Happy New Year! We begin 2026 with a new sermon series on Hebrews, this week Pastor Chris Winans discusses Hebrews Chapter 1, verses three to fourteen, where Jesus Christ is clearly established as greater than everyone, including Angels and all spiritual beings. The tapestry patterns are types of Shadow weaving. Shadow weaving is a technique that creates illusionary patterns, depth, and dimension by alternating light and dark yarn. The visual pattern emerges from how the light and dark threads interact; light follows dark, creating blocks that look like they are on different planes; one drawing out the other. Our prayer is that interacting with the art of weaving would point you to the Master Weaver who has, for our benefit, woven together all the threads of the scripture to show us the greatness of Christ.www.cornerstonebrighton.com

This week Pastor Chris Winans discusses distractions, and how this adds to fear and anxiety. Basing the discussion on Luke 10:38-42, where we see Martha being distracted by many other things while Mary chose to focus on Jesus. In our culture today is it very difficult to not be distracted by 24/7 notifications to important things on our cell phones, pastor Chris encourages us to intentionally and proactively set aside time to focus on what matters most: our relationship with Jesus.www.cornerstonebrighton.com

This is the third week of our sermon series Peace. Be Still. Pastor Chris Winans discusses fear and courage as it relates to our culture as found in the Bible. The most courageous man to ever live was Jesus Christ, and we define courage clearly to discover that courage is not a justification to be reckless, but rather to be bold in the face of fear fueled with the compassion, power and love of Jesus Christ.cornerstonebrighton.com

Most of us are not literally bowing down and praying to a physical idol, but perhaps more pervasive in our culture is worshiping a “designer” god that has the characteristics of our own individual choosing; with the things we like included and things we don't like discarded. Are you worshiping a god of your own making, or the God who made you? www.cornerstonebrighton.com

Pastor Chris discusses the second Servant Song in Isaiah, from Chapter 49 verses 1 to 13. The ‘servant' in this passage is correlated with an idealized form of Israel, and is ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ- by the forgiveness of sins as the restoration of the covenant to not just Israel but to all nations and peoples. When we are restored to Christ not only are we eternally secured to be with Him in heaven, and ultimately the new heaven and new earth, but also we are partnered together with God in our everyday lives so that our lives have a far deeper and more fulfilling meaning than just making money and being successful.www.cornerstonebrighton.com
