1956 feierte der ESC in Lugano Premiere. Damals hiess der Wettbewerb noch «Concour d'Eurovision de la chanson». Erste Gewinnerin war mit Lys Assia eine Schweizerin. Am 24. März 2018 ist die erste ESC-Siegerin im Alter von 94 Jahren verstorben.
