We've got podcasts right, freshly chilled, right out of the fridge for you this week. Liz goes back to her macabre roots with Martinis and Murder, Nick dips into the listener submissions with BiPositive+, and Zane turns to science with the award winning Important, Not Important. Then we review last week's offerings.Liz Recommends - Martinis and Murderhttps://www.oxygen.com/martinis-murder-true-crime-podcastFrom serial killers to mysterious disappearances to infamous murder cases, John and Daryn break down one murder over the course of one or two episodes, making heavy subject matter a little more palatable by not checking their senses of humor at the door. Freshly shaken martinis also help. Spending hours on research per case, John and Daryn not only tell the narrative of each murder but also delve into compelling and little-known facts about the lives of each killer and victim. What was the motivation? Was the killer a psychopath or a sane person who simply snapped? What was the impact on the victim’s family, friends and community? For both: Any story that grabs you.https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/martinis-murder/id1194278396Nick Recommends - BiPositive+Join Mari and MD – bi women, therapists and media enthusiasts – in discussing issues and exploring the sexuality continuum in an unapologetically queer podcast. For Zane: EpisodeFor Liz: EpisodesZane Recommends - Important, Not Importanthttps://www.importantnotimportant.com/podcastThe 3-time Webby-nominee for Best Host, Best Science show, and Best Podcast Episode dives into the brains of the world's smartest people to provide Action Steps you can take to fight for a better future -- for everyone. In Episode 75, Quinn & Brian discussed: Beating the crap out of childhood cancer with science and... zebrafish? Our guests are Dr. Jaclyn Taroni and Dr. Genevieve Kendall. Dr. Kendall is a Postdoctoral scholar at UT Southwestern Medical Center who utilizes zebrafish genetic models to understand how pediatric muscle cancers develop and better identify any therapies we can use to treat it. Dr. Taroni is a Principal Data Scientist at the Childhood Cancer Data Lab (http://ccdatalab.org/) , an initiative of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, and her job is to help childhood cancer researchers like Dr. Kendall use data to answer some of the most important questions in the field. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: fuck kid cancer. This conversation gets really nerdy and is surprisingly fun, and it offers some much-needed perspective — because there ARE people out there smarter than us using science to solve problems that may seem impossible from our positions at home right now. If you haven’t already heard, we received a Webby nomination for Best Podcast Episode in the Science & Education category. We’re really proud to be nominated again… but, we also really want to win. So, today, we’re re-airing the episode that received a nomination and (https://vote.webbyawards.com/PublicVoting#/2020/podcasts/individual-episodes-mini-series-specials/science-education) . Back in Episode 70, Quinn & Brian discussed: When things are broken, when the people who are working on those things are also broken, and why we need to help them. Our guest was Nikki Silvestri, the founder and CEO of Soil and Shadow, the Co-Founder of Live Real, and the former Executive Director of People's Grocery and Green for All. She is a nationally recognized thought leader and general good doer, including being named as one of The Root's 100 Most Influential African Americans and receiving both ELLE Magazine's "Gold" Award and OxFam America's "Act Local, Think Global" Award. We don’t hesitate or feel like we’re overselling things when we say that what Nikki has to say is something that most people need to hear, and this could be a truly transformative message if it falls on the right ears. Brian said it, Quinn took credit for it, and now we hope you take it to heart. Have feedback or questions? Which is the Best Podcast: Episode 69 - LEWD SPECIAL Lee Kyle and Sammy Dobson Out Of Byker Grove meet each week and decide which is best between thingsof the same or similar names (Microchips or Micro Chips for example). It is enjoyed by people who like it. As it's Episode 69, it seemed apt to do a rude special. Can't really go through the list of decisions here but, well, if you know that cream pie has more than one meaning you might get the jist. Oddly, it's only slightly more rude than the live episode that goes out next week that was recorded in front of a group of Catholic 6th formers...
Which is the Best Podcast - Episode 64: Robin Williams vs Robbie Williams Each week, comedians Lee Kyle (Had an argument with a poet) and Sammy Dobson (Panics when she loses things) meet and decide WITB between things of the same or similar name. A big one this week as we decide between: ROBIN WILLIAMS (Mork) and ROBBIE WILLIAMS (Proto Murs)
