This weeks infeCtious guest mix comes from Germany's Marcel Demand. At the age of 18 years Marcel began to deal more and more with electronic music, its development and above all with DJing. HIs first performance in front of a small number of people led him to develop himself professionally. First equipment was bought and every day he spent a few hours behind the decks. His current technical skills he learned through constant practice. His sound can be described as groovy impulsive House with influences from all genres of electronic dance music. When he takes his place behind the DJ booth, he feels directly connected to the music and the audience. By listening to different sets and tracks by DJs / producers from around the world, he found his current sound, and lots of inspiration. This combination of creativity, technical skills and his devotion to the audience took him to where he is today. Since the beginning Marcel can look back on many long club nights all over Germany. But his biggest success he had in 2012. He got the chance to play a warm up set at the legendary Cocoon Club on one of the famous Envy My Music parties. Late 2012 he was in the national finals of the annual Movida Corona DJ Competition and reached second place. When he then was allowed to play at an event with MOGUAI, his popularity increased again. Very positive feedback from organizers, DJs and the audience show him that he is on the right track. He is without doubt a rising talent of the scene and there is plenty more to come. Ferrocolor HD - InDeep Nov 2013 (InDa Sessions 1)It's May 2015 and I'm currently in India, seven weeks into a six month sabbatical. After a month of traveling and site seeing we’ve landed in Varkala, Kerala. It's low season at this cliff-top beach town and so the place is quiet, thanks to the forthcoming monsoon. We checked into InDa Hotel for three days and have been here for three weeks. Our first week was so rainy that locals were suggesting the monsoon had come early. What better opportunity to kick back and catch up on some mix playlists that have been sitting untouched for years.Given the rain and grey skies, I homed-in on something reflective to begin: a selection of deep house grooves originally compiled in November 2013. But this isn't miserable, cold, London rain. It’s hot, humid and thundering. In fact, the steamy weather you hear in the mix was recorded from the terrace of our bungalow here at InDa. These tunes may be two years old, but they blend perfectly today.Tracks of note include Wicked Games. Complete with Jamie XX-style steel pan climax, it transcends the Chris Isaak-crooned 80s original, of which I was never a fan. The Bob Moses track, All I Want, also takes a brilliant diversion towards the end when the bassline kicks in. I first stumbled on All I Want via Ben Watt’s BBC 6Music show. Mario Basanov works his magic on Crazy P’s Changes before we get a dawn glimpse of Cocktail Skies. Must be a shepherd’s warning. As Type 1 ‘Normal’ bias tape from a budget brand it was quite popular through the decade as a cheaper alternative to the likes of TDK-D.
