Because it did. October 25, 2023 was just an ordinary night in Lewiston, a small, working class city of 37,000 in central Maine. Friends and families had gathered to do what they loved to do with the people they wanted to be with at a bowling alley called Just-in-Time Recreation Center and Schemengees, a popular sports bar and restaurant. They felt immune from the violent crime that seemed to wrack the rest of the country in a state that the FBI had just named the safest in America. Then Robert Card II, a deeply paranoid Army Reserve soldier, walked into both places with a high-powered rifle and opened fire, killing 18 people and wounding 13 more. He then fled to a third location, where according to the evidence and the testimony of his best friend, he likely planned to lay in wait and kill his ex-co-workers when they came to work the next morning. The tragedy is that the numerous red flags he had raised in the months before weren't enough to stop him before he carried out his terrible plan. A combination of watered-down gun control laws and law enforcement and military negligence made sure of that. Gabriel Wortman was a 51-year-old Denturist with a successful practice where he worked with his common-law partner. They were staying in the tiny seaside community of Portapique, Nova Scotia, Canada.The Coronavirus pandemic had been declared by the World Health Organization and with the resulting personal restrictions Wortman was not allowed to work. He felt it necessary to stockpile food, firearms and $800 dollars in gasoline. He also decided to transfer money from his bank account to a Brink's facility. On March 30th, 2020 he took out 475,000 in cash.Gabriel Wortman in his graduating high school yearbook wrote, "That his future may include being a RCMP officer." One of his hobbies was restoring RCMP police cars he had bought at auctions. He had purchased 4 former police cars and bought roof lights and siren for one of the cars through an on-line auction and he and his friends installed it. He had an official looking RCMP police decal created by his neighbour and drinking buddy Peter Alan Griffon, who in 2017 was convicted of cocaine trafficking and weapons charges, linking him with the La Familia drug cartel in Mexico. Wortman even managed to acquire an official RCMP uniform. Tim McLean left Edmonton at 12 a.m. on July 30, 2008, on board a Greyhound Bus, destined for Winnipeg. At 7 p.m. the bus left one of the scheduled stops with a new passenger, Vincent Weiguang Li. Li, a tall man, with shaved head and sunglasses, sat near the front of the bus but moved next to McLean following a scheduled rest stop. McLean proceeded to fall asleep with his headphones on. Suddenly there was a blood-curdling scream and Li was standing over McLean stabbing him repeatedly in the neck with a huge knife. McLean struggled and tried to escape but couldn't as Li was blocking the aisle. The bus driver pulled to the side of the road as screaming, panicked passengers fled the bus. The driver and two other men tried to rescue McLean but were chased away by Li, who slashed wildly at them from behind the locked bus doors. Li then decapitated McLean and displayed his severed head to passengers outside. Li began severing body parts and eating McLean's flesh. By 9 p.m. Police were in a stand-off with Li, who taunted police, continuing cannibalizing and defiling the corpse. At 1:30 a.m. Li tried to escape out a window and was tasered and arrested. Body parts of the victim were found in plastic bags on the bus while one ear, the nose and the tongue were found in Li's pockets. McLean's eyes and part of his heart were missing.  Li, his face bloody, pleaded with officers, "I'm sorry. I'm guilty. Please kill me!"In March 2009 Vincent Li was found Not Criminally Responsible for the gruesome murder of Tim McLean in 2008. In May 2015 Vincent Li was released from custody from the Selkirk Mental Health Centre and is now a free man living in a group home. THE GREYHOUND BUS CANNIBAL KILLER-The Definition of Insanity-Dan Zupansky 

In 2003, he began to appear in gay ographic movies, occasionally working as a dancer and escort. In 2005 he appeared as a pin-up model in an issue of Toronto's Fab magazine. In 2007, he was an unsuccessful competitor in a reality series CoverGuy and underwent numerous cosmetic surgeries, auditioning for a reality show Plastic Makes Perfect 2 in 2008 and set up at least 70 Facebook pages and 20 websites under various aliases. On May 25, 2012, an 11-minute video titled 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick was uploaded to a gore site, depicting a naked male tied to a bed frame being repeatedly stabbed with an ice pick and a knife, then dismembered, followed by acts of necrophilia and cannibalism. The perpetrator uses a knife and fork to cut off some of the flesh and gets a dog to chew on the body. On May 29, a janitor discovered the decomposing torso of Chinese foreign student Lin Jun inside a suitcase, in the alley behind an apartment building in Montreal. A package containing a foot was delivered to the national headquarters of the Conservative party, another containing a hand was addressed to the Liberal party. Packages containing severed limbs were later sent to elementary schools. Magnotta fled Canada, becoming the subject of an Interpol Red Notice and prompting an international manhunt. He was apprehended June 4, at an Internet cafe in Berlin reading news about himself. Materials promoting the video appeared online 10 days before the murder. The high profile trial in Montreal lasted 10 weeks. Luka Rocco Magnotta pleaded Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity. First Degree Murder or Insanity? This is one of the most under-reported murders in the history of the North American Continent. A mutilation that took hours and mind that was so disturbed it relished in the extreme violence inflicted on the deceased, this story exposes the obvious deficiencies in the extremely Liberal Canadian justice system, which even many natives don't even fully understand. July 1st, 2003 and the Miramax movie Shall We Dance starring Jennifer Lopez, Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon was being filmed in Winnipeg. Police were called when Susan Sarandon reported her gold necklace and other jewelry stolen from the movie set. On July 2nd, Sydney Teerhuis calmly walked into a police station to report waking from a drunken blackout to find a man he had met the day before-dead in the bathtub. Police escorted Teerhuis to his rented hotel room and in the bathtub they found the victim decapitated, the body sawn in half. He had been chopped into 8 separate pieces. He was posed crudely reassembled-A few feet away from the horror spectacle police found Susan Sarandon’s stolen gold necklace.
