Pastor Chris Winans begins a new series on the book of Isaiah, entitled Behold My Servant. The series focuses on specific chapters in Isaiah that speak to the Messiah, Jesus Christ. This week we explore chapter 42 verses 1 to 4, that demonstrate a servant ruler, not a tyrannical ruler. Pastor Chris closes by leading us in prayer inviting Jesus to gently change the dark places in our hearts.www.cornerstonebrighton.com
Pastor Chris discusses the second Servant Song in Isaiah, from Chapter 49 verses 1 to 13. The ‘servant' in this passage is correlated with an idealized form of Israel, and is ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ- by the forgiveness of sins as the restoration of the covenant to not just Israel but to all nations and peoples. When we are restored to Christ not only are we eternally secured to be with Him in heaven, and ultimately the new heaven and new earth, but also we are partnered together with God in our everyday lives so that our lives have a far deeper and more fulfilling meaning than just making money and being successful.www.cornerstonebrighton.com

Tom continues our series in Matthew's Gospel, preaching from Matthew 12:14-21. In this passage we see Jesus' response to the Pharisee's plot to kill him - and in doing so, his fulfilling the prophecy spoken through Isaiah. We see his character as God's chosen servant, his love for the lost and broken, and what it all means for us today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_NEdKPdtEg

Behold My Servant! – the glory of Jesus Christ the Servant of God the Father
This Sunday marks the beginning of Advent - a season of waiting. Advent is a time of anticipation as we look forward to Christmas when we remember Christ's first coming, and a time of eager expectation as we wait patiently for his appearing. Advent is a season of hope- Against much opposition, and into a world where hope is so often battered and bruised, feeble and failing, Matthew reminds us that Jesus will not break the bruised reed or snuff out the smouldering wick. Justice will prevail, but not without mercy. Not by strength or by power, but by the Spirit. This is our hope.
