Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
The evidence trail that ended Warren Jeffs' fugitive run did not start with a wiretap or an informant. It started with a temporary Colorado plate that wasn't visible on a red Cadillac Escalade. When trooper Eddie Dutchover pulled the vehicle over on I-15 near Las Vegas, he found the 482nd person to ever make the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list sitting in the passenger seat with a fake name and a story that fell apart under the first question.Part Three of the Hidden Killers investigation into Warren Jeffs and the FLDS documents the infrastructure of a fugitive operation funded by church tithes. Seth Jeffs caught with $142,000 in cash. Prepaid financial instruments that left no bank trail. Rotating safe houses across multiple states. And the most damning detail: while actively fleeing federal charges, Jeffs returned to Colorado City and performed additional child marriages in a mobile home chapel. The prophet on the run was still committing the crimes he was running from.We also examine the jailhouse video in which Jeffs renounced his prophethood—then reversed course entirely. The power was the point. It was always the point.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? James Kim's Los Angeles-based cannabis company grew from a scrappy startup in 2017 to a legal unicorn worth $1.5 billion. Allegations of black-market activity and lawsuits be damned—Stiiizy aims to be the Nike of cannabis. Inside a warehouse in Downtown Los Angeles, next to a strip club, James Kim, the CEO and cofounder of the California-based cannabis brand Stiiizy opens the door to one of his grow rooms, revealing 972 pot plants, thriving three-foot-tall beauties two weeks from harvest. “This room is all money,” says Kim, who is 37 and has tattoos covering his arms, including a portrait of Ben Franklin and a rose made from a $100 bill. These days, Stiiizy is bringing in plenty of Benjamins. The company—which was founded in 2017 and grows cannabis, manufacturers vapes, pre-rolls, gummies and flower—has nearly 50 branded dispensaries across California and generates more than $800 million a year in revenue. Stiiizy, which is also California's biggest cannabis retailer, is the best-selling weed brand in the country, according to sales data firm Headset. A vertically integrated powerhouse that now operates in seven states, one out of every eight cannabis products sold in the United States is a Stiiizy product. The company, which Forbes estimates to be valued at $1.5 billion, is privately held, secretive and mysterious—out of four original co-founders, only Kim would agree to speak, and he would not confirm the names of his partners. Founded in the gray market days before California legalized recreational marijuana, Stiiizy has also been dogged by lawsuits, rumors of illicit activity (all of which the company denies) and scandals, but none of that has changed the fact that in the $32 billion regulated cannabis industry, Stiiizy is the brand to beat. “We're the number-one brand in the nation,” says Kim. “I always tell people, if we're number one in the nation, we're number one in the world.” A floor below the grow room, Kim walks through his production facility where dozens of employees in blue hairnets and facemasks brush mini blunts with a brown liquid and roll them into a half-pound of kief and put them into trays. In another room, a woman uses a machine to fill 100 Stiiizy vape pens at a time—by the end of the day, workers here will make nearly 100,000 of them. Every month, Stiiizy grows 15,000 pounds of weed and produces about $70 million worth (retail sales) of cannabis products in California, not including how much it produces in Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Missouri, Illinois, and New York, where Stiiizy launched in February and rose to be among the top 10 best-selling brands within a month, according to Lit Alerts. Kim walks out of his warehouse and jumps in the back of his black Cadillac Escalade and his driver takes him a few minutes down the road to Stiiizy's DTLA headquarters. “We always had dreams of the brand getting big,” says Kim, while Notorious BIG's “Juicy” plays over the car speakers. “But we didn't know it would be this big.” Kim, who sports an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak chronograph on his wrist, grew up humbly in Cerritos, California. He shared a bed with his older sister so his parents, both immigrants from South Korea, could rent out the other bedroom to help make ends meet. His parents sold women's clothing at the local Santa Fe Springs Swap Meet and starting at six years old, young James was in charge of setting up the tent, manning the cash register and helping his mom set prices for clothes. (His mom taught him her strategy, which was to price each item at double her cost.) “They put me to work,” he says. “That swap meet was my life.” Read the full story here: By Will Yakowicz https://www.forbes.com/sites/willyakowicz/2025/04/18/inside-stiiizy-the-worlds-best-selling-weed-brand/ Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode of the Tactical Dent Tech Podcast, John Highley dives into a real-world scenario that reveals a powerful truth:
This week, Jun and Daniel sit down for a dedicated media review of Park Chan-wook's newly released dark comedy thriller, No Other Choice (어쩔수가없다). Starring heavyweights like Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin, the film follows a desperate man who loses his corporate job and resorts to lethal measures against his competitors to win it back. The hosts break down the film's stark social commentary on the "American Dream" in a Korean setting, the brilliant subversion of the corporate rat race, and the terrifying reality of an AI-driven dystopian future. If you're interested in why Koreans historically associate eel and "Bokbunja" (raspberry wine) with male stamina, the quirky 1980s history behind naming dry cleaners "Computer Cleaning," or why giving shoes as a romantic gift in Korea is a terrible idea, this episode is for you. We also discuss the shifting symbols of luxury cars—from the classic 90s Hyundai "Gak-Grandeur" to the Cadillac Escalade—the Korean cultural stigma surrounding layoffs compared to the US, and why the idiom "an aching tooth falling out" perfectly captures the film's chaotic climax. As a reminder, we publish our episodes bi-weekly from Seoul, South Korea. Michael Phelps BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian ever, made waves this week with his star turn at the 2026 WM Phoenix Open. The Annexus Pro-Am pairings announced by WM Phoenix Open officials spotlighted Phelps teeing off alongside two-time FIFA World Cup champ Carli Lloyd at TPC Scottsdale, blending his swimming legacy with golf glamour amid Super Bowl heroes and MLB stars. Cronkite News confirmed the Arizona regular's return, drawing crowds to the celebrity-packed event that underscores his enduring draw in elite sports circles.Phelps's iconic records stayed in the headlines too, as EssentiallySports reported Olympian Joshua Liendo slamming the upcoming Enhanced Games on the Night Swim with Dax and Elvis podcast. The Canadian star rejected PED-fueled bids to shatter Phelps's marks, calling it a risky spectacle that threatens sport's integrity and accessibility—echoing broader athlete pushback against the controversial launch. No fresh public appearances or social media posts from Phelps popped up in the last few days, per reliable checks, though his name lingers in Olympic lore. Team USA Hockey's insider noted coach John Hynes citing Phelps's 2008 dominance as his favorite kid memory during 2026 Winter Games prep in Italy. Times of India dished on his luxury garage, from Cadillac Escalade beasts to BMW 760 Li speedsters, painting the 100-million-dollar swimmer's high-octane tastes as of February 7.NASCAR chatter referenced ex-commissioner Steve Phelps in a Sports Business Journal piece on the drama-free 2026 season kickoff, but that's a separate saga. Phelps remains USA Swimming ambassador, per Kemi Filani's January update, fueling speculation on unconfirmed ventures like sports tech investments—though nothing verified breaks ground biographically yet. 60 years ago Wisconsin created the position of "Fairest of the Fairs". Designed to be an ambassador for all fairs in the state, the program is thriving today. Kiley Allan gets a chance to visit with the first "fairest" that started it all. Connie McCallister, was Wisconsin's 1st Fairest of Fairs and says the format was much more relaxed than it is today. She notes that the original competition mirrored the Miss America pageant, featuring swimsuit and formal wear segments. The actual crowning took place on the grandstand stage of the WI State Fair! McCallister says she lived on the fairgrounds during her term, presenting trophies to 4-H participants, appearing in daily parades, and opening nightly grandstand shows for famous entertainers. After her time as Fairest, she worked briefly in Washington D.C. media before serving as a Lutheran minister for 41 years. McAllister emphasizes that while the competition has changed, the fair remains a vital "gift" that celebrates the hard work of 4-H youth and their animals.Warmer weather this week should help with outdoor chores according to Stu Muck.Post Super Bowl, our emphasis is on athletes and agriculture. Dave Bangert is a dairy farmer in Clark County that sits on the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin board. He's also a coach who knows how sports brings communities together. That's why he believes the investment DFW makes annually to partner with the WIAA in Wisconsin makes sense. Bangert says not only does it connect the dots on dairy nutrition in young people's diets, it highlights the connection that dairy farm families have with student athletes and their communities. Paid for by Dairy Farmer of Wisconsin. What happens when the sports spotlight ends? It could be by the athletes choice or not. What's next? For Marcus Landry, a former UW-Madison Badger basketball player, his playing career ended at 35. Stephanie Hoff learns that Landry found agriculture when his wife sent him for eggs. He returned with 14 chickens instead in the back of her Cadillac Escalade. He jokingly refers to it as providing a "life supply of eggs" rather than just a carton. He says those were initially kept in the living room while he built a coop outside. Today Landry and his family share their farm with students and 4-H members from the area as they work on their business plans for life. Learning what they can do, finding self-sustainability and financial literacy.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
After retiring from professional basketball at age 35, Marcus Landry traded his sneakers for soil to build a multi-species farm, Beulah Family Homestead, near East Troy. He tells Stephanie Hoff about the "all or nothing" mindset that led him to expand from a suburban backyard to a 20-acre homestead (and growing) featuring everything from Highland cattle to Clydesdales. More than just a farm, Marcus also tells Mid-West Farm Report about how his 4-H programs and basketball camps are providing inner-city youth with a holistic path toward entrepreneurship, education, and a better life. And yes, he did use his wife's Cadillac Escalade to haul not just chickens, but sheep!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Katie Couric pokes fun at Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle ad in a new PSA for colon cancer screenings. The clip opens to a close-up of Katie wearing a jean jacket, and quickly pans out to show she's wearing a hospital gown underneath, and she's on a gurney getting ready for a colonoscopy. She tells the camera, quote, "Speaking of genes. Did you know that the majority of people who develop colon cancer are not genetically predisposed to the disease? That's why doctors recommend everyone 45 and older get checked." Katie told "People" magazine, quote, "That ad showed how pop culture and a pair of jeans could really shape the cultural conversation, it was everywhere. It was a moment in time, and we thought, 'Why don't we ride that horse a little bit longer and have some fun with it?'" It'sbeen 25 years since Katie became the first person in history to broadcast a colonoscopy on national TV. She lost her husband to colon cancer in 1998. He was only 42. One of the most famous homes in American history is opening its doors to the public for the first time ever. The "Brady Bunch" house in North Hollywood will be accessible to fans on November 7th, 8th, and 9th. And while bookings are sold out, you can register to be on a waitlist, or be notified if additional dates become available. When the show was in production back in the day, the house was only used for EXTERIOR shots. The inside of the Brady home was created on a soundstage, and the inside of the actual house looked nothing like it. But HGTV bought the house in 2018, and renovated it so that it DOES match the house from the show. And of course, they recorded it for a series called "A Very Brady Renovation". Step into the fascinating world of automotive treasures as we journey through the Savoy Automobile Museum in Cartersville, Georgia. Museum representative Mary Agrusa takes us on a captivating tour through their remarkable barn finds collection, where each vehicle tells an extraordinary story of discovery and preservation. From a GT350 Mustang with deliberately preserved deteriorating paint to the one-of-a-kind 1949 Packard Monte Carlo convertible built by Henney, these automotive time capsules reveal the passionate dedication of collectors and restorers. The museum's fiberglass car collection offers another dimension of automotive history, showcasing rare and one-off vehicles that represent the DIY spirit of enthusiasts who once ordered kit cars from the back pages of automotive magazines. The Novetta stands as a testament to dedication, taking its owner 20 years to complete by piecing together parts from various sources, including Mini Cooper hinges and other creative solutions. We dive into automotive styling history with Jeff's Car Culture segment on vinyl roofs – that distinctive styling trend from the 1960s through the early 1990s that gave fixed-roof cars a convertible-like appearance. While once the height of automotive fashion adorning everything from muscle cars to Corvettes, vinyl tops are now often considered problematic during restorations, trapping moisture and accelerating rust underneath their fashionable exterior.Bringing us to the present day, our comprehensive review of the 2025 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate reveals why this luxury SUV commands attention. With its 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8, distinctive baseball stitching interior, and comprehensive technology package including second-row entertainment screens, this $107,285 top-tier model represents the sweet spot between the Chevrolet Suburban and Cadillac Escalade.Discover more automotive insights and adventures by subscribing to our podcast or joining us for our live show every Saturday morning from 8-11am central. Following our summer spin-off episodes, the show returns to its normal off the wall self, as our hosts catch up on what's been going on. First up, Benjamin shares his thoughts on the large and technically impressive 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ. His review covers both the good and the bad of this gargantuan EV. He also comments on Cadillac's approach of stuffing its large SUV with everything possible, and whether its a sensible, sustainable model of EV development. Benjamin then shares how the Cadillac IQ compares to the gas powered model, which is now only available with a thirsty V8, rather that the loveable diesel. While these two share a name, they seem wildly different, but a few important factors keep them so appealing. Thanks for listening!
Jerry Wayne dives into the wild history of the Cadillac Escalade and shares a hilarious story about crossing paths with comedian Ralphie May during his early days in stand-up.
Buell Motorcycles CEO Bill Melvin joins the podcast to talk about resurrecting an old American brand in the age of Trump's tariffs. Plus, a deep dive on the Cadillac Escalade IQ and a preview of the Ineos Grenadier.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In Podcast #350, Jessica Ray steps in as host for a vacationing John Davis. Her and the MotorWeek crew have a small constellation of vehicles to talk about, starting with two new entries into Cadillac's all-electric IQ portfolio: the OPTIQ, yes, spelled with an ‘IQ' at the end, and the Escalade IQ. Then we'll shift over to the Honda Civic Si, a name known and loved by many enthusiasts, and one that recently benefited from a model-line refresh. We'll wrap up with an all-new ride from their sister company Acura, the 2025 ADX, which makes their utility lineup bigger…by going smaller. But before that we'll focus our energy into a Lighting Round about lightning-fast EV charging tech and answer a double-header viewer question about using up all that recouped charge.
Christian joins the podcast with the GM Guru while he anxiously awaits the result of his 2012 Cadillac Escalade on BaT. How much will the Escalade sell for and will Justin be satisfied with the result? Christian and I talk about the new bill that is being presented in California, labeled as "Leno's Law". We talk smog and emissions testing and what this bill means for car enthusiasts in the State of California.
Hannah and Matt discuss Porsche's struggle to succeed in the world of electric vehicles. Plus, Hannah joins from San Francisco where she talks Dolby Atmos and the new electric Cadillac Escalade IQ. And Matt drives the Lamborghini Urus.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Darren Gough is one of this country's greatest ever cricketers, having represented England and his beloved Yorkshire for decades. He won Strictly Come Dancing (twice if you believe him!) in the noughties, but these days golf is his greatest passion, along with cars of course. When it comes to motors, with Darren it's normally the bigger the better! Range Rovers, Land Rovers and even the behemoth that is the Cadillac Escalade is on his hitlist, but there have been smaller toys along the way in his more formative years. These days though, as a respectable man in his mid fifties, Darren can see himself looking quietly understated and naturally sophisticated in an Aston Martin, provided he doesn't have to pay for it. So, true to form and upholding almost every Yorkshire stereotype there is, Goughie wants to blag one, as he may have mentioned 3 or 5 times to Jason and Dave!
The 2025 Ford Bronco Sport has received a significant upgrade with the introduction of the Sasquatch off-road package. Host Jack Nerad drove it just days ago and then discussed the vehicle's nuances with Bronco Sport Brand Manager Mike Weller at a special event outside Knoxville, Tennessee. We'll share that interview with you on America on the Road this week. As off-road fans know, the serious all-terrain Sasquatch package was previously exclusive to the larger Bronco, but Ford is now making it available for the Bronco Sport Badlands and Outer Banks models. It significantly enhances the vehicle's off-road capabilities with features like a twin-clutch rear-drive unit, locking rear differential, and large 29-inch Goodyear Territory All-Terrain tires, giving the likable crossover much greater off-pavement capabilities. The Bronco Sport's Sasquatch package exterior features modular steel bumpers, additional underbody protection, and revised wheel designs. Interior enhancements include an available grab handle and auxiliary switches. As Weller detailed in the exclusive interview, these updates make the Bronco Sport a more versatile small SUV that caters to outdoor enthusiasts seeking both capability and modern technology. And he'll share much more. In the news this week, Tesla Motors is returning to an old marketing scheme by offering cash for referrals. It could save you a substantial amount if you plan to buy an EV soon, and we'll have the details. There's crankiness in Detroit, as a union leader suggests that the CEO of a global automaker should resign in a dispute over the reopening of a factory. We'll tell the who's and why's on that one and what the future of the automaker might hold. The agonizingly slow rollout of the electric vehicle charging network is getting a lot of people hot under the collar. Now the federal government is poised to spend more than $500 million in that effort, and we'll tell you if it could mean you'll finally get some DC fast chargers at a convenient location near you. On a happier note, Hagerty is getting ready to display some full-size versions of classic Hot Wheels vehicles on the National Mall in Washington, DC. We'll tell you when that will happen and share some Hot Wheels stories, too. In our road tests this week, Co-Host Chris Teague got a very early chance to drive Infiniti's all-new full-size 2025 QX80. Does it have the goods to play in the big leagues of full-size luxury SUVs like the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator and Grand Wagoneer? Teague will share his opinion. Across the country, Jack Nerad spent the past week testing the enhanced Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S, a very appealing revamp of the battery-electric-powered U.S.-built compact crossover SUV. Delivering more miles on a charge, the Pro S version of the vehicle might be the best combination of range, performance, charging ability and value VW has ever offered. Nerad will have all the details coming up. In all, we have a ton of show this week. Thanks for joining us. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com

The Automotive Troublemaker w/ Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier
It isn't Pi day if we don't mention it, and we are excited to ask Michael Wood what his favorite “pie” is. Today, we are all in the EV space chatting about broadening lineups for Hyundai, VW, and Jaguar.Hyundai is gearing up to expand its electric vehicle lineup with the IONIQ 9, a first-of-its-kind three-row electric SUV from the automaker. The IONIQ 9, Hyundai's first three-row electric SUV, follows the success of the IONIQ 5 and 6, with the IONIQ 5 ranking as the sixth top-selling EV in the US last year.Utilizing Hyundai's E-GMP platform, the IONIQ 9 promises exceptional space and performance, possibly offering more rear legroom than luxury competitors like the Cadillac Escalade.Set to start production in the first half of the year, with US sales expected in mid-2025, the IONIQ 9 will be manufactured at Hyundai's new EV Metaplant in Georgia, aiming to qualify for the $7,500 EV tax credit. The brand is expected to unveil the model in June.Volkswagen, once embroiled in the Dieselgate scandal, is now at the forefront of the electric vehicle revolution, embarking on its most ambitious product launch to date on its way to a 100% EV future.VW's transformation into an EV powerhouse is marked by the announcement of over 30 new models across its brands, aiming for a record year in 2024."We will invest in our last-generation of ICE vehicles,” which are especially key for hybrids, board member and CFO Arno Antlitz said. Then, he said, “These investments are going to be phased out.”In 2023, the VW Group saw deliveries rise 10% globally with an operating profit of €22.6 billion (about $25 billion.)Jaguar is embracing an all-electric future with plans to exclusively produce electric vehicles by 2025, including luxury SUVs.
