News: More and more keeps being announced for the 70th Anniversary of Disneyland. A new light, sound, and projection moment will be coming to Carthay Circle and Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure. The moment will be set to the tune “Celebrate Happy,” the theme song for the anniversary. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/guide-to-the-70th-anniversary-at-disneyland-resort/ We have some new details about the Walt Disney animatronic experience coming to the Opera House in July. Various media outlets were invited to the Imagineering campus to see the life-sized concept sculpt, and to learn more about the show. Walt's voice in the show will be his own, with clips of his actual voice were painstakingly assembled from interviews. The animatronic itself is very lifelike. The posture, facial structure, and skin texture are “uncanny” according to MiceChat. – https://www.micechat.com/414430-disneyland-walt-disney-a-magical-life-revealed/ Another character from the Marvel Universe will be dropping by Avengers Campus for a limited time. Red Guardian, who first appeared in Black Widow, and is featured in the new movie Thunderbolts, will be meeting and greeting with guests. You can be sure to find him by checking the Disneyland App. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/meet-the-super-amazing-red-guardian-at-avengers-campus/ If you are going to be in Avengers Campus heading into Cars Land, or the other way around in the near future, be aware that the path between the two by Luigi's is closed. This has been done for construction of a new restroom facility to compliment the new additions to Avengers Campus currently under construction. – https://www.micechat.com/414422-disneyland-news-70th-anniversary-improvements-red-guardian-appearance-store-changes/ May the 4th was this weekend and the Disney Parks Blog shared a recipe from A Galaxy Far, Far Away. The Felucian Falafel and Hummus Garden Spread from Docking Bay 7 may take some planning – with one step taking from 12-18 hours – but is sure to be a tasty treat! – https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/disney-eats-exclusive-plant-based-star-wars-day-recipe/ Later this month, a fun team will be visiting the parks. The Savannah Bananas, a baseball team similar to the Harlem Globetrotters, will be at Disneyland on May 28, 2025. Special entertainment moments, and themed food and beverages will be on hand to celebrate. – https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/savannah-bananas-disneyland-may-28/ On Monday, May 5, there was a Heroes Salute Cavalcade to honor the first responders of the fires back in January. The Heroes ticket also kicked off to coincide with the cavalcade. – https://www.micechat.com/414422-disneyland-news-70th-anniversary-improvements-red-guardian-appearance-store-changes/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHGVwxv9H1E A rather abrupt change has come to New Orleans Square. The Port Royal Curios and Curiosities shop, right next to the Royal Street Veranda, has been changed into a seating area for diners. Since the shop duplicated the merchandise which can be found at Madame Leota's “Somewhere Beyond” shop, the old location was not needed. The decor was not updated much, except to turn it into a jazzy looking speakeasy. Tables and chairs are scattered about for guests to get out of the heat and find a place to eat. – https://www.micechat.com/414422-disneyland-news-70th-anniversary-improvements-red-guardian-appearance-store-changes/ At the Emporium on Main Street, there are a set of windows that are decorated with animated scenes from Disney classics. Some of them have been in rough shape in recent times, but they are currently being refurbished for the 70th. No word on when they will be completed, but work is underway. – https://www.micechat.com/414422-disneyland-news-70th-anniversary-improvements-red-guardian-appearance-store-changes/ SnackChat: 70th Foodie Guide – Disney Eats: Disneyland 70th Celebration Foodie Guide – Disney Parks Blog Discussion Topic: Freelance artist Jerrod Maruyama https://www.instagram.com/jmaruyama/

News: Madame Leota has returned from somewhere beyond and opened her own shop! Madam Leota's Somewhere Beyond is located at the exit to The Haunted Mansion and is themed to the carriage house of the mansion. Inside, countless artifacts from Madame Leota's collection are on display. A new bride may appear in the attic of the mansion. A sneak preview of this new bride may be seen in the Madame Leota shop as a portrait. The new bride is rumored to have a cutting-edge blend of classic and modern effects. The goal is to elevate the character to the same level as the Hatbox Ghost, who appeared in 2016. – https://www.micechat.com/407093-disneyland-update-haunted-mansion-secrets-holiday-hustle-whats-next/ The queue for Pirates of the Caribbean frequently sprawls throughout New Orleans Square. MiceChat reports that Imagineers are working on a solution to this issue. The solution could replace some classic areas like the Port Royal shop, Royal Street Veranda quick service window, and the small courtyard between the shops. As sad as it may be to lose these locations, an extended, more themed, indoor queue might be a good thing for New Orleans Square. – https://www.micechat.com/406689-disneyland-update-from-christmakkah-to-construction-swashbuckling-surprises/ With the start of a new year comes new merchandise for that year. For 2025, there is the Disney Play in the Park collection – Disneyland Version, which features fun activities for guests to enjoy while at Disneyland. A wide selection of items are in this collection. Disneyland 2025 Dated merchandise is also out. This year, the design is more colorful, with the 2025 being more of a solid color, in most of the apparel designs. This also means that select 2024 merchandise is 50% off now. – https://www.micechat.com/406875-disneyland-merchandise-update-new-year-new-gear-for-2025/ One of the last parts of the Downtown Disney expansion is making great progress! The walls have come down around Parkside Market, which means that the location could open any day now! The building will house Sip & Sonder, GGs Chicken Shop, Seoul Sister, and Vista Parkside Market when it opens. – https://www.micechat.com/407093-disneyland-update-haunted-mansion-secrets-holiday-hustle-whats-next/ https://www.parksidemarketla.com/ Something is finally happening at the old ESPN Zone building in Downtown Disney! Construction walls have gone up around the building and permits show that the space will split into three spaces, two downstairs, and one upstairs. – https://www.micechat.com/407093-disneyland-update-haunted-mansion-secrets-holiday-hustle-whats-next/ A construction project long in the works between Cars Land and Avengers Campus has finally wrapped up. A new guest seating area has been added across from Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters. The area was previously themed with desert plants. This area will be great to enjoy Cozy Cone delights. – https://www.micechat.com/407093-disneyland-update-haunted-mansion-secrets-holiday-hustle-whats-next/ Something has returned to the Indiana Jones Adventure queue! The safety video with Sallah has returned to a more extended version with more theming than just the “use the seatbelts” section. This is a welcome return as the video was able to loop multiple times for each guest recently. – https://www.micechat.com/407093-disneyland-update-haunted-mansion-secrets-holiday-hustle-whats-next/ ans of the Australian hit animated show Bluey have something big to celebrate! A Bluey movie is coming to theaters, which means that Bluey and her family will be at the resort. No firm timeline yet, but it is coming. A preview of what this could look like was at the D23 Ultimate Fan Event where Bluey and Bingo had a meet and greet. – https://www.micechat.com/406689-disneyland-update-from-christmakkah-to-construction-swashbuckling-surprises/ SnackChat: Pym Test Kitchen – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disney-california-adventure/pym-test-kitchen/menus/ Discussion Topic: DLW 369: Artist, Filmmaker, and Author David Bossert

The animatronics, audio, and overall asthetic looks amazing. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/videos/full-tour-adventureland-treehouse-at-night-disneyland-resort/ https://www.micechat.com/338868-breaking-news-disneylands-new-adventureland-treehouse-revealed/ The new bar at the Villas at the Disneyland Resort has opened to guests. The Palm Breeze Bar is colorful and fun, reminiscent of Mary Blair's designs. The food has been reported as very good, however it is on the pricier side. This could explain why a new location like this isn't as busy as other similar locations that have drawn much bigger crowds. – https://www.micechat.com/372173-disneyland-update-treehouse-triumph-jungle-turbulence-toontown-turmoil/ With the Holiday season starting this week, the Christmas tree on Main Street has been installed. The tree towers 60 feet tall and is covered with more than 1,800 ornaments. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/11/photos-christmas-tree-arrives-on-main-street-u-s-a-at-disneyland-park-for-2023-holiday-season/ With the Holidays starting this week, there is a Holiday Foodie Guide that the Disney Parks Blog released. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/11/disney-eats-foodie-guide-to-holidays-at-disneyland-resort-2023/ In addition the the regular holiday food, there is also the Festival of the Holidays Foodie Guide! {talk about the food} Maybe mention the new food segment coming in the new year? – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/11/disney-eats-foodie-guide-to-disney-festival-of-holidays-2023-at-disneyland-resort/ Of course there is a TON of new holiday merch that has arrived ahead of the official holiday season this week. From ears, to spirit jerseys and everything in-between, there is truly something for everyone. – https://www.micechat.com/369082-disneyland-holiday-merchandise-2023/ A new character from the upcoming Disney movie Wish is going to be meeting and greeting at the resort soon. On November 22nd, the day of the movie premiere, she will be in front of the Royal Hall in Fantasyland. It isn't clear if she will be around beyond the one day, but we will update you once we know. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/11/asha-from-wish-arriving-at-disneyland-resort-on-november-22/ There is trouble on the waterways of the Jungle Cruise. The attraction closed abruptly last week and was closed through the weekend. Scrims have gone up around the tiger area that can be seen from the exterior portion of the Indy queue. Micechat reports that the rockwork by the tiger was crumbling and in need of repair. The attraction will hopefully reopen with this section behind scrims. – https://www.micechat.com/372173-disneyland-update-treehouse-triumph-jungle-turbulence-toontown-turmoil/ As we reported on previously, part of Toontown have come out from behind construction walls. The fountain is the only section that was previously closed to guests that is still unavailable, and the walls moved around Goofy's How to Play Yard, and Donald's Duck Pond. November 11th should be the last day for all walls in Toontown, unless the schedule slips. – https://www.micechat.com/372173-disneyland-update-treehouse-triumph-jungle-turbulence-toontown-turmoil/ January 7th will mark the end of Tail of the Lion King in the Fantasyland Theatre. The show ran for a little under two years, and wasn't as flashy as other shows that used this venue, but it was still a very well done, lively show. – https://www.micechat.com/372173-disneyland-update-treehouse-triumph-jungle-turbulence-toontown-turmoil/ Discussion Topic: Adventure by Disney Trip with Josey https://www.adventuresbydisney.com/destinations/around-the-world/global-jet-adventures/ This podcast is powered by Pinecast.

News: Over at MiceChat, Dusty Sage was able to have a conversation with higher-up associated with Tiana's Bayou Adventure where he expressed his dismay at the focus on the search for a missing ingredient. If Dusty is right, there is a lot more going on with this attraction. Per his conversation, it is a sort of fake out for guests concealing the fact that they are doing a lot more with this attraction than has been announced. Massive set pieces are being installed to make this much more grand than the attraction that it is replacing. They are also spending a considerable amount on this project that they could have built an entirely new attraction. – https://www.micechat.com/371000-disneyland-update-snowfall-pumpkins-missed-opportunities/ It is possible that by the time you listen to this, the Adventureland Treehouse could be open! All of the scaffolding has been removed and the construction tape is gone. The walls around the attraction seem to be the only thing holding back excited guests. – https://www.micechat.com/371000-disneyland-update-snowfall-pumpkins-missed-opportunities/ https://www.micechat.com/371000-disneyland-update-snowfall-pumpkins-missed-opportunities/ The Paradise Pier Hotel will become the Pixar Place Hotel officially on January 30th, 2024. The CenTOONial Park is scheduled to reopen on October 30th, and then Goofy's How-to-Play Yard will close on the same day. Changes to this area are scheduled to wrap up and reopen to the public on November 10th. Hopefully, this will just leave Donald's Duck Pond having never been operating for guests. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/10/17/one-disney-attraction-will-reopen-soon-but-another-will-close-the-same-day/ A fun new activity is coming to the Disneyland Resort this Halloween Season. The Disney Parks Blog posted a Halloween Time Scavenger Hunt Around the Disneyland Resort. The scavenger hunt provides clues to find things in Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/10/try-our-new-disneyland-resort-halloween-scavenger-hunt-for-families/ Halloween is still about a week away, but Christmas is already moving in around the resort. Snow has started to fall on Sleeping Beauty Castle, resulting in the Disney100 decorations disappearing before the actual anniversary, lights are going up in the trees on Main Street, and New Orleans Square is starting to have its decorations installed. – https://www.micechat.com/371000-disneyland-update-snowfall-pumpkins-missed-opportunities/ Have you ever wanted to have breakfast with Santa? Mickey's Toontown has been pushed back from March 8th to March 19th due to weather delaying the work. - https://www.micechat.com/307775-disneylands-toontown-closing-in-2022-for-enhancements/ Last week, Disney held their quarterly earnings call where Bob Iger commented about adding more capacity to the theme parks. He mentioned that with the success of Avatar at the box office and at Disney's Animal Kingdom in Florida, that an Avatar Experience would be coming to Disneyland in the future. What was left question was in what form this would take place! - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ Also on the earnings call, Iger addressed the higher pricing and capacity mix. He stated that they are listening to guests who feel that they are being priced out of the parks by lowering prices on some of the experiences. He also mentioned that he didn't feel that the annual increase in ticket pricing was too much above the rate of inflation at Disneyland. In regards to the capacity mix, they have been aiming for more of the mix to be once in a lifetime guests who spend more in a single visit that passholders. - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ - https://www.ocregister.com/2023/02/09/disneyland-ticket-prices-have-not-really-increased-that-much-in-recent-years-disney-ceo-says/ There has been a rash of mis-spellings of signs and statues all over the resort since the Disney100 started to roll in. Incorrect years on attractions and movie premiere dates, coming soon signage on Indy, and the Mickey statue in town square with "It all started with a mouse" instead of "It was all started by a mouse." Disney has been quick to fix these snafus around the parks. There was a new one for the Super Bowl cavalcade that came and went without a fix, mentioning "Main Stret" instead of "Main Street." - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ Even more things are coming to the resort for Celebrate Soulfully at Disney California Adventure. Moon Girl from the new Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur on Disney+ will be coming for some meet and greets. Guests who are there when she premieres will get to see a cavalcade and stage show for that day only. - https://twitter.com/Disneyland/status/1623734510465478664 - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/02/moon-girl-magic-comes-to-disney-california-adventure-park/ Fans of Catal and Uva bar should get their last visits in soon! The location will be closing mid-April to transform into Centrico and Paseo, a new up-scale Mexican restaurant. - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ Can you believe that Disney California Adventure turned 22 this past week? To celebrate, the Disneyland App has a limited-time PhotoPass+ lens through February 21. The lens transforms guests into a Newsboy from the show that has still has yet to return to the park. - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ Part of Steakhouse 55 could be reopening soon! The curtains that we reported on being in place a couple of weeks ago have come down and the lounge part looks ready to welcome guests. MiceChat reports that staff is already training for the location. No word on a reopening date. The restaurant section of Steakhouse 55 has seen no updates. - https://www.micechat.com/347545-disneyland-update-big-profits-bigger-cuts-blue-people/ Finally on the call, Bob Iger noted that of the 7,000 job cuts that are taking place around the company, none of them are expected to impact park operations. This is good news since the parks are already not back to fully staffed since reopening after the COVID closure. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/02/disneys-workforce-cuts-to-impact-all-sections-of-company-will-not-impact-hourly-park-operations-cast/ There had been some confusion with the ending to World of Color - ONE. Guests were unsure when the ending of the show was and would start to leave at the long pause just before the main finale. It appears that Disney has updated the show to tighten up the ending, making it more clear when the show was actually over. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/02/video-world-of-color-one-finale-changed-due-to-guest-confusion-at-disney-california-adventure/ Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway has been a great addition to Disneyland and with it came some new looks for Cast Members. Now, the rest of Toontown has some colorful costumes to match! The news happened Sunday evening, while the stock market was closed. Bob Iger sent an email out to all the employees of the company with more information to come. Once the market opened on Monday, the stock has risen 9%. Bob Chapek has left the company and Bob Iger is expected to stay for just 2 years while he works to set someone else up to take over the company. – https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/the-walt-disney-company-board-of-directors-appoints-robert-a-iger-as-chief-executive-officer/ and https://variety.com/2022/biz/news/bob-iger-restructuring-disney-kareem-daniel-exit-1235439263/ We have a date for the opening of Mickey's ToonTown! The full land will open on March 8th — a little over a month after Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway is scheduled to open on January 27th. As a recap, we can expect to see an update to Goofy's House with an interactive playground for kids; a new spot for Donald's Boat playground equipment and video portholes; A re-themed Gadget's Go-Coaster focusing on Chip and Dale; And the return of Mickey and Minne's Houses, Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin in addition to dining options at Café Daisy and Good Boy! Grocers. – https://twitter.com/DisneyParks/status/1593620677612998656 We heard this announcement this past Friday, as the park celebrated Mickey & Minnie's 94th Birthday with special buttons handed out at the main entrances and a birthday cavalcade downtown Main Street. The parade featured the Dapper Dans led sing alongs from the Omnibus, the Disneyland Band playing “Happy Birthday” with a bunch of characters, the Mickey and Minnie as the guests of honor before the cavalcade ends with a giant birthday cake for the pair. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ Indy is back open after its 3-day refurb, but it's not what we were hoping. MiceChat says many of its major effects are still not working and is in desperate need of a rumored major overhaul. Meanwhile, in DCA Monsters Inc.: Mike and Sulley to the Rescue! opened up over the weekend with updated black light effects, fixed projection effects and some new safety features. The outside also got a fresh coat of paint. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ Magic Keys were back on sale at Disneyland for a brief time this week. All keys except the Enchant level were open for new sales. Not long after, the Believe key was sold out and the others followed later. Magic Key sales are closed for now. Disney utilized the online queue for new sales like they have done in the past. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/17/disney-has-paused-select-magic-key-pass-sales/ Disneyland is adapting Disney World's latest cancelation policy for dining reservations. That means reservations must be canceled at least 2 hours prior to avoid a $10 per person cancelation fee. DisneyFoodBlog reports Disney saying this does not apply to Downtown Disney District restaurants, the World of Color Dessert Party, the Princess Breakfast Adventure at Napa Rose, and Tomorrowland Skyline Terrace. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/17/update-made-to-dining-reservation-cancelation-policy-for-disneyland/ We are not even past Thanksgiving in the United States, but Disney is already thinking of the Lunar New Year and the California Food and Wine Festival. In 2023, Lunar New Year is starting on January 20th and running through February 15th. For 2023, it is the Year of the Rabit for the Chinese New Year, which symbolizes luck, but the Vietnamese New Year is the Year of the Cat. Two new Lunar New Year marketplaces arrive this year; Bamboo Blessings and Wrapped with Love. The Food and Wine Festival will run from March 3rd through April 25th. With the Food and Wine festival, Soarin' Over California will return once again. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/11/lunar-new-year-celebration-and-disney-california-adventure-food-&-wine-festival-return-in-2023-to-disney-california-adventure-park/ A week after the rest of the resort, the holidays arrived at Downtown Disney and the resort hotels. Trees, nutcrackers, snowmen and more line the streets of the shopping district. Inside the hotels you'll find the annual staples — the Gingerbread house and giant tree in the Grand Californian Lobby, Mid-Century Modern decor adorns the Disneyland Hotel. Though MiceChat is reporting a rumor that this style of holiday decorations will go away next year. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ On November 18th, the Mandalorian and Grogu landed in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland. You can get a taste of holiday-inspired dishes back in Galaxy's Edge. At Docking Bay 7, you can find Trandoshan-style Past with Braised Bantha — which is a braid beef over Cavatelli pasta with veggies, a zesty avocado sauce, and balsamic glaze. We've heard it's a bit spicy. Or there is a Yobshrmip Mix stew with Swamp Grains — another spicy dish featuring shrimp, sausage, veggies, and rice with a tomato curry sauce. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/11/20/we-have-one-word-to-describe-these-2-new-disney-snacks-spicy/ Guests who shop early and want to grab their merch on the way out of the park instead of carrying it will now find it at the Disneyland Merchant's Guild, located in the former Guided Tour building next to Disneyland's City Hall. – https://www.micechat.com/340104-disneyland-news-return-of-the-king-cursed-keys/ Discussion: Marceline, MO – https://www.downtownmarceline.org/tour/

Each level of Magic Key will see a price increase from as little as $50, to as much as $200 for the high end key. The Dream Key, which was the top end key when the program started and had no blockout dates has been retired and replaced with a Inspire key, priced at $1599. New perks added to the high level keys include parking discounts, free PhotoPass, and Genie+ discounts. – https://www.micechat.com/330375-disneyland-magic-keys-everything-you-need-to-know/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/blockout-dates/ Last week, Disney had their quarterly earnings call and reported some great news for the theme park division. Disney Parks, Experiences and Products reported quarterly revenue of $7.4 billion, up from $4.3 billion a year earlier. Last year, Disney Cruise Line was still shut down and the parks were still recovering, but this is still great news. However, there was one comment that made Disneyland fans upset. They stated that Genie+ and Lightning Lane increased the per capita ticket revenue, “partially offset by an unfavorable attendance mix at Disneyland Resort.” This led to Magic Key holders getting upset online about being unfavorables. – https://www.micechat.com/329833-disneyland-update-the-unfavorables-halloween-screams-toontown-secrets/ MagicBand+ hasn't come to Disneyland just yet, but there is already a new interactive game under construction that uses the technology. Batuu Bounty Hunters has already launched in Walt Disney World's version of Batuu, and will launch at Disneyland when the MagicBand+ system launches by the end of the year. The game will require the Play Disney Parks app and a MagicBand+. The MagicBand+ will change colors depending on if you are heading in the right direction and change to purple when the bounty is found. WDWNewToday had a great writeup about the game, which we have linked in the show notes. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/08/star-wars-batuu-bounty-hunters-game-station-is-under-construction-in-disneyland/ and https://wdwnt.com/2022/07/batuu-bounty-hunters-galaxys-edge-magicband/ Weeklyteers who want to know what is going on with ToonTown, we have an update for you. MiceChat has posted some new aerial photos of the work going on back there. Goofy's house has been repainted, the area where the new CarTOONial park will be has been cleared, along with all of the paving in the land. Mickey and Minnie's houses are surrounded by scaffholding and are being repainted, as is the ToonTown mountainside above the neighborhood. – https://www.micechat.com/329376-disneyland-update-part-2-flying-high-over-toontown-construction-sweet-treats/ There was a traffic accident this past week, but it wasn't on any of the loal Anaheim roads, but on the Autopia! Images posted on Instagram show two Autopia vehicles had somehow been driven on top of one of the concrete barriers. This would have been extremely difficult to do by accident as the cars are limited to 5mph. The two vehicles appeared to have been pushed up onto the concrete by colliding into one another. Cast members were unsure how this happened when they came across the scene. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/08/autopia-accident-leaves-ride-vehicles-derailed-and-damaged-at-disneyland/ Some new menu items are coming to a popular eatery in Galaxy's Edge. Docking Bay 7 will have the new menu items starting the day this episode goes live. The items include a new Cold Brew with Taro Topper, which is a nitro cold brew topped with sweet Taro cream. The other item is the Gungan Broth Noodles, which has Roasted Pork, Angel Hair Pasta, Bok Choy, Mushrooms, Yuzu-Tomato Compote, and a Pesto-Tonkatsu Broth. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/08/15/new-menu-additions-coming-soon-to-docking-bay-7-in-disneyland/ We reported a couple weeks ago about a couple of new hand pies at the resort. Now, it seems that they are all over the place and with almost as many varieties as churros, if that is even possible! Guests can get a strawberry hand pie at Candy Palace, Lemon at the Honey Spot, Blueberry at Trolley Treats, Raspberry at Bing Bongs, and Guava at Marceline's in Downtown Disney. Reports online have been extremely favorable to the new line of treats, especially the pastry part. – https://www.micechat.com/329376-disneyland-update-part-2-flying-high-over-toontown-construction-sweet-treats/ Guests have been unhappy with the paper straws in the parks for some time now. Now, there is a new eco-friendly option availalbe at teh Candy Palace on Main Street. The new straw option is an edible straw which comes in three flavors; strawberry, lemon, and lime. Each straw costs $1, and the DIsney Food Blog reports that they don't get mushy like the paper straws. For Weeklyteers who would like to try these at home, Amazon.com also sells the same brand online. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/08/09/yes-we-paid-to-eat-our-straw-at-disneyland/ A shop in New Orleans Square is getting a new mix of products from a different vendor. Pluto's Pumpkin Persuit is coming back this year. Like in previous years, guests can purchase a game board to start hunting for the deorated pumpkins scattered around Downtown Disney. Once all the pupkins have been found, the completed game board can be turned in for a special surpise. Last year it was a choice of plastic sipper. – https://www.micechat.com/329833-disneyland-update-the-unfavorables-halloween-screams-toontown-secrets/ Detail oriented guests may have noticed some changes to some grass areas of Main Street recently. Some of the sections have been replaced by artificial terf. Based on the lack of rainfall in California, this might be a good replacement for the greenery. The new terf is almost indistinguishable from real grass and will require less upkeep. – https://www.micechat.com/329833-disneyland-update-the-unfavorables-halloween-screams-toontown-secrets/ Fans of the “I Am Groot” series on Disney+ can now get a new magic shot with their favorite baby Groot charater. The attraction has been closed for over two and a half years – since before the COVID shutdown and was planned to come back in the winter of 2021, but was extended until this week. Anika Noni Rose, the voice of Tiana from Princess and the Frog, was interviewed on the “Kelly and Ryan” talkshow and made a comment that the Splash Mountain refurbishment had a projected opening of 2024. This is the first time that a solid timefram has been spoken about. Disney would not confirm of deny the information, but released a statement that they will have more to share at the Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans in July. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ At Star Wars Celebration last week, it was announced at one of the panels that new scenes would be coming to Star Tours. No details have been released on what the scenes will be, but it is always a welcome addition to have more options. Once we know more, we will be sure to talk about it on a future episode! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/27/disney-hints-at-new-star-tours-scenes/ As we reported last week, Radiator Springs Racers was forced to close after an incident where smoke was coming from one of the ride vehicles. After a 10-day closure, the attraction reopened on Friday, June 3rd. Still no official word on what the cause of the incident was, but a former Disneyland Maintenance Cast Member told MiceChat that the ride vehicles break down regularly and curcuit breakers in each car will cause the vehicle to stop when problems arise. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/06/03/disneyland-reopens-radiator-springs-racers-after-smoking-car-closes-ride-for-more-than-a-week/ and https://www.micechat.com/322588-disneyland-news-radiator-springs-racers-incident-blue-bayou-return-info/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disneyland/fantasmic-dinner-packages/availability-modal/ Guests at Disneyland can dine at a favorite restaurant that has recently reopened in a limited capacity. The Blue Bayou has returned and is not taking online reservations, but guests can join the walk-up wait list for lunch or dinner at the podium at the restaurant, or through the Disneyland mobile app. Pirates of the Caribbean is still closed for refurbishment, so the view may not be as magical as normal. The Fantasmic! dining package lists reservation times starting on June 16th. – https://twitter.com/DisneyParks/status/1532803837068824578 MiceChat was able to obtain aerial photos of Toon Town progress this week. From the air, we can see that all of the pavement in the land has been removed and is currently dirt. The facade of the El CapiTOON theater is looking more and more complete. The area where the new park will be located has been cleared and awaiting work to start. Both fountains in the land have also been removed, along with the gazebo in front of the City Hall building. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ The former entrance to Tarzan's Treehouse has come out from behind walls this week. The area is much more open now for guest traffic heading out of Adventureland toward the bridge over the Pirates queue. Once again, there is not any theming on the new concrete. The lack of the entrance also allows parts of New Orleans Square to be visible throughout Adventureland. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ We are one week into June, and Celebrate Soulfully has officially kicked off at Disneyland. In Disney California Adventure, groups have been performing at the Hollywood Pictures Backlot stage, and in front of Carthay Circle daily, and seasonal food offerings scattered about. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ For anyone who has never seen Fantasmic! or would like some tips on how to best experience it, the Orange County Register posted some tips. Among the best tips are to make sure to find a spot in front of one of the mist screens. They are located in front of the island, and on both sides. If you find yourself in the middle of the screens, the view isn't as good. The other stand out tip is to catch the second show of the night. The second show is always less crowded and it is impossible to sit for hours holding a spot since the entire area is cleared after the first show, and fireworks afterward. The longest you will have to wait is about an hour. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/06/03/7-tips-for-watching-the-return-of-fantasmic-at-disneyland/ Much like the electrical parade, there is a favorite treat at Disneyland that keeps on returning. The Fluffernutter churro is available once again at Willie's Churros on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure. The churro is a standard churro, topeed with a peanut butter sauce, marshmallow sauce, and chocolate chips. The churro is available for $6.75. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/06/review-fantastic-fluffernutter-churro-returns-to-disney-california-adventure/ When we were there last month, there was a line of walls up in front of Ariel's Undersea Adventure. Those walls have finally come down to reveal that they were just replacing the concrete in this area. This is just some of the walkway repaving that has been going on around the entire resort. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ Discussion Topic: Nicolasa from the Disneyana Fan Club

Disney is rolling out a virtual queue system for guests to use through the Disneyland mobile app to grab a spot for the show. Guests will need to have entered Disney California Adventure on a one-park ticket, or Disneyland on a park hopper ticket to be able to get the reservation in the virtual queue. The virtual queue will open at noon every day the show runs. Guests will receive notifications 45 minutes before the show starts to head to either a blue or yellow gate to enter the seating area. Guests can still walk up to see the show, but reservations are highly recommended. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/04/dazzling-world-of-color-returns-on-april-22-to-disney-california-adventure-park/ Character meet and greets started up again this week, without Genie+ required like in Walt Disney World. Since January, the Florida parks have offered four different meet and greets as part of the Genie+ service. So, at Disneyland, guests can now get up close to their favorites to get hugs, high fives, and autographs for the first time since the pandemic began in 2020. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/04/13/disneyland-wont-use-genie-for-character-meet-and-greet-photo-ops/ For those of you who like spoilers, the Disney Parks Blog posted a preview of the Main Street Electrical Parade, along with footage of the new float. Along with the new float for the finale, the drum sign that Mickey rides on has also been updated with “50 Years,” noting the 50th anniversary of the classic parade. The reimagined “To Honor America” float looks great with the new Mary Blair inspired Disney characters and fits right in with the rest of the parade. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/04/first-look-at-the-new-grand-finale-in-the-main-street-electrical-parade-debuting-april-22-at-disneyland-park/ MiceChat had some eyes in the skies recently that gives us some insight on the progress being made in Mickey's Toontown! We have the article linked in the show notes showing that Chip and Dale's Treehouse has been removed, and all of the paving, along with the two fountains in the land have been removed. The gazebo in front of the City Hall in Toontown has also been taken down. – https://www.micechat.com/319510-disneyland-update-pruning-disneyland-treehouses/ Tarzan's Treehouse has been under scrims since last September when it abruptly closed to guests. Disney had not addressed why this was, until this week. The current plan for the attraction, which has stood in Adventureland since 1962, is to remove the entrance to the attraction which blocks guest flow, and to eventually re-theme it to something else. MiceChat speculated one of the options would be back to the Swiss Family Robinson since Disney+ was working on a series based on the classic, but our sources say that series has been put on hold for now. Another option is theming it to Encanto. We will keep you updated when we have more solid information on what it will transform into. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/04/18/disneyland-to-give-tarzans-treehouse-a-new-theme/ One of the most iconic songs from the Disney Parks has been inducted into the Library of Congress. “it's a small world” was first heard on the attraction at the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. The fair had the theme of “Peace Through Understanding,” which fits right in with the attraction that was moved to Disneyland after the fair ended. The song was one of 25 recordings “worthy of preservation for all time based on their cultural, historical or aesthetic importance in the nation's recorded sound heritage.” – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/04/14/disneylands-iconic-its-a-small-world-song-inducted-into-library-of-congress-music-registry/ The Magic Key Terrace continues its transformation slowly. New chandeliers and lighting has been installed, along with faux stained glass, a new fountain, wrought-iron fixtures, and more. The theme is highly inspired by peacocks for the interior, covered portion, and by cats on the exterior portion. Overall, this is a nice improvement to the area and makes it feel more welcoming. – https://www.micechat.com/319510-disneyland-update-pruning-disneyland-treehouses/ Scaffolding has come down from around Stage 12 in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot area of Disney California Adventure. The building has been repainted and a meet and greet for Goofy has been placed here for the Food and Wine Festival. This was the area where Captain Marvel's airplane and meet and greet was previously located. – https://www.micechat.com/319510-disneyland-update-pruning-disneyland-treehouses/ Fans of Disney Pixar's Turning Red have a lot of merchandise options around the parks. Some of the items that are available include a Turning Red Minnie Ear set, some amazingly comfy looking slippers, plushes and more. Some of the most popular items like the 4*Town band shirts have sold out, but will hopefully return in the future. – https://www.micechat.com/319350-disneyland-merchandise-update-stitch-toys/ When Disneyland closed in 2020, the Disney Parks YouTube channel posted a video of the Magic Happens parade. This week, Disney has removed that video from their channel, with no explanation of why. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/04/disney-removes-official-video-of-magic-happens-parade-at-disneyland-from-youtube/ Discussion Topic: Nebraska State Poet and Disneyland Fan Matt Mason At The Corner of Fantasy and Main: Disneyland, Midlife, and Churros – https://theoldmillpress.com/at-the-corner-of-fantasy-and-main.html Blog – http://matt.midverse.com/ Facebook Page – https://www.facebook.com/NeSP3

News: Last week was the last week for Toontown as we knew it. The entire land has now closed and will reopen sometime next spring with a complete renovation. The week leading up to the closure saw a lot of guests getting in their last visit before it turns into something quite new and refreshed. This is the first time that we are aware of that an entire land has been closed for a remodel as extensive as this since the New Fantasyland in the early 80's. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ Encanto fans can now meet Mirabel in a new location at the resort. Mirabel's meet and greet has moved from the Paradise Garden area of Disney California Adventure, where she was located during the Festival of the Holidays, to Zocalo Park in Frontierland. The lines to meet her have been long, so be prepared to wait a bit if you want to get a picture with her. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ One of our Weeklyteers will be very excited at this next piece of news! Tinker Bell has returned to Pixie Hollow, the area between Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and the hub. Tinker Bell has not been in her hollow since sometime in 2020 before the closure of the parks. This is a welcome addition to the meet and greet lineup and is sure to be popular. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ Captain Marvel must be on a mission elsewhere as the jet for her meet and greet has been removed from the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. The area is now behind constructions walls. Who knows what this location will become in the future. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ The new shop in Fantasyland that took over the old Heraldry shop has opened. Merlin's Marvelous Miscellany opened this past week. Most of the merchandise in this location is available elsewhere around the resort, except that some Peter Pan items that are usually just sold in the UK pavilion in Epcot. The details around this cozy shop are the real star here and are a must stop for any Sword in the Stone fans! – https://www.micechat.com/316633-abracadabra-merlins-marvelous-miscellany-opens-at-disneyland/ Disneyland continues to work on infrastructure for the nighttime entertainment in both parks. This week, a new canopy was installed over the top of the pits to the Fantasmic! fountains. What could this mean? MiceChat suggests that it could be new show elements being worked on or installed that will be part of the returning show. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ With the changes coming to New Orleans Square soon, some other things are also disappearing. The two Ficus trees in the courtyard of Pirates of the Caribbean are being taken out due to disease. Hopefully new trees and their much needed shade are put back in some capacity for the queue. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ We are already half way through March, which means that St. Patrick's Day is almost here! To celebrate, the Red Rose Taverne in Disneyland is offering “the Green Stuff,” which is a mint white chocolate mousse, chocolate make, and mint chocolate chips and chocolate cookie crumbs on a shortbread cookie. Corn Dog Castle in Disney California Adventure will offer their dogs coated in a green corn dog batter on March 17th only. Also only available on March 17th is the Strawberry Elderflower Whiskey at the Hollywood Lounge. Some other options around the resort are a Leprechan Cupcake at GCH Craftsman's Grill, and a St. Patrick's Day Whoopie Pie at the GCH Holiday Cart. For the full list, visit the link in our show notes. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/03/foodie-guide-to-st-patricks-day-2022-from-coast-to-coast/ March is Women's History Month, and the Disneyland Resort is celebrating in a number of ways. Minnie Mouse is the star of the celebration with the floral Minnie design that is currently taking the place of the standard floral Mickey in front of the train station. Downtown Disney is welcoming back Marcella Swett, who was the artist behind the Black History Month chalk drawings. to create drawings for Women's History Month. Her creations will be on display from March 15th through the 31st. This time, it is for the Food and Wine Festival. The mural features Goofy, Chip & Dale, and other Disney California Adventure scenes, all made out of food! It is a cute mural and worth checking out if you are in the area. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ Discussion: Producer James asks Tage and Teresa Disney Questions!
