Vuosi 2019 oli Nicon tähän astisen elämän raskain. Vakava työuupumus johti lopulta keskivaikeaan masennukseen ja Nico kärsi myös kroonisesta ahdistuneisuushäiriöstä, joka johti pahimmillaan paniikkikohtauksiin. Syitä uupumukseen oli useita, mutta pääasiallisina syinä olivat pitkään jatkunut unettomuus, useat päällekkäiset työtehtävät sekä oma vaativa persoonallisuus ja perfektionismi. Ennen varsinaista burnoutia Niko nukkui vuosia todella huonosti eikä hän nähnyt tätä ongelmana, vaan ajatteli, että hän tarvitsee keskimääräistä vähemmän unta. Loppuvaiheessa hän ei enää kyennyt nukahtamaan ollenkaan. Meni pitkään ennen kuin Nico suostui hakemaan apua. Ex-vaimo ilmoitti hänelle huolestaan jo useita kuukausia aikaisemmin ennen kuin Nico hakeutui työterveyteen. Sieltä hänet passitettiin välittömästi sairaslomalle. Lääkärin mielipide oli, että todennäköisesti Nico ei ole ollut työkykyinen enää pitkään aikaan. Ensimmäisenä sairauslomakuukautena Nicon vointi huononi entisestään ja lääkäri totesi tilani lähentelevän jo vaikeaa masennusta. Hänelle määrättiin masennus- ja unilääkitys ja sen lisäksi alkoivat käynnit työpsykologin vastaanotolla. Tila lähti hitaasti paranemaan ja viimein 3,5kk sairasloman jälkeen Nico pääsi palaamaan töihin. Ensimmäiset kuukaudet olivat todella vaikeita ja jatkuva pelko sekä ahdistus uudesta loppuun palamisesta varjosti työntekoa. Tilanteesta teki erityisen vaikean silloisen esimiehen suhde, joka piti Nicon uupumusta lähinnä osoituksena heikkoudesta tai huonosta työmoraalista. Diesmal gehen Eastenders und Arndt mit Dirty Doering auf Zeit- und Weltreise – back to the Roots von Baden Baden nach Berlin via Frankfurt – von Sansibar nach Südafrika. Flashback: Kiffen auf dem Klo im Zug zur Loveparade. Selbstverständliche geht es auch um das gemeinsam mit Niconé produzierte Album „Last Exit Space“, das auf seinem eigenen, längst global respektierten Label Katermukke erschienen ist. Wir kommen auch auf Künstliche Intelligenz zu sprechen und natürlich bleiben auch die Entwicklungen in der Berliner Clubszene nicht unerwähnt. Wie eigentlich immer erweist er sich als gut gelaunter Gesprächspartner, der kein Blatt vor den Mund nimmt und auch mal kritische Töne zur Szene vom Stapel lässt. Und wenn er manchmal unvermittelt laut lachen muss, geht in der Postproduction sofort das rot Lämpchen an! Mehr als einmal mussten wir seinetwegen den Pegel um 5 dB herunter regeln ;-).
