"Marble Hall Murders (Susan Ryeland #3)" is a novel by Anthony Horowitz, the third book in the Susan Ryeland series, featuring the character who edits the fictional detective Atticus Pünd. In this installment, Susan Ryeland is tasked with editing a continuation novel titled "Pünd's Last Case" written by Eliot Crace, who is also the grandson of a deceased children's author. Eliot believes his grandmother was murdered, and he's hidden clues about her death within his novel. As Susan delves into the manuscript, she discovers uncanny parallels between the fictional world and real-life Crace family secrets, ultimately leading her to become a target. Editor Susan Ryeland has left her Greek island, her hotel, and her Greek boyfriend Andreas in search of a new life back in England. Freelancing for Causton Books, she's working on the manuscript of a novel, Pund's Last Case, by a young author named Eliot Crace, a continuation of the popular Alan Conway series. Susan is surprised to learn that Eliot is the grandson of legendary children's author Marian Crace, who died some fifteen years ago—murdered, Elliot insists, by poison. As Susan begins to read the manuscript's opening chapters, the skeptical editor is relieved to find that Pund's Last Case is actually very good. Set in the South of France, it revolves around the mysterious death of Lady Margaret Chalfont, who, though mortally ill, is poisoned—perhaps by a member of her own family. But who did it? And why?

Marshal Iwaasa, last seen on November 17, 2019, in Lethbridge, AB, Canada, was attempting to access a storage unit. Earlier that day, he informed his mother he was returning to Calgary to resume his IT studies, though he had not actually re-enrolled. Days later, his burnt-out truck was found on November 23, 2019, at the remote Brian Waddington Hut trailhead near Pemberton, British Columbia, over 1,200 km away. Nearby, items linked to Marshal, including smashed phones, clothing, gaming consoles, and an expired passport, were scattered. His essential belongings, such as phone, laptop, backpack, wallet, and contact lenses, remain missing. The truck showed signs of being stripped. Marshal has not been seen since. It is suggested that this case might be connected to another disappearance.Daniel Reoch, originally from Squamish, faced numerous challenges throughout his life. Raised by his uncle's family in Edmonton due to his mother's drug addiction and eventual murder, he later returned to Squamish, where he had children with his girlfriend. Despite the care he received, Daniel struggled with drug addiction and had frequent encounters with the police. His final days were marked by a mysterious disappearance after being seen intoxicated on a ranch near his reservation. His car was later found abandoned, with his phone inside, on November 25th, 2019—just two days after Marshal's truck was discovered. He wasn't declared missing until January 7th, 2020, raising questions about why his absence wasn't noticed earlier within the small community.Contact us at: weeknightmysteries@gmail.comInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/weeknightmysteriesTikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@weeknightmysteries

Today I discuss killing your own career or are you aiming for something else. 2025 Joy Taylor seems to be very hot takey. Before she made sense now it just seems like she just wants to go viral and click baiting. Is it worth it? Frying your career for short term exposure or should you play the long game. Also the last segment got cut short but my point was let's stop glorifying drug dealers, gang members and matifa people. They are bums that raid communities, poison the streets and try to put fear into people lives. The hell with it. And I don't listen to it in songs, I don't watch it in movies and I wish you wouldn't either.

KILL YOUR DARLINGS (William Morrow; June 10, 2025) is New York Times bestselling author PETER SWANSON's most ambitious novel yet. The book marries an evergreen hook—a terrible secret unravels a marriage—to a one-of-a-kind structure: this is a thriller told in reverse. Swanson—a “master of suspense” (Crimereads) who specializes in psychological thrillers that subvert expectations—“never disappoints” (NPR). Critics call his novels “ingenious” and “devious” (New York Times Book Review), “inventive” (Wall Street Journal), “complex, twist-filled” (the Associated Press), and “so ruthlessly clever it's criminal” (Entertainment Weekly). If you haven't yet jumped on the Peter Swanson bandwagon, now is the time. KILL YOUR DARLINGS is poised to be the breakout thriller of the summer. A terrible act binds a husband and wife to one another forever. But when the marriage goes south, how far will each of them go to protect their secrets? Smart, unique, and unnerving, KILL YOUR DARLINGS is the latest incredible read from Peter Swanson.
The giallo films from good ol Dario Argento just keep comin! Time to get a bit meta and introspective with Tenebrae as we discuss the nature of self-critique, feelings on "challenging" works, and - all things aside - how delightful it is to see someone's hand lopped off by an axe. Also, a "brilliant" pitch for how a modern remake of this film should be made. There's just one more (modern) stop on the giallo train after this - buckle up!You can shoot us an email at whatisamoviepod@gmail.com

Help keep our podcast going by contributing to our Patreon! What was the worst year to be alive? Some researchers have a very specific answer to this question: 536 AD. This is a year when the global temperature dropped, and it was winter all year round—for multiple years. The sun disappeared for 18 months as the world was covered in a veil of sulfuric dust. Crops failed. People starved, and fell to eating each other and warring over scarce resources. From China to Mexico, thriving civilizations collapsed. And the culprit? A volcano. Or maybe multiple volcanoes. But which ones are still a mystery. This is a historical mass murder, and it's still unsolved. A wealthy couple is murdered after a glamorous party—jewelry stolen, town abuzz. Their estate files an HO3 claim for the stolen jewelry and loss in home value due to the stigma. But does the policy cover reputational "diminution in value"? Notable Timestamps [ 00:37 ] - The scenario involves a wealthy couple poisoned in their mansion, with jewelry stolen and a claim submitted under their HO3 policy ISO 2011 edition. [ 01:39 ] - Trivia Time! Who are the six main characters of the board game Clue? [ 03:40 ] - Diminution in value refers to a property's market value being less than before a loss, even after full physical repair, due to stigma. [ 04:35 ] - The common argument against covering diminution in value is that policies typically cover physical loss and physical repair, not consequential or economic losses. [ 06:16 ] - First-party auto and property policies share similar loss settlement language. [ 07:47 ] - In Royal Capital Dev., LLC v. Maryland Cas. Co., No. S12Q0209, 2012 WL 1909842, — S.E.2d — (Ga. 5/29/12) [reviewed at PLRB, Prop. Ins. L. Rev. 8462 (2012)], the court allowed for diminution in value in a first-party property claim, drawing an analogy to auto claims. [ 08:50 ] - If there were physical traces like blood or bullet holes from the murders, it could potentially establish a physical loss, strengthening an argument for diminution in value, even if the cleanup cost itself is minimal. [ 10:28 ] - Real estate experts or appraisers could testify by comparing the home's value without the incident to similar properties affected by negative events. [ 13:04 ] - It's crucial to check your jurisdiction; while Georgia allows it, many states disallow it, and others have no specific case law on the matter. [ 14:00 ] - Tim provides a recap of the points above. The couple figures there must be two baddies: one to create the diversion and another to execute the abduction. The next day, a team of elite investigators led by former MI6 hostage negotiator, and Audrey's personal hero, Connor Miller arrives. The kidnapper calls and demands $70 million. In Paris, Nick and Audrey accompany Miller to the meeting point but are ambushed and forced into a van. A scuffle leads to a crash, and the kidnappers frame the couple. Miller appears to die in a car explosion, but a mysterious thief snatches the briefcase, only to be killed by a second assailant in a garbage truck who steals the money. The duo arranges a final confrontation at the Eiffel Tower. Jillian Bell has a bad habit of talking herself out of acting jobs. She was supposed to play a much bigger role in Adam Sandler's ‘Murder Mystery 2' and almost starred in one of Netflix's biggest hit shows. So when it came time to make her directorial debut ‘Summer of 69' (now streaming on Hulu), she decided to stay (almost entirely) behind the camera. In her return to this podcast, Bell talks about casting SNL's Chloe Fineman as a stripper fairy godmother-type character opposite newcomer Sam Morelos in her surprisingly sweet teen sex comedy. She also gets into her own complicated history with SNL 15 years after she spent one season at the show as a writer who desperately wanted to be in the cast. Plus, Bell reveals what it was like to reprise one of her first TV roles in the series finale of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm' and tells a deeply embarrassing story about the first and only time she met Justin Timberlake. Watch on Philo! - Philo.tv/DTHWe meet Nick, a New York police officer who desperately wants to be a detective but keeps failing the test. He's married to Audrey, a hairdresser who dreams of visiting Europe—a promise Nick made at their wedding but has yet to fulfill. After their 15th wedding anniversary dinner, Audrey calls him out on it, only for Nick to surprise her with the news that he's actually booked the trip. (He totally hasn't—but sometimes you gotta spend thousands of dollars to keep up a lie.) On the flight, Audrey meets billionaire Charles Cavendish, who invites her to a gathering aboard his family's yacht. When Nick hears about this, he's like, “No way. I have a whole thing planned.” But when that plan turns out to involve a packed tour bus, he gives in. Aboard the yacht, Nick and Audrey meet quite the cast of characters: Malcolm Quince (Cavendish's billionaire uncle), Suzi (Cavendish's ex-fiancée and now Quince's wife), Quince's son Tobey, actress Grace Ballard, a colonel and his bodyguard, a rapper, and a race car driver. Later that evening, Quince arrives and announces that Suzi—his new wife—will now be his sole heir, cutting everyone else out of the will. Naturally, this does not go over well. Just before the new will can be signed, the lights go out—and when they come back on, Quince is found stabbed through the heart. Nick jumps into detective mode and tells everyone to stay on the yacht. That night, Tobey is found dead in what looks like a suicide. When they arrive in Monte Carlo, a local investigator boards the yacht to question everyone. The other guests point fingers at the “random Americans.” The investigator tells Nick and Audrey he knows they're guilty and promises to prove it. At the Monaco Grand Prix, Nick and Audrey begin their own investigation to clear their names, interrogating the other guests. That night, the colonel's bodyguard lures them to his room and drops a bombshell: Quince once married the colonel's fiancée while the colonel was in a coma. She later died in childbirth. Just as things get juicy, someone knocks. Nick and Audrey hide, and when they come out, the bodyguard has been shot—he dies before naming the killer. Audrey is shaken when a news broadcast reveals that Nick isn't really a detective. She storms off and is picked up by Cavendish, who urges her to leave Monte Carlo immediately. Eventually, everyone winds up at a lake. Nick and Audrey reconcile and start to suspect that Cavendish and Suzi are romantically involved and conspiring to split Quince's fortune. While fleeing a masked attacker with a blow dart, they run into Carlos, the race car driver. Suzi is killed with a dart, and Nick and Carlos chase the killer but lose them. Nick and Audrey head to Quince's mansion to confront Cavendish—only to find him poisoned. They call the investigator and gather the remaining guests, but everyone seems to have an alibi. Nick and Audrey then reveal that Grace, the actress, is the mastermind. She's actually the daughter who was believed to have died in childbirth. She convinced Tobey to kill their father and then killed him herself. When she tries to escape, Nick shoots her in the arm. But the mystery isn't over—Carlos is revealed to be the second killer, seeking revenge on Quince for the injuries that left his father disabled. Carlos takes the investigator hostage and tries to escape in a car, but Nick and Audrey stop him—with help from that overcrowded tour bus they skipped earlier. In the aftermath, the investigator thanks them and offers to help Nick finally earn his promotion. The couple continues their European adventure.
