Something different this week! We had a press release from Channel 9's (a major television station here in Australia) current affairs program 60 Minutes. They do deeper investigations and special reports. This week, world renowned foreign correspondent and now Australian investigative reporter and journalist Peter Stefanovic, will be airing his story about eSports that, in his own words, all of the research he had done couldn't have prepared him for. We've known all along how eSports is starting to take off in Australia, and it's fun listening to someone who is only just finding out about it, have their mind blown. He talks about his experience at the Intel Extreme Masters, and his interviews with some of the world's top paid Australian eSports and twitch streaming stars! Check out all of GOA shows.

This week we welcome Jamie Skella to the iRacing podcast to discuss his new venture in iRacing. Trax Racing. We talk to Jamie all about Trax racing that pits drivers against a rival for the season that they are tasked in beating each week and over the 4 week season. Trax Racing has so far seen an invitational series with some pro drivers and some of the best sim racers and content creators joining in to beat their rival. It is a great concept and a fascinating discussion on how it all came about. We then get to chat to Jamie all about the Melbourne and Australian eSports scene and where iRacing fits into that, and what the future may hold for eSports and racing sims in the future in Australia. We look into the difference between real-life sports and eSports and how they should be working together but don't seem to be. Finally, we chat about what it is like opening the eSports gaming bar, GG EZ, and where that may head into the future. After our chat with Jamie, we discuss all the latest results in the iRacing world from the Australian perspective and chat about leagues such as Ozicar, Anzcar, ODSE, in2sim switch up series and of course, all the action from the latest V8 Scops round. We also look at the latest patch notes and a little problem appearing in a few drivers over the previous weeks regarding stutter while racing. If you want to check out Trax Racing, you can do that https://trax.racing/ (here) If you want to join our Facebook group, you can do it https://www.facebook.com/lockedonlads (here) And please review, rate and subscribe to the podcast and join our discord https://discord.gg/qyUQ2hR (here).

Show Notes: Esports business Gfinity Australia is ceasing operations in November. Parent company, Here, There and Everywhere (HT&E) have cited difficulty in making this “sustainable,” profitable and getting value in the local market. We discuss if there is a problem with finding value in the esports sector in Australia? Lifting off from there, Supercars plans to keep investing in their eseries even though their partner Gfinity Australia is ceasing local operations. We talk through the possibilities of Super Rugby if they decide to offer more matches in front of a paywall and sell direct to fans. And we revisit Ahmad’s cricket bet from a fortnight ago.
