In this episode, I talk with Strength and Conditioning Coach and Entrepreneur, Micah Kurtz. Micah Kurtz is the Assistant Athletics Director & Director of Sports Performance at Windermere Preparatory School. In addition, he consults on projects regarding youth athletic development education for the NFL, USA Basketball, USA Football, and Nike Football. Previously, he was the Director of Strength and Conditioning at AC Flora high school (Forest Acres, South Carolina). During his time there, AC Flora won 14 state championships and was twice named the state's athletic program of the year. Coach Kurtz also serves as the Strength and Conditioning Consultant Coach to the 9-time high school basketball national champions and winner of the 2016 Dick's National Tournament Oak Hill Academy. During his time there he has worked with NBA players Sindarius Thornwell, Quinn Cook, Keldon Johnson, and Cody and Caleb Martin. Kurtz has been named a state strength coach of the year three times and was named the NHSSCA Southeast Strength Coach of the Year in 2021, a Top 40 under 40 Sports Professional by Coach & AD Magazine in 2018, and the NSCA National Strength Coach of the Year in 2016. Coach Gizzi spent his five previous seasons on the Packer's strength staff as a conditioning assistant. Prior to that he worked on the University of North Carolina's staff as well. An undrafted free agent by the Denver Broncos in 1998, Coach Gizzi played linebacker at the Air Force Academy. In 2019, Gizzi was inducted into the Air Force Athletics Hall of Fame.
