New playlist of all the "new shit" we've ever discussed on the podcast: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5LOn9LRJ8lnvnCbpl6fKVG?si=124e27a4921a46cb We were so excited to get into another Red song for this episode! But first, we discuss all the excitement of the New Orleans Eras Tour! Including the lengths that Sam went to in order for Rachel to experience the Sabrina Carpenter moment on stage. We also discuss the difficulty that is staying up late, especially for the final show of the Eras Tour in Vancouver. Sam finally secured his ticket to see Coldplay and Aunt Trish (famous Swiggie) gets a special shoutout. The new shit is James Bay (new to Rachel) and Niceboy Ed. We've also FINALLY compiled an entire playlist with every song we've ever mentioned on our "new shit" segment. We will be updating that playlist weekly along with the release of every podcast episode. The cocktails were warm and spiced (ground spices, to be exact). The discussion of the song had us debating the "ooo-ay's" of it all. Sam fathoms what the equivalent of girls spinning in brand new dresses is to men. The movie 10 Things I Hate About You makes yet another apperance. And of course, the significance of the song "Holy Ground" is discussed in full.
"What I do doesn't matter" is one of the more common sentiments of our time. We use it to avoid acting when we see problems. A similar rationalization not to act: "I have faith that younger people will solve our environmental problems. After all they will be affected more." People say these things to avoid acting, avoiding personal responsibility. If anyone can say she deserves to relax and not have to work on problems, nobody would tell someone with incurable cancer she can't spend her time how she wants. Trish has incurable cancer. She worked her whole life to enjoy her retirement. She didn't grow up planning to act on sustainability. She didn't plan to take my sustainability leadership workshops, but her niece, Evelyn, and sister, Beth, told her about taking the workshop so she did.In this episode, you'll hear Trish sharing why acting on sustainability and leading others is spending her remaining time how she wants. She once envisioned flying around in her retirement. She could and no one would judge her. But having learned that she can make a difference from the workshop, she's acting on sustainability. Living by your values and helping others live by theirs isn't deprivation or sacrifice. The above is my read of Trish's situation and motivations. Listen to the episode to hear her describe why someone who could do anything she wants and doesn't have to care about people far away or younger finds helping future generations and people far away she'll never meet the best way to spend her precious time. Then sign up for a workshop to create as much meaning in your life. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Aunt Trish swings by and oops! it's an intervention. Haircuts from drifters, somewhat useful role plays, and the inevitability of being the villain in most of your own stories is the meat of this particular podcast sandwich. In this special episode Sam and Rachel invite their Aunt Trish, a fellow Swiggie and self proclaimed Boomer listener, onto the podcast to discuss “Evermore” from the album of the same name. Rachel made a point to remind everyone she was staring out a window at the beach while Sam and Trish were catching their death in the wildest winter. They share differing perspectives on the complicated lyrics but in the end, whether weather be the frost or violence of dog days, they agree this is one of the finest songs about hope in the state of depression. They only wish the recording could have gone on forevermore. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/swift-and-swigs-with-sibs/message

This week Christie and Nicole have a special guest, Christie’s “fake cousin”, Michael Berran. Michael is a Promotions Assistant for SiriusXM Radio, which means that he is one of the people that is responsible for getting things ready when a celeb comes to town! Michael shares what it was like to intern for Andy Cohen, work with people like Taylor Swift, and how he occasionally has people scream at him when he calls to tell them they won a grand prize. Michael's mom, Aunt Trish, was also sure to chime in during this interview when she thought some important details were being missed. What does Rich mean to you and why should you take the time to think about it? "For so long, I felt like I was failing in life because I never had a lot of money. Rich to me was how many dollars you had, what you owned and what you gave your kids." Redefine Rich shares with us that there are many ways to feel rich. I began to see the gifts in having children to love, guide through life and play with. The richness in having a husband that supports my own personal growth and journey, a mom that loves me and supports me as well as true friends makes me feel full of richness. What is being rich for you? I hope you get as much out of this interview as I did. I sure hope you find richness in your life today, and believe that you can achieve your dreams. Meet Matt Ham, author of Redefine Rich. Matt is a family man passionate about his wife and three children. Secondly, he is an insurance agent and had experienced great success in his day job. Then he felt a calling to write a book. He tells us a story about how his aunt was terminally ill, and while in the hospital the nurse helped her. They exchanged words and the nurse said, "You make my life rich." Matt knew this deeply touched him and later on it helped shape his book. He knew why he needed to write the book, but didn't know how. He feels her legacy is being carried on through this book. He shares a story about his Aunt Trish, I fell in love with her and if had been her time to stay, I would have loved to share her story with you. Thankfully Mat shares a few pieces with us of her life. She had a Disney mentality. Every movie has a similar story. There is always a tragedy that ends in victory and triumph. Aunt Trish had been diagnosed with Cancer a few weeks before Christmas, and still hosted a big party. She ran around being cheery and passing out eggnog. "Rather than seeing our scars as places of brokenness we need to see them as places of healing." How can you invest in others when you feel you have nothing to give? Matt told us without a moment's hesitation, there are many ways. Here are a few that you can start today Smile at people Hold doors for people Hold a door and smile at someone!!! If you would like to learn more about how you can have more richness in your life, you can buy the book and the link will be below for you. If you can not afford to purchase a copy now but would like to read his book, I would be happy to share my copy with you.
