Free Resource: Download the Day Alone with God Guide at emotionallyhealthy.org/sabbathMost leaders I know have a daily time with God. Very few ever stop long enough to actually hear Him.There's a difference between a longer quiet time and a day alone with God. One sustains you. The other re-orders you. And if you're honest, you know the difference—because you've felt what happens when your life gets disordered and nothing seems to bring it back into focus. In this episode, I'm walking you through how to spend a half day—or full day—alone with God, and why this practice may be the most important thing missing from your leadership right now. We'll look at how Jesus, Moses, Elijah, and Anna all built extended withdrawal into their lives with God—not as a luxury, but as a necessity.I'll also share a simple six-movement structure you can use right away, along with the fears and resistances that keep most leaders from ever doing this.Your leadership will only go as deep as your life with God. These offices hold over $5 trillion in total estimated wealth today, an amount expected to grow to over $9 trillion by 2030. In today's Redefiners episode, Marla Oates and Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic talk with Stephan Roche, a Partner with BanyanGlobal Family Business Advisors. Take your team through the Emotionally Healthy Leader Book. Download the FREE discussion guide: http://www.emotionallyhealthy.org/leaderChurch scandals don't begin the day they are exposed. They begin years earlier—in quiet compromises, ignored red flags, and leaders whose gifting has grown faster than their maturity. In this episode of The Emotionally Healthy Leader Podcast, I go beneath the headlines to name the real issue: church scandals are not first a PR problem. They are a formation problem.Jesus told us pressure would come. He told us not to be surprised. And He made clear that what will matter in the end is not image management, but whether we have become the kind of leaders who can stand firm under pressure without collapsing.I unpack four essential pillars every pastor and church leader needs if they hope to lead with integrity over the long haul: facing your shadow, leading out of your marriage or singleness, slowing down for loving union with Jesus, and practicing Sabbath delight. This is not about quick fixes. Send a textIn Part III of the Husbands: Provider & Protector series on Marriage Mondays with The Kings, the conversation continues to explore what true leadership in the home looks like for husbands and fathers. After addressing many of the concerns wives and children have expressed in previous shows—such as emotional absence, limited engagement, and spiritual passivity—this discussion focuses on the full blueprint of leadership that goes beyond simply providing financially and protecting physically. While providing and protecting are foundational responsibilities, true leadership requires much more. A husband's influence is seen through his emotional presence, spiritual guidance, intentional fatherhood, humility, accountability, and willingness to pursue personal healing. When husbands actively lead in these areas—praying with their families, communicating openly, participating in parenting, and setting the spiritual tone of the home—they help create stability, safety, and a lasting generational impact.Providing builds survival.Presence builds legacy. This episode challenges husbands, fathers, and future leaders of homes to step fully into the role of guiding their families with strength, wisdom, and intentionality.Support the show
Send a textIn Part II of this impactful series on Marriage Mondays with The Kings, we continue the discussion from the first show by revisiting the concerns many wives and children have shared regarding emotional absence, limited engagement, and spiritual passivity in the home. We also referenced research and data that highlight the powerful impact of active, present fatherhood. This episode shifts from identifying the gaps to offering direction. Providing financially and protecting physically are essential, but true leadership goes further. Biblical leadership requires emotional presence, spiritual guidance, intentional fatherhood, accountability, and personal healing. We explore what it looks like for husbands to lead holistically — praying with their families, communicating openly, participating in parenting, and creating an atmosphere of safety and stability. When a husband fully embraces his role, it transforms not only his marriage but the next generation.Providing builds survival. Presence builds legacy. If you are a husband, father, or future leader of a home, this episode offers encouragement and practical insight into becoming the leader your family truly needs.Support the show
What do you do when someone crosses a line—especially when tolerating it could pay off financially? In this episode, Joe Rockey brings a fresh, real-world story: after years of work building a client's business toward a major breakthrough, a volatile outburst (in front of Joe's wife and kids) triggers a hard decision—ending the relationship right as the payoff is finally in reach.Joe and Father Boniface Hicks walk through the difference between reacting in anger versus setting a boundary with prudence. They explore why some “wins” can feel morally and emotionally “dirty,” how a parent's choices shape a family's peace, and how God can give clarity through interior calm (the “snow globe” settling). The conversation stays grounded in the three-relationship lens: integrity within self, charity and boundaries with others, and discernment under God.Key IdeasNot every hard decision is a moral absolute; many are prudential judgments about what you will (and won't) tolerate.Boundaries protect your family culture as much as they protect your business.Sometimes the “cost” isn't money—it's the sense that accepting certain behavior taints the relationship and the fruit of the work.Discernment can show up as interior peace and clarity after a difficult decision (“snow globe” settling).Growth is real when old triggers don't produce the old reactions—faith can re-train anger into measured action.Links & References (official/source only)Dr. Jordan B. Send a textIn this impactful episode of Marriage Mondays with The Kings, we address a belief many husbands carry: “As long as I provide and protect, I've fulfilled my role.”Providing financially and protecting physically are essential responsibilities. However, are they the complete blueprint for biblical leadership? This conversation challenges men to look deeper. We discuss how limiting leadership to income and physical security can leave emotional, spiritual, and relational gaps within the home. Many wives express concerns about emotional absence, lack of partnership in parenting, spiritual passivity despite church titles, and disengagement from daily family life. Children often share that their fathers are present physically but not emotionally available. Research consistently shows that engaged fatherhood significantly impacts children's academic performance, emotional health, and behavioral stability. We also address an often overlooked issue: many men avoid healing. Suppressed emotions, unresolved childhood wounds, reluctance to seek therapy, and emotional withdrawal can affect how a husband leads his household.Being a provider and protector is foundational — but leadership requires presence, spiritual engagement, vulnerability, and intentional fatherhood. This episode calls husbands to move beyond survival leadership and into transformational leadership at home.Support the show
Why do churches with sincere faith, gifted leaders, and strong theology still split? In this powerful episode of the Emotionally Healthy Leader Podcast, Pete Scazzero exposes a hard truth many leaders have experienced but rarely name: church fractures are rarely about doctrine or vision—they are about formation.Drawing from decades of pastoral leadership and personal failure, Pete explains why spiritual maturity without emotional maturity is unsustainable. Churches don't split because people don't love Jesus. They split because leaders and communities lack the emotionally healthy skills needed to love one another well under pressure, conflict, disappointment, and power dynamics. This episode explores why skills like incarnational listening, clarifying expectations, understanding how family history shapes leadership, and engaging in clean conflict are essential for healthy culture. Pete shares stories from his own leadership journey, including a painful church split that could have been prevented if these skills had been in place. If you're a pastor or leader longing to build a church culture that thrives—not just for a season, but for generations—this episode offers wisdom, hope, and a clear next step forward.
Around the world, churches are working hard to make disciples, lead faithfully, and impact their communities. Yet many leaders are exhausted, relationships are strained, and spiritual growth feels shallow or stalled. Why?In this episode, Pete Scazzero addresses a core truth that often goes unnamed: emotional health is the missing link in the global church. Drawing from his own painful leadership crisis and decades of ministry experience, Pete explains why it's impossible to be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature. He explores how unaddressed emotional issues limit discipleship, distort leadership, and quietly undermine the church's witness—no matter how strong our theology or vision may be.In this conversation, Pete unpacks:Why emotional health is foundational—not optional—to spiritual maturityHow cultural, theological, and leadership blind spots keep the church stuckThe biblical and theological roots of emotionally healthy spiritualityWhat emotionally healthy leadership looks like in real-life ministryHow redefining success can transform churches and communitiesPete challenges leaders to slow down, go beneath the surface, and embrace emotional health as God's pathway to deeper transformation—personally, relationally, and globally. If you long to see a healthier, more Christlike church—and know it must start with you—this episode will reframe how you think about discipleship, leadership, and success.Listen now and take your next step toward building emotionally healthy leaders and churches around the world.▶️ Learn more about Emotionally Healthy Discipleship and spiritual maturity http://www.emotionallyhealthy.org/matureThe SEHL is a 16-week online course for leaders who want to deepen their life with Jesus while gaining practical tools to disciple others. In this episode of Uncommon Sense, I'm calling out a problem no one wants to confront: the normalization of partying, drinking, and casual sex especially among so-called “conservative influencers.”You cannot claim to defend Western Civilization while publicly celebrating the very behaviors that destroyed past civilizations. Conservatism without morality is just aesthetic rebellion. We don't need more clout, cocktails, or compromised values. We need a return to godliness, self-discipline, and moral responsibility because the future generations watching us will inherit whatever standard we tolerate today. If we want to save the West, we have to get serious about being truly Christian again.--https://www.bible.com/

Have you ever asked yourself: Am I willing to face discomfort and take courageous action? What negative self-talk or pressure am I letting control me? Have I ever taken the time to really name and face what's weighing me down or keeping me up at night? Whether you're a business owner, a hard-working dad, or somewhere in between, Larry lays out why building intentional connections with other men and seeking growth is key to creating a legendary life—both for yourself and the generations to come. Drawing from personal experience and eye-opening statistics, Larry opens up about his own journey through denial, honesty, and growth, unpacking how easy it is for men to stay stuck in “I'm fine” mode—even when struggling internally. He offers three powerful strategies to support mental well-being: ruthless self-honesty, taking care of your body and mind, and intentionally building a supportive, growth-oriented circle of men. If you're ready to get honest, find your tribe, and start moving forward, this episode will be the wake-up call you need. Become the best husband you can: https://bit.ly/deamarriageyoutube In this vital conversation, we dig into: Move Your Body, Guard Your Mind, and Cut the Junk: Mental and physical health are inseparable. Larry calls this the second pillar: move your body, guard your mind, and cut out the junk. Regular movement, whether it's a walk, a lift, or a sweat session, can clear your head and improve your mood. You don't need a perfect workout routine. Consistency is far more important. Upgrade Your Circle: Brotherhood Over Isolation: Isolation is the silent killer of men's mental health. Many fathers try to “lone wolf” their way through struggles, believing they must handle everything themselves. Larry warns that this mindset can erode your spirit and make life's challenges feel even heavier. The Power of Getting Honest With Yourself: Every father experiences moments of feeling lost, overwhelmed, or out of his depth. According to Larry, the first and most crucial step is honesty. Too often, we brush aside our struggles with the phrase, "I'm fine," when, in reality, we are not. Instead of masking the pain or confusion, Larry encourages dads to face those feelings head-on. This episode will inspire you to disrupt the repeating pattern, reclaim your purpose, and start living a legendary life. Here's what research and observation highlight about men's mental health: One in eight men will deal with serious depression in their lifetime, but over 60% will not get help. Men die by suicide four times more than women, but rarely ask for help. Most dads say that they feel consistently stressed or burned out trying to balance work, fatherhood, and marriage. But nearly half admit feeling completely and totally alone. If you're filling your head with hours of doomscrolling news and mindless social media every day, your risk doubles. Studies show people who watch over 3 hours of news daily are twice as likely to report severe anxiety, depression, and sleep problems. www.thedadedge.com/mastermind

Have you ever asked yourself: "Do I find myself focusing more on what I don't want in my marriage, rather than sharing what I truly need or hope for?" "Am I recognizing and attempting to meet my wife's deep needs to feel seen, heard, and safe?" "Am I honestly communicating my needs and working with my spouse to understand hers?" One of the most powerful shifts came from understanding that men and women have fundamentally different needs in marriage. Men crave respect, appreciation, and affection. Women need to be seen, heard, and feel safe. If these needs aren't met, resentment can brew silently for years, eroding the relationship from within. Turning 50 is a milestone—it marks not only the passage of time but also a treasure trove of life lessons. On this episode of The Dad Edge Podcast, Larry Hagner shares the advice he wishes he'd had in his early days of marriage and fatherhood. Larry opens up about his fears before marrying his college sweetheart—a perspective shaped by his own experiences growing up around divorce and dysfunctional relationships. For years, he worried marriage would end in resentment, disconnection, or eventual separation. But with 20 years under his belt, Larry has discovered that extraordinary marriages don't happen by accident; they're the result of effort, self-awareness, and learning new relationship skills. If you've ever struggled with self-doubt, felt lost in marriage or fatherhood, or wished for a community of men who just get it, this episode is for you. Stay tuned as Larry kicks off a four-part July series reflecting on marriage, parenting, wealth, health, and perspective—all with the goal of helping you live legendary. Become the best husband you can: https://bit.ly/deamarriageyoutube In this vital conversation, we dig into: Your Marriage Doesn't Have to “Go Dry”: Most of us didn't grow up seeing functional relationships. Larry candidly discusses how he almost let the fear of divorce and dysfunction keep him from marrying the woman he truly loved—and why that perspective was dead wrong. The Power of Active Love (from Your Kids' Perspective): This week's episode features a spontaneous cameo from Larry's 11-year-old son, Lawson! He shares—with humor and honesty—how seeing his parents in a loving relationship makes him feel happy and safe at home. It's a heartfelt reminder: how you show up with your spouse is what your kids truly remember. No More Content Zombie Syndrome: We all absorb tons of self-development podcasts and books. But unless we commit to consistently practicing what we learn—and DO the work—the needle doesn't move. Larry talks about the critical difference between knowing what to do and actually doing it. Find Your Corner Men: Whether you're a nine-to-fiver or a business owner, Larry stresses the importance of having men in your corner—mentors ahead of you, peers beside you, and those you can teach. We rise together, and having the right tribe accelerates every area of our lives. Whether you're married, a new dad, or a seasoned father, this episode is packed with relatable stories and actionable advice that could save your marriage and strengthen your home. Here's what research and observation highlight about marriages: Only 12% of people who still are married can actually identify their relationship as working and they're happy. Statistics have shown that when a woman says out loud, "I think we should separate," or "I think we should get divorced," she's been thinking that for a minimum of two years. www.thedadedge.com/friday215 www.thedadedge.com/mastermind

As parents, how do we raise our kids to be resilient against life's inevitable hardships? Good Inside author Dr. Becky Kennedy shares her insights here!Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1163What We Discuss with Dr. Becky Kennedy:Boundaries are what parents tell kids they will do — not what kids must do. "If you're not off the couch by the time I get there, I'll pick you up" works better than threats or punishments that require kid compliance.Optimizing for happiness in childhood creates fragility in adulthood. Kids who avoid hard feelings never learn they can handle disappointment, jealousy, or failure — leaving them with a narrow range of emotions they feel capable managing.Parents have two jobs: setting boundaries and validating emotions. These aren't opposites — they work together. Set the limit, then acknowledge their feelings: "You really wish you could keep jumping on the couch.""Do nothing" is often the best parenting strategy. It's mindful restraint — choosing not to react in the moment when kids are upset. This prevents escalation and models emotional regulation better than immediate correction.Build confidence by letting kids struggle through puzzles, conflicts, and challenges. Tell them: "The best feeling is when you think you can't do something, then watch yourself make progress." Struggle builds capability. And much more...And if you're game to support us, please leave a review here — even one sentence helps!
