Kids don't come with an owner's manual. We daddys kind of figure things out on the fly--like building a plane in flight. But there are some things we can probably all agree on. It's our role, and the way we father our kids either leads them to greatness, or down the drain, or somewhere in between. And we'll always be fathers, but we'll only have this golden opportunity to raise our children as daddys for a season: tucking them in, teaching them lessons and values, and managing discipline.Even though we enforce rules to reflect our values, our values are not as simple as rules--and it can be important to realize that sometimes, the character traits that will make our children successful adults might be the same traits that make them difficult children.
What's up Love Gang! We got an awesome interview lined up today with my man Drew Solelyn. He is the founder of ConnectedDads.ca and Director at DadsCentral.ca and he's got one heck of a story. We unpeeled some of those layers and we also got into his personal life and his cookie addiction. Relating to Drew is easy as he's such an honest and open guy, tune into the entire episode and connect with Drew below. This week, Dr. Pamela and Robert Pierce will be joined by two camera activists to discuss how they have used their cameras as a voice for change against racism and a panel of fathers to discuss how fatherhood is their activism.
The 1st superhero I heard about growing up was not Superman or Batman. It was DADDY. On the Father's Day special, we are going to encourage the fathers who has been fulfilling their responsibilities, to educate & challenge the fathers who are not, to do so in the episode called... The REAL Super Heroes!!

You are living a legacy of leadership. Right now, you have the opportunity to influence your customers, your co-workers, your community, and your children. It takes a village to raise a child. Devon Bandison believes that…with a twist. He believes every individual leader – that’s you – can influence life in a positive way. Researchers have proved that father/child contact is associated with better socio-emotional and academic functioning. Results indicate that children with more involved fathers experience fewer behavioral problems and score higher on reading achievement. Devon knows that Fatherhood is leadership and Leadership Is Influence. Devon coaches fathers around the world on how to become high performing leaders and agents of change in the lives of their children. His signature talk “Fatherhood is Leadership” has gained national recognition and was a featured TED Talk at TEDx Boca Raton in March 2015. He brings a message of hope to fathers who have struggled with work-life integration. Adversity has served as Devon’s greatest teacher molding him into the modern leader and loving father he is today. With the pain of his parent’s divorce in early childhood and absent father addicted to drugs, staying on course for success proved to be challenging. However, as a young father a shift in perspective and a decision to choose growth over victimization transformed his life. Devon began the road to recovering his true self. His leadership seminars and coaching programs inspire many leaders across the globe. It is the gifts of adversity that fuel Devon’s compassion and dedication to helping others find their voice, inspire hope and live their own legacy of leadership.
