Welcome The Allegendly Podcast, the history podcast where truth and trickery go head-to-head! Each episode, our hosts are handed 5 historical "facts", but here's the twist: not all of them are real. Using sharp memory, deductive reasoning, and a healthy dose of skepticism, they must separate the verified from the fabricated. This week's theme: Antique Medical Devices and Procedures. From leech therapy to electrified corsets, we're diving into the bizarre, brilliant, and sometimes terrifying world of old-school medicine. Which treatments were actually used, and which are just historical hearsay? Can you spot the imposters before the hosts do?Tune in, test your knowledge, and prepare to be amazed (and maybe a little horrified).Subscribe for weekly episodes and join the hunt for historical truth!#HistoryPodcast #FactOrFiction #AntiqueMedicine #MedicalHistory #PodcastChallenge

Lured Up Podcast 369 Live Streamed on -10/29/25 Publish Date - 10/31/25 The two-part Halloween Event is just about a wrap, and we're sure everyone's storage is packed with costume Pokémon that need to be transferred. This year brought a nice blend of new and previously released costumes, the Shiny Hunt played perfectly into the Halloween spirit. Sinister Spotlight Hour was one of the most exciting in a long time, and it was a blast looking for Antique forms on top of the grind. After having the rare weekend off last week, this weekend brings GMAX Garbodor which we will get you prepared for thanks to a Max Battle Guide and Battle Party. We take a look at GO Hub and Pokebattler and lay out our teams, with Ken going for defense and Adam on the attack. Let us know who you will be bringing to take on GMAX Garbodor and how you do with the event! Looking out into November we have the Enchanted Hollow and Into the Wild Events on the calendar. November's GO Pass brings back the Lucky Trinket, which seems to be the most popular reward to the Community. We suggest planning to do a lot of raids during Into the Wild, so you should start looking into boxes of passes now, and stay away from the impulse buys in the moment during the event. The hot Community topic of the week is brought to you by all the silly Trainers online that are flexing their clearly manipulated Level 80 screenshots. Not only was the internet not impressed, but they were also foaming at the mouth with anger! We discuss the impact of how cheaters can influence motivation of even the most diehard content creators, and the trickle down effect it has on their audience. It's a slippery slope but we love to see the passion. Here's to hoping Niantic slash Scopely's anti-cheat measures do their job! Butterscotch detonates at 114 proof. That's where our Weller Foolproof tasting takes off—one bottle from 2024, another from 2025—and the room splits over oak tannins, finish length, and whether a splash of water makes the magic or mutes it. We bring the community into the glass, reading live notes from listeners while we map out how Buffalo Trace's weeded mashbill underpins both Weller and the Pappy Van Winkle line.We walk through the Weller family tree—Special Reserve, Antique 107, Weller 12, Full Proof, and limited runs like CYPB—and explain how non-chill filtration and barrel entry proof shape texture and flavor. Expect a nose packed with caramel, brown sugar, wafer, and cocoa; a palate that screams Werther's without turning flabby; and a long, assertive finish that some read as leather or tobacco and others as dark chocolate with a bitter edge. Then we test “Knobs on Ice” for a proofed-down look at how dilution shifts oak, softens heat, and tweaks balance.Beyond tasting notes, we dig into the realities of availability. Why Weller vanishes from shelves, how lotteries and border-town stores change the game, and where MSRP actually lands when you get lucky. We close with the Old Louisville Whiskey Company's Barrel Bottle Breakdown scoring: nose, body, taste, and finish—and Weller Foolproof walks away with 15.75 out of 18. If you're chasing a bottle, this is the roadmap. If you've got one open, pour along and compare your notes with ours.Enjoy the ride? Jeffrey Eisenberg and I were looking though a pair of antique doors at Austin Auction Gallery when I saw a remarkable oil painting on the wall behind them and whispered in wonder, “Ozymandias.”The auction catalog described the painting as, “Arabian horse and handler with Egyptian sphinx, signed lower right Maksymilian Novak-Zemplinski (Polish, b.1974), dated 2000.”But I knew that painting for what it was. I've loved “Ozymandias” since the 9th grade. You remember it, don't you? Bryan Cranston read that famous poem in the final episode of “Breaking Bad.” The title of the episode was “Ozymandias,” and TV Guide picked it as “the best television episode of the 21st century.” It was also the only episode of a TV show ever to achieve a perfect 10-out-of-10 rating on IMDb with over 200,000 votes, putting it at the number one spot for the most highly rated television episode ever:I met a traveller from an antique land,Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stoneStand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,Tell that its sculptor well those passions readWhich yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;And on the pedestal, these words appear:“My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!”Nothing beside remains. Round the decayOf that colossal Wreck, boundless and bareThe lone and level sands stretch far away. When I returned home from the auction, I spent a delightful 90 minutes tracking down all the bits and pieces of how that poem came to exist. It was in 1817 that Percy Bysshe Shelley and his poet friend, Horace Smith read the news that the carved head of Egyptian Pharaoh Ramesses II had been removed from its tomb at Thebes by an Italian adventurer and that it would soon be traveling to Britain.Shelly suggested to Smith that each of them should write a poem about it and title each of their poems “Ozymandias,” the Greek name for Egyptian pharaoh Ramesses II.Look at the poem as it appeared in newspaper on that day in 1818, and you will see that Percy Bysshe Shelley signed it, “Glirastes.” He did it as an inside joke intended only for his wife, Mary Shelley, who, incidentally, published her famous novel “Frankenstein” that same year.Mary often signed her letters to Percy as “your affectionate dormouse.” So Percy combined “Gliridae” (Latin for dormouse) with “Erastes” (Greek for lover) to create “Glirastes,” (meaning “lover of dormice.”)So now you know how Google's second-most-often-searched poem came to be published without anyone in London suspecting that it had been written on a bet with a friend by one of the most famous poets on earth who chose to sign it with a pseudonym as an inside joke to his wife.Did you know that I became an ad writer only because it was impossible to support myself as a poet? Now that you know that, you will not be surprised that Indy Beagle has collected Google's Top 20 Poems for you to read in the rabbit hole. Indy also found the Horace Smith version of Ozymandias, and added it at the end of the Google's Top 20 list.To enter the rabbit hole, all you have to do is click the image that appears at the top of today's Monday Morning Memo. You'll find this memo archived as “Looking Though Antique Doors,” the Monday Morning Memo for October 20th, 2025.This is the Google Top 20 List:“The Road Not...
