Welcome back to Returning Home: The Podcast! I have taken a little hiatus while I had some big life events happening: getting married, bringing home a new puppy, and opening an in-person office/healing space! There has been a lot to celebrate in the 3D world. It feels good to be back on the show with you. In this latest episode of Returning Home: The Podcast, I invite you to learn more about Reiki, which is my spiritual home. I explain a bit about the history of Reiki and how it got to the West from Japan, what the power of Reiki offers to you, and my own personal path for getting to Reiki (spoiler alert- I once thought all religion/spirituality was really corny!). The reasons you should listen to this episode are: You want to understand more about what Reiki is. You are on a spiritual journey and you don't feel like you have a spiritual home as of yet. Hear about my path to this approach to spirituality. Pastor David Goh asks the question, “Do we really want to attend a church where everyone votes the same, and if so, why?” Maybe for you there is a single issue that far outweighs everything else (for instance, abortion or social injustice). For others, there are multiple biblical priorities to weigh together (such as supporting both the enforcement of law and concern for the immigrant). And what if God places on another believer a call to advocate for a particular priority, which causes them to vote differently from us? Will this divide our unity as Christ's Body, or increase our conversation? Listen to this timely and thought-provoking message by Pastor David Goh.
"When are we going to buy an electric ice cream maker?" Ryan asked as he and Dad took turns cranking their old one. Dad grinned. "Not until Old Faithful here quits doing its job. To me, all this work is part of making ice cream." As Ryan took a turn at the crank, he remembered remarks made by one of the boys at school. "Dad, when you were a kid, were you ever laughed at for being a Christian?" "Sometimes," replied Dad. "But as a kid, I was laughed at for lots of reasons. I didn't have many friends, and I was better at math than at sports, so other kids made fun of me. At least when I was teased for being a Christian it felt like a worthy cause--even though it still hurt." Dad paused, then added, "My father used to remind me that the Bible tells us to rejoice in persecution." "You mean--be glad?" asked Ryan. "Even when kids laugh at me?" Dad nodded. "It doesn't mean you should be glad they're being unkind to you. It means that real joy doesn't depend on what others think of us, but what God thinks of us--and He loves us more than we can imagine. So much that He sent His Son to die for us so we could be saved." "But feeling joyful when others are teasing you is hard to do," Ryan said. "Even harder than turning this crank." "Yes," said Dad as he took the crank from Ryan, "but Jesus is always there to help us, even in difficult times, and we can be joyful about that. He was rejected by others when He died on the cross, and He tells us we'll be rejected by others too. But He was willing to suffer and die so we could have eternal life with Him. Knowing that is what brings us joy when we're faced with persecution." Dad stopped turning the crank. "It's kind of like this ice cream. Knowing how good it will be helps us crank it." He grabbed a couple spoons. "And I think it's finally time to taste it," he said, handing one to Ryan. Ryan put a spoonful of ice cream into his mouth. "Wow! That's good." Barbara J. Westberg How About You? Are you a joyful Christian? Maybe you're dealing with something like sickness, grief, or even persecution that makes it hard to feel joyful. Those are difficult situations--ones you may need to talk to an adult about so they can help--but you can still be joyful, even in times like that. As you look to Jesus and remember His promises, He will fill you with His joy, even in difficult times. Today's Key Verse: Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. (NKJV) (Psalm 51:12) Today's Key Thought: Look to Jesus for joy
"THE HELP THAT COMES FROM GOD" Nov. 10 It is Luke “the beloved physician” (Col. 4 v.14) who travelled with Paul in the later years of his preaching – for it is evident he was with him when he returned to Jerusalem (Acts 21 v.17) and Paul was arrested. The detailed account we are reading is therefore an eye witness account, and Luke shows himself in many ways to be a diligent historian as sceptics trying to prove otherwise have had to admit.. We read the 3 fascinating speeches Paul gave in his defense in which he stresses how his life was turned around on the road to Damascus to cause him to preach the message of Jesus “to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light … that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.” [26 v.18] Genuine faith brings us into a position of ‘holiness.’ Read Heb. 12 v.14 The “darkness” in the world was dramatically pierced by that light, indeed only 300 years later Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire. However – history shows how the teaching of Jesus and the Apostles had become seriously corrupted by that time. Nevertheless God’s word endures in written form, and now brings “light” into the minds of those who will take its message seriously and respond to what they read. Paul is one of the outstanding examples for them to follow. We noted today how Paul said to King Agrippa, “to this day I have had the help that comes from God” [v.22] and his letters and what Luke has written illustrate this. Paul is ready to appeal and challenge everyone, great or small, as to what they believe about the meaning and purpose of their lives. He says to the king, “do you believe the prophets? I know that you believe.” [v.27] to which the king responds, “In a short time would you persuade me to be a Christian?” Maybe some have too much time! Many are not sufficiently conscious of “the help that comes from God” and fail to read the scriptures daily and allow God’s word to live in their hearts and minds. For ourselves, and we know it is the case with others, it is only when we look back on the varied pathways of life one fully realizes the help that has come from God. Do you want that help? Do you need that help? Can you sense that help in the pathways of life you have travelled? Key questions to meditate on today.
Are people surprised when you say you are a Christian? Maybe its because you are not living like Jesus and loving thy neighbor? Or maybe you have see others who do not reflect a loving, Christian lifestyle and think that of them? That's a problem, people, listen in ... nobody wants Jesus to say, "I never knew you..." --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/reality-reflections/support
Watch the video at www.everymanministries.com #1 – MY DISCIPLE HOLDS TO MY TEACHING Hey guys – it’s Jeremy – thanks for being a part of the Every Man Livestream Study. Have you ever said to yourself, “Is that guy a Christian?” Maybe we see them behaving a certain way or doing something that raises the question in our minds. When someone makes a claim, there is a natural expectation we place on people once they make it. But how do we know if a person is the REAL DEAL…a real friend…a real follower…a real disciple of Jesus? As we will see in today’s study, the question shouldn’t be “How do we know?” Rather, the question should be: “How does Jesus know?” In the Bible Jesus provides a clear picture of a true disciple or follower. In fact, that is what this new four-part series called “MY DISCIPLE” is all about. We are going to look at the statements Jesus makes about anyone claiming a true connection to him. Now let’s join men’s expert and Pastor Kenny Luck from Crossline Church in Laguna Hills California for Part 1 of this powerful series and learn how a true disciple is a man who HOLDS ON to Jesus’ words.
On this week's show, the Supreme Court does something wrong, Google does something wrong and then kills it, and Nine Inch Nails has something done wrong to them AND STILL tries to help people out. Sounds like the hard rocking band of Satan is the most Christian? Maybe the GOP is wrong about a few things. Sit back and give this a listen. You may learn something. www.theFWOTshow.com
