive and can prove to be a valuable tool for product managers. We continued this year covering great books for product people, and several frameworks and mindsets. Some of our guests shared with us methods to craft our products' story, naming our products, and what goes into making decisions. Product Coaching grew steadily this year and was the topic of several episodes. We learned what it takes to be a product professional to build IoT products, and we caught up on the state of Product Analytics products. And of course, we couldn't ignore AI and GenAI and how they help us - or the potential they can have in helping us. Finally, we introduce a startup product that help product people in a unique way.We would like to thank each and every guest that came on the show! We couldn't have done it without you: Tovit Neizer, Orly Zeewy, Gil Broza, Jakie Flake, Marty Cagan, Eva Hongyan Gao, Yelena Liman, Oz Nazilli, Dave Martin, Henry Latham, Ricardo Vital, David Pereira, Dennis Chow, Anat Eldar, Vincent Pavero, Mandar Karlekar, John Fontenot, Zach Phillips, Nikki Zavadska, Christoph Steinlehner, Assaph Mehr, Phil Hornby, Aakash Gupta and Tedde van Gelderen. We can't wait to continue this journey next year!We have some great episodes planned, and looking forward to learning and sharing more in the Product for Product Podcast!Happy New Year everyone! Assaph Mehr's Hot Take - AI Is Just A Tool - What Matters Is How We Use It (with Assaph Mehr, Product Leader and Fantasy Author)

Assaph Mehr is an Australia-based product & people leader as well as a published fantasy author, who also uses his writing chops to produce a newsletter, "Rise of the Product Leader". His hot take? That LLMs and other generative AI tools are the equivalent of an angle grinder. For those who don't know, angle grinders have big, spinning metal discs that make them ideal tools for certain use cases (like cutting up concrete) but are terrible for anything else. Assaph believes that LLMs have a large number of use cases where we should use them, but that there's still an inevitable need for human decision-making and a sense of taste that AI will never have. Find Assaph on LinkedIn or subscribe to his newsletter. If you're interested in fantasy novels, check those out too. If you'd like to appear on Hot Takes, please grab a time!

Product Management is not about frameworks. Yes, using some frameworks that fit well in your situation can save us a lot of time by organizing our thoughts and allowing us to collaborate better. And before there were frameworks, there were mindsets. In this episode we are talking about a couple of mindset that help product managers and anyone who is building products to align better with the chaotic nature of our work. Our guest on the show is Assaph Mehr, a product and people leader. He is currently a Senior Product Manager of AI at Squiz, a Product Management Advisor & Mentor at My Mentor Path, a thought provoking blogger, and an author (or several ward-winning stories of Togas, Daggers, and Magic series - for lovers of Dark Urban-Fantasy Detectives and Ancient Rome!).On the episode, Assaph shared with us two of those mindsets - VUCA and Cynefin, and how they relate to our jobs as product people.Join Matt and Moshe as they explore with Assaph:How he got to product managementHis experience building AI products, and some of the challenges they raiseWhat are these two mindsets all about (and how to pronounce Cynefin!)How to understand, and harness Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity (VUCA)The balance between all of these, and how each of our domains can have a different mixIs it possible to quantify things like uncertainty or complexity? How he defines strategyThe 5 domains of Cynefin, and the importance of fitting our problem to the right domainCan Product Managers impact their orgs to think in these ways? Can product job seekers test organizational fit by probing to see if they have the right mindset? And so much more…You can connect with Assaph at:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/assaph/ Blog: https://assaph.substack.comBlog post about Cynefin and VUCA: https://assaph.substack.com/p/cynefin-and-vuca * You can find the podcast's page, and connect with Matt and Moshe on Linkedin:Product for Product Podcast - linkedin.com/company/product-for-product-podcastMatt Green - https://www.linkedin.com/in/mattgreenproduct/Moshe Mikanovsky - linkedin.com/in/mikanovsky/ Note: any views mentioned in the podcast are the sole views of our hosts and guests,  and do not represent the products mentioned in any way. Please leave us a review and feedback ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Episode Notes Centuries before Christmas there was Saturnalia, a week-long Roman celebration of gift-giving and debauchery. And before Halloween turned into a children's costume party, the priests in ancient Rome used to open the lapis manalis - the stone doors to the underworld - to let the spirits of the dead roam the cold November streets.Come see how life was in ancient times when ghosts were allowed a vacation one night a year, in this Story of Togas, Daggers, and Magic - for lovers of Ancient Rome and Dark Urban Fantasy.Contact info for Assaph MehrAmazon affiliate---- Personal Notes ----Sign up for my mailing list to get weekly updates and never miss a story again!---- About Tall Tale TV ----My name is Chris Herron, and I narrate audiobooks. In 2015, poor control of my diabetes left me legally blind for the better part of a year. The doctors predicted an 80% chance I would never see again, but I changed the way I was living and through sheer willpower beat the odds.During this time I couldn't read or write. Two things that I had been turning to for comfort since I was a small child. With the sheer amount of stress I was under, this was devastating. My wife took me by the arm, lead me into the local library, and read out titles of audiobooks to me. I chose the audiobook versions of books I had loved such as the Disc World series, Name of the Wind, Harry Potter and more. They brought my favorite stories to life in ways I never thought possible, and helped me through the darkest time of my life.Once my vision recovered, I maintained a love for audiobooks. I decided I would turn my focus from being a writer to becoming a narrator. I devised Tall Tale TV as a way to help out all the amazing authors in the writing communities I had come to love before my ordeal.I created Tall Tale TV to help aspiring authors by providing them with a promotional audiobook video. A way to showcase their skills with the written word. They say the strongest form of advertisement is word of mouth, so I provide a video to a platform of readers to help get people talking. Help them spread the word.Click the share button and let the world know about this author.---- Story Submission ----Got a short story you'd like to submit? Join RevKess and Kalisara as we talk to Assaph Mehr about his Felix the Fox series. Assaph has been a bibliophile since he learnt to read at the age of five, and a Romanophile ever since he first got his hands on Asterix, way back in elementary school. His main influences in writing are Steven Saylor, Lindsey Davis, Barry Hughart and Boris Akunin. Assaph now lives in Sydney, Australia with his wife Julia, four kids and two cats. By day he is a software product manager, bridging the gap between developers and users, and by night he's writing - he seems to do his best writing after midnight. Murder in Absentia: A young man is found dead in his bed, with a look of extreme agony on his face and strange tattoos all over his body. His distraught senator father suspects foul play, and knows who to call on. Enter Felix the Fox, a professional investigator. In the business of ferreting out dark information for his clients, Felix is neither a traditional detective nor a traditional magician - but something in between. Drawing on his experience of dealing with the shady elements of society and his aborted education in the magical arts, Felix dons his toga and sets out to discover the young man's killers. You can follow Assaph on his blog, Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, and Goodreads.
