Ready to transpile your Javascript? Carl and Richard chat with Craig McKeachie about BabelJS, an open source tool for transpiling Javascript. Why would you want to do that? So you can write in the latest version of Javascript and still have it run everywhere! Craig talks about how the rate of evolution in Javascript is increasing, and the jump that is ECMAScript 6, also known as ECMAScript 2015, makes the language a lot more, well C#-like. But the implementations in browsers is not as even, and that doesn't account for features coming in ECMAScript 7! Babel deals with this problem by transpiling into Javascript that runs everywhere. The key to quickly learning JavaScript MV* Frameworks is to break them down into a series of features. The main features of an MV* application are routing, data binding, templates/views, models, and data access. In this talk I’ll describe these features and show code examples from AngularJS, Backbone, and Ember for each feature. You will begin to concretely understand what these frameworks are trying to help you accomplish and realize they are more alike than they are different. In fact, it becomes apparent that most of the frameworks borrow heavily from the successes of the others.

The EntreProgrammers Episode 28 Author Craig McKeachieJohn is in Hawaii. Still? The EntreProgrammers and Craig tell you.Craig is the author of: JAVASCRIPT FRAMEWORK GUIDE ANGULARJS, BACKBONE, EMBERSo, we have 4 authors – also entrepreneurs - in this episode discussing the difficulties that come with writing a book, being a programmer and entrepreneur, and of course, promoting and marketing that which they create. You just now flew in and have become the fly on the wall. McKeachie gives the premise of the book that he wrote, “It’s basically like a book that compares and contrasts angularjs, ember and backbone and talks about a lot of the pros and cons and helps you kind a quickly learn them all by learning them together instead of like learning them separately which would require you reading 5 or 10 books, that sort a thing.”Visit Craig McKeachie at: http://www.funnyant.com/javascript-framework-guide/. This gives you the opportunity to purchase his book in addition to taking in other useful information published on his site.Down load a sample chapter and the table of contents to read what’s in his book; and check-out the section: LEARN FROM THE EXPERTS which includes Ari Lerner, Derick Bailey, Ward Bell, Brennan Dunn, Brian Sam-Boden and Nathan Barry.Vacations are supposed to be healthy for you. On the down-side, a vacation can actually hurt you and your entrepreneurial efforts. John elaborates on this subject. The EntreProgrammers go into a rather lengthy and detailed discussion with Craig about the benefits of doing guest blog posts, posts in a community and article sites.
