Join us to hear from Boyd Hannold and Alex Chang on a behind the scenes look on the transition of lead pastors at Princeton Alliance Church. This lecture is from the 2024 Mental Health Conference "Intergenerational Wholeness for Asian Americans: Integrative Approaches to Christian Spiritual and Mental Health Formation." My Journey with Best Practices for a Mentally Healthy Church Staff by Alex Chang, recorded on January 13, 2024. Find out more about the conference here: https://caac.ptsem.edu/events/2024-mental-health-conference/ Abstract: This workshop will provide leaders with practical tools in order to elevate the importance of mental health for church staff. It will also weave in personal stories of how a young-ish Asian-American pastor learned to prioritize mental health for a staff that includes both ethnic and age diversity. Some of those stories will discuss seeing mental health professionals (both for personal and marital reasons), leading from the second chair, utilizing one's own Asian-American background to connect with others, and sharing a template for best practices. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ptscaac/message

A bit about Alex: Graduated college in 3 years with a degree in Finance. He bought his first property right out of school, a 6 bedroom for $160k. While living there, he started renting out 2-3 spare bedrooms, what is now commonly known as “house hacking.” He'd go on to sell that house two years later for $200k. He would go on to rent out his next property on Airbnb on the weekends and gross enough to cover the double the mortgage. Realizing his passion for real estate and helping others, he started working as a lender shortly thereafter at one of the fastest growing mortgage companies, LoanDepot. These days he's doing $1-2M a month in loans. Mostly working with investors, focusing on cash-out refis and BRRRR deals. In addition to conventional financing, he has some knowledge on creative financing strategies; bank statement loans, cash flow loans, hard money options.
Hear from Alex look at the story of Jesus' crucifixion in light of how Barabbas was an unlikely figure that ended up taking a lot more attention than you would have thought.

On today’s episode of Balance with Sam, I talk to a former client and now an amazing friend of mine, Alex Chang. Alex made such incredible progress working with me over the past year or two, and is now transitioning into another phase in her life. We have an open and honest conversation about what it's like to make the leap from a 9 to 5 and to take total control, feel good in your body, build up the confidence to be able to make that leap. Top Takeaways The unknown can feel so scary and it can be hard to take that leap. Where do you find the courage and faith? It’s about cultivating the trust within yourself that you will figure it out. You’ve probably been through the hard stuff in your life but you got through it. You know how to look after yourself. You might need to face down some opinions from your friends, your family or your coworkers. Hold on to that belief inside you. Find your mentor and someone you can borrow belief from. Someone who's where you want to be. If having a business of your own means freedom and family and the life you want and balance, being able to create your own schedule and clients and all of these things, talk to someone in your life who has that. They won’t have the exact path and the exact steps you need to take but they can guide you, they can keep you on your path. They will be your cheerleader. You are your purpose. Your life experience is your purpose. You get to teach others from your life experience. Whether it be the skills you've learned, the experiences that you've had or the mistakes you've made. When you teach from your place of purpose, that’s where the magic happens. You can rewrite your story and reclaim your most authentic self. Think about what freedom means for you. What does that feel like? What does it look like? What does it taste like? What does it smell like? You'll know when you're ready. Trust yourself to carve your own path. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

The CBC's Yvette Brend and the University of the Fraser Valley's Lenore Newman talk about more COVID-19 cases at poultry facilities. In looking at Alex Chang’s path to becoming CMO of the San Francisco 49ers, you could say he took a bit of a slant route (I’m slowly upping my football vocab!). His journey began when he decided to ditch his pre-med studies to explore healthcare consulting and then went on to American Express where he spent more than 13 years across various marketing functions. So what brought him to take the marketing helm at the 49ers? The opportunity to transform brand strategy, engage new audiences and rebuild the marketing organization from the ground up. And that’s exactly what Alex and his team are focused on today as they look to move away from a legacy campaign to a new, more future-focused brand positioning launching in April. Listen in to hear more about how Alex is thinking about captive engagement in today’s competitive experience economy.
Alex Chang has it figured out at the ripe age of 25. "retired" working for an outstanding charity called www.operationbreakthrough.org Alex stops by the show to drop some knowledge

Vagabond Restaurant’s Alex Chang has quickly built a reputation for his outspoken personality and eclectic cuisine. Chat Chow TV sat down with the 25-year-old executive chef to find out more about his background, what he thinks of the Miami food scene and what’s in store for the restaurant. Chang first came into the spotlight a few years ago after filming a documentary with about his college supper club that caught the attention of restaurateur Alvaro Perez Miranda who invited him out to New York City to do a pop-up dinner. The dinner went well and the two stayed in touch, eventually reconnecting for the Vagabond Restaurant concept. He admits that he has been a bit outspoken about Miami’s food scene since arriving but that he didn’t necessarily mean it in a negative light, “I thought I was just saying what everyone was saying to me but I guess no one wants to say it publicly,” but adds he thinks that there is prime opportunity for the city’s food scene to grow because it isn’t overly saturated like other markets. As for the inspiration of his menu it’s a reflection of items that he enjoys eating — with heavy emphasis on local vegetables, which has been a challenge for him in the summer months when produce isn’t easily available. “We’re finding ways to challenge ourself and do something different instead of do something just order tomatoes from California,” he adds. “If we showcase a vegetable on the menu we want it to be from around here.” As for the future of the restaurant, after a successful launch of brunch and lunch he admits to toying with the idea of of a special tasting menu with hopes of launching that down the line. Curious what he thinks of Miami’s culinary journalism? Check that out at the 10 minute mark. Or if he thinks Miami has truly embraced him? Find out all that and more in the video above.
