Join me as I fly into Edinburgh and make my way north to the Spiritual Home of Scotch Whisky - Lindores Abbey. It's been a few years since I visited the distillery and back then, their spirits were still new to the world and had not aged the required 3 years to be considered whisky. But we took time to chat about their recreation of Friar John Corr's Aqua Vitae. Now the whisky is here and the distillery is maturing into a nice profile of tours and experiences. We'll learn what has been going on with Lindores Abbey, get to know what the tours are like, how you can enhance your experience at the distillery, and find some cool side trips. Plus, we'll have another installment of This Week in Whiskey Lore. Enjoy and if you find Lindores Abbey is a distillery you want to visit, head to whiskey-lore.com/flights and go to the profile to add it to your free wish list in the Whiskey Lore Travel Guide. Jim explains that the world's ignorance of God leads to hurt and opposition but emphasizes the need to testify to Jesus through love and unity. He also highlights the role of the Spirit in guiding believers and finding peace amid trouble through sacrificial love.

Alan tells Jakob that Kate turned down his invitation to hold a weekly Spiritual Home session at the church, in support of Peggy's stance. Jakob can't believe it after what she said yesterday, but goes to see Usha on Kate's behalf about borrowing a sari. At The Stables Lilian quizzes Jakob about the Grange Farm land sale, but he can't tell her anything. He then asks Lilian if she thinks he's a kill-joy. Of course not, she replies quickly, before things become awkward and Jakob beats a retreat. Harry Chilcott then introduces himself to Lilian, demanding to see someone about Sadie, the horse he bought for his niece. He considers the horse's recent injury to be the result of poor decision-making by The Stables. Learning the manager isn't around, he says he'll return tomorrow. Helen looks for a card in the shop that Jack can give Rob. She tells Joy she doesn't want Jack giving Rob his handmade one in case Rob says something hurtful. When Helen's phone rings, it's Miles. He tells her Rob's deteriorating quickly but has refused a hospice, so now has nurses visiting his flat and Helen needs to bring forward Jack's visit to tomorrow. Helen's not sure Jack should see Rob in his condition, but Miles presses her to say yes. Supportive Joy then agrees to go with Helen when she takes Jack to see Rob. Helen is fearful of how Jack will respond to seeing Rob, but Joy thinks if he's anything like Helen, he'll brave it out.

Dr. John Vervaeke and Gregg Henriques once again welcome Brendan Graham Dempsey to engage in profound explorations of transcendent naturalism, wisdom traditions, and the crucial significance of adaptive insight within our current existential landscape. Through discussions on religious reconstruction, animism, hyper-agents, and the role of wisdom in technology, the episode explores the connections between the sacred and the modern world. Dr. Vervaeke emphasizes collective intelligence and agency, while Brendan Graham Dempsey passionately speaks on the unfolding process of the sacred. Gregg Henriques proposes concepts like "wise NAGI" and reflects on collective awakening. Together, they inspire listeners to rethink the integration of religion, science, and reality, emphasizing the need for understanding and harmony. [00:06:38] Dempsey discusses the Religious Reconstruction Project and the learning process, confronting the limits of world models. [00:11:40] Gregg Henriques reflects on the idea of finding meaning at the edge of what we know. [00:13:55] Dr. Vervaeke introduces the concept of the sacred as an always-beyond intelligibility, challenging traditional views. [00:21:03] Delving into schemas, animism, and the risk of misunderstanding reality. [00:28:03] Brendan Graham Dempsey introduces the concept of a new God, an iconic representation of the infinitely receding and illuminating element of reality, suggesting this could help us better understand our world. [00:32:00] Gregg Henriques introduces the concept of the "fifth joint point" and the need for collective awakening and understanding of the underlying structure. [00:35:00] Vervaeke mentions his upcoming book, suggesting that the proposals that prepare us for the future should have authority, and mentions the internet as a potential common ground for dealing with the advent of AGI. [00:38:37] Speaking on the transformative power of encountering the "really real" and how it's woven into everything else suggests that this profound understanding of reality has a sense of authority. [00:45:20] Dr. Vervaeke and Dempsey discuss logos and multi-layered symbolic articulation underscoring the importance of language in expressing this multi-layered form. [00:49:18] Emphasizing intermediary models in learning complex concepts. He emphasizes the need for these truths to work at an embodied, lived reality. [00:59:15] Stressing the need for alignment between religious conceptions and reality. [01:02:02] Gregg Henriques shares his perspective on the enlightenment gap and the inadequacy of science in grounding our fundamental relevance realization across all modes of being. The Faith Explained with Cale Clarke - Learning the Catholic Faith
Cale looks at 1 Corinthians 3:1 – 3:17. What does it really mean to have the mind of Christ? Did you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit? What is your foundation?
George describes to Brad how bad it felt being sacked by his granddad. Brad understands; he can hear the fallout at Ambridge View. He reckons George should just apologise for his misdemeanour; it would go down better than continuing to deny it. George retorts that it should be Neil and Hannah grovelling to him, not the other way round. And if there's no proof, they can't say what happened. Brad declares he understands his mum now when she says George is his own worst enemy. They revisit the events of the night of the Grey Gables break in, agreeing in their own ways that it was unwise. They apologise to each other for it. Pip and Stella are feeling the effects of last night's wine. They joke about their delicate state, until Helen arrives with the news that the Brookfield sheep have got out. As they gingerly gather the sheep, Stella discovers the escape route was an open gate near Spiritual Home. A car horn scares the sheep, holding up the herding mission further. Finally the sheep are in, and Pip and Stella are in agreement that Kate's getting a telling off. Helen admits to enjoying herself with this diversion, before she takes a call from a hospital consultant requesting Helen accompany Rob to a clinic appointment tomorrow. She feels it would be helpful for Rob to have someone with him to keep him calm, and Helen is still listed as an emergency contact. Helen protests she's divorced and no longer involved with Rob. She really can't help.
Helen worries that Rob might renege on the Community Resolution Order because of his seizure. Kirsty asks how Helen's getting on with her parents, advising her to make the first move. When Helen mentions she still hasn't heard from the solicitor and wonders about contacting Rob again, Kirsty's adamant that she shouldn't. Helen describes what it was like seeing Rob. Although she'd been scared, once she saw him she knew she could say what she needed to. But when Rob having a seizure and the paramedics were there, it triggered her. At the hospital she was annoyed that Rob could see how freaked out she was. Kirsty says that's why Helen can't contact Rob again. Helen agrees. On a walk with Stella and Weaver, Ruth can't believe Stella apologised to Brian. Stella explains that nothing would have been gained by taking it to a tribunal; it wouldn't have got her job back. Stella then spots smoke coming from Spiritual Home. At Kate's solstice event at Spiritual Home, Adam's encouraged to release his worries by throwing them into the fire. Adam doesn't want to feel sad about Jennifer anymore, replacing this with happy memories of her. It's what Kate wants too. When Stella appears demanding they put the fire out, Kate and Stella exchange cross words, while Ruth tries to calm things down. Stella's anger turns to Adam for allowing Kate to have a fire and then shirking responsibility for it. Stella's job is do what's best for Home Farm; from now on that's exactly what she's going to do.

@faturechi had an idea to get Dr. Voortman, who was a psychiatrist for many years on stage with @aqualityexistence4842 Dr. King and Ken Loury with John Van Donk to talk about mental health work and the whole person. This was an impromptu meeting so there wasn't time to arrange someone to record it. Someone did record it on their cell phone hence the quality of the recording isn't great but the quality of the conversation was, so i added it to the list. Professor Jacob Howland is Director of University of Austin, Texas' Intellectual Foundations program. Previously, Howland served as McFarlin Professor of Philosophy at the University of Tulsa and Senior Fellow at the Tikvah Fund. He is the author of five books and one edited book, including two on Plato's Republic as well as studies of Kierkegaard and the Talmud. Kate admits to Noluthando she's still not feeling fully committed to Spiritual Home. Noluthando reports she might have found a new flat share in Durban. Freddie wants to try out his revamped tour of Lower Loxley on Noluthando. He's recruited Oliver and Neil as volunteer guides. The two set off. Helen announces to Clarrie and Susan the installation of the observation window. Both are unsure, and raise potential pitfalls. Helen's surprised by their negativity and she plays to Susan's previous experience as a radio presenter. This sets Susan on a roll. She suggests an intercom system so that they can interact with those looking through the new window. Helen thinks it's a great idea while Clarrie isn't won over. Kate's surprised to see Brian turn up at Spiritual Home. After some stalling he reveals that he'd like to have a treatment to relieve his general physical discomfort. Kate can vouch for the benefits of massage while grieving, and books him in. After his treatment, Brian's feeling a lot better and will be back for more. Brian declares Spiritual Home Kate's calling. Kate decides that instead of coasting with the business for the next five years, she's going to really make it flourish. Noluthando congratulates Freddie on an engaging tour, but he can see she's distracted on her phone. She confesses she's trying to do some research on one of the paintings they passed on the landing. Freddie wonders if he got some information wrong, but Noluthando says it's more about what he might have left out.
Lily complains to Ben about living with Freddie and Ben suggests he could move to The Stables as he's staying at Brookfield for the time being. Freddie would be out of her hair. However, Lily tracks down Josh to say she'd like to move in to The Stables herself. Over beers, Josh is cautious about agreeing to Lily moving in, but Lily convinces him. Josh also wants to rent out the third bedroom and feels like he should give Freddie first refusal on it. Lily points out she and Freddie would just argue all the time and promises to find an alternative before Freddie even gets wind of it. Ben collects the last of his things from The Stables and then mentions he's been looking online at the resistance to the planned EV charging station. Josh warns him about going down that rabbit hole. Josh offers to keep an eye on it to save Ben the stress. Alice and Adam are relieved to hear Kate is going to stick with Spiritual Home at least for the next few years. Before they start looking through Jennifer's things, Adam shows them the box Ian discovered yesterday. It's full of mementos from their childhoods. The three siblings squabble over the items (apart from the set of milk teeth). Then, at the bottom of the box they find a list written by Jennifer itemising what belongs to whom. Jennifer always had the knack for resolving arguments. The only remaining problem is who will get to keep their mum's list?
Jennifer's family and friends prepare for the funeral St Stephen's. Kate is grateful that Tony and Lilian have taken on the tribute. Lilian is wearing the perfume Jennifer always wore to try to keep her close. Meanwhile Brian wants to wear the tie Jennifer got him for Christmas, but worries that it's too bright. He stalls when Alice tells him the car has arrived to take them to church with Phoebe, Noluthando and Sipho. He misses Jennifer so much. Lilian comforts Alice when she arrives at the church while Alan tracks down Brian in the churchyard. Brian continues to ponder his tie and Alan reassures him that whatever he selects, it's the right choice. Alan leads the service and Tony and Lilian remember their sister's many talents and their shared upbringing at The Bull. Afterwards in The Bull, Brian gently asks Kate about her plans to give up Spiritual Home. She's surprised he knows. Brian compliments Kate on her talent in caring for others and how she's turned that into a successful business. Kate is touched by Brian's words. Alice and Brian walk back to Willow Cottage. Alice is prepared to keep her dad company and even stay the night, but Brian insists he needs to get used to being on his own. Alice departs and Brian goes inside. He speaks to Jennifer, realising that he doesn't have to say goodbye because she is with him in his heart, and always will be.
