This is the podcast where a brother and sister discuss two of their favorite things: Taylor Swift and cocktails! Every episode we'll feature a Taylor Swift song, we each pair it with a cocktail inspired by that song, and then we breakdown every musical mixology moment. At the end of every episode, one of the sibs announces which song they've chosen for the next episode. The cocktails help to fuel the discussion, so make one for yourself and join us!

Did this episode cause Rachel to cry tears of sadness or tears of joy? Yes. Sam excitedly got to describe his experience attending a Swiftie Brunch in Denver. It felt like the Eras tour all over again! Then he shares some riveting information he heard regarding the legal aspect of the trademark for "Reputation (Taylor's Version). This completely changes how we feel about the announcement for the upcoming album. This episode is all about moms! And though we both agree the song discussed is quite cheesey, Rachel makes it clear how special this song is to her. The cocktails were springy, floral, and inspired by our mom. The Gilmore Girls, Jimmy Buffet, and some guy named "Steve" all make an appearance in this cheesey, sentimental, and goofy episode.Happy Mother's Day!Check out our "new shit" playlist on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5LOn9LRJ8lnvnCbpl6fKVG?si=68ca3032d3aa470bShare with us your thoughts on today's episode by sending an email to swiftandswigspodcast@gmail.com.Leave us a written review on the Apple Podcasts app!Follow and rate our podcast on Spotify!

Rachel dressed up for this episode and is totally in her "Miami Vice" era. Sam on the other hand NEEDS a vacation. Someone take us to Florida!!! We answer a fun lil' Taylor Swift-themed questionnaire, and boy was it difficult! Send us your answers to the questionnaire too! Our new shit segment brought in some classical music and some chill indie rock vibes. Sam chose the song Florida!!! to discuss this week because he thought they could use an escape from last week's sad song. And what an escape it was! Taylor and Florence both sing about wanting to escape their lives, their pasts, their relationships, etc, and go to a place like Florida, whether that's literal or metaphorical. We all have a Florida we like to escape to and forget about our lives back home. But for Taylor, what really is home anymore? Sam felt self-counscious about his choices, Rachel reassured him that his opinions are valid, and together the sibs drank everytime they had the same song in the same spot! Turns out, Rachel and Sam both have the same #1 song. Can you guess which song it is? Then, the sibs delve into one of Rachel's most favorite Taylor Swift songs of all time. In fact, it's in her top 10! It's about time they tackle this one. But why did Taylor release this song AFTER the Midnights album came out. Even though this is Rachel's birthday episode, Sam finds a way to make it about him. Classic little brother move. How did it take us 112 episodes to finally break down one of our most favorite tracks from folklore? All we know is it was worth the wait. The spirit and lore and TWIST of it all for this song made this one of the more fun episodes we've discussed in a while. Of course, we couldn't just dive into the song right away. We had to spill some Taylor Tea.... Sam insists on going into yet another discussion about Reputation (Taylor's Version). Rachel seems to think TS12 is in the works, but Sam isn't so sure Taylor has enough inspiration to release that album yet. What do you all think? Our new shit brings Bon Iver and Billie Marten into the conversation. Sam is still on his month-long cleanse, so he brings a cocktail idea to pair with this song. Rachel, meanwhile, goes FULL IN. We reveal there's going to be a major twist in this song, but you have to wait until we get there to find out what it is (in the rare event you have no idea already). Rachel finds a way to connect Taylor's songwriting to her relationship with Joe Alwyn. Fine, we'll give it to her. The song we discuss this week was different than any other one we've done before. Taylor was inspired to write this song not based on events she's experienced in her own life (maybe?), but rather from reading the Hunger Games book. Dolly Parton meets modern pop? Hell yeah! The cocktails come into play and Sam gets angry at Rachel for stealing his title. Which title is that? The lore behind this massive hit takes a while to dissect. Another quiet week in the Taylor Swift world means the intro to our podcast is now a game show! We try to play a Taylor Swift game and, although we got the end point of it all, it definitely took us a while and a lot of laughts to get there. The new shit is inspired by Beyonce and our familial connection we share with an incredible artist who's worked with her! Then we get into the cocktails which lean heavy into the puns. The song we discuss is one the most ICONIC off of TTPD and, although Taylor's been broken hearted for a lot of her life, this song serves as a reminder that she CAN do it. What is "it?" It's perfoming on the Eras Tour and being the icon that she is, of course!

Well, the day has finally come for the sibs to tackle a song that they collectively DO NOT enjoy. In fact, Sam goes so far as to say this is his "least favorite" Taylor Swift song of all time. Does that stop us from having a good time? Absolutely not! The Taylor Tea discussed goes into detail about what Taylor and Travis were doing (and drinking...easter egg) at the US Open. And Taylor's encouragement to research and vote in the upcoming election was inspiring and genius. Does anyone know what Taylor's IQ is? It certainly wasn't high when she wrote this song.....

This episode was recorded in our cabin purchased by our Grandmother, so what better song to choose than "marjorie!" Though it was emotional for both of us, we felt so satisfied getting to share stories of our grandmothers as we discuss the song where Taylor reflects on her own grandmother, Marjorie. The cocktails were inspired by our Granny and Grandma, and the sounds of our family cabin provided a nice backdrop. Call your grandma and tell her you love her!

Don't you worry folks, this is NOT a sad episode. In fact, it starts out rather happy and gave us an opportunity to catch up on the things that we've been wanting to discuss before Taylor rudely interrupted us with her Eras Tour performances. Rachel has an idea for Taylor to create a docu-series about the Eras Tour. Sam ties in several Creed moments that we're pretty sure only we will enjoy. We get into our "New Shit" segment with a podcast first: a podcast! Then we introduce this episode's song and pair surprisingly delicious cocktails to it. The music behind Sad, Beautiful, Tragic is simple and, well, beautiful. We break down the lyrics and debate who the song could be about. Julia Stiles somehow makes her first appearance in this episode, which confused us because her name is literally a Taylor Swift song. Coincidence? Tune in to hear it all go down!

The moment has finally arrived for us to discuss Sam's favorite song off TTPD!! Or should we say….Sage's favorite song?! Taylor has broken her silence about Vienna and given us behind the scenes clips from the Eras Tour! Is this just a teaser, or will there be more footage and a potential documentary? Rachel thinks she shares the same “new shit” with her brother this week, but Sam shocks her with a new artist (yet also an Eras Tour opener like Sabrina). The cocktails were funny and a bit rogue, but so delicious and fun. Sam can barely keep it together talking about the music behind his favorite song. And Rachel loves the confidence that Taylor evokes through these lyrics. She might sound a bit crazy at times, but Taylor's sexy energy shines more than anything else in this iconic song.

We're back with another episode on The Tortured Poets Department! The episode starts off uniquely with us both live reacting to the surprise songs of the Eras Tour in London night 7! We process what we hear and develop some theories over Taylor's upcoming plans to release (or not release) an upcoming album. Rachel cries. Then we dive into our new shit and discuss the same album, different songs. Post Malone is really doing something with his new country album! The song of the week inspired us both to make cocktails following the same exact approach, but we didn't make the same drink. Then we get into the spirit, the musical mixology, and the Taylor with a twist for this incredible song that we are both obsessed with.

Hey Swiggies, what if we told you we're back?!!! After our three week break, we couldn't think of a better song to continue our summer of Taylor, cocktails, and podcasting. The song “seven” is one that invoked lots of discussion, but not before we dove into ALL the Taylor Tea we've been wanting to catch up on over the past few weeks. We share our thoughts on Vienna, London, and Taylor's questionable fashion sense. Then we dive into the new music we've been listening to as of late. Pop boy fall is around the corner, y'all! Once we delve into the summery cocktails this song inspired us to make, we break down the iconic folklore track one musical beat and lyric at a time. With connections to the book Secret Garden, this song tells a story truly inspiring to Taylor. But why did she write this song when she did? Tune in to find out all our thoughts! Hey….please leave us a review on Apple Podcasts if you could. Love you, Swiggies!

This is a rerun from June 9, 2023.... Sam and Rachel don't waste a lot of time on Taylor Tea in the beginning of this episode as they are excited to get into the lyrics of the latest streaming release of a Midnights track from the Till Dawn Edition, “Hits Different.” They both admit to first washing their hands of this song when it came out because they thought that if it was right to listen to then Taylor would have released it right away on streaming. But after careful listen they know now nothing has ever made them so wrong because, to put it blunt, this song just hits different. They try to make sense of the argumentative, antithetical dream girl that are the lyrics in this song as it sounds like a bop but the lyrics are catastrophic blues. But that bridge? Well it can just take them awayyyyyyyyyyy!

And at tea time everybody agrees you need to swig on tea....tea cocktails to be precise. The conversation bounces from surprise songs to Swiftie tests to Swift related artists to follow. Sam also introduces a drinking game to play during the Reputation tour show if you want to throw your own party. Then the sibs finally get to the biggest Tea of all when they discuss the rumors flying about Taylor and Joe. We all thought it was gonna be forever but it appears the relationship is going down in flames. And while the sibs don't want to talk their talk and go viral, they decide to get it off their chest so they can get it off their desk before moving on to next week's regular Swift & Swig of the week.

We start this episode off by going on a tangent about friendship bracelets and how we would reimagine the Eras Tour! Rachel has come to terms with the fact that she will (most likely) not be attending the Eras Tour again, but we come to terms with that by realizing that Taylor will certainly be going on tour again in the future. New shit is discussed and we go Norwegian and country with our musical choices. Then we finally get to talking about a mutual FAVORITE Taylor Swift song. Although You Are In Love doesn't give immediate summer vibes, the simplicity behind it is comforting and soothing for any time of year. From the story behind how the song was written to the musical production and the simplistic detailed lyrics, together we swoon over this deluxe 1989 track. Okay, say what you want about this song....it's just so silly at its core and it's honestly a whole lot of fun! That said, we certainly don't shy away from offering our fair share of criticism on the lead single off Taylor's Lover album. Sam shares a traumatic experience that he associates with "Me!". Rachel brings up the subject the song might be directed towards. Together, we discuss the puzzling fact that a male vocalist was chosen as a featured artist. Oh! And WHY was the iconic "SPELLING IS FUN" line removed?! Speaking of, Sam had a lot of fun with his cocktail this week, and Rachel dedicated her cocktail to her younger brother. Happy birthday, btw. All in all, this song, and subsequently this episode, are so much fun to discuss. We promise that you'll never find a podcast like us!

This is one hilarious and slightly unhinged episode! Sam finally admits he has been having recurring dreams of Taylor Swift and he's acutally sooo funny in his dreams. Rachel has an admission of her own: she claims to love Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks, yet doesn't know how to pronounce any of their songs. A fraud yet again. Why does Sam continue to bring up Justin Timberlake on this podcast? The "new shit" discussed ranges from anti-mainstream to mega-mainstream. Then we introduce a VERY special guest to the episode. Though his cameo is short, Elliott introduces the song of the week and why he selected it for his mom and uncle to discuss. He even brought his own cocktail! The sibs' cocktails are fun, although they had to dig dip for lyrical inspiration. The spirit, musical mixology, and Taylor with a twist are all broken down. Is Taylor singing about her bodyguard? Or is this another song about Al from "Al City?" Tune in to find out!
