World of Color has been delighting Guests at Disney California Adventure Park since June 11, 2010. With over 1,200 dancing foutains and incredible special effects, it's one of the most impressive nighttime shows ever designed. World of Color Celebrate was a special overlay during Disneyland's 60th Anniversary (2015) that paid tribute to Walt Disney himself. In today's episode, we discuss World of Color and World of Color Celebrate in greater detail. Which nighttime show is your favorite at Walt Disney World or Disneyland? When I visited Disney California Adventure back in 2011, I was blown away by the night time spectacular World of Color (Check out Episode #8 for details). It’s the natural evolution of Disney’s night time entertainment, combining just about every trick in Disney’s book. As I noted back in Episode #8, the technology allows elements of the show to be updated and changed. Things like Pirates of the Caribbean, Tron and holiday elements can be added as needed. What I didn’t consider was the possibility of the entire show being replaced for a yearlong celebration – That’s exactly what World of Color – Celebrate is. Celebrate is a tribute to Walt Disney and the 60th Anniversary of Disneyland, a completely new show from beginning to end. A cohesive story and history lesson chronicling the creation of Mickey Mouse, movie development from Snow White to Frozen and of course, Disneyland – complete with tributes to classic attractions. Add a guest host – Neil Patrick Harris and Mickey Mouse and you have a 60th Anniversary celebration that Walt couldn’t have imagined… incredible and the subject of SamsDisneyDiary #60, Here’s hoping Animal Kingdoms River of Light incorporates some of this incredible technology! Be sure to watch the video in the bonus section or at www.samsdisneydiary.com

Are diamonds anyone's best friend? Disneyland launches its spectacular Diamond anniversary with a 24-hour party at the parks which was by turns fun, chaotic, thilling and frustrating to the tens of thousands of guests who descended on the Anaheim resort on May 22. Team Mousetalgia welcomes Beci Mahnken, owner of Mouse Fan Travel, to the show to report on her experiences at the media preview, the 24 hour party, and the grand opening of Disneyland's new 60th anniversary nighttime spectaculars, including World of Color - Celebrate!, the Paint the Night parade, and Disneyland Forever, the new fireworks show that combines projections, fireworks, and special effects throughout the park to create a show that can be viewed from multiple locations (...or can it?) We also debate Disneyland's wisdom in creating predictable mass confusion with an event guaranteed to draw more people to the resort than the parks could contain. Is the result clever marketing, a tarnished reputation - or both? Also, we revisit Tomorrowland and wonder what the financial misfire of Brad Bird's latest film means for the future of Plus Ultra and the Optimists. Will the film find its audience - if there's an audience to be found? Plus - practical tips for visiting the park this summer, Harold's back (and he's ticked!) - and more!

Inside The Mouse Castle: Disney News, Information and Commentary
Tim and Anthony survived last weekend's 24-hour party at the Disneyland Resort and share all the details on today's episode of "Inside The Mouse Castle." Huge crowds were on hand for the premieres of "Disneyland Forever" fireworks, the "Paint the Night" parade and the "World of Color - Celebrate!" show, while equally large crowds waited outside the gates to get in. It was exciting for most and frustrating for some as Disneyland kicked off its 60th anniversary Diamond Anniversary. Also: Disney opens its biggest Disney Store ever in Shanghai, "Tomorrowland" underperforms at the box office and Reese Witherspoon may be the next Tinker Bell--but we may never find out whether or not Asa Butterfield will play Spider-Man. www.TheMouseCastle.com
