PMP: Crow Joins Pagan-Musings at KZUM

RevKess is joined by his new co-host Crow. Crow has been a guest on the channel a couple of times and has been a friend of both RevKess and KaliSara for around a decade. He joins the show to fill the chair left open with KaliSara's recent leave-taking to spend more time with her family and her writing career. We wish her nothing but the best and look forward to having her visit from time to time as her schedule allows - like when book three of her Runespells series come out! Crow comes to the channel with years of experience as a community leader with the Order of the Red Grail. He is the high priest of ORG and has been active in the Lincoln, NE Pagan community for a number of years. This first episode is spent allowing the listeners to get to know him a bit. With ramblings and musings from both he and RevKess, the show goes everywhere from a basic intro of Crow to a discussion on elder-care with many stops in between. This is also the first episode recorded in the KZUM Community Radio production studio. A HUGE thank you to KZUM for allowing PMP to use their facilities. We will soon be broadcasting through their podcast stream. Please visit the PMPChannel Facebook for details on that.

My non-fiction work ranges from a variety of books about Wicca - because I'm a fully ordained Wiccan priestess - to one about West Highland White Terriers! And of course I've always got more stories and books in the pipeline. I'm a member of the Gecko Gals Ink (GeckoGalsInk.blogspot.com), a group of five Tucson authors who write in a wide range of genres, meet the public at book events all over town, offer seminars for authors at all levels of expertise and aspiration, and sponsor the All-Zona Book Fest every autumn. I'm on the board of the Mother Earth Ministries-ATC, a Tucson-based Neo-Pagan prison ministry (www.MotherEarthMinistries.org). I'm also a co-founder of the Tucson Area Wiccan-Pagan Network (www.TAWN.org).  In our spare time (!) Usually this means service men and women who have died in action. For some it is also a time to honor those within their family who have passed away, for whatever reason. RevKess's family used to visit the family cemetery plots and place wreathes and flowers on the graves of everyone who had gone before, regardless of their military status. Over the years this has changed. His mother still does what she can, but being in her 70's she has slowed down a little. The Grail is a metaphor that evokes deep wonder of the meaning of Mystery. The humble vessel that emerges from dusky pages represents the Divine Feminine, the archetype of Light and Life, nurturing yet firm. We know of the Holy Grail of old, yet the Mystery of the Mother continues to unfold. The Order of the Red Grail is a 501 (c)3 Wiccan-based church that embraces holistic, Earth-centered spirituality. The Nebraska Community has been in existence since 1993, with a focus on teaching and spiritual leadership. Since the Grail seed was planted in Nebraska, the Order has grown into a vital organization wherein members develop as healthy, spiritual adults in a challenging society. Adult education and trans-personal psychology weave together to support pagans in their personal and faith growth. The Grail seeks the wisdom of the Divine Feminine, in the mystery of the Grail, for guidance.  Growing up the son of a spiritual leader who led an active community, Crow learned firsthand about the importance of effective ministry. He began attending Grail functions and became a student in 2007.  He now servea the Grail as High Priest and the instructor for Grail Seekers and Students. In his private practice, he works primarily with the Morrigan.   His interests include: Men's Studies, Ogham, Divination in general, mediation, and other diverse magickal arts, and building an inclusive, mutually supporting community.   He enrolled in Woolston-Steen Seminary in 2015, and is currently working on his Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Wiccan Ministry. Barbara Snow joins KaliSara and RevKess for a discussion of her books and works. In her own words: Who I’ve been doesn’t matter except to give you a feel for who I am now. I lived many years in Houston, San Francisco, the mountains above Denver, and Cuenca, Ecuador. I lived with husbands, children, grandchildren, and happily alone with furry friends. I’ve resided in a house in the ‘burbs, on a tiny house boat, in a 23-foot travel trailer, in old Victorians, on a gorgeous ranch and in a modern apartment. I’ve sat in circle with shamans and teachers – learned, healed, taught and led. Doing the work, I discover the path to my next becoming. Books have always been my best friends and mentors. When I was about ten years old, I decided to write one. I pulled out Mama’s old manual, portable typewriter, managed to load a sheet of fresh white paper, and sat there staring at it, totally at a loss. I had no idea how to start. I live on different land now, on a different continent, in an historic city in the Andes. Cuenca has four rivers that run through it and I live right alongside one of them, the Yanuncay, where the tumbling waters, draping willows and eucalyptus groves feed my soul. The cobblestone streets and Spanish architecture of the old city nourish me, too, call me to feel how history and nature inform my human experience. The spiritual energies have called many of us here, and as the spiritual energies flow, so do the creative energies. The spiritual and artistic communities in Cuenca are rich and supportive. It’s a glorious opportunity to lean into the stories, poems and perceptions asking to come through me. Get a sampling of Energy Unveiled on InstaFreebie or sign up for Barbara's newsletter!

Without stepping too heavily into politics, KaliSara and RevKess remind the listeners that words do indeed have power. From bullying in school to hostile workplace environments all the way up to fat shaming the guy at the all you can eat buffet, WORDS have POWER. We often say things without thinking, what we say can have a huge impact on those who hear them. What's worse is when a person deliberately says something knowing the negative impact it has on the directed target. RevKess and KaliSara have talked both the idea of "words have power" and bullying in previous years, but felt it important to address these concepts again.
