It's week two of our inadvertent two-week celebration of the post-apocalypse on film. In this no-holds-barred episode, Shipwreck unpacks the chaos surrounding Trump's Big Beautiful Bill, sharing skepticism over its AI provisions and the endless culture war it fuels. She dives into viral claims that migrants are being dumped into the ocean from cargo planes, a conspiracy she methodically dismantles while pointing out the absurdity of the rumor mill. From the real story behind “Alligator Alcatraz,” Florida's new migrant facility, to Kristi Noem's claim that a deportee started eating himself mid-flight, the episode is equal parts darkly hilarious and unsettling. Shipwreck also tackles the meltdown over Nancy Mace livestreaming in her pajamas, her personal burnout with performative compassion, and why defending bad behavior “on your own side” only feeds the cult mentality. Ranting about DUIs, predators using trans activism as cover, and the collapse of basic decency online, she ends by reflecting on whether humanity is even worth saving. With tangents about Kathy Griffin looking like Pennywise, the sewage pouring across the southern border, and the illusion of positive social media, this is Shipwreck at her raw, unscripted best.

Welcome to the mind of Jamestown — raw, raging, and real. In episode 4002, we cover everything: plant pain, AI mind control, digital game development, family cannibal legends, Unity dev with Uncle Will, and why magnets might just be the secret to everything. It's also a tribute to Memaw's $10 million hospital case, Emily Blunt gloves, and that one landscaping boss who freaked everyone the hell out. Add in some spiritual downloads from the underworld, Chuck E. Cheese economics, and an unexpected ode to Tristan Tate — and you've got one hell of an episode. Jamestown. Your favorite podcast. Gus T. Renegade returns as a credentialed journalist to the 51st annual Seattle International Film Festival. Friday was the first official day of the event, and Gus kicked off the fancy television viewing with 3 feature length films and one collection of shorts. All of the films Gus reviewed were directly connected to the Global System of White Supremacy. Neely Fuller Jr.'s native land of Muskogee, Oklahoma was mentioned during the discussing of the documentary film, DROWNED LAND, which examines the history of White Supremacy against Choctaw "indians" and how Whites polluted most of natural waters in Oklahoma. This film included a snippet about the Choctaw owning black slaves in Greenwood, Mississippi, and these "red" people took their black property with them to Oklahoma on the "Trail of Tears." Gus engaged in a fascinating exchange about this anti-black history with Choctaw filmmaker Colleen Thurston. Prior to this constructive film and exchange, Gus was forced to endure the contempt for gender in the short film "Saturn Risin9," which features an "LGBTQ" black person with bleached eyebrows who was likely classified as a male at birth. He does mention Racism as a problem well after he identifies as "queer." Gus also saw Danielle Deadwyler star in the Canadian science fiction thriller 40 ACRES, which imagines a future where black and non-white people are under assault from Racist(?) cannibals. From the early days of the Christian faith, Christians were mocked for their unusual practice of connecting the eating of bread and wine with the body and blood of Jesus. At times they were even accused of cannibalism! And yet, two thousand years later nearly every Christian church continues this remarkable practice in some form. Why did Jesus institute this sacrament and what should it mean to us today? ------ We're so glad you joined us for Ask Away. If you have a question that needs answering, we'd love to hear it. In this episode of Native Circles, Dr. Farina King, co-editor of COVID-19 in Indian Country, talks with co-authors Dr. Amoneeta Beckstein and Dr. Tapati Dutta about their chapter, exploring the lived experiences of eight Native American college students during the pandemic. Drawing from semi-structured interviews, the chapter centers the students' voices as they navigate the challenges of COVID-19—illuminating themes of historical trauma, mental health struggles, and educational disruptions rooted in colonial legacies. Yet, amid these hardships, stories of resilience or "reziliency," cultural strength, and community support arise. In this conversation, the authors reflect on their perspectives as researchers and underscore the students' expressions of survivance, collectivistic coping, and cultural healing.Dr. Beckstein is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Fort Lewis College whose work focuses on multicultural counseling, mindfulness, and decolonizing psychology to promote healing for BIPOC and Indigenous communities. He previously directed the Counseling Center at Webster University Thailand and brings a creative approach to mental health, including poetry and advocacy. Dr. Dutta is an Assistant Professor of Public Health at Fort Lewis College with over 25 years of experience in global health, focusing on health disparities and community-based interventions for marginalized populations. She is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist and a TEDx speaker recognized for her work in HIV prevention and compassionate public health education.Resources:Amoneeta Beckstein and Tapati Dutta, "Lived Experiences of Native American College Students During the COVID-19 Pandemic," in COVID-19 in Indian Country: Native American Memories and Experiences of the Pandemic, eds. Back by popular demand, or maybe just because she has nothing better to do, our first special guest star, Emma, is back to help us review a movie about some of her favorite things: Cannibals, Carpet installers, and Brits. A quick check in with the weekend of hockey/kids activities, and we're off to the movie. Cannibals & Carpet-fitters: A family of weirdo cannibals hires a team of carpet-fitters to cover up their beautiful hardwood floors. But, that's just a ruse. They really just want to kill the crews, eat parts of them, and sell other meat for profit. This plan seems kinda dumb, though, because the carpet business owner would presumably know that the crews went out for this job and didn't return. People get killed. Some people may or may not get killed. Cliffhanger, baby. Cannibals & Carpet-fitters final grade: Steve: A clever storyline and a movie trope we haven't watched yet. Funny in parts, well shot, 3.95/5.0 Brandon: Right up with there with all the other movies we've watched from the British Isles. Probably something that is in the "less well-known movie" category because it was made somewhere outside the US. 3.946/5.0 Emma: A fine movie for what it was. Much better than Ahockalypse. It was actually "half-interesting sometimes." 4.0/5.0 Cocktail of the Week: Sticky Carpet 1 1/2 Gin oz Unsweetened Cherry Juice, "the expensive shit" 1/2 oz Orange Liqueur 1/6 oz Fresh-Squeezed Lemon Juice Sparkling Water or Club Soda Combine all non-fizzy ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Shake to chill and combine, then strain into a rocks glass over ice. Top with sparkling water. Garnish with lime wedge/slice and cherries. To turn it into a MOCKtail, leave out the gin and replace it with two ounces of orange juice. Cocktail Grade: Pretty bland, looks and tastes like you're drinking a glass of sparkling water. Don't bother with this one. Adding a little more orange liqueur did give it some flavor, at least. 2.0/5.0 Mocktail Grade: Same as the mixed drink. Doesn't taste like anything. Skip it. 2.0/5.0 ------------------ Contact us with feedback or cocktail/movie recommendations to: boozeandbmovies@gmail.com X: @boozeandbmovies Instagram: @boozeandbmovies Threads: @boozeandbmovies www.facebook.com/boozeandbmovies

Eileen Budd is a professional storyteller, the host of the Scottish Folk podcast, and an artist & author in Angus, Scotland. After a Halloween reading about skull broth, Eileen describes where she lives in Scotland and the floods they experienced in last year's Storm Babet. Talk of weather and storms brings up the Gaelic mother goddess, the Cailleach. From these ancestral stories comes a conversation about the diaspora of Scottish people to America aboard "coffin ships" and the suppression of their culture. Turning to the macabre mood of Halloween, we hear of folkloric and historic cannibals, Sawney Bean & the 15th-century butcher, Christie Cleek. Eileen describes what Samhain is - the time-of-the-year when traditional folk commune with the spirits of their ancestors. When it comes to personal stories from a professional storyteller, Eileen tells three haunting supernatural tales, in the best of which, a spirit saves the life of her grandmother. We wrap it up on rural poacher-lore from catching rabbits in nets to a story about a famous folk hunter who passed up a shot on a stag enchanted by fairies.
