Bolander has been steady in the Kentucky music scene. During the last two decades, he's preformed with bands ranging from heavy metal, to rock with Alcatraz Shakedown, to more recently as Eric Bolander & These Assholes performing with an Appalachian sound reflecting Bolander's east Kentucky roots. In this interview, Bolander empathetically and honestly discusses the peaks and valleys of being a preforming artist while working as a full-time art teacher in the Fayette county public school system.

Jrodconcerts Presents: 'LIVE! From The Space at 100 Taylor' with Jamie Rodriguez
Originally from Eastern KY, and now based in Lexington, Eric Bolander is a voice taking the music world by storm. Lyrically driven by life experiences, Eric's songs give listeners a glimpse into universal experiences and the realization that growth happens when life gives us challenges and unplanned curveballs. An Art Teacher by day and Musician by night, Eric's mind is always immersed in the arts. A passion for the arts that keeps him moving forward and a unique work ethic and discipline has slowly made Eric's name a music tastemaker's choice in the exploding musical scene coming out of the 'Bluegrass State'. On this special episode of LIVE! From The Space at 100 Taylor, Eric shares with Jamie how he manages to keep his life in balance, the breakthrough moment where he picked up the guitar, we remember the late Taylor Hawkins and much more. Also, stay tuned for exclusive performances of 'I Wonder' and 'Cold Men'
While Eric has satisfied his rocking sensibilities doing vocal and guitar with the Rock Band Alcatraz shakedown, he worked the circuit for some time performing his own tunes, primarily solo and acoustic. The new phase of his career has him buddied up with three players: Seth Murphy, cello and multi-instrumentalist, and John Ferguson, keys/bass/vocals, and Ben Caldwell, drums/vocals. We're so excited to have these amazing musicians on the stage!

Lexington Kentucky based songwriter Eric Bolander is a working musician and visual arts teacher. We were introduced by fellow songwriter and artist Abe Partridge, who has also been featured on this podcast. Check out Abe's episode Eric is notably excited about a new relationship with Eastwood Records. Eastwood is working with Eric on the re-release of his 2017 album The Wind. There's plenty to be excited about. The promotional activity for this re-release offers a potential boost for Eric's music career. Among the topics we discuss (not necessarily in this order) are self doubt, connecting with fans on a personal level, email list building, house shows (aka house concerts), the challenge of booking quality gigs, balancing fatherhood, teaching and music, marketing his music versus his visual art, and what he's most challenged as a music artist today. Hear Eric's album title track song, The Wind at the end of our conversation Eric music juggling act also includes touring with a trio and a side-project rock band called Alcatraz Shakedown. He admits representation and a team would be nice, but Eric is clearly thankful for everything he has. Please enjoy my conversation with Eric Bolander.
