In this powerful episode, Amb. Elisha continues a vital teaching series focused on the life of a true citizen of heaven. He reminds listeners that merely hearing God's Word without applying it is self-deception, according to James 1:22. Elisha breaks down three essential steps every believer must take when engaging with God's Word: acquiring information, understanding it, and most importantly—applying it. With relatable examples and a heartfelt story about a school discovering hidden gold, Elisha paints a vivid picture of the value of divine revelation and childlike faith. You'll walk away challenged to not only learn but live out God's truth in your everyday life. Key Takeaways: • God expects action, not just attention. • Listening without application equals deception. • Faith, like the children's in the story, is powerful when pure. • Your response to God's Word determines your transformation. Scripture Reference: James 1:22 Theme: Christian growth, spiritual responsibility, living God's Word Listen now to be equipped, encouraged, and reminded of what it truly means to be a citizen of Heaven. ... 17Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us.18For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ.19Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.20But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,21who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

In his letter to the Philippians, Paul makes a profound statement: Our citizenship is in heaven. In a world where earthly status and identity hold great significance, Paul redirects our focus to our true and eternal identity in Christ. Roman citizenship was highly valued, offering protection, privilege, and status. Yet, Paul, who possessed both Roman and Jewish prestige, considered it all worthless compared to knowing Christ. His life, marked by suffering and sacrifice, reflected his unwavering commitment to his heavenly citizenship. This truth challenges us today. Earthly comforts and identities often compete for our loyalty, yet Christ calls us to a greater reality. Through baptism, we are made citizens of heaven, given a new identity, and assured of our resurrection. As we navigate this world, we are called to live differently—fixing our eyes on Jesus, standing firm in faith, and trusting that He will complete the good work He has begun in us.

After describing how he was running life's race, Paul next tells us not only to follow his example, but that we must do so because "our citizenship is in heaven." Heavenly citizens have duties to the heavenly King. In verses 17-21, Paul highlights three duties of a heavenly citizen.

Citizens not only have rights and privileges, but they also have responsibilities. The same is true for us as citizens of Heaven. Let's not only experience the blessings of our new citizenship but let's conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel.Main Points:1. You may not have thought about this, Heaven is not just a place you are waiting to see, but it's a place of which you are already a citizen. You have a legal right to belong in Heaven because the blood of Jesus has paid for your entry. 2. As citizens of Heaven, the Word of God calls for us to live as citizens of Heaven. We are not yet in Heaven, but we are to live with the values of our new home.3. Paul says we can live as citizens of Heaven by conducting ourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel. In other words, if you are saved, live as someone who is saved. If Christ has come into your life, it should be noticeable in how you live. We are not worthy of what Christ has done for us, but we should do our best to live as though we were.Today's Scripture Verses:Ephesians 2:19 - “You Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God's holy people. You are members of God's family.”Philippians 1:27 - “Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

This week, Pastor Jon dives deep into Jesus' transformative message in the Sermon on the Mount. In Matthew 5:1-3; 17-20, Jesus sets the stage for a radical shift in how we live as citizens of the Kingdom of God. Through the powerful image of Jesus as the true and better Moses, we discover how His teachings challenge the very foundation of worldly values. "Blessed are the poor in spirit," Jesus says—an invitation to humility, transformation, and a life marked by God's kingdom, not by earthly measures of success. This sermon isn't just good advice—it's a call to a new way of living. Are you ready to embrace the radical transformation that Jesus offers?
