In today's episode, Gina provides comfort for listeners who are afraid they may be going crazy. The essential message is that much more likely than not, you are not going crazy, and there are many things you can do to help yourself feel better, more calm, peaceful and stable. Intrusive thoughts, depersonalization and derealization are all covered in this episode, as are brain fog, racing thoughts and hyperawareness. Listen in and find more peace and calm even in the face of the most disturbing symptoms.Stillpoint Fridays is my once-a-week Friday note — a slower, more personal reflection that's different from what I share on the podcast. If you'd like a quiet place to land as the week winds down, you can join here: http://eepurl.com/bR2F9P or on our website anxietycoachespodcast.com and sign up for the newsletter. Please visit our Sponsor Page to find all the links and codes for our awesome sponsors! https://www.theanxietycoachespodcast.com/sponsors/Website https://www.theanxietycoachespodcast.comJoin our community Group Coaching Join our Group Coaching Full or Mini Membership Program1:1 Coaching Learn more about our One-on-One CoachingIf you prefer to listen AD-FREE, try our Supercast premium access membership:Learn more about anxiety What is anxiety?Free Guided Meditation for Calming Your Anxious Mind 10-Minute Body-Scan Meditation for AnxietyQuote:Nothing in life is to be feared; it is only to be understood.-Marie Curie Chapters0:27 Going Crazy or Anxiety?5:41 The Second Fear Loop9:37 Intrusive Thoughts and Derealization11:32 What To Do Now14:35 Know When to Get Help16:57 Live Beyond AnxietySummaryn this episode we revisit the question “Am I going crazy?” and talk about how it often comes up when anxiety makes thoughts, sensations, or the surrounding world feel unfamiliar. We look at experiences such as intrusive thoughts, derealization, depersonalization, brain fog, racing thoughts, and hyperawareness, and how these can lead to fear that something is seriously wrong. We explain how anxiety can create a cycle in which a strange feeling leads to checking, the checking increases attention, and the increased attention makes the feeling seem even more intense. We also describe the difference between the first experience, such as feeling disconnected or having a disturbing thought, and the second fear, such as interpreting it as proof that we are losing control. We talk about intrusive thoughts and note that having a thought is not the same as wanting it, believing it, or acting on it. We also discuss derealization and depersonalization, and how repeatedly checking whether things feel normal can keep us focused on the discomfort instead of moving through the moment. We offer several ways to respond: naming the experience without dramatizing it, not making “feeling normal” the main goal, returning attention to ordinary activities, softening physical tension, and letting sensations come and go without demanding certainty. We also note that new, severe, or confusing symptoms, including hallucinations or an inability to function, should be brought to a qualified professional. We close by emphasizing that we can feel strange without being in danger, have frightening thoughts without needing to answer them, and keep living while anxiety passes.#AnxietyCoachesPodcast #GinaRyan #AmIGoingCrazy #AnxietySupport #IntrusiveThoughts #Derealization #Depersonalization #AnxietyCycle #Overthinking #Hyperawareness #NervousSystem #Mindfulness #AcceptanceAndCommitment #ClaireWeekes #MentalHealthAwareness #PanicAttackHelp #GroundingTechniques #AnxietyRecovery #EmotionalWellbeing #SelfCare #MentalHealthMatters #AnxietyRelief #OvercomingAnxiety #BrainFog #SecondFear #InnerCalm #Aloha #ACPSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

OB450: Pilot MATH Released to show supporters on 8/19/2026 Public release scheduled for 9/2/2026 ✈️ 450 episodes. Nearly 10 years. Not a single week missed. Opposing Bases has always been built a little differently. No traditional ads, no corporate network — just two aviation nerds talking about flying, controlling, and the National Airspace System every single week. The reason we've been able to keep doing it is simple: the listeners who support the show.
Send us a text!Five years after first releasing our conversation with Existential Kink author Carolyn Elliott, we return to Episode 40 in memory of a guest whose warmth, wit, and ideas have stayed with us.We begin with a new introduction reflecting on the early days of Mormons on Mushrooms, the generosity Carolyn brought to this conversation, and how our relationship with shadow work has evolved. Mike questions the temptation to use the unconscious for egoic gains and wonders whether we can approach our patterns with more curiosity and less relentless digging. Doug explores his own attraction to secrecy. Then we revisit our original conversation with Carolyn about existential kink: the unconscious pleasure hidden inside rejection, scarcity, humiliation, frustration, and other experiences we consciously claim not to want. We explore the “good boy” conditioning of Mormonism, Doug's missionary rejection kink, Mike's encounter with the angry and instinctual parts beneath his Mormon niceness, and the difference between acknowledging a desire and acting it out.The conversation expands into psychedelics, religious repression, collective shadow, racism, good and evil, compassion, and what it might mean to love the parts of ourselves we would rather pretend do not exist.Carolyn was delightful, provocative, generous, and completely herself. We're grateful we had the chance to speak with her—and deeply sad that we never got to take her up on that invitation to trip together.Topics include:Remembering Carolyn ElliottExistential kink and Jungian shadow workThe unconscious pleasure inside recurring patternsMormon repression and “good boy” conditioningRejection, secrecy, confession, and shameWhen shadow work becomes another form of self-punishmentCuriosity versus endlessly digging for woundsPsychedelics and plant medicineCollective shadow, racism, and inherited patternsHolding compassion for the parts of ourselves that frighten usNote: The original interview is presented as it was recorded. References to Carolyn's programs, contact information, and upcoming events reflect the time of the original publication.Content note: This episode contains a brief disclosure of childhood sexual abuse, along with discussion of psychedelics, addiction, sexual themes, and strong language.Want more? You know that feeling when you try so hard to seem normal that you become a weirdo? Self-improvement works the exact same way. The more you chase happiness, the further it runs. The more validation you seek, the emptier you feel. This episode breaks down 7 painful paradoxes when we take on personal growth — psychological traps where trying harder makes things worse. We dig into King George VI's stutter, Carl Jung's shadow work, and why Steve Jobs getting fired was the best thing that happened to him. You'll learn why over-planning destroys resilience, why self-help books can quietly wreck your confidence, and why real change happens slower, yet more easily, than you think. Takeaways: Stop directly chasing happiness. Let it arrive as a byproduct of living with purpose. Build self-worth internally. External validation is a leaky bucket you can never fill. Accept your flaws before fixing them. Rejection breeds resistance, not change. CTA: Press play and learn why the hardest part of growth is knowing when to stop trying so hard. In this episode Gina offers listeners a series of questions they can ask themselves and suggestions they can implement during their experience of the discomfort associated with anxiety and panic.Turning to face the discomfort we are presented with during high anxiety moments can offer us the opportunity we are seeking to overcome the discomfort.Questions to ask oneself:What if there were more beyond that? What if distracting was keeping us in the loop and holding us back from the joy in life? What if chasing the desire to make the discomfort stop is actually keeping the pain and discomfort alive? What if the joy was in going through vs giving in to distraction and running away from discomfort? What if what we are looking for is in the opening of moving through the discomfort of what we think should be different than it is?Suggestions to implement:1.Slow down2.Get to neutral and be curious about the situation (take the personalization out of it ...look at it as if you were a researcher without an agenda)3.Remind yourself why you want to get to the other side of this situation and that it is joy that is found from going through the urge to fight flee or freeze when it is discomfort that you are dealing with not true danger.Stillpoint Fridays is my once-a-week Friday note — a slower, more personal reflection that's different from what I share on the podcast. If you'd like a quiet place to land as the week winds down, you can join here: http://eepurl.com/bR2F9P or on our website anxietycoachespodcast.com and sign up for the newsletter. Please visit our Sponsor Page to find all the links and codes for our awesome sponsors! https://www.theanxietycoachespodcast.com/sponsors/Website https://www.theanxietycoachespodcast.comJoin our community Group Coaching Join our Group Coaching Full or Mini Membership Program1:1 Coaching Learn more about our One-on-One CoachingIf you prefer to listen AD-FREE, try our Supercast premium access membership:Learn more about anxiety What is anxiety?Free Guided Meditation for Calming Your Anxious Mind 10-Minute Body-Scan Meditation for AnxietyQuote:A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor. -Franklin D. We also note that people do not need a diagnosis to benefit from the discussion, since we all experience stress and discomfort in life.We focus on the idea of finding joy beyond discomfort. We repeat that discomfort is not dangerous, and we discuss the importance of letting that understanding move beyond logic and into the body. We explore the idea that distraction can keep us stuck in anxiety cycles, while going through the feeling can lead to freedom, peace, and joy.We distinguish between smaller fears that are easier to avoid and larger life events that cannot be avoided, such as loss, accident, or ending. We suggest experimenting with the smaller situations by choosing the opposite of the usual avoidance response and approaching them with curiosity and a sense of adventure. We then offer three practical suggestions: slow down, get to neutral and stay curious, and remind ourselves why we want to move through the situation. We emphasize noticing when we have gone back to old patterns without judgment, resetting, and trying again. We close by returning to the main questions about what lies beyond discomfort and how moving through it can open the way to what we are looking for.#Anxiety #AnxietyRelief #PanicAttacks #MentalHealth #EmotionalWellness #FindingJoy #Discomfort #CopingMechanisms #SelfImprovement #PersonalGrowth #Mindfulness #JournalPrompts #SelfCare #StressManagement #Vulnerability #OvercomingFear #MindsetShift #HealingJourney #SelfAwareness #Resilience #Podcast #AnxietyCoachesPodcast #Episode400 #Milestone #4MillionDownloads #Gratitude #CommunitySupport #Awareness #Presence #Acceptance #FeelYourFeelings #EmotionalRegulation #InnerStrength #PersonalTransformation #MentalClarity #SlowDown #BeCurious #NonJudgment #EmotionalFreedom #LifeLessons #Quotes #FranklinDRoosevelt #Aloha #Peace #WellBeing #MentalHealthAwareness #StressRelief #SelfReflection #Journaling #SelfDiscovery #GinaRyanSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

I veckans avsnitt av ”Så in i Själen”, möter ni Hanna Sachiko. *Note: there are unmuted curse words in today's episode* Today, I sit down with Baylen Dupree for a conversation about Tourette syndrome, neurodivergence, and what good communication actually looks like when someone experiences the world differently than you do. Baylen opens up about the things people often misunderstand about Tourette's, the communication challenges she's had to navigate in relationships and everyday life, and what she wishes more people understood about interacting with someone who is neurodivergent. We also talk about conflict, overstimulation, speaking up for what you need, and how the people closest to you can learn to communicate with you better. This is a conversation about understanding people beyond what you see on the surface—and becoming a more thoughtful communicator in the process. What if the thing you're avoiding is exactly what you should pursue? Jack Cai broke three world records solving Rubik's Cubes blindfolded, for teh same reason America suppsoedly went to the moon. "Not because it is easy, but because it is hard" This episode explores the mindset shift that happens when you stop asking "How can I make this easier?" and start asking "What's so hard that almost no one else is doing it?" Jack shares his five-year journey from curiosity to world record, the habit systems that made elite performance possible, and the surprising question that emerged after he achieved his goal: now what? We discuss deliberate practice, the introvert's edge in mastery, and why the hardest problems often offer the best opportunities for people willing to embrace discomfort. Reframe difficulty as a competitive advantage, not a barrier Build systems that make extraordinary performance automatic over time After winning, redefine success on your own terms The remarkable life isn't found in avoiding hard things—it's found in seeking them deliberately. Bomani Jones is joined by Jason England for the fourth and final episode of a historical retrospective series looking back at Colin Kaepernick, a decade after his initial protest. In this episode, Bo and Jason wrap up the discussion by exploring whether Kaepernick's action sparked a lasting movement or was simply a moment in time. They reflect on the public silence Kaepernick maintained after 2017 and question how it impacted his role as a public figure and a symbol of resistance. The duo delves into the role of social media in modern activism, detailing how corporate co-optation, hollow platitudes, and performative "slacktivism" diluted the energy of the post-George Floyd and post-Kaepernick era. They trace how sports media shifted back to a narrow focus on the games, effectively squeezing out the general sports columnists and voices trying to enforce moral clarity. Ultimately, Bo and Jason evaluate the fading public interest in Kaepernick, the rise of a reactionary societal backlash, and the complex, ongoing struggle defining athlete activism a decade later . . . Looking for a relaxing sleep podcast with calm conversation to help you unwind or drift toward sleep? We're currently on hiatus, but with the recent passing of the legendary Dolly Parton, we wanted to re-air this gentle, appreciative conversation about her life and legacy — not with sadness, but with gratitude for everything she gave us. In this episode of The Insomnia Project, Marco welcomes special guest Shannon McDonough, a devoted Dolly fan, for a warm look back at a true icon.Dolly once said, "Find out who you are and do it on purpose," and that spirit runs through this whole conversation. Marco and Shannon share stories, reflections, and favourite moments connected to Dolly's remarkable career, exploring what made her such a beloved figure in music and popular culture. Along the way, they also discover a few things they have in common — from their shared enjoyment of medical dramas to Christmas plays — the discussion meanders through the kinds of small, curious topics that listeners of The Insomnia Project have come to love. As Dolly herself put it, "Leave something good in every day," and this episode was full of that kind of good.Even with such a bright star as the topic, the conversation remains calm, cozy, and pleasantly low-stakes — perfect for listeners looking for a sleep podcast, relaxing background conversation, or a gentle way to remember someone whose kindness reached everyone. What we talk about:Dolly Parton's career and cultural impactFavourite Dolly memories and momentsWhat made Dolly so universally belovedShared love of medical dramasChristmas plays and nostalgic small-topic tangentsThe kind of quiet gratitude that comes with remembering someone greatThis episode is perfect for: Dolly Parton fans, sleep podcast listeners, relaxing background conversation, calm bedtime routines, gentle wind-down conversation, tribute episodes, cozy nostalgic chatsAnd if you don't make it to the end because you fall asleep, well… you've paid us the biggest compliment.

Bomani Jones is joined by Howard Bryant for the third episode of a historical retrospective series looking back at Colin Kaepernick, a decade after his initial protest. In this episode, Bo and Howard focus the conversation on the timeline starting in 2017 and how the aftermath of the protest impacted Kaepernick's career. They reflect on the reality of league collusion as Kaepernick remained without a job despite proving he was a capable NFL quarterback. They trace how secondary narratives formed to critique his play, while the backdrop of Donald Trump's presidency drastically shifted the national conversation. The duo breaks down the response from other athletes, the formation of the Players Coalition, and how the NFL ultimately co-opted the protest with social justice initiatives. They relive the chaotic events of November 2019 surrounding Kaepernick's scheduled NFL workout in Atlanta, which resulted in an impromptu relocation to a local high school. Ultimately, Bo and Howard evaluate the immense power of the opposition that mobilized to crush athlete activism and the lasting legacy of a quarterback who forced a national conversation on race and labor. . . . Today, Coach Gina takes a look at how we drop into isolation and how it can work against us as we move through the phases of clearing anxiety-panic.Today's tip for making progress is to go on a weekly adventure: museum, zoo, train ride, etc, over time you can go to bigger things (such as a concert). A part time job, a church, a hobby, all could be useful.Stillpoint Fridays is my once-a-week Friday note — a slower, more personal reflection that's different from what I share on the podcast. If you'd like a quiet place to land as the week winds down, you can join here: http://eepurl.com/bR2F9P or on our website anxietycoachespodcast.com and sign up for the newsletter. Please visit our Sponsor Page to find all the links and codes for our awesome sponsors! https://www.theanxietycoachespodcast.com/sponsors/Website https://www.theanxietycoachespodcast.comJoin our community Group Coaching Join our Group Coaching Full or Mini Membership Program1:1 Coaching Learn more about our One-on-One CoachingIf you prefer to listen AD-FREE, try our Supercast premium access membership:Learn more about anxiety What is anxiety?Free Guided Meditation for Calming Your Anxious Mind 10-Minute Body-Scan Meditation for AnxietyQuote:It is true that we are called to create a better world. We look at how easy it is to become more isolated over time, especially when stress, depression, trauma, or exhaustion lead us to withdraw. We discuss using the internet and daily routines more intentionally, including checking what groups, news, and media we spend time with. Rather than retreating further, we encourage small steps toward connection and activity, while recognizing that some people are more introverted and need solitude to recharge. We also focus on moving out of isolation slowly and mindfully. We suggest starting with very small goals, such as moving around the house, going to the porch, mailbox, driveway, or nearby street, and then expanding gradually. If a step feels too big or triggers anxiety, we talk about treating it as a sign to slow down rather than as failure. The episode extends this approach to other parts of life, including news, entertainment, music, and shopping. We suggest choosing calmer news sources, gentler shows, peaceful music, and using places like the grocery store as practice spaces for gradual exposure. We also encourage sitting with uncomfortable sensations, reminding ourselves that they are not dangerous, and planning small enjoyable outings with no pressure or goal beyond doing them.#AnxietyRecovery #MentalHealthSupport #ExposureTherapy #AnxietyRelief #GentleHealing #SmallSteps #OvercomingIsolation #SelfCompassion #MindfulnessForAnxiety #EmotionalWellness #AnxietyCoachesPodcast #SelfCareJourney #StressManagement #CourageOverFear #MentalHealthAwareness #InnerPeace #BuildingResilience #SelfTrust #PacingYourself #AnxietyManagement #MindfulLiving #CalmingTools #OvercomingFear #EmotionalSafety #MentalWellbeing #HealingPath #AnxietyHelp #IsolationRecovery #AnxietyCommunity #HealingIsALearningProcess #GinaRyan #ACPSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Send us a text!Six years, six seasons, and one slightly delayed anniversary later—we're back, baby. After a summer filled with concerts, funerals, psychedelics, work transitions, travel plans, and an unreasonable number of DoorDash bananas, we catch up on everything that's happened during the break.Mike reflects on losing his job after sixteen years, finishing his dissertation proposal, and the strange polarity between newfound freedom and panic about what comes next. We also revisit the tribute concert for Kevin, remember Carolyn Elliott and the lasting impact of Existential Kink, and unpack a psychedelic journey that briefly descended into madness—and may have opened something in Mike's voice before nearly destroying it.Doug opens up about the unexpected death of his soulmate dog, Ozzie Bear, and the grief that followed. His dad offers one of the most beautiful lessons of the episode: “We share our grief with our loved ones so that they can help us carry it.”Finally, we return to our roots with a conversation about Mormonism: friends leaving the Church fourteen years after we did, institutional changes that feel more operational than prophetic, leadership roulette, the contradictions of personal revelation, and the absence of a clear moral voice in a moment that desperately needs one.Season seven begins exactly where it should: somewhere between grief and laughter, Mormonism and mushrooms, madness and meaning.Topics include:Remembering Carolyn ElliottKevin's tribute concert and the healing power of musicPsychedelic madness, ritual containers, and integrationLayoffs, freedom, fear, and life outside the cageWorld Cup withdrawals and Wrexham time-zone confusionGrieving Ozzie Bear and refusing to gatekeep griefWhy more longtime Mormons may be leavingOperational revelation, prophetic silence, and the Church as a businessContent note: This episode includes discussion of death, pet loss, psychedelics, and strong language.Want more? We've been sold a myth: that mental toughness means gritting your teeth and pushing through, disregarding their emotions entirely. The people who actually build lasting resilience do something different. They get honest with what they feel and investigate it. They notice when their mind drifts into yesterday's mistake or tomorrow's fear, understanding why helps them choose the present instead. They learn to tell the difference between what they want right now and what they actually value and focus on what matters to them. Practice radical honesty with your own feelings, not just others' Catch and interrupt patterns of rumination or future-worry Choose your long-term values over your short-term impulse, deliberately Change how you relate to your mind, and everything else starts to shift. In today's episode, Gina concludes her series on Claire Weekes' anxiety clearing process with reflections on what Dr. Weekes may have thought about the role of social media for people suffering with anxiety. The internet has held many benefits for people with anxiety, including learning about others who have a similar experience and how to remedy these aversive symptoms. It is quite clear the internet and social media can exacerbate anxiety substantially, as well. Listen in for advice on how to take the good and leave the bad with the internet and social media, as well as thoughts on what Claire Weekes might say about our situation today.Stillpoint Fridays is my once-a-week Friday note — a slower, more personal reflection that's different from what I share on the podcast. If you'd like a quiet place to land as the week winds down, you can join here: http://eepurl.com/bR2F9P or on our website anxietycoachespodcast.com and sign up for the newsletter. Please visit our Sponsor Page to find all the links and codes for our awesome sponsors! https://www.theanxietycoachespodcast.com/sponsors/Website https://www.theanxietycoachespodcast.comJoin our community Group Coaching Join our Group Coaching Full or Mini Membership Program1:1 Coaching Learn more about our One-on-One CoachingIf you prefer to listen AD-FREE, try our Supercast premium access membership:Learn more about anxiety What is anxiety?Free Guided Meditation for Calming Your Anxious Mind 10-Minute Body-Scan Meditation for AnxietyQuote:Let time pass.-Claire WeekesChapters0:27 Final Claire Weeks Insights2:35 Social Media and Anxiety6:27 Comparing Recoveries Online10:02 Doomscrolling and Symptom Checks11:59 Recovery Influencers Trap15:10 Back to Simplicity18:34 Don't Perform Recovery20:16 Recovery Means LivingSummaryIn this final episode of the 12-part Claire Weeks series, we revisit her ideas through a modern lens and define her term “nervous fatigue” as the exhaustion that comes from prolonged fear and tension. We also reflect on how her approach would apply to today's online anxiety culture, while noting that this is speculative. We discuss how the internet can be helpful for people with anxiety by reducing shame, offering community, and pointing listeners to useful resources. At the same time, we consider how searching, scrolling, and constant reassurance-seeking can become part of the anxiety cycle by teaching the brain that discomfort must be answered immediately. We look at how comparing our recovery to other people's online stories can create pressure and a sense of falling behind. We also talk about doom scrolling, symptom videos, and recovery accounts, and how repeated attention to symptoms and danger can intensify fear and keep the nervous system on alert. The episode closes by reviewing the main ideas from the series: sensitized nerves, first fear and second fear, acceptance, floating, letting time pass, and reducing symptom monitoring and reassurance seeking. The central message is to simplify, return attention to ordinary life, and avoid turning recovery into another performance.#Anxiety #AnxietyRecovery #ClaireWeeks #DrClaireWeeks #MentalHealth #AnxietyRelief #PanicAttacks #NervousFatigue #Burnout #StressRelief #HealthAnxiety #OvercomingAnxiety #Mindfulness #MentalHealthAwareness #SocialMediaDetox #Doomscrolling #InnerPeace #SelfCare #MentalWellness #SelfHealing #AnxietySupport #NervousSystem #AnxietyManagement #StressManagement #AnxietyCoachesPodcast #GinaRyan #Aloha #HealingJourney #MentalHealthMatters #FindYourCalm #ACPSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

What makes someone actually ready for a healthy relationship? In this episode, I sit down with relationship expert Quinlan Walther to talk about the communication habits that create connection—and the ones that quietly destroy it. We get into vulnerability, emotional maturity, asking for what you need instead of expecting someone to read your mind, and why curiosity may be one of the most attractive qualities you can bring into a relationship. We also talk about what happens when you're the only person trying to fix the relationship, and how to recognize when you're sacrificing your self-respect just to keep someone around. Part One of Two Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell break down everything that happened at Alex Murdaugh's most recent hearing.Team Murdaugh came to Friday's retrial hearing armed with a "bombshell" that turned out to be a dud… a rumor from fitsnews claiming Murdaugh murder weapons were tied to a recent Allendale County killing. However, no article existed, prosecutor Creighton Waters had never heard of it, and SLED debunked the claim within minutes.Mandy and Liz break down how the fumble unraveled in real time — and why so much of the media ran with it anyway. Then there's the venue circus: Dick Harpootlian putting his own associate on the stand to testify about budget hotels and Cracker Barrel commutes, insisting on Charleston-only... before pivoting to Richland County in a Monday letter to Judge McCaslin. Plus, the ruling that matters most: Alex's sworn testimony from the first trial — the lies, the kennel video admission, all of it — is allowed into the record in Murdaugh 2.0. Testifying has consequences. So does lying about where you were when your family was murdered.Vote for Laura Richards and Mandy Matney's SXSW Panel!Let's Dive In…
Bomani Jones is joined by Jason Goff for the second episode of a historical retrospective series looking back at Colin Kaepernick, a decade after his initial protest. In this episode, Bo and Jason focus the conversation on the pivotal year of 2016 and how the sports community and sports media were caught off guard by the live TV moment. They reflect on where they were when the story broke and trace the gradual building of social justice discussions around police violence leading up to Kaepernick's protest. The duo breaks down the initial weeks of the protest, the quote that defined his stance, and his eventual transition from sitting to kneeling. They relive the media's reaction to his protest, including the public's defense of their right to remain ambivalent. Ultimately, Bo and Jason evaluate Kaepernick's standing as a starting-caliber signal-caller who won in the playoffs, the reality of league collusion, and the lasting legacy of a quarterback who forced a national conversation . . . Bomani Jones is joined by Charles McDonald to kick off a historical retrospective series looking back at Colin Kaepernick, a decade after his initial protest. In this episode, Bo and Charles refocus the conversation on a frequently forgotten element: just how good of a football player Kaepernick truly was. They trace his trajectory from his breakout college days at Nevada running the pistol offense to being drafted by the San Francisco 49ers.123The duo breaks down Jim Harbaugh's high-stakes mid-season decision to replace Alex Smith with Kaepernick, a move that instantly raised the team's ceiling and altered the strategic landscape of the NFL. They relive the historic, record-setting playoff game against the Green Bay Packers and explore the widespread proliferation of the zone read option across the league. Bo and Charles also analyze the subsequent challenges, front-office tension, coaching changes, and roster downgrades that defined the later years of his career. Ultimately, they evaluate his final seasons under Chip Kelly, his standing as a clear starting-caliber signal-caller, and his lasting legacy as a historically significant figure in modern football history . . .
