This week we sit down with Mike Thompson, a District Sales Manager for a regional seed company who has decided to try and make a difference by running for the Indiana State Senate seat in District 17. After recapping the year in the field on test plots, genetics and what's in the pipeline, we shift to his senate run, the thought process and ask "have you gone mental, man?"...but in a polite and curious way. Brenna MacMillan, originally from Winchester, Kentucky, began playing banjo at the age of nine. She has performed frequently in the Lexington area, which led to opening for J.D. Crowe and Bobby Osborne. Attending Berea College, Brenna played with their Bluegrass Ensemble under Al White and was awarded the Red Foley Memorial Music Award in 2018. She joined us here at Red Barn nearly five years ago playing with her brother Theo, and now plays with a variety of artists, bluegrass, Americana, and country in Nashville. Murder is a ghastly matter. At the hands of a loved one, it truly becomes heinous. Most murder victims are murdered by someone they know and a high percentage are killed by either a lover or spouse. This is not a new statistic. History proves that to be a fact. Polstead, Suffolk, England was not a place where one would expect a murder to occur, particularly in 1827. But a crime of passion did take place here and a young woman was left dead. The horrifying murder was nicknamed the "Red Barn Murder" because of the location of the murder. The paranormal takes center stage in the solving of this case as the victim's stepmother was visited by her spirit at night, three times. And then there is the cursed skull of the murderer and his spirit.
